Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

go out for the day tomorrow & just leave him with Dexter, so he doesn;t have a choice- see how he likes it!
alternatively, everytime you have to get up to give him his bottle, make a point of being noisy, or jab him in the back to wake him up & piss him off, so that he actually has a reason to be tired & then say, that's how you feel all the time.
Men can be a bit clueless at times.
Only other thing is to explain to him low key how tired & drianed you feel & that a bit of help during the night would be really appreciated, so that you could be be well rested?

Morning girls. Hope everyone had a good nights sleep (as good as we can get when waking up for feeds anyway lol). OH did James's feed at 2am and he took a whole 5oz little piglet. And then still woke at 6am for another feed lol. Ah well such is life. Been trying to ring the drs this morning to make an appointment...have been trying to get through for 50 minutes and so far just an engaged tone. Must just be timing it wrong! Starting to get quite annoyed cos I have got other things to do today lol.

Morning everyone:flower:

Not posted for a while but still been lurking!!

Aidyn will be 3 weeks old tomorrow and is growing at a rate of knots, had him weighed last Wednesday and he was 9lb10, up from 9lb6 at birth so he has gained what he initially lost plus some so I'm a happy mummy!!

He is quite a content baby and, so far, sleeping very well, taking each day at a time as I know it could all change very quickly :dohh:

Have shocked myself in that I am still breatfeeding, I did it for 6 weeks with the other 2 but sort of had it in my head that I wouldn't be able to do it for so long this time what with having the other 2 to look after and school/ nursery runs, etc. but its going really well so carrying on for the time been.

I am having a girly night out on Friday, its been planned for ages so I need to try expressing, have got a pump just need to work it all out:dohh:
God knows what I am going to wear though, still have about 12lbs to lose and the most mahoosive boobies:blush:

Breastfeeding never seems to help me with the weight loss:nope:

Right off to sort the washing, where does it all come from?, hoover up then off out for a walk, need to wrap up warm thou, its freezing out there!!

Have a good day:hugs:

Hiya girls, hope you don't mind me joining you in here even though my boy didn't fancy being a bumpkin baby!?

Ethan is 6 days old now and doing great. I love him sooooo much it makes me tearful :cloud9: He was weighed yesterday and has only lost 7oz from his birth weight so I guess I'm feeding him enough despite him being a sicky windy baby..he throws up after every feed, sometimes the whole lot so I was worried that he would be going hungry. He was a good boy for the heel prick test too..didn't even flinch, just continued with his snoozing!

Were not having a good time of it at nights at the mo, he doesn't like being put down in moses basket atall, took me till 3am to settle him last night  he then slept solid untill 7am though, but gawwwh I can't function properly on just 4 hours!! I'm so ! Someone please tell me it will improve soon?! I don't remember this with my other 2..must have been so bad my memory has blacked it out lol
I have to own up..I caved in and gave him a dummy the other night to try settle him and it does work abit but I really didn't want to give one this early on. So far it hasn't caused any nipple confusion so just hoping it won't.

:hugs: Good morning ladies!

How are we all? I've had a lovely weekend. We went to MIL's (4 hours drive through which Earl slept both 2 hour legs! Little darling!) for 2 nights. It was a bit of a mad house as hubby's Nana and Grandad were there 2 (4 generations of the same family!) and some aunties and uncles. Earl was a little star and hardly played up and slept to his little routine (feeds at 10.30, 2.30 and 6.30!).

We have however discovered that he has a tesco's shaped bum! We have tried Huggies, Pampers, Baby Eco, Boots own and Tesco's own and the best of all have been Tesco's. The Boots own leaked EVERY SINGLE TIME - we went through 4 baby-gros in 8 hours! It was a small nightmare but we managed.

