Colsy I must admit I love new fluff but most my new fluff for Noah is second hand, ive a few new nappies and some ive saved for next baby but I tend to buy off forums and then sell on.

Kte I do BLW and TW as some days Noah wants feeding and others he has independant moments and wants to do it all himself.

Flora Harry is just perfect as he is I think he's following a similar line weight and height wise by the looks of it to Noah (Noah did drop down to 2nd percentile for a while but back on 9th now)

Had a busy day today, ive said in GS why. Bit shaken up bu today but hopefully I can move on now.

Happy Tuesday!

Nothing special going on here today- I feel like I should be doing housework but am so not inclined. Spent yesterday afternoon in the pool with Emma and my mum came over for a splash too. It was nice just hanging in the backyard, enjoying the sun (well, mostly shade since Emma was there but you get the picture, lol). I think Emma is going to be getting 3 more teeth soon- I can faintly see them under the gums. She didn't sleep as well last night so maybe they are bothering her a little.

Chaos- Happy belated birthday- hope your family spoiled you!

Aimee- Congrats on the winnings! Sounds like a good way to make up for the rest of week :) I hope your dad gets well soon and is able to get back home soon :hugs:

Maffie- Happy 8 mths Noah!!!

Colsy- I agree about the whole antithesis of natural parenting bit- what gets me is the tickers that say how many disposable nappies have been saved from landfills when a small fortune is being spent on all the new nappies and the resources used to both make the nappies and deliver them to their homes :dohh: I'm no angel either but I don't try to spin things into making myself look like a green crusader (eek, that probably sounds really mean  Maybe I'm just jealous of all the pretty nappies, lol). Last time I looked at the thread, it seemed like things had cooled since Rachel's post though. It seems like that area of the forum has become really prone to debate lately, usually people getting really defensive

Kte- Congrats on the pain-free poop :happydance: Sounds like the new cream is doing its job! OMG- don't even get me started about public transport, lol :grr: A bunch of elderly people tried to get a bylaw passed to prevent Mums from bringing strollers on the buses so you can imagine what it's like using a pushchair on the buses here- argh! And then there was the whole pregnant and using public transport nightmare.... I hope your commute tomorrow is smoother :hugs:

Flora- :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: That's horrible that she would stoop so low as to drag Harry into it. Harry is perfect and she's just being a twat, lashing out where she knows you'll be sensitive.

Hope everyone is having a good day :hugs:

Well guys the paddling pool wasn't a great success - he was very tired after his nap and just wasn't in the mood I don't think. He didn't dislike it though so that's good lol. Piccies aren't great but there's one in particular I will have to resize later.

Flora - Don't worry about it - it's all about proportion and genetics. Earl is in proportion (91st accross the board) and his Dad is 6ft 2 and weighs 15st (Well done Chaos! lol :haha:) so he's going to be a big, strapping bruiser! He'll be taller than me by the time he's a teenager probably (I'm 5ft4! lol). Harry is absolutely perfect - and she has no right to say anything about Harry, regardless as he's a child and cannot defend himself! It's downright rude and she doesn't deserve to have anything to do with him if that's what she really thinks! She also shouldn't talk to anyone like that, let alone family - grrrr I think you've done well, I dread to think what I would have done. You'll be better off without her and the stress. :hugs:

haha! I just pulled those numbers out the air!

Autumn gets her 9 month check next week .. she's SO long, I think she's gonna get my sisters hight (she was born at 28 weeks and is now 19 and 5ft 10!) Rather than my lil 5ft 5 height lol.

Oh she has the hush puppy rolls too ;)

Aimee, totally agree with you on the hair having a growth spurt everytime there's a development spurt.

Kte, so pleased your bum ain't sore today :happydance: (Having had postnatal piles on and off ever since Monty was born, I know just where you're coming from.)

But OMG girls, the development continues apace ... Monty has gone from being obsessed with rolling for the past three days to suddenly able to pull himself on to his knees so he can bite the top bit of his cot bars! He's almost standing up for goodness sake. The bit that I can't handle though is that he forgets to hold on after a couple of seconds and then crashes on to his head or face on to the mattress. Is this OK?! I don't know what to do! I asked my midwife friend, and she just said 'Oh yeah, my xxxx used to do that and sometimes she would actually topple over the cot bars on to the floor!' You what? It's funny, each time I go into Monty's room I just don't know what position he will be in.

But on the sleep front, we have now had even more improvements :happydance: Whether this is a change that will hang about for a while or just a blip in an otherwise bad sleep pattern is yet to be discovered ... But you know what, I have a theory - basically, the osteopath on Friday worked on some tension in Monty's neck and spine. Well pretty much 48 hours later he started rolling, and I mean rolling for England, over and over and over again. It was like he'd been wanting to do that for ages but something was holding him back. So I reckon the osteo dislodged a blockage that was preventing Monty from rolling, and in so doing has eased all that unrelsolved frustration, thus allowing him to sleep better at night. Let's just hope it gets better and better.

Way to go Monty!!

