Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

Evening all,

Cute pics of LO's everyone :)

Dom85 ~ Chloe's not really a sicky baby but she has just projectile puked all over me. She did it on the couch on Thursday too. Sometimes she just tries to eat and eat and eat. Her feeds aren't always so regular during the day though. I think I baby-led-feed or however its called, I don't wake her up to feed her I let her tell me when she is hungry. Although I think I need to keep an eye out and when she leaves it a bit too long between feeds durng the day as I think thats when she over does it and back up it comes.

Kriskitten ~ Hope your OH comes around soon :hugs:

Taylorsmummy ~ :hugs: Hope you get to speak to someone and get some support x

Maffie :hugs:

Chaos ~ gorgeous picture of Autumn. How do you put her to bed in the sleeping bags? I have a few but I like to put Chloe's feet at the bottom and I can't see how I can do this if I put her in a sleeping bag? That was a nice thing of 'Mrs Clause' Its really nice what some people do

A question tho, how r u ladies operating bedtimes? Do you take bub up at a certain time to bed or do you just let him sleep as he wants with you until you go up and take him with you?
Im currently going with the 2nd coz tommys so young but im wondering if i should be getting out of that now?
Hope everyone and their mini-mes r good xxxxxxxx

WE have no bedtime at all. Just totally going with what Monty does of his own choice at the moment. Quite often we sit in the lounge with him on our laps and he will sleep while we watch a bit of telly in the evening, and then we go up any time between 9pm and midnight. Thing is, we prefer to wait until Monty wakes himself for a feed so then we can feed and change, and then put him to bed. If we put him to bed before that, we know he'll wake up in an hour or something so seems a bit pointless waking him beforehand. I think at this age (Monty is 4weeks) routine is harder to do than not do. But that's only my opinion - I would say at this age there's no right or wrong, you just go with what feels ok for you.

PS Well done on reaching the first BF milestone :)

Yep, we do this too, when Aidyn wakes up downstairs usually between 10.30 - 11, I take him upstairs and change his nappy and feed him before he goes down.
I did the same with my other 2 aswell, will probably carry it on for another 4 weeks or so before starting to establish a earlier bedtime but am been led by Aidyn totally.

We do this too at the moment and Earl seems to like it (only difference being that Earl stays downstairs as we kept him awake with him in our room).

I've posted a thread 'to routine or not to routine' in baby club. I would welcome any advice you girls have as I really am in two minds about it. (Been meaning to start it for the past 2 weeks lol)

Hope we're all ok.....Earl is great, Hubby is great (although neither of us wants him to go to work tomorrow - 3 weeks really isn't a long time!) and I am fine too.....tired but incredibly happy rather sickeningly lol. :cloud9:

Have a good day girls xx

For bedtime routines we just take Chloe up with us. I am not 100% sure what to do about her bedtime routine at the moment becase our own home routine is about to change. I know I need to start one soon but she is only 2wks and 1 day old so I still feel it is a little early yet. OH is going back to work tomorrow which I am really quite sad about. Due to his dad having the annurism we ended up having an entire month off together so it's going to be quite strange not having him about. Having said that he will be home for 1.30pm so it's not as if I am without him for an entire day. He is obviously tired in an afternoon so it's hard for us to go out and about like we have been doing. The main thing I am worried about is that it means bedtime at 7.30 for him again and we are not sure how to go about it. I used to just go to bed with him when I was pregnant which was ideal as I needed all that extra sleep :)haha:) but I know Chloe will be awake at this time. She wakes up for feeds periodically until 11pm which is her last feed before we change her for bed and take her up to her moses basket in our bedroom. I think we shall see how the next few days go and figure it out. I have said to OH I will come up with him tonight but if she disturbes him too much then I will come back down.

Quick Question:When can we actually start using moisturising cream etc on our LO's? Chloe has really dry skin on her hands and feet, it's not eczema tho. The MW told us to put olive oil on her hands and cover them with mitts at night time. Her leg's have now started to look dry too so I was wondering if I could start using baby moisturising cream. A bit of olive oil is okay but I feel wrong covering her all over in it!

We booked her Christening yesterday and the function room today. OH has created some invites on the PC and we have printed and cut them up. :cloud9:

It's really good to hear you are having a great time aimee. I have to admit Chloe is a very good little girl and my OH has been fabulous too. I feel bad telling people though sometimes, especially when they have had or are having such a hard time with their own LO's.

Hope everyone else is okay, even those October bumpkins who don't seem to be able to get on here anymore :hugs:

I started putting baby oil on sams feet and legs at about 2 weeks cos they were really badly dried out, then put his socks on over the top, i also put a few drops of baby oil in his bath too. Its worked very well so i still keep putting it in the bath to keep him nice and soft :)

Kte - I started to use sensitive baby lotion on Earl at 2 weeks as his skin was still peeling around his hands and feet. The lotion really worked and it's all but cleared up now. I only use it sparingly - I put it on my hands first then massage it into him rather than use cotton wool too as it warms it up and means the excess is absorbed by my hands too.

