Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

Kte: chloe is adorable :)
Colsy: I'm so sorry to hear your LO is having such troubles... I dont have any advice, but I really hope things lok up for you soon & you are able to get to the bottom of things.

just wanted to pop by & say have a lovely week everyone. Not sure how much (if any) inet access I'll have at my dad's, so i probable wont be online til next sunday when we get back... see ya'll later! :hugs:

Morning everyone!!

Reasonable night i reckon - Down by 9.30, up at 2.30!!!! We then had 2 hours and 8oz of milk before going down again 4.30-7.30! Hubby has a long day at work today....I hate it when he works Sundays - his hours are so long. 8am-7pm!!

I am however not feeling good at all! I've got really bad stomach ache, PMT that could down an elephant and a headache that is threatening to morph into a migraine - this is about 10 months worth of pre-AF symptoms - I#m not a jovial rabbit!! :growlmad::nope:

I hope we're all ok

:hugs: colsy, just seen your post and I'm sorry Monty is suffering. personally i would use my position as a new mother and get him seen by the gp. At least then you'll then know how to tackle it.

Have a nice Sunday everyone. I'm off to play with Earl for a bit......he seems to be on an awake phase! xx

Awww, bless you - hope you feel better ASAP. Feels sooo odd talking about period pains etc. again. This is like TTC all over again! As I'm BF, I have no idea when I'll be going down the period pains path again - but am def hoping that I am like lots of women who claim the pains are not so bad once they've had a baby. Hope it soon passes, Aimee. xx

P.S. Another bad night. Serves me right for making some smug comment to OH about how things were soooo much btter now and how we'd turned the corner. Oh well ...

Thanks hun...in the grand scheme of things it's not that bad and I still have patience for family members so that's a bonus....I don't know what I'd do if Earl was causing my temper to fray, I'd be so upset with myself.

I know what you mean - it's weird talking about AF again! My mum told me that her periods got worse when she'd had me. Considering I was on the pill to control my periods (timings, pains, the works), I'd been dreading this! I didn't expect it to come along quite so quickly though, and still no sign of anything (hubby will be pleased as he's worried we may have had a slip up earlier in the week  - neither of us would want that to happen if we're honest).

Anyhoo, enough about that sort of thing lol

Sorry you had a bad night. I wasn't best pleased that Earl kept me awake for a whole 2 hours last night wanting to play. He was swinging his arms around and squealing away which is his 'do something' attitude lol. I had basically got to a point where if it had gone on any longer I would go and get hubby, I put him down to take my mug through to the kitchen, came back and he had passed out.....blooming typical lol. :dohh: He did the same thing to me this morning so I think I'm going to have to start letting him cry it out during the day as he gets soooooooo tired but just wont sleep....poor little mite.

Ooh I hear stirrings....

btw - is anyone else's LO outgrowing their moses? We have 2 and one is almost too short (about 2-3 inches of head room left) and one is too narrow and he doesn't like it (cries as soon as you put him down in it). We're moving him into his cot at night next week (1 month) but I'm in two minds as to whether I should leave him in his moses during the day or break out the travel cot. What's everyone else doing?

Thanks ladies (as you can probably tell my mood has improved slightly....I can thank our good friend Dairy Milk!! lol) xx

:hugs:

Morning ladies. Had a bit of a stressful night last night. James just wouldn't settle to sleep and managed about half an hour between 8.30pm and 1.30am. After he had his feed at 12.30 he just kept crying. Ended up tucking him right in against my body, shhing him and rocking him to get him to sleep. Think he had got overtired and couldn't get to sleep. Had tried feeding him more but he was just spitting it out. He then slept from 1.30am to 7.30am so he was obviously knackered. Then he went straight down without a fuss after his feed and slept til 11.30am! Now he is playing on the floor lol after having only taken 2.5ozs.

Afternoon all, well Noah wouldn't settle again last night, he woke at 11.30 for a feed and then wasn't happy at all, didnt sleep then at all, got to 3.30 for his next feed and he'd ate so frantically he vomited, he was so upset he had a little feed then at 4.30 then a feed at 5.30. Poor mite eventually went to sleep at 6am and woke at 11.

Colsy Noah is very good at crying when he poos/passes wind I find it so upsetting too. It's like I cant console him. Through the day he's fine but at night he's like a different child.

