We have the nursery half painted, a chest of drawers full of clothes (some gifts, some hand-me-downs from friends' babies, some bought by us) a load of toys, blankets, bibs, you name it...We've even been given a bath seat and I already know the pram I want.
The way I look at it, we have this precious baby right now, we love him or her, we want to bond with him or her and we want to spread out the cost/get things in the sales/as gifts when offered. Having a baby is expensive, the last thing we'd need is a massive bill nearer the birth.
Also, first trimester has been horrendous with very little in the way of fun and excitement. These little pleasures, honestly, have kept me going during the worst times.