Thanks also for the well wishes. I did think twice about posting but the girls on here are so supportive and understanding. I know how you feel about your OH going to work....my hubby works either 6-2 or 1-9 so he only really spends half the day out of the house in real terms....still too long IMHO! Still, only 6 weeks until christmas then he has a week off in January too!

I hope we're all ok.....right, I'm off to go and bath the trouble-maker! The moment of truth has arrived!

Have a good evening girls xx:hugs:

EDIT: No hot water so I guess he's escaped his bath until tomorrow lol. D'oh!

On a funny note hubby just accidentally fed infacol to the dog!

Hope everyone is doing ok. Rachel has not done a poo since Friday, should we be worried? Have given her some cool boiled water tonight to see if that helps. She is fine in herself but up until then she was going everyday, she is bottle fed.

Kte - Oilatum junior is fab for the dry skin, really helped Rachel, you can get it in boots.
xx

The things we talk about on here eh? :dohh: lol

I wouldn't be worried unless she is showing signs of discomfort. Earl can go 48 hours without too much 'show' and then it suddenly creeps up on him.

Btw, does anyone else's LO poo during nappy changes? Earl seems to do this to me quite frequently - never to hubby though so I'm trying not to take it personally lol  I suppose it shows that I'm in tune with him....either that or he does it on purpose! lol (Hubby says that it's just he doesn't like the feel of the poo in his nappy so this is the better option lol )

Thanks aimee-lou, I know the topics of conversation are riveting!!! The water worked as this morning an explosion was awaiting me - all up the back -lovely :)

Rachel used to poo a lot during nappy changes and was always with me to!!

xx

Morning!!

Just though I would share a piccie of Aidyn I took last nite:cloud9:

Off to a coffee, cake and card morning today at my friends house, fortunately its only down the road, don't fancy venturing too far in this weather!!!

Have a good day girls :hugs:

Afternoon all

Well today is my first day on my own. I've been staying at my mum's for the last week due to OH breaking his elbow and my tummy taking ages to heal. Noah didnt sleep last night so both oh and myself were shattered this morning. He's sleeping great now  He seems to be feeding less too which has worried me a little as you could normally set your watch by him wanting a feed every 3 hours now he's going 4 hours.

I've discovered Noah also doesn't do well if i've eaten junk. Had Mcdonalds last night and he was one very upset windy baby.

Going to register him this afternoon, looking forward to that. It took me ages to decide on surname but ive opted for oh's name.

afternoon everyone......

Well Hubby has gone to work  - I really didn't want him to go but I suppose someone has to earn some money. He'll be back at about 9ish and it seems like forever away.

On the plus side....Earl is finally looking comfy in his comfy chair!! Piccy below. He had looked a little bit 'squashed' as he couldn't hold his head up enough. He's been sitting in it for about 15 mins now and he seems to be intrigued by the window! Hoping he will lie down for a sleep soon after all that window watching as I've promised hubby a nice tea of pasta bake and I had planned to get it cooked this afternoon. We shall see....I may well have been optomistic. :dohh:

Have a good day girls. Hubby is day off tomorrow (talk about jammy lol) and we're off to the hospital for Earl's check up with his arm. He's waving it around pretty much the whole time now and sleeps sometimes with it above his head  so I'm hoping that the Dr will be pleased with his progress.
Speak to you later on ladies xxx

Afternoon,

Maffie ~ Enjoy registering Noah. We gave Chloe my OH's surname, it's a little strange having a different surname to her, I am fine with it, its just when we are doing anything official its strange to give a different name to her. One thing that was interesting was that the registery office said was that if OH and I were to ever get married then we have to go back and register Chloe again so that my updated details are on her birth certificate!

My OH back from work now, stretched out on the couch bless him. I snuck off to do some outstanding jobs whilst he had a cuddle. He certainly missed his little girl.

Chloe was having a stare at a little pattened blanket today and having a mumble bless, think that was a first for her. She normally stares at things but she actually seemed amused by the blanket today :cloud9:

Right, off to watch the rest of TopGear (catch up on yesterday's) with OH . . . speak to you later ladies :D

I just thought I'd pop in & say Congratulations to you all! Hope you don't mind. I was a Bumpkin once too, back at the beginning :flower:

All your little ones are absolutely gorgeous..Well done! Hope everyone is OK & that your little ones are all being little angels for you xx

Btw, does anyone else's LO poo during nappy changes?

