I love reading what everyone else's LOs are eating, it gives me lots of ideas. I was just wondering though, how much do your LOs actually eat? My LO is 8 months and we started 2 months ago. She still hardly eats a thing though. She tastes most things but then just throws it on the floor or plays with it. I know she doesn't need the food nutritionally but I'm just worried that she's not getting enough practise or experiencing enough different tastes. I Try to offer a variety of things so she has a bit of a choice but should I always offer something else if she refuses what I give her? It's hard enough preparing one meal without having to prepare back ups incase she doesn't want what I give her. Maybe on here as well as saying what we give our LOs we could say how much they actually ate. Its seems like everyones LOs are eating apart from mine!

Mrs Hedgehog- Some days my LO will eat LOADS and on other days barely anything at all. He always tries everything on offer though. I think they take what they need... although I admit to feeling anxious when he eats little as he's never taken much milk either (due to the reflux we think) and has struggled with his weight since a few weeks old.

Today...

Breakfast: Shreddies soaked in a little oat milk; 3 strawberries
Snack: 3 Organix carrot sticks
Lunch: Scrambled egg and a couple of wholemeal toast fingers; sharon fruit
Dinner: 1/2 a small baked sweet potato and 1/2 small regular jacket potato with a few low sugar/ salt baked beans; leftover hm sugar free rice pudding

Ditto what the other ladies have said, we have food all over the place very frequently!

Today...

Brek: apricot wheats, smoothie
Sn: organix carrot puffs
Lunch: hm guacamole pitta, few more organix carrot puffs, grated apple
Sn: stolen piece of cAke (small!)
Din: halibut, roasted vegetables, pasta (felt gnocchi bit scary at her age...) with DF pesto. Rhubarb crumble, tiny bit of oat cream

Toast with phili
Pasta a breadstick and some cucumber
Asparagus, 1/4 pot of natural yogurt (preloaded the spoon) and the best part an entire peach!

We've only been at it a week or so but Roman eats atleast half of what we give him especially the fruit. I give him half a banana which he eats the majority of and today he ate a peach sucked down to only the skin and ate an entire asparagus spear save about 2cm of the end which he couldn't get at. Toast etc he mainly just sucks.

What a great appetite! I suppose my LO will come to it in her own time. I'm worried I'm giving her the wrong foods or aat the wrong times. How do you time meals with milk feeds. Sorry for all the questionns, I'm just really concerned that LO will never eat. She's still BF every 2-3 hours all day and night too.

Today she had:
B - nibbled on a bit of toast with sugar free jam
L - baked potato and baba ganoush (from BLW cook book) - she didn't touch it at all, had a few nibbles of an apple
Snack - ate quarter of a mini apple rice cake
D - tuna pasta - she ate a few mouthfuls of tuna and just sucked on the pasta

Mrs hedgehog - I too often wish people said exactly how much of what is offered is eaten, as my LO is a bit of a nibbler as well :) and I feel he eats way less than other BLW babies of his age.
But, as always, I have to trust he gets what he needs. The amounts consumed have increased significantly since about 8mths - which coincided with a mini break from weaning when we moved house as I just couldn't get it together enough to offer solids! He started again with gusto and eats something everyday (probably thinks he better stock up in case I starve him again!). We've had worries about weight gain (he's nearly 17lbs at 8.5mths) but he has days where he'll eat loads - usually followed by a day when he eats very little.

Yesterday:
B - 3 milk soaked oatibix bites, bite of banana
L - new potato, 3sticks cheddar, 1 stick cucumber, 2/3 fruit pouch - this was a BIG lunch for him
D - two triangles of cream cheese sandwich, stick of pineapple, half pot fromage frais

Today:
B - 1 milk soaked oatibix bite, tiny bite banana
L - one triangle cream cheese sandwich, small slice avocado, fromage frais
D - one piece penne pasta, mouthful smoked mackerel, one floret broccoli, half runner bean (whole thing was smoked mackerel pasta from BLW cookbook :) ) ignored stick of cheddar and refused custard pot.

I think some babies just eat a lot more, more quickly, than others :)

Oh, as for meals and milk times - I used to offer boob before food but now he feeds every 3hrs or so and I just do three meals when I'm eating (usually 8ish, 1ish and 5.30ish). Don't know if it helps, but I have found he will tend to eat more if I sort of ignore him - so potter about the kitchen while he eats in his highchair. Shy eater?!

My little boy barely actually ate anything until about 10-11 months. It got to the point where the HV's were pressurising me to TW but I stuck at! He is now a very good eater and I'm glad I persevered.

My little girl is the total opposite. From day one she has eaten a lot! I can put food in front of her and she eats most if it. Her appetite is huge as well. This really is no exaggeration. I hope it continues.

I haven't had a problem with her not liking anything we have offered her yet. If we did I think I would persevere rather than cook a completely new meal for her. Food is fun before 1 so I'd happily let her have a breastfeed instead.

Thanks mistyscott that's really reassured me. You could be right about the shy eater thing as LO tends to eat more in the evenings when DH is there. When it's just me and her I probably watch her too much. When DH is there and we're chatting together LO just has to get on with it herself!

Porridge with blackstrap molasses and banana
Mini hm gingerbread man
Cashew butter and cucumber sandwich, tomato organix wheels, half a pear
Chicken tagine, couscous, griddled courgettes and pepper. Rhubarb crumble with Freedom.

Plus 6.5 bfs today! A hungry day!

Breakfast: Apple and peach fruit pot and ground almonds spread onto wholemeal toast; strawberries
Lunch: Fresh white bread with mashed avocado, tomato chunks; more strawberries
Dinner: Spaghetti bolognaise made with quorn mince (hilarious to watch him with the spaghetti!); squished blackcurrants with df custard

B - one triangle toast with butter, 1/3 fruit pouch
L - tuna mayo sandwich (1 slice bread) 2 sticks cucumber, 1 slice avocado, fromage frais
D - 2tbsp of mash, half lamb and mint sausage (BLW cookbook) one floret broccoli, half floret cauliflower, 1/3 fruit pouch

I decided to start trying pre- loaded spoons today with the yoghurt - oh the mess! :) he even managed it a couple times though. That goodness for the antilop highchair, that's all I can say :)

Joel had...

breakfast: mini shredded wheats soaked in milk (7 or 8), half a banana
lunch: peanut butter sandwich (about half a slice of bread's worth with smooth pb)
dinner: pasta spirals, loads of lasagne mince (contains mince, tomatoes, mushrooms, grated carrot and grated courgette, made it for a lasagne we were having and saved some mince for the boys, Adam didn't want dinner so Joel ate almost all of both portions), half a tomato, 4 slices of tinned peach, a piece of malt loaf
snack: half a rich tea biscuit, half a banana

Yesterday (nursery):
B - ready break and toast
L - chicken, potatoes, cabbage and banana
T - pilchards on rice cake, mango sorbet. Sent in df hm milk jelly and bread stick as well
S - still hungry so had beetroot hummus on rice cake, organix carrot sticks, raisins, peach and 1/3 apple and banana fruit pouch.

Today:
B - porridge with fruit pouch, crumpet and peach
L - beetroot hummus sandwich, organix carrot sticks, salad veg, peach and some "wot no dairy" yoghurt.
T - will be mild chicken curry with peppers and green beans, rice, chapattis followed by apple bombs with oat cream.

Lo is teething today and has eaten a little but mostly she is enjoying throwing it all off her highchair x