Makes perfect sense. You know how you feel when you're all locked up and what a relief it is when it finally goes! My Chiro (Osteo in America) adjust Autumn when she's teething and not sleeping as teething puts their C1 joint out in their necks, and she sleeps SO much better and her mood improves SO much after this.

Do you have follow up appointments with him?

Re the standing in the cot thing .. now Autumn has mastered standing she's covered in bruises. In fact she has one on the side of her head in the perfect shape of the cot bars because she tumbled down. She can get up will .. getting back down ... well it aint so graceful :dohh:

Can you lower his cot any? we had to put her mattress down to the lowest level a couple weeks ago.

Yep, got another in ten days.

Mattress is currently on its middle level, so we can go down one more notch. Poor Autumn, with her cot-bar-shaped bruise :flower: These babies don't seem to learn that things hurt - or at least they let us know they hurt when it actually happens but then they forget all about it all over again:dohh:

Am currently trying to BnB, and also watch ARgentina-Greece and also pack up a load of eBay things, including a huge toy - god knows how it'll get there without breaking!

well done MOnty!!!! :) Can I ask what exactly the guy does when they do they adjustments? I been umming & arghing over whether to take Harry to our local chiropractor, as I also had a ventouse & have heard that they can really mess with a baby's neck, shoulders etc & cause tensions, pains, stiffness... While I dont think Harry's ever been in any pain or anything, I was wondering if it would be worth taking him, just on the off chance there was any tension???

Jo, I have unadded her thismmorning as a friend on FB as she sent me a text saying I all kindsa nasty stuff & about how I apparently had Josh in tears last night because my mum & dad wouldn't speak to him before he went to bed because they were angry at me & my sister. Both of them have, as usual, taken my sister's side because she pulled out the poor me card, yet again.
I replied to her text saying that for the forseable future I'd rather not have her round (I think hubby would kill her, lol), and that I'll drop Josh's bday presentsa round, but wont be coming to his party to sit with a bunch of morons. Shje was like, 'well, consider yourself an only child now coz niether me nor Charles (our bro who no one speaks to, or rather he he speaks to no one, lol) want you in our lives anymore, so fuck off & be a loner with your loner child & loner life you bitch.' So, I replied, oh well, shit happens. it'll be cheaper for me not to have you lot in my life anyway, and it's not like you can do anything for me that a friend couldn't, so I guess the only ones really losing out are your kids. nevermind. see ya!'

It's kinda weird. Me & my sister have arguements every few months, like all sister's do, but we always just fall back into line after a couple fo days & no appologies or anything & just carry on as normal. But this time, I'm not sure why, but it's different. I actually dont want her & all her drama in my life right now. and I'm actually ok with that... She will call us the next time she needs a lift to A&E, or the next time she's stuck somewhere & needs someone to pick Josh up from school coz none of her friends drive etc... Just like she always does. Yet in return, other than all the 2nd hand clothes I got from her, she actually contributes very little to mine or harry's life & I never realised that before...

ANYWAYS, moving on!

aimee, how's it going with the paddling pool?

omg what a bitch!!! me and my sister are like that, its not often we fall out massively. we did once and it took a long time to get right again. your parents shouldnt bloody take sides either. not saying you are but id rather be a loner sat in with my baby than out pissing it up with taxpayers money and not giving a shit! i told a guy i work with today about it and he said thats shocking and you were so right lol :hugs:

fleur i just read your 2nd update, that is shocking that she dragged harry into it like that, christ we cant leave sam alone for more than 5 minutes and he's bored and off to explore getting into trouble or hurting himself. harry is 8 months ffs. if he's following his percentile then thats ok if anyone was the slightest bit worried they'd have picked it up with you by now. she really is a lowlife (Sorry!) x

Morning all,

Colsy: Well done Monty! You'd think they would follow these things up as a routine after ventouse if it's been known. Sounds like it has helped a treat, really pleased

Journey home wasn't too bad yesterday, well it was but I could moan until the cows come home! Yesterday was bad though as an old couple was walking towards the bus at the bus station and I was behind them, the bus driver saw us, shut the doors and pulled away. Now fair enough they have set times to set off but why are the other buses I catch always late!?!

Was sad to leave Chloe at nursery today, I passed her over and she burst out crying and reached out for me  It's the first time she has done that, i'm sure she will be fine now but it just took me aback a bit.

I keep on hearing a lot about 8 / 9 month checks - is this something we have to book ourselves? I know Chloe isn't 8 months yet but just wondering what others have done / been doing in regards to it?

Ive never heard of a 8/9 month check up. I hate buses Kte ive had so many either not stop or not lower down :grr:

Over here they do a 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 12 month checks. I booked them all at her first check up lol.

I have just seen a few posts here and there about them, maybe its regional or something  Didn't want to not do one if we are supposed to but I will struggle to get the time off work now :nope: ARGH to busses! :haha: They wonder why people don't want to use them! Ooo yes the not lowering down thing as well and leaving a slightly too bigger-a-gap between the bus and the kerb to wheel off the bus, meaning kind of having to do a running jump :grr:

 Thanks, I'm going to investigate further, maybe its in her red book, I can take a peek tonight.