Wow lots has happened since i was last on. Took me ages to read through all that! Then again i think time is going much quicker since tommys bin around. Still feels like we only got him home 5 mins ago but hes nearly 7 weeks!!
Kte - Thank u so much, thats rlly nice to hear. The last thing id want is 4 tommy to lose out coz of bad timing. I rlly am loving being a mummy even if i didnt expect it yet lol! And have been chatting to a young mums key worker and apparenly there are courses that r available to me to do with creches etc which would actually put me in a better stead educationally than if i hadnt had him - weird huh? Iv already got my a levels and now im able to do sum nvqs which should be fun. I actually enjoy learning and was gutted i wouldnt be able to do uni this year but this way i can actually egt sumthin out of this year as well as spending all my time with tommy :D Also Chloe is so cute, :)
Chaos - Autumn is adorable, lol i love the 2nd video
Colsy - lol i think if periods r meant to be better after havinga baby its probably just becoz they pale in comparison, though i have heard that the womb kinda resets itself after childbirth. Their was a woman who never had periods and was told she was pretty much infertile had years of ivf and eventually had baby. After he was born she suddenly startd getting normal periods and is fertile?!?!?!? Was on 'I didn't know i was pregnant'. Lol strangely enough i find that program quite interesting considering my experience.
Maffie - Tommy loves his baths too, iv looked into swimming and apparantly classes run from when their about 12 weeks. Im not sure if id be comfortable taking him that early on but i definatley want to in the near future. Sorry to hear your struggeling with Noah at night, FX things will get better soon.
Baby.love - Its nice to see your back and i hope that all ur family r ok. Sounds like sienna's doing really well!
Florabean - I love your new avatar - soooo sweet! Its a rlly lovely picture :)
Well im quite pleased with myself. Tommy went down from mdnight till 4 and then till half 8, so i slept well and have had a very productive day so far! Tommy had a top and tail and then happily sat in the bouncer for an hour n half (!!!!) and watched me tidy and clean up the kitchen while i chatted to him. Then a nappy change and was happy to be propped up on the sofa while i tidied and hoovered the living and dining room. Then a cuddle and he fell asleep so got a late breakfast and a chance to sort my emails :)
Hopefully the day will continue as its started!
Hope everyones had a nice morning! xxxx
Ps thought id jump on the video bandwagon and show off tommy, a few days ago (in his big boy clothes :p:happydance::p)

Morning ladies!

Colsy- sorry to hear Monty is giving you troubles. We've had problems with Emma not settling and crying for no reason for long periods too. I ended up reading "happiest baby on the block" because I figured that wind couldn't be causing her colic all of the time. The book talks about the 5 S's- swaddling, swinging, shushing, putting them on their side and sucking and how to do all of them at once to calm a crying baby. I was a little skeptical but with a bit of patience, it works for us most of the time. I hope things improve for you soon- I hear colic peaks around 6 weeks.

Flora- hope you have a fun week!

Aimee-lou- Emma is growing out of her "newborn napper" in the pack n'play travel cot. Her legs dangle over the end of it so we'll be taking that attachment off pretty soon. Too bad since it sort of cocoons her and keeps her head up a little, helping with wind and reflux. Sounds like Earl is growing like a weed too! Last night I put away more of Emma's 3 mth clothes and got out some of the 6-9 mth stuff (the stuff that looks like it's made small)- I've got an insanely big baby! I'm starting to get a little concerned though- I did a quick weigh on the bathroom scale on Monday and she was 15 lbs! I realize it's not super accurate but it does give a decent estimate. We've got our next gp appt on Dec 7 so I guess I'll find out if I should worry then.

littlekitten and maffie- sorry to hear you've had rough nights. Emma gets herself overtired too and can't get to sleep. It's like she has a hard time tuning the world out. Everyone comments on how alert she is and at first I was all proud but now I'm realizing that it is a curse :)

Chaos, Kte, KrisKitten- precious videos! :)

I was trying to get some cute pics of Emma in her Bumbo yesterday and she kept slumping over. Next thing I know she's blasting 3 giant farts and fills her diaper to near-overflowing, followed by a big burp- turns out the Bumbo works great with trapped wind. We've been calling it the "poo ejector seat" :)

Anyway, hope you're all having lovely weekends! :hugs: to those that need them

Afternoon All!

Where do you all find the time??? I'm ok but shattered! Plus think I've a cold starting but can't help feeling a couple of good night sleeps and all would be well again... LOL Wishful thinking... Think CC had a growth spurt again, I finally got her to settle at 3.30am, and wham she was back awake at 6.30am... I had a weepy morning at breakfast, set too in our bedroom, I so want to be back to normal for Christmas... I have also managed to get Christmas decs dug out and my clothes (all in need of washing but hey, it a start!)...

