BLW - what did your LO eat today?

Ruby was picky yesterday!
B - Shreddies
L - Threw jacket potato at me
Snack - 2 x cornish wafer crackers, bit of fruit bun
D - Chicken curry, whole naan, small amount of rice. Loads of papaya

B: shreddies & puffed wheat (like sugar puffs without the sugar bit LOL)
L: rice balls (left over cooked rice mixed with philadelphia & stuck under the grill to heat thru/crisp up a bit - this worked really well :) ), bit of ham, rice cake & philadelphia. Mandarin oranges. refused mango.
S: 3 big breadsticks.
D: 1 serving spoon of bolognese sauce (with extra veggies in as well as mince), grated cheddar, picked out and then discrded all the pasta after licking 1 piece. Greek yogurt. 1 solitary raspberry

I keep trying pasta in sooooo many different forms and I just can't seem to persuade him to accept it - I even made stew with soup pasta in & he pulled pieces of pasta out of his mouth!

Have had a lot of food thrown at me again today.

B - Shreddies
L - Avocado on toast (threw about half on the floor) Plum spelt finger, fruit smoothie pouch
D - 1 Sweetcorn cake. Refused sausages! Plum spelt finger, loads of raisins, still seemed hungry so I got her a cracker with fruit spread but only half eaten.

They are so different!! Pasta is pretty much Thomas's favourite meal, he will pick out all the bits of pasta and eat them first before moving on to the vegetables or other accompaniments!

Yeah, Ruby ignores all other things offered until every single bit of pasta has been eaten!

Yesterday:

Breakfast- shreddies
Lunch- rice cakes with avocado spread, half an orange
Snack- half a wholemeal rusk
Tea- chicken breast and pasta in a tomato sauce (a big hit!)

Its funny because Toby used to ignore pasta like it wasn't even there when i offered it but yesterday he was devouring it!

Hi...I haven't tried my DD on pasta yet but would like to start. What sort of pasta is a good first one to go for? She is 8.5 months old. Is it better to start with something like pasta spirals she can try to pick up herself or something like orzo pasta and mix it in with a sauce?

Sorry...I know this probably sounds stupid but when you give shreddies for breakfast with BLW do you add milk or just put some out of the box on their tray?

I add a little bit of milk to Shreddies so they're soft. Then I put them on her mat.

With pasta, I wuold imagine that orzo would be very difficult for them to pick up, we use all the different short pasta shapes really, such as fusili and penne.

I add milk to breakfast cereals so that they are quite soft but not so soft that they fall apart in LO's hands, if that makes sense.

Thomas particularly loves pasta twirls, I think because they are so easy for him to pick up.

We use fusilli or penne or occasionally spaghetti (but i cut the spaghetti shorter otherwise he gags loads!)

Penne seems to be his favourite

Also i add a dash of milk to the shreddies and put them in a little plastic bowl on his highchair tray and he usually picks a couple out before picking up the bowl and tipping the rest on to the tray and chatting to the bowl for a bit before discarding that (usually on to the floor) and getting on with the rest of the shreddies  :haha:

Today Toby had

B: Hardly anything, maybe 2-3 spoons of porridge

L: A crumpet, and some left over cold pasta from yesterday that i'd put in the fridge last night, and a fromage frais

T: Chicken and noodles, with a tiny dash of spicy sauce on the chicken (as that's what we were having) but tbh i shouldn't have bothered as the sauce was a bit too spicy even for us and put him off a bit i think. So he didn't eat much, glugged some watered down cranberry juice from his doidy, picked at his noodles a bit more and then went for his bath

today Adam had:

b: shreddies, mini shredded wheats, peach
l: chicken & cucumber sandwich (he picked out the chicken and ate it all but only half the bread), most of a banana, natural yogurt
s: half a breadstick, 2 mini ricecakes
d: grilled chicken, hard boiled egg mixed with creme fraiche, a baked potato, tomato, peach

re pasta - other than lasagne, I don't offer it much because he doesn't seem overly enamoured with it. might need to try some different sauces (I usually do creme fraiche or cream cheese because it's less messy than tomato)

Adam's been funny with food lately, am almost certain it's the heat that's affecting his appetite because we went to my parents' in the northeast last week, where it was significantly cooler than London, and I was astonished by how much he ate, it was ridiculous. or maybe he just prefers my mother's cooking.

:nope:We were having orzo with something last night so I tried her on that and...big mistake. I mixed it with a puree she normally loves and she went ballistic. Ended up refusing to eat and dinner

I'll have to try her on some of your suggestions next time. Hopefully she will like pasta as we both love it. Today she's had

B - 1/2 avocado (grabbed spoon and attempted to self feed only to rub it all in her hair and flicked loads over mummy!) and couple of tbsp oatmeal
5oz bottle
L - home-made chicken casserole (only half a portion) Annabel Karmel recipe
sucked on a ring of apple before hurling it on the floor
3oz bottle

Haven't had dinner yet. Mealtimes are getting pretty dreadful though. I can't say that eating is her favourite past-time, she's tiny and doesn't eat much. She doesn't seem to turn her head away when full she just goes straight into meltdown. Not much fun:nope:

Today Thomas had:

B: Porridge pancake, half a banana, half a pear, two bitesize shredded wheats as still hungry

L: Potato waffle, scrambled egg, bit of cheese, dried fig

D: Leftovers - roast chicken (refused), mashed potato, carrots, parsnips, a bit of stuffing, roast potato, natural yoghurt with a bit of fruit spread.

I gave him the yoghurt in a suction bowl for the first time as he is becoming very reluctant to give the spoon back to me and keeps trying to grab the bowl. He wasn't able to load up the spoon for himself but it did look like he was trying! Then he had fun trying to eat the bowl.

ooh we havent posted in here for ages!

today ruby had.....

breakfast - 2 slices of toast, 1 with marmite, 1 with honey, and 3oz of pure apple juice
snack - innocent fruit smoothies tube, handful of grapes & 1 biscotti
lunch - 2 egg omlette with peas & sweetcorn
snack - handful of blueberries
dinner - grilled chicken, broccoli, french beans, swede & baby new potatos with gravy

shes finally down to a bottle just morning & bedtime now, so shes started to eat a lot more in the day as a result!

Wow - Ruby and Thomas are eating so so well!!!

Bun really doesn't eat much - and his milk feeds have gone up during the day lately!!! So he gets milk 5x/day - I just don't want to limit it, since he will under no circumstances drink water! I have been trying for weeks! yikes!

Anyway - yesterday Bun had:

L: offered 1/2 banana oat muffin and blueberry applesauce. He ate maybe 1 or 2 bites.
D: turkey meatloaf and potato wedges - ate almost 2 wedges!

wow Kat that's fantastic!
Jacob's not been eating great lately but he's teething and they're all coming all at once. today wasn't too bad, he had
B - mini shredded wheat - he only ate about 5
s - 2 plum biscuits
L - rice cakes with banana teeny bit of pineapple
D - tomato and veg pasta with fresh crusty and a couple of strawberries

Ruby had...

Breakfast - shreddies
Lunch - 2 homemade breadsticks, papaya, ella's kitchen smoothie pouch
Dinner - Chicken korma, whole mini naan, 3 mini rice cakes, raisins

B: piece of toast (really off breakfasts at the minute)
L: baked beans, yoghurt, banana (ate a WHOLE mini-tin of baked beans much to mine and MIL's amazement. I was almost going to take it away as I was worried about him eating so much but if he didn't want it, he wouldn't eat it..right?)
D: cod, champ, asparagus & mangetout (mostly ended up on the floor), raspberries & pear.

B: (really off breakfasts at the minute)