Anyhoo.....Earl was discharged on Friday...he had gone up to 9lb 9.5oz - dread to think what he is now. We're not going to clinic this week as we have plans and the only day it's on is Wednesday but we WILL be going next week as I'm intrigued! lol

All in all we're doing well. Couple of questions.....does anyone know a good guide to development stages either in a book or on the net? I'm confused about when they are supposed to start doing things and want to look out for hints etc (he's starting to try to hold his own head up (very wobbly but he gets this little concentration look on his face and a furrowed brow....hilarious!) and I would like to know when to expect things. Also, how many times a day should he be pooing? Gosh the things you talk about as parents- I spent an hour discussing his 'gas' with my MIL yeserday! lol

Have a good day ladies!! xx

Helz good to see you! :) Congrats again on little Ethan. :hugs:

AimeeLou- I was wondering the same thing about development stages, as me & my OH are a bit clueless on that kinda thing... which considering my OH has a degree in psychology with child & language development is unacceptable, lol! He can't remember what he did yesterday, let alone 3 years ago :dohh:

LK- did you get through to the docs at last??? I hate jhow long surgeries take to answer the damn phone! Ours is a massive place & only ever seems to have 1 receptionist who is rushed off her poor feet, & you see her trying to type on the screen, answer the phone & deal with all the patients cueing up to book in or make appointments at the desk. I do feel bad for them, but it's their own fault for not having more employees or more phone lines!

JLo: glad Aidyn's doing well & congrats on the 2 weeks BFing. How are your other 2 boys with him? Do they get jealous at all? My 2 nephews react very differently to harry- one of them (5 yr old) wants to be included in everything, asks quite good questions about him, wants to know why he does certain things etc... The other (14mths old) is totally jealous- everytime anyone pics Harry up, he starts wimpering, launches himself at you & demands the attention. He also poked Harry in the eye, tried to hook my booby out & feed himself (totally freaked the hell out me!!!!! argh!) and then tried to pull Harry out of his bouncy chair thingy so he could sit in it, and also went into my room & pulled the moses basket over so he cud play with the cuddly toys in it!!! (luckily Harry wasn't in it at the time) You can't leave him alone for a second; it's actually pretty scary. My poor sister can't sit down at all when she's here coz he's always causing mischief & mayhem the second you let him out of your sight.

Anyways.... I knew H's nightime routine was too good to be true. He would not settle for love nor money last night & was still awake at 2:30am, which was completely exhausting & I even swore at him. OH looked like he was gonna stab me in the eye! He was like, give him here, go get yourself some Horlicks & chill out woman!!! I felt so bad... But I had literally been in a continous circle of feeding, winding & cuddling since 8pm & felt like I was gonna die :dohh: Once he settled tho, OH snuggled up and told me I was doing a great job & he was really proud of me & stuff, so that cheered me up a bit. Then harry woke up again at 4am, 8am & 10am. I have only just got him settled again... Oh well, writing it off as a bad day, lol. What doesn't kill us only makes us stronger!

Did anyone do anything for Rememberance Sunday yesterday?

Q: do any of you swaddle your LOs? What do you dress them in to do it? Harry seems to be over-heating a lot in our room, but if I dont swaddle him, he either wont sleep, or takes chunks out of his face & pokes himself in the eye all the time. I'm only putting him in a nappy & vest, but he's always boiling hot & red in the face & neck when I check on him... Do you reckon just a nappy & the swaddle would be okay???

Anyways.... I need a cuppa & some biscuits methinks :)

Hi all

Well walked down to my emergency dentist appointment this morning. I have been in agony as some of my teeth were broke during my emergency section. I didnt have a dentist here but got a local one to see me as an unregistered emergency and when I explained how it had happened he's said I can keep going back to have the others fixed :happydance: Just hope all the pain has gone when the injection wears off!!! He said if I need kncoking out again let them know i've got some very expensive dental work in my mouth (it's typical they broke a tooth that has cost me a fortune

Noah seems to be having pooing problems he keeps pulling his legs up and screaming as thought he's struggling. He can hold hs head up now and rolls onto his side well. He's also grabbing toys iin the play gym. I'm shocked by how much control he seems to have of his head.