We had a long day yesterday, up early to take OH to work so I could have the car; and aventually collected him again at 9.30ish... DS is a grump too, OH seems relatively normal; CC is now asleep... I hope she sleeps so much better tonight...

Maffie ~ You have my sympathy girl. Night time seems to be the hardest time to settle them doesn't it. CC wasn't hungry, wasn't windy, wasn't needing a clean nappy (I checked) I decided at 2.45am she was just being a pest because she could... LOL We ended up snuggled together in the rocking chair at the top of the stairs looking at the stars... It would have been a lovely snuggly time if I hadn't felt so tired... But I wasn't turning all the lights on, nor the tv; she will learn that night time is quite time (DS was a lovely babe, at little bugger for staying awake when he got older, I couldn't manage the 3 week cycle of not sleeping when he was a tot; he's still is an early riser...)

OH is plumbing in the radiators into the new rooms, hopefully; no more water bottles soaking mattresses now! Next weekend, we're flooring to loft, emptying our room and the cupboard at the top of the stairs... Then I can finish the nursery off for CC... (with my sisters & DS's help too)

Colsy ~ Hope Monty is ok, trust your feelings girl. I had so many fall outs with the GP's when DS was a tot, he had chest infections as if they were going out of fashion; frequently ending up at A & E with him... You know your child, and you know when they're out of sorts...

Right I'm off to start tea, Roast pork and trimings...

Thanks Kaites....

I don't think you should worry about her weight....sounds like she is thriving to me. At 3 weeks Earl was weighing 11lb so I can see him being in a similar curve. He's a big lad and he keeps on growing.....as long as he's healthy and happy thats all that matters. I'm just a bit gutted as some of the clothes that we were given quite obviously wont fit him now and he wont have chance to wear them. Hubby and I were talking and said that we should hope for another boy lol.....had to pack away the most adorable grow with pooh and tigger all over it. I loved it, but it was about 3 inches too short when I laid it accross him lol.

I think I will keep him in the moses as long as possible as I don't want too much to be disrupted next week when he goes into his cot. He looks so big in it but I laid him in his cot yesterday to judge where to tuck his blankets in and he looked tiny!! lol I take it as long as there is enough head room to put them in without having to fold them, we'll be ok  The 'napper' sounds fab....I've not seen one of them before but I should think they are very useful indeed.

Finny story.....

We've just got back from a nice walk. I popped Earl into his infant carried and strapped him into me and he fell straight off to sleep. We were about half way to the postbox when I looked down and saw him looking up at me, he looked like he was smiling. He then let out the biggest belch (right in my face I hasten to add!!), coo'd then snuggled in back to sleep! It was just hilarious!!

Emily how do you have the energy to cook dinner? I'm too whacked, ive managed an hours nap but still feel rough. I have tummy ache and im not sure if its period pains or something else. It hurts though.

My asthma is playing up in this horrid damp house so im wheezy too, gosh im grumpy tired cow at the moment

Help girls!! I'm at it again!!

Just got Earl a cot light show thingy off ebay for £4.50!

I thought I had conquered my ebay addiction but i had to go to the dark side to get Earl's cot bedding as wasn't going to pay £24 for 2 cellular blankets!! For the same money I got a mobile, 2 cellulars and a fleece! God i love Ebay!! lol

Maffie - I hope you feel better soon hun. I've had a dull ache in my tummy for 2 days now. I thought it was period pains but I actually think it's hunger /thirst as I have only been picking at food and not really drinking much for the last 4 weeks!! Still can't really face big meals but I am trying to eat properly now.

Speaking of tea....somerset chicken for tea which thankfully takes all of 25 mins to do so I've had a nice day doing very little.....

Right, the rascal needs his feed then hubby should be home by 7 :happydance:. Have a nice sunday night ladies!!

xx

Definitely sounds like Earl is on track to be the same size as Emma- she was also 11 lbs at 3 weeks. I'm sad about the outfits too- some of the smaller stuff was only worn once. I'd like a boy if we had another but we definitely have more than enough clothes for another girl :) My mum and I went outlet shopping back in the summer and bought tons of clothes for Emma and although I assumed she'd be a bigger baby since hubby and I are both tall, we definitely didn't plan on her being this big so soon- looks like she's grown into her Easter dress just in time for Christmas!

Cute story about the burp- funny the things we find to be cute now, isn't it :)

btw, how'd the home brew turn out? (Or is it still too early?)

