Hi guys. So...been a totally manic few days. Tom left on Friday so we are now on our own again. He took most of the furniture so I've been shopping all weekend. All I can say is thank god for savings and family!

:hugs: :hugs: :hugs: Sorry to hear that LK :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

Blimey girls, you've had some tough weekends. LK, lovely to see you back - but sorry you're not having a good time. And Kte, you deserve a bottle of something, a blanket and a log fire (with somebody else to put the logs on) - poor you :hugs: Sorry girls, that's all I got time for right now as only popped in very quickly for a catch-up. Will try to write at the end of the afternoon. xx

LK- :hugs: Hope you and James are doing okay

Kte- Wow your week is off to quite the start, lol! I hope the commute isn't too much of a killer for you :flower:

I'm enjoying a nice quiet afternoon- daycare baby is napping and hubby is in the basement with Emma. I even managed to be productive and get all the veggies prepped for a stirfry before coming on BnB for a bit of procrastination  Hope everyone is having a good evening :hugs:

Is it me or is it a bit :cold: out there!?!

Morning all :flower:

I am pooped, excuse the expression! No busses up to Chloe's nursery so I walked, ouch. I'm trying to figure out the distance but struggling to find a good website that can help map my walk. Thankfully nursery is still open but all the kids are in one room at the mo due to lack of staff, it's pretty deep there so if it snows again they will close early. I still have to walk up tonight to get her and then walk back down. So no more snow please until I have got home, then bugger it, it can snow as much as it wants! I really am undecided about taking her in tomorrow now too. Getting to work etc is fine, its where her nursery is was really bad. Thankfully I ditched the pram at work, I had a sneeky suspicion that if there were no busses then I wasn't going to be able to push the thing . . .I so need ski accessories for it :haha:

Kaites: Glad you got to enjoy some of your afternoon

Colsy: Hope your okay and not too busy :hugs:

Have you had lots of snow where you are Kte? We've got a dusting on the ground now but that's going to melt with all the rain this week. Hmm- ski attachments to a stroller would probably sell around here, lol :haha:

I ended up paying for the lazy couple of hours yesterday. Emma pushed her nap wayyyy back because of daddy-playtime and then was up ridiculously late. Ended in a bit of a "heated discussion" with hubby that still needs to be discussed further when he finally wakes up, anyhoo... Hope everyone is having a good morning :hugs:

Oh dear, sorry to hear that Kaites :hugs: Hope things get sorted soon for you :hugs:

Yup, where we live we had a decent covering but I was able to push the pram, where I work was the same . . . nursery it was over my ankles (thank goodness I had my wellies on). I'm really rubbish at estimating things like depth and distances :shy:

Colsy: Hope your okay and not too busy :hugs:

Yes all fine thanks, just trying to squeeze in a quick job into too short a time. Monty walked 21 - 21!!! - steps at the weekend. But today at parents and tots he crawled almost the whole time. Deep (for England, anyway) snow here, the pram would never have got through it, a big 3-wheeler would be handy for this sort of weather. OH carried Monty down to mums and tots for me, as our road is so steep we'd have both ended up sliding down I think!

Right, back to work. OH currently putting Monty down for a nap, so let's hope it works today. Yesterday when I put him in for his nap he went straight to sleep, not a single whinge. That's honestly the third time in his entire life that he has done that for me for a daytime nap!!!

Send some snow this way! Bit rainy today, but has been in the high 60s all week. I want snow!!

LK ~ *hugs* lady :(

Hmph, so much for wondering whether he might do another nice nap. OH just had to do CIO for half a bloody hour before he dropped off to sleep. Usually when we do CIO for that long for naps he ends up sleeping for about 15 mins and then wakes totally and utterly miserable for the rest of the day :growlmad: Not going to be a good afternoon. Poor OH, he ain't been well over the weekend and now he's gonna have a grumpy child to entertain all afternoon. Can't even go out far, as the car's snowed in at the bottom of the hill and the pram won't shift through the snow. Ho hum

I want snow too! The rain has started so looks like our little dusting of snow will disappear soon- it's supposed to rain something crazy like 35mm today and 50mm tomorrow  If it was a bit colder, that would be a lovely dumping of snow :)

Colsy- Hope Monty isn't too grumpy for your OH later :flower:

Both the babies are asleep again- ah bliss! Tomorrow it's a 3 munchkin day so I probably won't be lucky enough to get them all sleeping at the same time. The trick will be to get Emma to nap this aft and still go to sleep at a decent time tonight- I lost it last night when hubby's solution to the problem was to bring her downstairs to watch TV :dohh: It was having the TV on during daddy-daughter time that caused the problematic late nap in the first place.

Well, I better go- I hear Emma waking...

