Glad you said something Flora! Her comment was uncalled for, there are ways and means of discussing the two different methods but her saying he would be a grubby baby eating that way and that it is irrisponsbile is totally out of order, that's not how it is at all! Sheesh you should see the state Chloe comes home in from being TW at nursery sometimes, I think she is trying to invent a new hair product!

She sounds a bit up herself to be honest. I hate the toff side with the Annabel Karmel book / recipies. I have been given one of her cook books and yes there are good things in there but they ain't the be all and end all. My fave book is one I got from ASDA for £3!

Also, I think my nursery would BLW, I say think as I have never asked, but they cook the meals on site there for the older children and tbh when they say Chloe has had a potato smilie face I can't imagine them at it with a blender! :haha:

:hugs:

Kte, exactly- she is one of the navy wives & a teacher at a local primary school, who dresses emmaculately & has perfect makeup & her baby is always pristine in designer clothes, lol. 'That' kinda mum, hehe!
Most of the women at the group are lovely & I enjoy going because I know Harry loves it so much, but seriously, some people need to learn to just keep quiet- there are lots of things I dont agree with, but that doesn't make them wrong & it doesn't make me right, so I just keep schtum, but I felt so bad for this other lady as she hadn't been there much before & I really hope she doesn;t get put off & not come again just because of one lady.

Well seen a HV today first time in like 8 months  so Noah was weighed at 17lbs 14 and she said is he still BF I said yes and she said but only twice a day I said no on demand then she said oh if you feed in the night he'll always want it, no he doesn't.

She was concerned how pale I am (deathly white) apparently so she's chasing up the midwife.

All in all though she was nice just a little old fashioned. She said Noah was lovely and seemed full of energy, looks like he might of developed a hernia so need to book in to see a doctor.

Ah, Maffie, what's with Noah's hernia? Is it a prob, or should it just go away of its own accord? As for feeding through the night meaning you'll always be doing it ... strikes me every single person has their own view on this and so there is no correct answer. For example, I have friends who gave up BF ages ago but their babies are still waking up loads each night. On the other hand, you've said yourslef that sometimes Noah sleeps through, as does Monty (VERY occasionally!), and as do some other BF babies. There is no right or wrong - it's just the way the babies are.

Having said all of that, when Monty is feeding - or should I say pretending to feed! - loads at night, I don't think rationally at all and usually spend the night deciding to move him on to formula. Only of course in the morning I change my mind totally ha ha.

Maffie, that's a great weight gain- I imagine Noah & harry are about the same size (he was 17lbs 11oz last week, so probably about 18lbs now) :) I hope you get a comm MW soon hun!

Colsy I think the HV was of the mind set 2 BFs max a day and dont feed in the night as it will encourage him to. Which ive let in one ear and out the other. I'm of the thinking i'll feed Noah when he asks as he doesn't comforty suckle so he does feed when he asks.

Sh said umbilical hernias often happen but to go docs check thats what it is and see if we can leave it. His belly button popped out a couole of days ago but it's not bothering him.

Happy Birthday Kte! Hope you enjoy your birthday dinner out with Nij! Yep, Emma's hat has a chin strap but she's still able to get it off if she's really persistent. I need to make some chin straps for her other sun hats- we don't use them because she's able to take them off. And yes, my bumpkin is always testing me, lol :) Emma does the dropping stuff on the floor game too.

Flora- I'd be furious if someone made a "grubby baby" comment too. All forms of weaning are messy- I'm sure that if we were doing TW, Emma would still find a way to grab the spoon and smear puree on herself and everything within reach.

Maffie- Well, I guess Emma's gonna want boob for the rest of her life if that HV is correct, lol  I hope Noah's hernia isn't anything to worry about. My dad actually developed one a couple years ago and they are just keeping an eye on it- hopefully Noah won't need surgery either.

Chaos- hope your U/S goes okay :hugs:

We had another bad night last night. I think we are going through some separation anxiety- argh- and can't get Emma to sleep in her crib. Hubby intervened and brought Emma into bed with us (it's a bad night when he actually gets his butt outta bed to help!). We put her between us and she first snuggled right up to me, clinging me around the neck with her head buried in my chest. Once she calmed down, she decided it was time to play with daddy (now 1am!) and kept hugging him and then sitting up to see why he was ignoring her, babbling "mum mum mum". It was pretty cute though and I was trying not to giggle when she was doing that :) Hubby wants to move the pack n play back into our room and have her sleep in our room again- I never thought he'd be the softie. I feel like we taking steps backwards with Emma's sleeping and am torn- I'm definitely a "go with the flow" type but it's frustrating to make a some progress towards a good night's sleep, only to have these set backs.

Anyhoo, just having a quiet day here, catching up on laundry and might go for a walk later if the weather cooperates. :hugs: to those that need them!

Spoke to work not sure how im going to cope 15 hours i'll be out including travel time, how can he of done this where i have to leave my child that long all because he wanted to go shagging.

I can imagine how when im heavily pregnant i'll cope on 4 commuter trains a day.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for the wishes. I've got my 'interview' at the museum tomorrow but we will see how we get on.

Kte - Happy Birthday!!!!! :happydance: It's my birthday in 5 weeks time (7th September) and it's also Colsy's, just so we all remember! he he (cheeky of me I' know!)

Flora - Woohoo you go girl!!! :happydance: I've done a combo with Earl and he will eat anything any-which-way he can! Should see the state of the floor after a meal! I don't think it matters how a baby is weaned, it's a messy business and they all need to learn the same skills. It's like learning to read or write....there are different methods to get to the same ends. Good on your for standing up to her. I had to have a bit of a word with a woman once when he saw me offering Earl a bit of my sandwich - she said that I should have wiped his hands first (I had but it was his 2nd piece so you can imagine the mess lol - chicken and stuffing sandwich lol) and that if he choked the nearest hospital is miles away.....Hmmm so I shouldn't feed him at all? I also don't get where people come from. As you said you had the eldest babies there.....even their babies are going to get 'grubby' at some stage thanks to finger foods....someone should warn her so she can cover her suede sofa and cream carpets in preparation! :haha: Sorry - I'm in one of them tonight! lol

Bit of good news from me! I've lost 3lb!! Cut down the portion sizes and not eating snacks (had a bad habit of having 2 breakfasts - 1 with Earl then one with hubby!) and tried to get off my bottom a bit more lol! Was loitering at 11stone and didn't like it lol.....now at 10st 11 and planning on trying to get down to 10st5 which was my weight at my wedding. Do you know I didn't put on ANY weight with Earl, just managed to add half a stone since he started weaning

Right....best be off to get some more applications tracked down. Have fun everyone :flower:

Oh and Flora - I forgot to say. We're looking for anywhere in East Anglia really. As long as hubby can commute to UEA relatively easily then we don't care. I just need a job and I'm not picky about what or where. I'm that close to ringing the jam factory (I'm currently in Tiptree) on Monday and seeing about going onto their production line!

Well girls, I just got back from the OB ... the news isn't the best.

I have a huge cist on my right ovary, which explains some of the pain. He said that its hard to tell on ultrasound .. but he suspects it might be a tube pregnancy. They took bloods just now to look at my levels and see if they are still there.

He said if it is, they can try and give me a pill to dissolve it, and if that don't work I'll need surgery .. which I guess means taking the tube out. I gotta call in the AM for the results, he said to have a light breakfast only in case I do need the surgery.

Things just keep getting more awesome, huh?

:hugs: Chaos, that sounds awful either way. I'm so sorry hun

Aimee, I'll ask my dad if he knows of anything going. I hope you're settling in ok up there though. (or down there from where you were before)

Chaos, :hugs:

Maffie, :hugs:

Kte, hope you had a lovely evening.

Kaites, I love your cycle/beach pix  You have a lovely-looking little girl there :baby: ... all you need now (like me) is for her sleep to improve! (I'm going to post about our sleep probs later on - I'm getting frustrated to say the least. Today we've been up since just after 4.30am :growlmad:.)

Aimee, I hope the job hunting gets better. I am sure you've already thought about this, but if you get a not-well-paid job (e.g. the Tiptree factory) is is actually worth your while, in terms of then having to pay childcare etc.? I am not advocating this as such, but I do see how people get into that vicious circle of them being better off by NOT working. BTW, birthday-buddy, what are you hoping to get for your birthday this year? I need some ideas! All I can think of are M&S vouchers and National Trust membership.

Off to work I go now. Ooooh, just thought, to those who I discussed with earlier in the week, we've gone down the route of a tent travel cot rather than a more trad travel cot. I won a Nomad one on eBay last night - it's just the right side of Sheffield for me to collect it within 20mins, and I got it for less than half the price of a brand-new one :happydance:.

Have any of you used the Sleep Sense programme? If so, any thoughts? In particular, any idea why it would be worth my while trying it if we've already tried to follow the No Cry Sleep book? Thanks, girls. BTW,. if any of you are REALLY interested in talking sleep ideas, then I've just posted this is Baby Club: https://www.babyandbump.com/baby-cl...-sleep-he-wakes-middle-night.html#post6304090

Thanks girls ..

Its just before 6am right now .. I've been in a lot of pain over night and throwing up because if it. I have a lot of pressure on my right side. I called the oncall OB last night and he said he will have the blood test results first thing, he said hes on call and already at the hospital and to go in if it got so unbearable. I've found a position laying down where it don't hurt so I've been on the sofa all night waiting for the clock to say the time to call! Urgh this sucks. He said even if its just a cyst I might need an op today to take it out if its causing me this much pain.
