Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

Oh Leah lovey massive hugs. My cousins little boy has autism as well as other problems. If you need a chat then PM me x

We had a really good day and night with James. We went bowling and then had dinner at YoSushi. Was so nice to be out and about. We then went back to our mates house and watched a DVD. He had a top-up at 1.15am and settled at 1.30am, slept til 7am, then again til 11.30am! So actually got some decent sleep. Last couple of nights hes had 5oz at his middle of the night feed and then he took 4.5oz at 11.30. Hoping to get him weighed this week.

:hugs: baby.love, I am sure it must be a bit of a shock even if you did suspect it.

I don't know how to put this without it sounding wrong but at least he has been officailly diagnosed now as hopefully there will be lots more information and support for you and your family xxxx

Hi girls

Hope you anmd your babies are all well....

I am feeling really odd at the moment as this morning we finally got a diagnosis for our son... He has got Autism :( I am feeling kinda confused and i am scared about the future and what it will hold for us. I knew deep down that this would be the diagnosis but actually being told by a professional made it all very real.

Dunno what else to put to be honest as my head is a mess and i keep crying... Will catch you all later xxx

Aww, sorry to hear that Leah, but seriously, it's so good you've found out now as there is so much support & services out there for children with autism now. I work in adult services for young adults (aged 18-25) with severe autism, some of whom can't talk, can't shower themselves, use very limited makaton to communicate their needs, are very physically agressive due to their frustrations etc... If they had had help & support when they were Ethan's age, their lives could've been so much different & dare I say better as a result? One of our boys who's just turned 19, was diagnosed aged 3, and got specialist help, great access to education & has an extremely supportive & involved family & he is the only one of our lot who can talk (limited to single words & swearing mainly, lol, but well enough to communicate all his needs) and was taught to look after himself from a young age & i love working with him- he is one of the nicest blokes around & i love doing activities (cooking, cleaning, football, trampolining, going to the pub to play some pool etc) with him- I honestly believe he is the way he is because of his early diagnosis & his parent's hands on approach to his care at home & with us.
I know there's a long journey ahead for you both, but from reading about the kinda person you are, I know for sure you wont accept anything less than 100% for him & are obviously very loving & caring, and have an active roll in your children's lives, so Ethan is already in good hands & will have a bright future. I would bet money on it!
:hugs: to you, him & the rest of your family. xxx

:hugs: for Babylove, hope you're ok, having baby hormones right now won't be helping the situation either xxx

I need to post this pic that was taken this morning cos I just love it :cloud9:

And the other one is me with my 2 boys :cloud9:..I make pretty boys :cloud9:

Evening all,

I have finished my birth story!! It is here is anyone would like to read it, although I must warn you it is quite long!! Chloe Louise, Born 31st October

Chloe was discharged from her midwife today :happydance: Her professional photo's from the hospital arrived too :D

My sister came today for a visit and brought us a celebratory cake she had made, my nephew had chosen the design, so OH and I decided to have a mini cake cutting ceremony!

Right, off for a nap :D x

Great news my end... they accepted our 2nd offer on the house!!!!!!!! Got mortgage thingy tomorrow to secure the mortgage & stuff, then a solicitors meeting on thurs. i am sooooooo excited!

Babylove ~ Golly, what to say? The road is long and the journey hard. Your son has very good parents, as you've managed to get a diagnosis so young. They assessed my DS many years ago, came back with many charactoristics of Autism. As well as speech and language issues.. He had a statemment in place ready for starting school... We looked at special schools etc and went for main stream... Years later no medication, lots of patience, time and help (had his own teaching assistant for 3 years) attended special language unit and finished speech therapy last year... I've no regrets, DS is still slightly different to his peers; but aren't we all different? We've taught him about the differences he has to others (as kids are cruel) he has coped very well and in my eyes will go on to have a relatively normal life... He controls his urges, frustrations and will explain to others what his good points are... ie, when bullied, he use to come out with I may talk like a baby, but I can do maths better then you... We're all good at different things... As part of giving DS something else to acheive in, I started his swimming lessons rather young (at 3ish) he has acheived well in the swimming even when his progress in the language was slow... We found that there was so much he needed to do, in school and at home it was benifical to him to give him 'his' time too... Otherwise it was all homework and no play... Look to the future, the hard work now, will hopefully make the future easier for him... Big Hugs xxxx

My sis has done me proud bless her, it tastes as yummy as it looks!

Congrats on the house news!! :flower:

Good evening everyone

Baby love - :hugs: Just like a few of the other girls have said, it's good that you can help him now.