Girls, I've just posted in desperation on the Baby Club thread re our little one's wind, colic, etc. I didn't want to post it all again here, but I am hoping some of you will read my thread and maybe be able to help. I nearly phoned NHS Direct or a doctor last night, as Monty's screaming was frightening me. My post is here:

If you have the time to read it and realise that you're going through a similar thing, I would love to chat and see if we can find any solutions together.

I just want my little boy to feel better. Thankyou girls xx

I swaddle Autumn, but only at night, so she learns her night time routine and knows that means sleep.

I generally put her in a sleeper and swaddle her and lay a light blanket over the bottom half of her body. Sometimes I just swaddle her in a vest if it's a bit warmer.

I think if you put just a nappy on, make sure you lay a blanket over the bottom half of the body. At the end of the day if he gets too cold he's gonna cry and wake you up :)

I was reading about how many layers to keep a newborn warm and rule of thumb is one more layer than you have. So if you have PJs and a blanket, you'd add one more layer to the baby, so the swaddle.

Hey Lady,

I just quickly scanned the post as I'm about to go out, but I wanted to give you :hugs:

Autumn is not as extreme as that, but since I started her on formula at night (my milk supply has dwindled down and I'm only making enough to get her thru the day) she is getting quite stuffed up and grumpy.

She's gone from pooing every nappy to going once every 2 or so days. For about 6 to 8 hours before she goes, she's horrid. She won't let you put her down, shes bad tempered, screaming, kicking, won't sleep and it makes it worse cause she gets exhausted but won't sleep.

Once the butt explosion happens, she sleeps for like 5 hours and is normal again.

Things that help me sooth her is laying her across my legs, tummy down and just rubbing and patting her back so it puts pressure on her belly to try and help move things along. Adults every day movements help their bowels move the poop along so we can go, but where a baby lays still its harder for them. Thats why they need some stimulation.

Also when I'm sitting up, laying her against my chest so her head is on my shoulder, and rubbing my hands up and down her sides. Then I'll lay her across my lap on her back and rub her belly in circles.

One thing I tried the other night was running a bath and getting in it with her, the warm water really soothed her .. I think the skin on skin helped to.

I know it's not the magic cure you're looking for, but hopefully one of these tricks will at least help a little bit.

It might be reflux you know, that would burn. You can get sleep wedges that go under the baby and prop them up a little bit to help stop the acid going back up.

:hugs::hugs:

:hugs: colsy. i juust read n replied to the thread... i'm so sorry you're going through this.

Evening ladies :hugs:

We took Chloe into town today and opened her a bank account!! OH has been saving bronze for months since we found out I was pregnant and she now has 15.77 in her account. We also got some pictures printed and have started her baby photo album.

I was finally able to give her some expressed milk today, I was a bit worried she wouldn't like it after drinking so much formula feed but she guzzled it down. She is on about 90ml a feed now little gannet! I'm quite happy I can combi feed a little.

helz ~ I have given Chloe a dummy, she sucks her fingers so badly we have to put olive oil on her hands and cover them with mits, She doesnt keep it in for long, just to settle her and then she spits it out. I'd rather her take a dummy than keep on at her hands.

aimee-lou ~ OMG how naff are Pampers!! I had the same problem, thank goodness I only bought 1 pack to get the free Boots bag! I will be giving them away too, we used a sample nappy thankfully so the pack is sealed. My mum bought us some Morrisons nappies and they are amazing, no leaks, keeps her nice and dry.

I was wondering about the development stages too, let us know if you find anything :D

Flora ~ I roll 2 blankets up in the moses basket next to Chloe and put one either side then she has her hospital blanket (OH kept it for memories bless :cloud9:) wraped around her up to her waist which keeps her nice and secure. That way she feels the closeness but isnt too hot and I have another blanket on standby then incase. She is usually in a vest and baby grow though.