I can sympathise lol - the MW always said he was a 'solid' baby but they never expected him to be quite so big!! I am trying to find him an outfit for christmas day/family visits over christnmas and I have no idea what size to get lol!! We've asked family for 6-9m clothes as we have plenty of 3-6m now but he may well be into them by christmas and he'll have nothing to grow into :dohh: If you have a boy next, and we have a girl, maybe we should swap wardrobes!! lol

It's amazing how none of us are phased by poo and burps now! :dohh:

Ahhh the homebrew lol - hubby has been hard at work over the past couple of weeks. He's finished 40 bottles of IPA, 36 bottles of 'fake corona' and has a dark ale kit on the go. The red wine is racking, the peach wine needs bottling tomoorow (his next day off) and he's going to start a 'christmas pudding wine' ready for christmas.......we're going to be very merry indeed. The hawthorn and nettle were monumental failures but i think we have enough (sorry about typo's- one handed thanks to a sleepy Earl lol)

EDIT:

Forgot to put my nights update: bed at 9.30, up at 1.30-2am, slept until 5.45!! then fed at 6am and went bacl to sleep for a further hour and a half but has just been woken up by those pesky hiccups (my word he hates them!)

Also I'm back in my non-maternity jeans (just lol)....I have my super skinny best friend visiting today (coming from Scotland!) so I am so pleased to be back in proper size 12s!! wooohooo!! Best be off - Earl needs a bath and have sooooo much to do before she gets here!

Bye for now and have a nice day ladies xx

Morning all, I seem to have a tiny baby, Noah has only outgrown one babygro, alot of newborn things are too big, there are some he's threatening to get too long for. I cant believe he's only 8lbs at a month old.

He didn't settle well again, feed at 9.30 slept till 1 then was up and crying till 4 am feed got him settled at 5 till 8. It's just that middle bit of night he's having issues with.

I need to make an appointment for doctors but im not allowed to take the pram in, even locked outside i dont trust the area and what do I do with Noah while i'm examined etc??

Maffie, I wouldn't worry about Noah's weight....if anything it will mean his clothes will last longer - I would love that right now lol.

Why aren't you allowed to take a pram in? Is this standard as I was just going to take Earl in his pram for his 6 weeks check. I'm not happy about him being in a Dr's anyway as there's always loads of sneezy/coughy people at mine and I don't want him to catch a cold. Have you got an infant carrier/car seat you could use?

Morning Girls!?!?

Madame was back to her 'normal' night rourine, thank goodness... Settled at 10.30, wake at 3.30, woke again at 6.30; I feel so much better today. I was so weepy yesterday morning but had so much I wanted to do... OH gave me plenty of cuddles and kisses yesterday at breakfast time; not sure if it made me feel better or not I was just so tired... (Naps aren't really an option for me as I'm like a bear with a sore head afterwards; they really throw me...)

OH managed to fit & connect the radiators in the new rooms! We have heat! Hopefully this will reduce the number of waterbottle incidents with DS now...

I managed to get to my drawers and the wardrobe!?! Only taken me 2 weeks to get the ironing done from washing all OH's clothes from his drawers... LOL wonder how long it'll take me to do mine and the wardrobe...

We've now planned to floor the loft out next weekend, as what's left in our room needs to go in the loft and the stuff in the cupboard at the top of the stairs can go too... Our bedroom floor can now wait until after Christmas as OH can't take leave in December and we've all my family coming for Christmas day, so we could do with the room and Charlie could do with her room...

I'm sure that she'd settle herself more in her own room rather than ours, as I try to keep her quite so OH can get his sleep... So I think I'm in a bit of a catch 22 situation; she does want just cuddles sometimes and not feeding... I've noticed she does whinge during her sleep when downstairs, but does settle more often than not, unless she wants feeding (she does a great penguin impression when in need of a feed...) I not sure but I do think OH & I distub her when we go to bed and when OH gets up too...

Best go feed her... Catch you all soon...

I dont drive so even though i have a car seat I couldn't carry it all the way to the docs, main reason I need to go is issues with pains in muscles from c section as its been getting worse recently, so I daren't carry it that far. They have a sign up saying no prams, im tempted to change doctors because of it, but we are hoping to move house before the new year so would be crazy changing for a few weeks.

I would take the pram anyway and if they complain set the Dr on them!! Stupid rules like that I use my discretion......what are they going to do? If you had a way round you would do it! (I'll get off my soap box now!)

They supply locks to lock the prams outside aimee which im not doing as that means someone can still nick the alloy wheels and the carry cot and im not having some germ ridden person holding Noah while im examined.
