Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

Does anyone on here manage too get a shower and brekkie? I'm so lucky that my OH is working from home a lot so can have Monty for a bit while i wash and eat, but when OH is out I find it a real struggle to do much at all. I still don't really know how much other people manage to do all day compared with what I do, so I don't have a clue whether I've ever "achieved" anything in comparison to everyone else. So come on, girls: tell us your day's routines (ha ha, as if we have a routine now!) so we can ALL feel that we HAVE achieved something each day.

Sorry? "Routine"?? What is this thing you speak of?
lol
Honestly that list of work is what i AIM to do lol. I usually manage to get a few bits done properly and everything else a bit half arsed lol. Ie: if the kitchens done and the hooverings done then dinner is stuff chucked in the oven for 20 mins and his stuff has to stays scattered in the bedroom for another night. I just have to pick my battles lol.
And i cant count the amount of times iv had to do washes twice coz iv forgotten them in the machine for hours on end.
The first cuple weeks we wer home alone i was totally lost, i tried to do stuff around the house while tommy was in the bouncer or laying down but id have to run back every second coz i thought he was makinga noise or coz hed wake up randomly. Now i can tell what noises mean what and he has clearer sleeping times its got easier. Or at least a little bit more planable (is that a word? lol)
Plus it helps iv got used to being a 1 handed woman now ;)
xx

i know what you mean about learning to be a one handed woman! I reckon I'm gonna have arm muscles to make a gymnast proud the way i'm going. I've mastered the art of breastfeeding with 1 arm n boob, while doing housework with the other, lol.
I look around the house & see so much that needs doing, but only 1/4 of it actually gets done.. and as for showering, brushing my air, going to the loo.... well, forget it! I have to plan everything round Harry... everytime he's quiet/asleep/content in his chair, In run around the house trying to get stuff done, then remember the state I look & go to the loo, brush my teeth, put my hair up... We've taken to doing the washing & drying during the night now, and I have to wait till OH gets home before I shower/bath or anything like that. I must look a right state when i go out & about during the day :dohh:
Kinda feel like not bothering with housework & such coz I'd rather interact with Harry tbh... but if I know someone's coming round, I want the place spotless coz I dont want people thinking I 'can't cope' or anything!

Morning All!!!

LOL housework??? It'll still be there tomorrow, these LO's early days will soon be a distant memory... We'll all wonder where they've gone... I'm glad I got kinda use to chilling in my pj's while being heavily pregnant... Or I'd be worried about being in my pj's till lunch time...

Charlie is doing so well, HV was here yesterday; talk about doing blue arsed fly impression; we'd had my family here for Sunday tea (house was a bomb site) HV called at 10ish to say she was coming at 1!!! LOL only just had lunch fed Charlie, and got dressed when she turned up... Babe is so content must get that from you, you seem so relaxed... (what??? I'm glad I'd got everything done before you came as I was gonna go back to bed when you called, we'd have been lucky if we'd had 3hrs sleep last night)

On a plus side all the rest less nights, housework not getting a look in and only just getting the laundry done has all been worth it Charlie is now weighing 8lb 11.5oz. Almost a complete 1lb gained above her birth weight, she's now awake more during the day and looking about at everything; although her head still takes a bit of holding... She moves it and all of a sudden flop she's back with her head against her chest...

Right hope you're all doing well, I don't get on much as Charlie is a little piglet and DS is being a little sod at the moment. (Last night he opened his hot water bottle in his bed at 9pm, complete bed change, mattress soaked and DS grounded for the week!?! This morning he announced he's broken the zip on his new coat for school, he's had it 3 weeks! As it's absolutely pouring down out side. Last weekend he needed new school shoes as his soles have started to come away from the shoe. Still in need of trainers as he's managed to put a large hole all the way down one side of the trainer!?!? Talk about being exaperated, I just don't know what to do with him, seems as though everytime I talk to him it's to tell him off... Not what I want to do... Argh!?!?! Hope it changes so very soon...)

Mornin' Girls!

Well we are back from out of town. It was great to see our old friends again.

Today I have a mission of finding the correct colour paint for our walls.

I am in the middle of taking down old photos and replacing them with up to date ones and different frames.
When we built the house we upgraded our paint from builders grade to something lighter. They give you tins of "touch up paint" for when you need to cover nail holes or something. Well last night I patched some holes where I had pictures hanging. I then put the paint on. I thought "oh this is going on dark ... " but like with most paints thought it'd be lighter when I came down this morning.

HAH! I have 10 dark patches on my wall. NOT happy! Luckily the paint shop is able to mix me some of the actual wall colour.

Dom ~ I've not have any problems with Autumn being sick. She don't even spit up. She just burps like a 45 year old trucker!!!
She's projectile vomited twice because she pigged her milk too fast. One of them was 4oz all down her daddys jeans :haha:
We did change her night time formula to lactose free tho as she was getting really horrid when she wanted to poo with belly ache. Changing the formula made a big improvement.
Lukes pictures are adorable!

Helz ~ Thanks :) Re smiling, its like one day she discovered she could smile with out needing to fart, and she aint stopped since. It feels so awesome when she's just staring at me and breaks out in a big gummy smile.
Thats awesome with Ethans sleeping!

Kte ~ I only use the sleep sack in the day. Her feet are still a good 8 or 9 inches from the bottom of it lol. I just put her in it as you saw in the photo and lay her in her cot. The sleep sacks come in certain "tog" ratings like duvets. Some of them even have a hole between the legs so you can put them in the car seat whilst still in it. At night I swaddle her and lay a thin blanket over her.
Re moisturizer ~ I put the Johnson and Johnson night time lotion on her every night. Have done since 7 days old. The Dr commented on how good her skin looked the other day! Also in combination with the J&J nighttime bubble bath, it really helps her sleep!
Re the change of home ~ Having a bedtime routine might benefit you in this situation. Because although your home situation is changing, She'll be able to anticipate the bed time routine and become settled easier? I was worried that going out of town would have disrupted Autumn, and her sleeping thru the night, but we kept the same "bottle/bath/bed" routine and it hasn't phased her.

Regarding bedtime and routines. Since week 2, Autumn normally has a bottle around 8 to 10 pm. Then we sit up for a little bit so she can have time with Dad, take her up stairs, bubble bath, massage lotion, swaddle and before I even get chance to turn the light off and walk to her bassinet she's asleep lol. It's like she anticipates it now. She'll generally sleep to 3 or 4am and wake for a feed. I love having the night time routine because it helps her sleep a lot better for that 7 hour block and I get to do some stuff downstairs and actually have bath rather than jump in the shower, wave at the water and jump out again cause she's crying and needs attention ;)

Bonfloss ~ Is she breast fed? I asked the Dr about this also as Autumn can go a few days with out pooping. She said breast milk leaves very little waste to be pooped out and breast fed babies can go up to a week with out pooing. As long as they have 6 to 8 wet nappies a day its ok.

Aimee ~ Autumn don't poo during nappy changes, she saves that for when the clean nappy is all on and shes all nice and dressed then she lets rip! :dohh:

Jlo ~ Thats a really cute picture of Aidyn :)

Waiting4bump ~ Thanks!!! :hugs: Congratulations on your pregnancy :)

Re housework ~ No matter how hard I try this house permanently looks like a babies r us exploded in here! How can a 6 week old make SO much mess?!?!

Flora ~ Thats such a CUTE picture!

Colsy ~ I try and get out the house most days, cause I can't stand sitting in. Plus lil miss really loves being out there.
Autumn wakes up about 6am to come in the bed for a cuddle. About 7/8am she'll start getting fussy for breakfast. I'll give her a feed. Change and get her dressed, then stick her on her play mat for a bit so she can flirt with the purple elephant and her self in the mirror :dohh:
I'll then put her down for a nap and this gives me enough time to check email, shower, dress and grab something to eat. By the time all this has been done it's time for another feed. I'll then change her bum and then out the door we go while she's nice and sleepy. Even if its for a walk around the neighbourhood.
When I have Chiropractor at 9am, that makes things interesting! lol. It's the same routine, we just start about 6am when Daddy gets up.
I try and get what housework I can done in the day, but most the time the OH and I do a big clean on Saturdays when there is 2 of us to get it done quicker. I'll dust the house and clean the bathrooms/kitchen and he'll hoover/mop the floors.

Re being able to do things with one arm. During pregnancy I had to see the Chiro because of my lower back, well now because I hold her in my left arm and do stuff with my right, it keeps popping the tendon out of my left shoulder so I have to go to the Chiro every week for him to work on that! :dohh:

Ok lovelies, I gotta get my butt in to gear! Have a great day :) :hugs:

Hi girls

Aidyn is 4 weeks today, where has the time gone?!

Re. routine, we are not doing too bad, although housework has taken a side step, everyone is in clean clothes, fed and watered so thats a bonus:winkwink:

Having to do the school run everyday means we have to stick to a bit of a routine anyway, so am up, showered and dressed and out the door by 8.50, then when I get in I feed Aidyn and have my breakfast. After that its sorting out the washing from machine and dishwasher which both go on overnite, before I blink its lunchtime and soon time for school run again!!
Trying to take Aidyn for a walk, other than to school, most days and dh helps me to blitz the house properly of a weekend.

All in all we are managing better than I thought we would and still breastfeeding too:happydance:

Evening ladies,

How are we all today?

We've had a lovely day - We had an 11am appointment at the hospital about Earl's arm so we decided to take the bus so that we didn't have to pay parking and could then get to the shops quicker. Earl was really good - he seems to like being in any form of vehicle! lol - and we got there on time (first time for everything! lol).

The Dr took one look at his arm and said that he was obviously 'doing his own thing' and that physio was not going to help now as he's fixed! :happydance: (The Dr was a bit angry because physio were supposed to be in touch to arrange an appointment last week and they haven't. I hadn't even thought about it until now. :dohh: Oh well. But either way, we don't have to go back and he officially doesn't have a bad arm any more.....no more calling him Nemo! lol

We then took the bus back to the shops - Earl demanded his lunch while we were on the bus and hubby fed him....should have seen the looks on people's faces when he started to feed him then and there! lol

We then had a Mcdonalds for lunch and went shopping....we were intending to buy a car seat ready for when it's needed but it turns out that only one of them fits and it's double our budget.....damn it. Looks like we'll have to ask for mothercare vouchers for Christmas and do some saving.........either that or buy a new car!! lol.

We did however get a few little bits....Earl had outgrown all of his hats so we got him some little beanies in the sale. So cute and I'm loving buying blue!! :happydance:

Hope we're all ok..... I'm off to go and sort out my washing. I have a tumble dryer again :happydance: as we got a condenser unit for it today. I don't know why but a new tube was £10.50, and a condenser and tube combo pack was £10.70.

Anyhoo.....catch you later dudes!! xx:kiss:

Evening all,

Well, my housework has also gone to pot but so long as Chloe is fed and dressed etc I am happy! lol. I managed to pop a few washes in when OH comes home. I may have got more done today but my sister came so it was nice to kick back and have a natter rather than stress about the mess, which isn't really a mess. I keep on top of the pots when sterilising Chloe's bottles and making feeds up, usually when she is asleep. The vac doesn't bother her either so when she has a sleep mid-day I can usually give the front room a once over.

I think I will start her on a bedtime routine, but I will start tomorrow, I haven't really given her a set bath time so I will start that at bedtime tomorrow (she has already had a bath today so I don't think twice in one day would be fair!)

OH is intending on going to bed at 6.00 today, I am not sure if it's becasue he is under the weather or if that's his new routine, he starts at 2am now. Its a bit dissapointing really, I feel like we hardly get any time together now . I went to bed with him last night at about 7.30 but it's just not ideal for Chloe, (or me and OH) her feeds are 8pm then about 10:30pm. I will aim to go to bed around her 10:30 feed. She isn't too fussed at the moment but when she wants to spend more time awake it just isn't fair, although I aim to get her to bed for 8pm when she is a bit older, so I am not sure if I should aim for 8pm still now  (Dunno why I feel so confused about this, I just wants what is best and to not complicate things in the long run!) I just feel like I get more broken sleep going to be so early with OH, plus I feel like I am contrantly in bed! I didn't get up today until 9.30 which to be honest was earlier than usual as my sister was coming. The broken sleep makes me more tired in the morning. so its harder to get up. It was much easier when we were going to be at 11:00 the other week as I didn't have as much disrupted sleep. *sigh*

My routine each day depends on how Noah is doing. Yesterday I managed to shower, dress, do washing up and one load of washing (im meant to still be taking it easy due to section) We then went into the city to register Noah.

Today i've managed to shower and dress and make some lunch. Noah has been feeding every 1.5 to 2 hours today and has cried all day apart from when asleep in my arms (typing this one handed!)

Well girls, it sounds as though I'm not doing so badly after all then - next time I reach lunchtime having managed only a shower and toast and lots of Monty time, I will look back on this thread and remember that nearly all of us are in the same situation. Up the Bumpkins - love you all:)

Kte - Bedtimes are confusing me too. I did the 'Bath, Bottle, Bed' routine last night and it stressed Earl out so much that despite him having his bath at 7.30 he was still awake at 9.30. He also ate 10oz in the space of 2 hours.....not sure what that was all about lol. I will give it another go tonight - may be a little quicker with it all tonight as I think I may have been a bit cack-handed with it all last night and I think he got a bit too cold. Not sure but we will try again and see how it goes. If it doesn't work then we may have to just try a quick top and tail followed by the massage and see if that works better rather than a full on bath which can be consigned to the mornings - would prefer it to be at night though as I am planning on going back to work in May and it would make things simpler. Having said that, he's only 3 weeks and a lot can change in 6 months. I'll be watching to see what the more experienced Mum's say about this.

I think you're doing very well to get a shower and toast! and as long as everyone is happy, then that's what's important!!

Hello everyone, i had no idea this thread was here or else i would have joined in earlier! Well done to everyone on the safe arrivals of their babas! I now have 36 pages to catch up on  x

Hi bana welcome to the thread :flower:

Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks that it's been a productive day if I manage to get in the shower :) I figure the house can be cleaned later- she'll only be this small once.

My hubby got home early and is "conversing" with Emma- funny to listen to him babble like a baby back to her. He's trying hard to bond with her despite telling me that he thinks that she doesn't like him- I tried to explain to him that she only likes me better because I have boobies.

Gorgeous pics of the babies- the bumpkins are a good looking bunch!

Had a weird day today. Had very high hopes this morning regarding housework. Got up early and planned to properly sort out the cupboards etc. I feel lyk im hitting a brick wall with cleaning coz every time i do sumthin someone comes home and destroys the area. Fighting a constant battle. So my big plan was to sort out storage so theres less out to mess up, also cox theirs soooo much to clean properly i only ever get half way through which means its back to original state in 5 mins. Lets just say it was a case of 'best laid plans...'
but on a much brighter note:
Tommy was smiling loads n properly yesterday XD XD

wow, that was a lot to catch up on!

OH had the day off today, so we blitzed the house & took it in turns to enteratin Harry, then his grandad came round thisevening too, so he pretty much didn;t sleep all day. I spent the last 4 hours paying for it, as he was over stimulated & over tired & was refusing to feed properly.... The he did 3 massive poos within 1 hour, so that obviously must've been uncomfy for him, lol.
Fed him a lil while ago & he was well & truly booby drunk, fell asleep on me and I was able to change him, dress him for bed & out him down all without him waking up! Never been able to do that before. Hopefully he'll sleep through for a good few hours tonight.

Anyone else's LOs losing their hair??? Harry is so nosy that he reacts & follows every sound, movement & change of light, so he's always moving his head around to see what's going on & he's got a nice bald patch evolving on the back of his head, lol. If he stays this interested in everything, he'll be bald by xmas! :dohh:

great pics everyone. :)

I'm going away to Norfolk next week to introduce Harry to all my family up there. Last time we were there, I was 26 weeks pregnant... Now Harry is already 6 weeks old!!!! Crazy how fast this is all going.

Morning All!?!? (10am still counts as morning...)

Bedtime Routine; I'm not even gonna try getting CC into a bath and bedtime rountine yet, once she's off the night feeds then I'll start... DS was sleeping through at 3 weeks (LOL Here we are at week 3 and we've no sign of loosing the night feeds yet..) We venture to bed about 10/11pm ish she has her last feed in bed; sleeps until her next feed which is about 3am ish and then again until about 6am ish. My alarm goes off at 7.15am (get turned off at the moment until 7.45am; As I'm still buggered at 7.15am. Still managing to make sure DS is fed, dressed, washed and leaving the house for school on time)

Had a chat with DS yesterday, he's all over the place; acheived 2 weeks of groundings in 2 days. The chat turned out to be of benifit... He was so much better in himself this morning... Turns out that my DS is/has started puberty (announced he's getting hairs down stairs and he really smells too) Aww my little boy's not little any more?!?! I'd notice his leg hairs were getting thicker, and his face had changed (they kinda loose the little boy"ness", but had thought no more about it. Same happens when they go from baby to toddler etc..) He's only 10! They still haven't done sex education at school yet either, what else happens to boy's bodies?? I don't have a clue (I was a little girl and I've only got a sister LOL) Mentioned to OH he's gonna have to talk to DS about it all, LOL he replied I can't remember it anymore!?!? Guess 30 years + is along time ago... LMAO Thanks mate... Looks like it's off to the library sometime this week for me... WHAT FUN???? At least it'd explain some of the hassle I've been having with him, doesn't excuse the behaviour but it'd explain some of it...

HV called yesterday (I'm keeping the drippy woman!!!) She phoned to tell me, and arrange the 7 week visit, and to tell me she's posting a cot death leaflet to me. (She knows I'm concerned???) - I wasn't never mentioned anything about cot deaths or anything to her HONESTLY! Bloody woman - when she was here she commented about the large gap between DS and DD ( Not that it's any of her business) she put it down to 2nd hubby etc; OH has been with me since DS was just over 4 months. When DS was a toddler I couldn't have coped with another child, it was a decision I made back then... We'd start our family when I could cope with another... The fact that it has taken 10 years for me to feel as though I can cope (would have been 9 but due to mmc it's 10) DS needed alot of time, attention and care... It was only when he reach 8 years ish that things got easier... I was rather glad when she left, was hoping I'd be seeing the other HV... Typically my luck, I get to keep the drip... LOL I shouldn't be so cruel... Where do some people get off though? She also told me about groups etc in the area (advised me to go to the Sure start centre near my house, they're all young mums there; I mean young 15/16/17 ish, there is a breast feeding group I might have a walk to; as they do the HV clinic straight after... Why would I at 30 want to go to meet lots of young mums???)

OH well guess I'm in for a moan as I've hurt my back during the night and I'm shattered too, fed up of rain rain and more rain... I won't moan anymore; have a great day all... Thank goodness I get some company tomorrow...