Yes! Between weeks 2 n 3 tommy went nearly everytime i changed his nappy - it became the done thing to go through 2 nappys per nappy change as hed usually w8 until i got the new one slipped underneath him. I think its coz the posiiton their in wen u do the nappy change (legs in the air, knees toward their belly button) helps them to go and to release wind. I noticed as soon as i picked them up he started trumping. I now wiggle his legs around a bit n pick them up just b4 i change his nappy to make sure everythins empty lol. Iv also found it rlly helps to doit wen hes full of wind to help him release. The pooing has settled down a bit recently tho, not EVERY nappy is dirtied and he hasnt gone during for a while now.
And Tommy has the same bouncer :) Mothercare?
It seems to be growing on him. WHenever hes in it he just stares toward the window the entire time. I always stick him in it wen we come down in the morning o i can have my breakfast, he only rlly tends to stick it out for 10/15 mins b4 he gets fed up n wants a cuddle tho.
Piccy for proof:

Well as for my OH, he seems to be coming round. Well, i may be jumping the gun but last night he came down to watch tv for a change and actually held tommy without looking bored to tears or mortified. He was pulling faces as him and chatting to him a little. Admittedly it only lasted 10 minutes until tommy started wriggeling and he was back in my lap in seconds - but its a start right? Hes off till thursday coz the restaraunts bein refurbished (again???) so hopefully ill be able to arrange sum more daddy n son bonding without the "iv been working all day" whinge.
He honestly seems to think i do nothing but sit with tommy on my lap and watch loose women all day! I dont no how he thinks the washing gets done, the kitchen gets cleaned, HIS stuff from all over the bedroom gets tidied, the house gets hoovered and dinner gets cooked. And this image of being able to just leave tommy to quietly entertain himself all day while i can snooze just amazes me, he may be a very well behaved baby but he DOES NOT like being ignored if hes awake.
Men!
Argh rant over...i feel better now *sigh*
Anyway i better go and summon the housework fairys again....¬_¬
Hope every1s doing well xx

Earl looks content in that piccy AimeeLou :)

Maffie, enjoy registering Noah! It's cool getting the birth certficate, like it says he really exists, iykwim?!

Kte, harry has dry skin too, espcially on his face & shins for some reason. I haven't put nayhting on it yet, as he seems to have reactions (rashes) to almost everything I've out on him so far... He seems fine the 1st time I use something, then the 2nd or 3rd, he comes up in a rash, so we've been cautious now & are only trying 1 product at a time, so we can see what he reacts to & what he doesn't. So far, only Asda babywipes seem ok for him, and in the bath, EVERYTHING makes his skin come up all bumpy & rashy & HV said it's normal? Last couple of baths he's had, I've just used water & nothing else & all the rash has gone away. Typical- I got bought so much Johnsons products, lol.

Kris; yep that defo sounds like it's a start in the right direction for your OH. :) you wanna come do my housework for me too?!!!

Harry smiled at his daddy for the first time thismorning. He woke at 5:30am (I got nearly 6 hours straight of sleep, woohoo!) & after I fed him, was so content & wide awake. Sat him on my lap & we were having a little chat, then he launched himself head first towards my OH & had the biggest, dimpley grin on his face. I was like, 'open your eyes Craig!!!!' and he did, and then OH fell back to sleep with a big smile on his face too. Harry sat staring at him with his hand on him for about 4 minutes, just grinning away. I never realised how big his dimples were, lol. Totally adorable! :) Now I just need to get him smiling at me like that! :dohh:

anyways, better go. i haven't even brushed my hair yet today & my house is a pigsty again... at least Harry is well kept in his new clothes, clean nappy & full tummy. Spse one of us has to live the good life!

Kriskitten - I noticed that and meant to mention it before. Yes it's mothercare. I actually got it off ebay so saved even more money on it lol. Earl seems to like his chair....managed a full 25 minutes while I folded the washing earlier! He's passed out now after his lunch (my wee hobbit seems to be eating little and often today! lol)

I know what you mean about the housework. I'm a bit daunted to be honest as it's my first day on my own today and I have a few bits and bats to do. Earl has literally just gone down after 2.5 hours of awake time and I'm shattered already lol. Still, my hubby has said that he doesn't care about the house being a state as long as we're all happy so that's a bonus - plus as he has the day off tomorrow, it's his turn for night feeds!

I'm glad to hear that your OH seems to be coming around to Tommy. My hubby admitted to me that he was having trouble bonding with Earl - and he's a doting Daddy. He's tried to do a bit more 'hands on' stuff since then and it seems to have worked. What's also been good is that Earl has started to recognise him and follow him with his eyes, so he actually feels like Earl needs him as much as me - which is silly as Earl is bottle fed and we both share the 'baby duties' anyway!

Anyhoo....speaking of the housework fairy, I'm hoping she will make an appearance and sort out the bedroom lol. In her absence though, I suppose I'd better go lol. :dohh:

Afternoon all,

House fairy here too please! I had so much more planned that I actually got done today. I am sure once I am in the routine of it just being me and Chloe whilst OH is at work I will get more things done! It's not trashed at home but I just wish I could have done more.

Right, I am going to do a few things quickly whilst she is asleep. OH is currenty making smoked sea bass for dinner so I feel guilty sat on the PC whilst he cooking after a day at work.

Speak to you all later ^_^

Well, I think I'm allowed to sit down now. I'm knackered!

I've done an awful lot and now feel like I deserve the cuppa that hubby has ordered me to have before Earl wakes up for his tea (which should be any minute).

Why is there nothing on the telly when you want to have a chill? lol

just had to share this piccy of harry, joshy & caleb with you:
