Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

Quickie question.....can you get sleepers without feet? Earl is growing out of his 0-3 months because of his long legs and I would rather not butcher perfectly good baby-gro's ( that I plan to recycle with baby number 2 lol).

Yep, we've got some baby nighties and also quite a few babygrows without feet. xx

OOh OOh - where from? how much? so many questions!! lol

Good old eBay - plus friends who've had babies. I can say hand on heart that I haven't bought a single brand-new item of baby clothing! We've been given a few bits as presents, but almost all Monty's clothes at the mo are second hand - and yet most of them look almost brand new because babies don't wear stuff for very long. Happy searching!

Thanks flora I got 2 oz off a boob an hour after Noah had finished on it. I'm using an avent manual pump and must say the milk comes out fast. I'll keep on with it so I can build it up. My other boob leaks loads when feeding so I have some shields designed to save leakage.
do yo9u have the avent shiedly things to collect the letdown? those are what i have n i'm quite impressed- was\surprised how much it collected while harry was feeding from the other. waste not want not i say!

Thanks for your help on my post ladies :hugs: :flower:. I went to the doctors, got an appointment this morning, for some reason I convinced myself it was Saturday?!? So I was so very relieved it was Friday and I could go. The doctor had to examine me and said it's defo anal fissure :nope:

Chloe just had a Health Visitor visit and she now weighs 8lbs 11oz :shock: Were now on a mission to spread her feeds apart a bit more as although she is healthy that's a huge jump from last week when she was only 7lbs 8oz!

Baby.love :wave: :hugs:

I was so annoyed when expressing for Chloe about the waste, how did I miss a product like that?!? :dohh: Ah well, sadly too late now but I will know for future if we ever decide to have another LO.

Have also posted re washing reusable nappies. https://www.babyandbump.com/natural-parenting/225243-washing-nappies.html#post3615092 Your opinions are sought :)

Closy ~ I've tried the teatree oil soaking option with a few inches of water (instructions I followed was 4/5 drops to 1 inch of water, I filled my bucket up to about 5 inches and found that they washed well) I've also tried napisan soaking in my bucket. (They too washed well)

I've stuck too the napisan option, I do a nappy wash each evening (I just don't like nappies lying in soak too long, its fine now as the babes are so small their nappies aren't too dirty and don't really smell (yet?!?) Once they get bigger and start on the solids it soon changes (LOL)

I rinse the nappies through in warm water, ring them out before washing them in the washer. If we've a few bad pooy nappies I will prewash them with napisan, and wash at 90, but if they're not too bad I just wash them at 60. I always rinse them through even though they've been in soak all day, as I don't like the idea of pooy nappies in my washer. I have been known to even put my washer on an full cycle empty after I've washed OH uniform after he's had an accident with the diesel at work. So, can you see what I'd be like if I didn't rinse them through... (My washer would be on a wash all the time with now't in it...) Anyway, that's what I do... Thank goodness for my drier.

(LOL, once the heatings on more, I will just put them on the airer near a radiator before bed and hope they're dry by morning; but at the moment heatings not on much...)

Good Afternoon All...

I'm sorry to hear that some of you are having some really sleepless nights, I'm managing to grab a few zzz's now, not too many; just enough... We had a change in patten last night; We had a 5 hr gap inbetween feeds... WOW!?! Still felt crappy this morning though... 1.30am until 6.30am LOL got up at 8ish, as I heard my Mum talking to DS downstairs... Hehehe nice surprise, so managed to have a brew and a coffee and get dressed before dressing and feeding CC...

Spent the morning out and about with my Mum, did a little xmas shopping; had coffee and fed CC whilst out and about too... Has anyone had issues with some people when breast feeding babes when out and about??? I've been quite lucky, apart from a few nudges, smiles and winks from people I've found the ones that have comeout of their way to talk to me have said some very positive comments and been very nice... Little old ladies seem to be instantly attracted to babe when she's eating LOL... OH is forever asking who was that? What was she saying? LOL Normally isn't she beautiful and it nice to see babe being fed, it's so natural etc...

Managed to get DS a puberty book in WHSmiths, My changing body... So we're gonna have a look through when he's back from the shop; I forgot cat food!!! LOL not the flavour of the day...

I hope you girls struggling with the zzz's manage to catch some... At least it's the weekend!?!?! OH is working tomorrow, I'm thinking about walking DS & babe to the local farmer market and maybe getting the bus back, if not we'll walk back; playing it by ear... LOL it's only a 6 mile round trip... What a way to pass a few hours... I hear a babe shouting!?!?!

Catch you all later xxxx

Well the funeral didn't go as badly as I thought. It was a beautiful service and so many people from school turned up. I did cry a couple of times but I wasn't as bad as I was worried I would be. Took James to the wake for 20 minutes to meet people and then came home.

Hi ladies!

Haven't been able to come on here in a while- hubby is done work for the season (works in landscaping and there's nothing to landscape once the snow flies!) so I have an extra set of hands at home which rocks but he's keeping me busy with Christmas shopping outings and walks.

Colsy- I pretty much do the same as you with the cloth diapers but add an extra rinse at the end and a vinegar rinse during the first rinse cycle. I've heard of some people adding a few drops of tea tree oil to the wash too since it's an antibacterial. I haven't done it yet since I'm sensitive to tea tree oil and Emma seems to have sensitive skin too. I also made fleece liners out of fleece that I bought at the fabric store- cheap so I am more likely to toss them if they get too stained and I give them a bleach soaking on their own every so often too (I wouldn't want to damage the actual diapers with bleach). Hope that helps a little- I'm addicted to cloth now :)

Aimee-lou- I have a bunch of sleepers without feet for Emma since she's already in 6 mth sleepers (chubby and long baby). I don't know if you can get Carters brand of sleepers in the UK, but they make a lot of footless sleepers.

Maffie- I have an electric pump and have attempted to feed Emma on one boob while pumping on the other- makes it go faster since it's so boring but takes a bit of juggling!

littlekitten :hugs:

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Hey Girls!

Well lil Miss Autumn has been quite grumpy the last couple days due to cradle cap around her ears .. its driving her batty with itching, I have to hold her arms down or swaddle her really tight to go to sleep or else her hands are all up in it rubbing it raw. We spent most of last night with a cool flannel on them. It kinda made me giggle because as soon as I put the flannel against her face a big smile spread across it and she fell right to sleep!
We went to see the pediatrician today and she told us to put some 0.5% hydro cortisone cream on it to help the itch and also mineral oil to help the dryness.

So hopefully this helps her have a better nights sleep!!

They weighted her whilst we were there and she is now 11lb 7oz :shock:

Aimee ~ Yay for awesome nights! :) I have sleepers with out feet!

Maffie ~ Autumn loves the bath too. She can be screaming at the top of her lungs .. I'll put her in the bath and she's one big smile! I can't wait till the summer when she'll be big enough for the pool.

Colsy ~ Re green poo, take a look at this websites "Diaper Decoder" .. it has pictures of babies poop and tells you what might be going on re colour/consistency etc. https://similac.com/feeding-nutrition/diaper-decoder
Theres one that has bright green floresant poop and it says:

Bright GreenAKA: Foremilk/Hindmilk Imbalance
Looks Like: Green, Frothy Poop

Breast-fed babies who receive more foremilk than hindmilk sometimes have bright green baby poop.

What Does It Mean?

When your breast-fed baby nurses for short periods of time on each breast, he might get more foremilk, which is sweeter and thinner, and less hindmilk, which is richer and fattier. Your baby might need to nurse longer on each side in order to ensure enough hind-milk is consumed during each feeding. Sometimes a virus will turn your baby's stools bright green. If your baby is fussy and seems uncomfortable, contact your health care provider.
What Should I Do?

Try not to switch your baby to your other breast until you've nursed at least 20 minutes on one side.

Contact your health care professional right away if you see:

* Blood or mucus in stools
* Fever
* Vomiting
* Irritability
* Refusal to eat
* Decreased or dark-colored urine
* Decreased activity

Kte ~ Glad the Dr gave you some stuff to help your pain.

Eswift ~ Glad you found a book for your son! Hopefully it will make things easier.

Ok lil miss is needing a bath and to be put to bed. Have a great night :)

Hey Girls,

I thought I'd just share a video of Autumn talking away to the video camera to day :kiss:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAQJTfYWPBk

Well .. this was the first part of it. I left the video camera running whilst I went and made a bottle as we were about to run out the door. I just now sat down to have a look at it hoping there'd be a smiling section ... when I came across ... this ... (Make sure you have your sound on)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kafq18QI5m8

Thats my Daughter .. right there .. TOTAL lady. I'm SO saving that for when she brings her BFs home :rofl:

Good morning everyone,

I think I have an early riser on my hands. Earl has, for the last 3 days, worken up at 5.30am and ZING! we're very much awake - At the moment he's sat in his chair examining his hands lol (Oh to be so easily entertained once again! lol)

While I don't want to speak too soon, I think Earl really likes his bedtimes now. Last night I insisted that at 8.30 we go up and have a wash and brush up and change of clothes, Hubby went up and had a bath while I fed him after. As soon as the bottle hit his lips he was out like a light. I managed to get him down in 20 minutes and was in bed myself after a glorious soak at 10.15! Earl then slept until 1.30! took a full 4oz then went down in less than 40 minutes and here we are after a 5.30 wake up. I even washed his hair last night which I thought may have freaked him out slightly but far from it (he seems to like being upside down and the warm water spalshing around him. Just have to convince him that baths are his friend now lol) The Bedtime Action Plan (BAP lol) is working lol :happydance:

Thanks for the tip offs about the footless sleepers....I am now scouring the net looking for some. However, it may be too late as I had no choice last night but to consign half his grows to the 'no longer fits' box :nope: Thankfully we still have quite a few that fit thanks to some of hubby's workmates who donated all of their sons things (they were on team yellow too so unfortunately Earl is still a vision in beige for another few weeks lol)

Oh no, we have the hiccups (he gets them after every meal and they really stress him out unless his dummy is securely in place!) so best be off.

Have a lovely day ladies....I have to do the CTC/CB paperwork today and get it sent off. Hoping that it will start to be paid pretty pronto as it would be nice to have the extra cash before christmas lets be honest lol.

Be on later xx

Morning all well i'm feeling sleep deprived. Noah has taken to lots of crying, oh says he's aware if he cries he gets attention, I just hate seeing him upset. I even contemplated a dummy last night but oh says we need to persevere :shrug: Noah now isn't settling at night, he isn't hungry or wet but just cries until he gets picked up. I know when it's trapped wind/colicky has he cries when he's held too. Not sure what to do for the best.

Aimee I got footless baby grows from TX Maxx and Boots, how long is Earl now? Noah was 53cm at birth and definitely seems longer now. I have some simple white babygros with feet in from boots and they are really long. They are still way too long for Noah.

Chaos Autumn is just adorable. Reminds me I must start getting the video camera out.

My hubby says the same thing but i've been assured (i put a thread up about Earl's clingyness last week) that at 4 weeks they are far too young to know to do anything deliberately.

Thanks for the tips.....He's actually in a boots one today and it's slightly too long on the leg for him (aces!!) so may have to keep an eye out on ebay for some more......those and mothercare seem to be the way firward at the moment but he is rapidly running out of room in them all lol. No idea how long (keep meaning to get out the tape measure) but he was 52.3cm at birth and has expanded massively (newborn fitted him then!!)

EDIT: Just taken the tape measure to him.....57cm!! ( well ish - I couldn't tell as he was asleep and I didn't want to move him too much.) According to my red book that puts him at the 91st percentile for his age!! Eeek no wonder my arms ache (that and he weighs 11lb!! lol)

I just cant find a reason for the crying at night and it instantly stops as soon as he is picked up.

Mornin' Loves!

Well let me tell you, after 3 nights of Autumn being a little horror because her face is driving her batty with itching, we actually got sleep last night!!! 945pm to 5.15am and now at 8am she wants to get up! That hydro cortisone cream worked like a dream!! I bathed her and whilst she was in there I put mineral oil around her ears (supposed to work better on wet skin?) and then after I had massaged her night lotion in I rubbed some hydro cortisone cream in. It made me laugh cause she was like a dog when you scratch their ears, all rubbing her ear in to my fingers.
Well she passed out before I even got to swaddle her, so I'm guessing it gave her instant relief!!

Aimee ~ Thats awesome news regarding Earls sleeping! Hopefully he'll start going longer for you now he's getting is night routine down :)

Maffie ~ Sorry you're feeling sleep deprived :( Ya know, sometimes comfort is all they want. The Dr put it to me like this: They spent a long time inside us hearing our heart beat, voice etc and that to them is the best comfort in the world, so when we pick them up and they feel us breathing and can hear our heartbeat it settles them, basically baby just wants mummy.
When I was getting frustrated and the Dr put it like that it me it kinda broke my heart a bit and made me feel guilty.
Re dummy .. ya know you might want to try it.. there's nothing wrong with it .. babies sooth them selves by sucking. Autumn has one .. 9/10 she just does not take it, like last night she just spat it out, but on occasion she likes to fall asleep with it in her mouth.
If he's got trapped wind .. have you tried "cycling" his legs. This get AWSOME man farts out of Autumn :rofl: I'll do it in the bath .. you take both leaves and push them so knees are bend and they are against the belly, them you move pull them straight, but you do this in a circular clockwise movement if that makes sense? I read it helps get the gut moving and gets the gas out. (I love the intewebs for answers! lol)
Hope things improve for you :hugs:

So husband is on baby duty today whilst I go and see Twilight!!

I just cant find a reason for the crying at night and it instantly stops as soon as he is picked up.

i have this with harry, but only in the afternoons/evenings; i'm not sure why either, but as soon as i pick him up, he's fine. it's kinda frustrating not knowing what's wrong with him, n i'm reluctant to let him sleep on me all the time from holding him, because i dont want him to get used to only falling asleep while being held, iyswim?

we had a great night; harry slept from 11pm til 6am!!!! i feel totally rejuvinated! i was kinda worried at first that he'd be starving & i ummed n arghed over whether to wake him up at 4am for his usual feed, but oh said to leave him, so i did. he woke up at 6, with a big yawn n stratch, then looked at me, as if to say, oh it's you again!' he latched on nicely then fed for 40mins from 1 boob, then laid on my lap smiling away at his daddy, who he seems to utterly adore... bout an hour later, he started rooting for me, so he then fed a further 45 mins on the other boob before i got him washed n dressed n laid him on his playmat. i made myself a cuppa, n when i came to sit on the floor to play with him, he was asleep again n didnt wake up till 11am! i feel well n truly blessed, lol.

we're off to norfolk tomorrow to stay with my dad for a week so he can meet all my grandparents, aunties, uncles etc ect. really looking forward to it... i'm sure harry will be spolied rotten all week now, lol.

chaos- autumn is just gorgeous!!!!!!

right, better go as i'm making fairy cakes with my nephew this afternoon :)

have a great weekend everyone!

Things aren't good - any comments appreciated on this post: https://www.babyandbump.com/baby-cl...ach-time-he-poos-passes-wind.html#post3625225

We had what my OH has described as the worst night yet. My darling baby is just not right but it's hard to know whether we should be dealing with doctors here, because he's still feeding reasonably well and he doesn't seem to have a temperature. But surely it's not right for a little baby to literally scream in pain each time he passes wind? And we're talking LOTS of wind. I hate to see him hurting. It is really upsetting me :cry: Any ideas?

On a brighter note, Florabean I am really pleased to hear that Harry gave you some fab long hours of sleep :thumbup:

Earl has this in the afternoons too - we think it's a bit of reflux but he's not too bad at the moment. He tends to be ok when he goes to bed as long as I give him a double dose of infacol and burp him really really well! At the moment though he's feeding every 2-3 hours and then 4-5oz at a time during the day so I reckon the sheer volume of food is probably to blame rather than anything physical.

Evening ladies,

Chloe has had a busy day with aunts, uncles and cousins visiting today, she has her gransparents over soon and then tomorrow my parents so obviously her other grandparents! She is enjoying a snooze on the couch with her daddy :cloud9:

She gets very unsettled 6 - 8 ish at night too, usually wind. We did use infacol once but she was just sick all over so maybe that was a bad idea, it worked a little too well. The HV showed us some baby massage techniques to do when we change her nappy to help ease her. She also has a dummy but doesn't take to it all the time, sometimes it settles her other times she just pops it back out her mouth.

I am feeling a little under the weather with my toilet problem. Things are moving slowly :blush: so I suppose that is good. It's just getting me down, I am worried as it takes me a while to go and poor Chloe woke up hungry and was screaming her head off but I was stuck in the bathroom :shrug: I just hope it gets better in the next few days. No one ever warns you of these things post pregnancy, must be in the small print somewhere!

Chaos ~ Really lovely vids of Autumn :D I'm sure she will love you showing everyone the 2nd one when she is older! :haha: I'm sure everyone will agree she is a cute baby and will let her off!

Maffie ~ sorry to hear you are having a hard time, I am sure giving him a few cuddles to to settle him and then sneekily pop him into his bed shouldn't hurt too much at the moment. I usually pop Chloe on my chest, she is on her tummy and we have a pre-bedtime snuggle. There is nothing wrong with trying a dummy either, anything for a bit of extra sleep! Do what you feel you need to do for your little man and not what your OH thinks as that may be frustrating you and rubbing off? :hugs:

Flora ~ Have a good time in Norfolk and fun making the cakes!

Aimee ~ Earl is doing you proud at night!

Cosly ~ hope Monty feels better soon :flower:

Okay Chaos, you inspired me, here is a vid I took of Chloe the other day, it was the first time she had got excited or interested in something! :cloud9:

https://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g110/Kitty_fantastic_o/Chloe%20Louise/th_ChloePlaying.jpg

Aww the videos are so cute. Giggled at your 2nd one chaos. I'm struggling to get James off to sleep tonight. He's had 4oz of milk, burped well and won't take any more milk. But he just keeps crying when I put him down. I'm so hungry. Serves me right for wrapping christmas presents instead of eating when he was asleep I guess. Got him snuggled in on the sofa now and hopefully he will fall asleep and I can put him down.
