Slept through! Slept through! Slept through! 7-7! :happydance:

Now I just need to realise that I am also allowed to sleep through, rather than waking every couple of hours :dohh:

Hi girls, am looking for a bit of highchair info: https://www.babyandbump.com/baby-cl...hts-needed-travel-highchairs.html#post4883605

Colsy- Way to go Monty for dropping a night feed! Out of curiosity, do you plan on raising Monty to be veggie?

Hmmm, to be decided. :-)

I am veggie-veggie-veggie, no holds barred. OH is not veggie, BUT he doesn't ever cook or eat meat at home, unless he has shot the meat himself. Occasionally he has fish, but only haddock (no unsustainable cod in our house) from the chippie or some dolphin-friendly sardines out of a tin. OH grew up in a very rural environment and he shot from a young age. But anything he shoots is food, not just a bit of fun. I don't have a problem with this, as I would rather he eat a happy bunny than some crate-reared pig from Romania sold in The Supermarket Whose Name I Will Not Mention in Our House (except to be derogatory!). Likewise, when we eat out, OH does eat meat but he chooses as far as poss to eat either locally reared or organically produced meat.

I originally went veggie aged 14 cos I didn't like eating our furry friends. Now, there's far more to it than that - environmental issues, animal welfare issues, and issues relating to my own and other people's health. OH agrees with all my principles, hence his being 'selective' re meat-eating.

So ... clearly there's more at stake here than a simple 'don't eat cute lambs' issue. And so we're still very much in discussion, and actually we're being very democratic about it so far. OH totally understands why I'd like Monty to be a super-veggie, but equally I can understand his sentiments when he suggests that perhaps we shouldn't impose views on Monty. But then <cue philosophy discussion!> where does imposition of our views begin and end? If I don't stop him eating meat, do I also not bother encouraging him to do the simplest of other things that fit my morals, such as recycling everything and not driving when a walk will do nicely?

So much more to child-rearing than what sort of nappy to use!

Will be interested to hear your and OH's views Kaites. xx

Hope you don't mind me adding my two-penneth.....

I think that religion and food are two very similar things. You should decide what you want to do, eat and be lol. Other than that, my house, my rules lol. As such, we'll try our best to give Earl a balanced view of these things through his childhood. While he's a baby as long as he's healthy and happy, then that's what's important. A healthy lifestyle and attitude are quite rare nowadays, yet IMO, they're quite easy to foster.

Colsy- My reasons for being veggie go back to my teens when my body decided it was going to give me problems digesting meat (won't give all the tmi details, lol). I can't say I miss it in any way and can't imagine going back to eating animals yet I have no problems if others enjoy meat/chicken/fish. I do have a problem with some of the farming practises though- the use of hormones in particular. I agree that it's hard to draw line when it comes to imposing our views on our kiddies. DH eats enough meat for the two of us and he enjoys it and I wouldn't try to change him- this is where my problem lies since it would be hypocritical for me to say Emma can't have meat while DH happily tucks into a steak. Hopefully by giving Emma choices and encouraging sustainable/healthier options along the way, we'll strike a good balance  You're right though- so much more to parenting than nappies :) Congrats on Monty sleeping through!

I used to be veggie as did OH, we do eat meat now but try to buy local organic meat and i'd say more meals we prepare at home are veggie. I hope Noah is able to learn from us but make his own choices. We do try to live as 'eco' as possible, we dont have a car, cycling is for us, we cloth nappy and we recycle everything we can. It works for us and I hope Noah will have similar values.

sorry i started waffling, i agree on the religion aimee im happy with what i believe and feel no need tp preach to others or be preached to if that makes sense.

Hi ladies. James is being a very naughty boy. He has discovered that while in his Bumbo he can arch himself almost out of it, and if he drops a toy he can lean over the side and pick it back up! Don't trust him alone in it anymore! So frustrating cos now I can't leave him in anything. His bouncer he can sit forward in, his bumbo he can lean out of, and on the floor he can now scoot backwards!

LK we are trying to find a new seating option as Noah is at the same stage, I found him dangling his head off the sofa

Evening all :hugs:

Colsy ~ Well done Monty! I hate it when that happens - we wake up expecting them to and not a peep, its good and bad lol!

Kaites ~ Cute video of Emma, she took being dunked really well!

Re morals and ideals etc . . . my philosphy is the best we can do is give them knowledge and the understanding to make informed decisions. Hope that makes sence I'm a tad tired. The time change affects Chloe at evening time, hopefull she will get the swing of it soon.

Maffie ~ Like the new avatar pic of Noah

LK ~ Oh dear, hmmm wonder what you could use? Walker / bouncer thingy perhaps? Like chloes car thing or a jumparoo thing?

Hope to have a new nursery tomorrow, more CM stress so we taking chloe out of there. fingeres crossed, I check it out at 10 but if a no-go at 2 have a work appointment to go part-time. As much as I would love mornings with Chloe it would make life more tricky for Nij and me so we shall see - sick of getting my hopes up with things lol

Night all xx

Im at a loss on what to get as he goes nuts in his jumperoo wont stop bouncing, he managed to undo a buckle on his chair the other day, the play tray kind of keeps him pinned in the bumbo

My main reason for a chair is so he can sit up and I can leave the room say for a wee or something lol Dont want anything too expensive as im happy for him to sit in one of is play mats when he can support himself better.

I must start child proofing the house really, not sure what I need to do my home just doesnt seem that safe yet

Ha, who was I kidding when I thought maybe two nights of just one feed, followed by one with no waking whatsoever might mean that we were heading towards sleeping through once and for all. Last night felt like we were at newborn stage again. Three - yes THREE - feeds in the night and a morning wakening of 6am, plus now, at almost 10am, he is still refusing to go down for a nap. OH is sat upstairs with him, wearing his ear defenders (I kid you not!), trying to encourage him to sleep.

OK, I have a rant. Plus a "reasonability question" re my rant. In the nights, when Monty wakes up, generally OH gets him out of bed and passes him to me, and then I BF and put him back to bed. Meantime, OH drops straight back to sleep while I feed and I can hear the lucky b*****d snoring, so I know he's asleep. Now I know this is probably totally unreasonable, but I get really irritated knowing he's sleeping while I am feeding. This is partly because I am one of those people who struggles like hell to go back to sleep once I've woken up, so I know that even after I've put Monty back into his hammock and he's fast asleep it will still be ages before I go back to sleep. OH meanwhile is the sort of person who just goes straight back to sleep. So my issue is that he ends up getting far more sleep than I do at night, which obviously isn't really his fault, but still it really pees me off. So I think I've answered my own question - yes, this is unreasonable of me. But I can't help myself - every single time Monty wakes up I end up grumpy with OH. Does anybody else get like this?

(I guess we're in a different situation compared with a lot of other people because we are sharing work and childcare, and so it's not a question of one of us needing our sleep any more than the other. On the nights when I know OH needs to be up early and driving, then I don't begrudge him his sleep, because I want him to be safe in the car when he's driving to a job.)

Colsy - sorry I missed off the congrats about Monty sleeping through. Hopefully he'll start to do it more frequently. Earl has gone 8-6 the past 2 nights running- I'm sure now I've said that we'll be up al night lol.

LK and Maffie - re Bumbo's - Earl does the leaning over thing too and it's getting annoying as where we have it (naughty as it's on the worktop in the kitchen) I'm frightened to death he's going to try to get to the dog which is his fave toy in the whole world lol. I have his rocker, and it's great, but it's not upright enough for him so I have to have a cushion in the back of it which makes it a little unstable :dohh:

Kte - Hope the new nursery turns out ok. :flower: or that the meeting goes ok. Either way - good luck.

Not a lot going on with us. Earl is REALLY suffering with his teeth and barely sleeping at all during the day. We've had to revert to sleeping on us - at least for some of it. I've tried everything for his teeth except powders but nowhere around here sells them so I'll get some at the weekend I think. Everything else is wearing off on the effectiveness stakes....poor little mite. I swear I'm going to go in and drag those teeth out soon. They seem to be taking an age!

aimee lou - have you asked chemists for the powders? I've found sometimes they are not on display but kept behind the till?

xx

Yeah - we have 2 boots....one had never heard of them and the other said I can order them but it'll take 2 weeks  I'm off into York on Saturday so i'll pick some up then.

Morning ladies!

Hope everyone is having a good day! Today is DH's first day of work at the new job so I'm alone for the whole day again. I actually think I might get more accomplished, lol :) I'm a little sad that the new season is starting since his hours are going to be insane until the fall (when mat leave is over anyway :() He usually works around 60hrs a week which sucks for family time.

Kte- hope the new CM is a go for you and Nij! We have Emma on a waitlist (in case I don't become a CM myself) and we got a call yesterday telling us another home daycare in our area closed- I thought it was a little weird that they would call us to tell us that, but as DH pointed out, it was probably a subtle warning that it's unlikely we'll get a placement at a licensed daycare in time for September. Looks like I'll be opening my own in that case, lol :)

Maffie- we use the Bumbo tray to pin Emma in there too! I'm dreading childproofing the house- DH has a love of cacti and we need to get them out of reach very soon  I bet it won't be long til Noah can sit unsupported on his playmat- Emma is able to now and it's so nice to sit her down for a minute to play on the floor alone when I have to run into another room.

Colsy- :hugs: for the sleep deprivation! OH has reduced hours in the winter so he's been home most of the time too and snores right through the night as I tend to Emma. Like you, I find I have a hard time getting back to sleep (mostly worrying that his snoring is going to wake Emma before she's back in a deep sleep). I've had nights where I've resented him for it too- I bet it's pretty normal :hugs: It would be so much easier if he could just lactate... :)

Aimee- I hope Earl's teeth cut soon! :hugs: We're still waiting for the elusive first tooth too- it's taking so long!!!

Well, I better get off the computer- Emma is chatting to the cat, waving her arms around performing for her but the cat isn't too impressed. This usually results in an upset baby when the cat leaves the room  Hope everyone is having a good day!
