ladies thank you for this thread!!! i am very nervously awaiting the 6 month mark and i would love to try BLW- i had never heard of it before- the things some of the LO's at 9-10months eat, would they still be ok for a 6 month baby???

sorry if im being silly but are breakfasts like weetabix ok at 6 months for my LO?

um...id try not to go for weetabix as they have a fair amount of sugar in, although if you monitor what else she has and doesnt have too much more during the rest of the day then it would be ok :)

we pretty much give lo whatever we eat, as long as its not high in salt or sugar, so like breakfasts so far shes had normal porridge oats, toast with sugar free jam, greek yoghurt with strawberries, and tomorrow she will be getting well cooked scrambled egg to celebrate turning 6months:haha:

hi there - don't be nervous, it's great

at 6 months amost anything goes, although you should be careful, and perhaps get advice if there is a strong history of allergies in your family. the only things i can think of you have to avoid are honey and whole nuts, and some types of fish. and all eggs, seafood and meat need to be properly cooked. otherwise it's just a case of finding out what your lo can manage, and how to cut things up.

today hayden had:

b - porridge fingers with some ella's kithen apple and strawberry puree mixed in (needed to use it up - bought it before we decided to blw - didn't work very well - they were a bit too soft!) and a pear

l - philadelphia sandwich, cucumber, natural petit filous with pear puree (realised when i was already giving him it he had already had pear for breakfast - he didn't seem to mind though.

t - scrambled egg, pitta bread, tomato, organix rusk and 2 small plums.

and then he didn't want his bedtime milk - oops!

oh yes - forgot to say be careful of sugar and salt :dohh: i'm sure others will add if i've forgotten anything else

B: toast
D: big rice cake with dairylea, cucumber, papaya and a bit of DH's pasta & pesto
T: 2 fishfingers & beans (the low salt/sugar ones)

oo thank you!!! i have bought some organic porridge oats and i usually make my own jam but shoudl prob get some sugar free!!!! no allergies at all in the family so i am excited but nervous! i like to be organised so thats why im here a little early!!!

i will prob have a thousand more questions in 5 -6 weeks time!!!!

I don't buy Tristan jam, I just boil some pears, apples etc then puree them and freeze into icecube trays. I then pop 2 out and microwave until thawed and use that as jam on his sandwiches or toast :)

Don't be scared of BLW, it is brilliant! :)

We started a couple of days before 6 months and he now practically eats everything we have, I ust make sure I cook everything from scratch so I know what has gone into it.

You can get Baby Stock Cubes and you can also get a Baby Weetabix :)

How do you guys feed the kids, do serve little pieces or just everything and let them at it? I'm trying figure out how to not let Malcolm, who is 8 months, stuff everything in his mouth.