We've been to see my Dad today. He's 82 and absolutely refused to hold Earl....little bit upset as I would like a picture or 2 (not to be morbid but he's not going to be here forever), Maybe next time. Earl was as good as gold and passed out for a sleep after his feed while we had lunch (mmmmm roast beef!) then spent 20 minutes staring at the lights in my Dad's ceiling! lol

It's a week since Earl was at the hospital and his arm just keeps on getting better. Hoping that by this time next week we'll be pretty much sorted as he has his check up and it would be lovely to be told he's mended! :cloud9:

Hope we're all ok. Time for a chill out! :coffee:

Morning girls. Well I could have killed OH early hours of this morning. I suffer badly with migraines and woke up at 2am to James screaming and realised I was brewing a migraine...the first one I've had since having James. I asked OH to do his feed so I could go back to sleep as the only thing that helps me is to sleep it off. He point blank refused and said he needed to sleep cos he had to go to work at 9am. I told him I had a migraine and all he said was 'Well I told you to ask the dr to put you back on your tablets'. Hmm well duh I forgot funnily enough when she was telling me I need to be referred to the hospital for this bleeding cos its not piles and it could be Ulcerative Colitis or Chrohns!! Managed to get through his feed and take some painkillers and go back to sleep. Luckily James let me sleep then til 7.30am so I am feeling slightly better and can actually function this morning. Really wanted to go back to sleep but by the time I had woken OH up for work after feeding James I had to stay up cos the Tesco man is due any minute. Hopefully he will arrive soon and then after James's next feed we can both have a nap.

Hug for you littlekitten, hope your head feels abit better and you get a nap.

Were making progress at night time! Settled Ethan down in his moses basket around 8.30pm, woke for a feed at 11, 1, and then 3am (growth spurt!!) but he settled back to sleep quickly after each feed and then was still asleep at 7.30am, I had to wake him up for a feed, otherwise he wouldn't have had time for one untill coming back from school run! I'm feeling quite good today! Were going to register him soon so I best go get a quick sarnie.
Love to u all xx

Hi everyone,
Just realised that I hadn't been on today lol.....must be the first time for about 6 months! lol

Hope we're all doing well. Looks like we're all busy as it#s very quiet in here.

We had a fun night. Earl has been sleeping to 3-4 hour intervals since he was about 3 days old but last night we went down at 10, then woke at 3.30! Was lovely....such a shame that I put him back down, he was just about to get to sleep then the fish tank light came on and frightened him awake. He then refused to go back to sleep.....was wide awake and into everything until 6am! I then passed out on the sofa to find hubby looking at me at 9am! granted he slept until 9.30 and then through til 12 but he's feeding so ravenously at the moment I'm seriously considering upping him to 5oz feeds on an evening as he can finish 4oz in a flash!! (bearing in mind he's 2 and a half weeks old! :dohh:) I don't know whether it's a growth spurt still (we had 2 days where we were just eating and eating and really clingy.....had thought that was it but not sure).

Anyway, we had our last official visitor today. One of Earl's grandad's still hasn't seen him but he's in Ireland and can take time to get over, but we had SIL over on her own to 'practice' changing him etc as she wants to be able to have him about once a month (sounds good to me ) so he's going at the end of November for an afternoon while we go and see 'A Christmas Carol' :happydance: He will be about 4 weeks old then.....scary!

Anyhoo, Hubby is cooking tea tonight as I had such a full night and I've just woken up from a 2 hour nap  lazy bones! lol

(TMI too.....my stitches came out this morning in the bath and it's our anniversary today  We shall have to see what happens  as I'm as randy as a stoat!! :winkwink:)

Have a good evening girls! xx

Evening all,

OH was so good to me this morning, took Chloe downstairs and let me have a lie in. He even brought me a cup of tea up when I woke up too. I am really going to miss him when he goes back to work. Wer have had an entire month off together and he has been such a fantastic support with Chloe, he wants to enjoy looking after her as much as he can whilst he is off but its nice he remembers me too!

Aimee ~ Happy anniversary :flower:

My stitches are apparently dissolvable so I have no idea if or when they will go. I'm still bleeding anyhow (sorry TMI I know!) so I won't be getting OH to check!

Chloe stayed in her boucy chair for a bit today, she normally has a bit of a moan but she was quite happy today :D She is quite windy today though bless her so she is quite clingy.

I know the feeling Kte! Hubby has been off for 5 weeks by the time he goes back next week. Really going to miss him but he has the day off on Tuesday!! He's really hands on and we have agreed that on nights before his days off he will do night feeds to give me at least 1 night a week off!

My stitches were dissolveable but I had to pull them out in the bath today as they were lingering and doing my head in. I reckon they probably would have fallen out in another day or so but I was so fed up of feeling something there. I got hubby to check to make sure they were all gone (only had 4 small ones) and he couldn't see anything. I have found that if I have a soak in the bath it stems what's left of the bleeding for a good couple of hours :happydance:

Anyhoo....Earl is pretty much down for the evening and I have chocolate cake to eat!! Yummers! xx

Ah . . . I am guessing mine are still there then, I have been sore etc but haven't noticed any stitches thankfully but I know they are there as they told me when they were putting them in. Your brave pulling them out! That would make me cringe!!

I was told they would fall out within 7-10 days but it was 16 days post and they were still there and annoying me as I could feel them. They just came out when I pulled so no cringing needed....I'm a wimp normally lol.

I'm in a good mood today....everything still works!!

Is anyone else having really weird dreams? The night we first DTD after he was born I had the most vivid dream that somehow a spermy had escaped the condom and I had done a pregnancy test and I was staring at a BFP! So had fallen pregnant 4 weeks after giving birth. Have had the same dream pretty much every night since and it's freaking me out now. I know that the condom didn't split so I know I'm just being paranoid. Think its made worse by the fact that I'm pretty sure I ovulated about the same time as we DTD cos I was getting pains in my right ovary. I'm just waiting and hoping for my period now. Never thought I'd be saying that lol.