Right, must get off, in the middle of washing baby clothes and getting the house to look semi-respectable for the MW and my sisters visit tomorrow. Then hopfully a nice soak in the bath :)

im sooooooooooooooo sooooooooooooooo mad and need a rant but dont want to offend anyone

Hello all hope all is well, well some of us seem to be struggling with the wind our little bumpkins have, i have been using infacol on 2 feeds a day, and it seemed to have worked, but the last 2 days when we have give it to George, he seems upset getting his wind up and crys after his bottle is empty, when we dont give him infacol on the next feed hes seems more relaxed and then has a snooze, so it looks like the infacol doesnt agree with him? so we have decided not to give it to him and see how he gets on, today we havent used it at all, and hes be great, so fingers crossed xxxxxxx
Hope everyone is well xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi everyone,

Sorry to hear everyone is having so many problems. Infacol would appear (touch wood and everything!) to be working so far so I'm hoping that we can keep it manageable for him.

Just wanted to come on and share this.....Look what we can do!! Earl's left arm was waving away tonight so I just had to take a pic!

We're in for an interesting night. Earl is having a growth spurt, wont stand to be put down and is eating 2oz every hour! We've decided to make lots of tea, grab lots of movies and chocolate bars and see how we get on. We're supposed to be going to see my Dad tomorrow so I'm hoping he will wear himself out for at least a little sleep.

Bye for now everyone x

Good Afternoon All...

Guess these LO are really learning to push us all...

I'm struggling to get dressed any time in the morning as Madam just wants feeding and is the same come evening/bedtime... OH is getting more sleep now, so his mood's better... LOL I'm struggling with even seeing any zzz's let alone grabbing many! I know we're only at the 2 week mark... I'm hoping that she starts to settle sooner rather than later... I'd like some zzz's too...

OH looked after our little jem yesterday, so I could have a bath; LOL she'd just been fed and was out for the count... LOL She started crying as I got in the bath and continued until I was dressed and back downstairs; I took only 15 mins... I just can't listen to the tantrum for very long... She still won't entertain a dummy or a bottle so expressing any milk just gets wasted at the mo; I'll keep trying as we've the panto next month. Ah, if she still won't take a bottle, she'll just have to come too... LOL

OH admitted he's finding it hard to settle LO as you can't just put the dummy or bottle in her... LOL I find once she's full she settles rather well, wether across my knee, over my shoulder or in her crib; the hard part's fill her up... She does DS's trick of stopping feeding just as they drop off to sleep, so when you put them down they wake as they're not truely full... Spend a lot of time topping her up... Little madame!

Hope the windy pops start easing for these LO struggling with it... And I hope the parents are coping too... I know it's hard to deal with... Hugs all round xxxx

p.s also found popping her into a grow bag, with a cardi on and a blanket during the night she settles right back to sleep straight away after a feed. No more waking when I pop her back into her basket as it's cold.... Might be worth a try...

Morning, oops afternoon!! Where do the days go???!!

Ethan will be 1 week old at 9.20pm tonight! Had quite a good night last night, the best so far anyway..we tried going upstairs to the bedroom with him abit earlier than usual so he would have more time to adjust to moving to a different room, we just watched tv with a dim light on and he snoozed till 11pm,had a feed then settled down in his moses basket fairly quickly and slept till 3am, had another feed then again, settled fairly easily again and slept untill 8.30am!! :happydance: He had 1 dose of infacol before his feed when we took him upstairs (he really hated it!!) and we raised the head end of the moses basket up a tiny fraction more than it was, and I wrapped him up abit tighter in his blanket..dunno if any of these things had anything to do with his good night but we'll be doing the same again tonight!! Was gonna just post a few pics but he's just woken up for a feed so I'll be back soon!! xx

Hi girls

Hope you anmd your babies are all well....

I am feeling really odd at the moment as this morning we finally got a diagnosis for our son... He has got Autism :( I am feeling kinda confused and i am scared about the future and what it will hold for us. I knew deep down that this would be the diagnosis but actually being told by a professional made it all very real.

Dunno what else to put to be honest as my head is a mess and i keep crying... Will catch you all later xxx

Babylove a big hug to you and your family xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