KTE- generally, in the UK, they used to do the 8 week check, 6 month check, 8 month developmental check & the big 1 year check... Now they tend to just do the 8 week & 1 year check. In some areas they still do the 8 months check, but my friend said if they do, they usually send you a letter about it...

Jo, thankyou. It's crazy bow many emails I';ve received from friends & other family members saying that while it wasn';t right to have a fight on facebook, the initial opinions of what my sister is doing with her life is wrong & that maybe she is jealous of me & the life I am able to give Harry or something? It's been very comforting knowing I have support out there, even if my parents aren't talking to me right now....

On a good note, I somehow managed to lose 6lbs out of nowhere! :happydance: Maybe the whole BFing & losing weight thing is FINALLY kicking in at last???!!!

So, went to the baby group today & popped across to the clinic whiloe we were there, mianly for reassurance after all the comments about Harrybo. They weighed & measured him, did some developmental checks, asked what he eats & when, how many BFs, snack, whether he has water at all, etc etc... AND HE IS FINE!!! (I knew he was, but i just needed to hear it from a professional). We ended up with the entire HV & nursury team there with just us, doing all these checks, while everyone else had to wait & stare, lol, and Harry was very good & showed all his 'tricks' so to speak. He is basically exactly where he should be for his age & all his measurements are sitting in the middle to upper 9th centile now. (He's now 17lbs 1 oz). So I am reassured, content & feel more confident in my parenting skills again, so yay me, lol.

Chaos, did you have fun at the pool today?

How's everyone's LOs handling the heat??? Harry's not a fan it seems...

anyways, better go to bed & drag hubby away from the crapness of Big Brother.

Evening ladies. Sorry not been on much but its been completely manic. I've been applying for a course at uni so I can be a mentor at work, working full time, arranging a christening and sorting out stuff for the big move. Oh and to top it all off we have the paediatrician on Saturday morning to get the results of James's EEG and then getting his photo taken in the afternoon! Gah! Why oh why do I try to do so much at once?!

Anyone else really suffering with hayfever? Mine is just pure evil right now to the point where even 4 hourly Piriton is doing bugger all. And worse is that James seems to have got it too poor thing. He is sneezing loads and keeps rubbing his eyes. Anyone know if we can get baby Piriton for him?

Another quick question....anyone know if the weight is super important when going up into the next stage car seat? James is standing now so is past the development stage for the next seat but still only weighs around 17lbs and at this rate won't reach 20lbs til he is about 1!!

Flora - cant believe your sister is being so evil. Me and my sis dont get on but holy moses thats a little extreme! I honestly thought she was more 16 than 26. Yikes. I would have done the same thing btw.

Hope everyone is good!

LK, Good luck with everything! Re carseats: i think they have to be either 9kg or have outgrown the stage 0 carseats lengthways before they can go into the stage 1 (or above) seats in the UK, but I'm not sure.
You could get one of those multi stage seats which are stage 0-3? My sister (grr) has one for her youngest & he's had it from birth & is now 32lbs odd & is doing him well. Looks quite comfy too.

I already have a Stage 1 car seat hun otherwise I would buy him one of those. He hates going into his infant seat now and just yells and screams the whole time. He still has about an inch of growing room above his head but his legs are like little frog legs in it lol.

Well after a night of tossing and turning (me) James was awake at 5.55am and so he has now had breakfast and I am sat drinking tea wondering how on earth I am supposed to stay awake through 'Building team working in your team' for 7 hours!! It's going to be boring and I am shattered already.

I didn't know there was a developmental stage for carseats. I just thought it was weight (ours is 13kg I think). Anybody else got any info on this?

Flora, I'll reply to your osteo Q in a mo (I did yesterday, and then I lost the whole message!).

Florabean, re the osteopath ... it looks like he isn't doing anything at all when he treats Monty. (Maybe he isn't and he's earning lots of money by doing nothing, ha ha!) He laid Monty on the couch and very gently manoeuvred his head and neck, but v v v v gently, not like adult osteo where you get all those ligament clicks. After a while Monty got bored lying down so then osteo sat him up and did similar stuff. TBH Monty barely knew it was happening, as the osteo was behind him the whole time. In fact Monty must have just thought something was tickling him as he get moving his hand behind his head as if to have a little scratch. The whole session lasts about half an hour, including the osteo taking history. The very first session, back in the newborn days, took more than a hour as the osteo took a very detailed history of my pg, the birth, the reasons we were consulting him etc. He runs a scheme where the first newborn check is free of charge, with a donation to the children's hosp if you want. Maybe there's one near you that does something similar? I know you won't want to use a Sheffield-based osteo, but have a look at his website anyway as it gives lots of useful info and interesting case studies: https://www.theosteopathicpractice.com/

I'd defo recommend using a practitioner who specialises in children, so then you know they have lots of experience in paediatric work.

Let us know if you decide to go, and then how you get on.