Update ... 30 minutes of CIO :nope::shrug::dohh: Followed by 2 hours of napping :cloud9::happydance::thumbup: He even woke, moaned for half a second, and then went back to sleep twice! Now he's woken up happy and refreshed, and interested in doing things other than being stuck to my or OH's hip. But golly, sitting upstairs in the office listening to him CIO for half an hour was horrible. It was so loud I couldn't actually even do the work I was trying to do  Just wish he'd learn to accept that a baby's gotta nap.

Blimey it's cold here. Neither of our log burners are alight, cos the wood store is at the end of the garden and neither of us can be bothered to brave the weather. Bit ridiculous really, cos the days we need the fires alight are the very days when we don't want to go out there! So the boiler's working overtime in an attempt to warm up our house. It's days like this when I understand why people choose to live in modern houses on estates rather than stone cottages on top of hills

Got at least a foot of snow here. We're well and truly house-bound. Oh my, it's like last winter all over again! Nobody can get out the village (no cars, no buses), and the snow is well and truly above the pram wheels so there's no way that will get down the hill. So, either I practise with Monty in the baby-backpack or we see whether he'll sit still in the sledge so I can take him down into the village. Mind you, it's actually snowing that hard that you can barely see anything beyond a metre or two, and he'll get so wet that he'll prob whinge all the time we're out LOL. Hey ho, life's fun.

Am very upset with family re Xmas. One of those things that won't sound like a big deal once I write it down, so for now I'm not going to bother talking to you all about it, but suffice to say I'm upset and I shed a tear or two last night about it all. For years I thought I was the selfish one, but over the past year or so I've gradually learned that that ain't always the case and actually some members of my family would do well to turn their focus on to something other than themselves for half an hour. :growlmad:

Anyway, I'm going to finish this project I'm working on and then see whether the three of us can go out in the snow for a bit. xxx

Im at work but thinks really I should be off again to get Chloe. This is ridiculous, I can't say home as it 'might snow' but when I battle 2hrs to get in and it does snow then I have to leave early. If I'd of stayed off 'just in case' it would be fine but then I would either be introuble or waste emergency A/L I have left, yes its kind of an emergency but who knows how long this is going to go on for really! ARGH!!!!!!! Just all I ask is keep the main road busses working please!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh . . . morning all :flower:

Colsy :hugs:

Good morning :)

I wish we had snow like that- at least you can play in snow and be out in it without getting utterly soaked. We're under a rainfall advisory here- supposed to be 50 mm in the city and up to 80mm across the river in the hills. It's supposed to get colder as the day goes on and turn to freezing rain- days like today, I'm glad I work at home!

Colsy- :hugs: I'm sure you have reason to be upset :hugs: I hope you are able to get out and enjoy the snow! Emma thought licking the snow was pretty awesome last week (ick, but I guess that's what kids do...) You reminded me that I'll have to finally get my little sled off my parents  Emma was too small for it last year, but I'm sure she'll love it this year!

Kte- I hope the busses are running for you :flower: I'd be so annoyed too- sounds like you've been commuting to and from work all day! Hope you don't lose any wheels on your buggy trying to push through snow ;)

Anyone else's kid discover how to flush the toilet yet? I have to keep the bathroom door closed at all times now or the water bill will be huge, lol. I keep hearing "whoosh" when I'm upstairs with Emma (she hasn't discovered the main floor toilet... yet!). Her other new thing is playing with her little doll like a big girl- she brings it everywhere with her now (I'm sure the doll is part of the reason she's gone from crawler to full time walker in a week), pretending to give it sips from her sippy cup and feeding it with a plastic spoon she found in the change bag and I think I even saw her lifting its legs like she was doing an imaginary diaper change (it was right after I changed one of the boys diapers and right beside where I had been). I think Christmas should be fun since my mum has bought her a doll set with a stroller, etc. It's so crazy to think how much she's grown since Christmas last year!

Anyway, I need to get my butt in gear and wake up Emma before the other babies get here. Hope everyone is having a good day!

Thanks guys. We are ok. James has been waking in the night again but thats hardly surprising. I so need to get a laptop. Relying on popping over to mums atm!

Kaites: :haha: cheers! No wheels lost :haha: Makes a change, I told you the pink thing would be indestructable . . . I do like it as a pram, its just the flowers, I can't like it 100% otherwise it will break on me so shhhhhh :winkwink: Chloe hasn't flushed the toilet but then I don't let her go near it, I just don't want her hands all over the loo seat and the toilet is quite close to the sink so she would prob lean on the loo first :dohh: Sounds really cute that she is treating her doll like a baby :D

I ache, nursery called me at 11 to say they were closing at lunch time, by that time the busses had all been suspended so after waiting at a stop and relaising this, I ended up walking up and then carrying Chloe down. I left the pram at work Tue morning as I knew I wouldn't of been able to push it in the thick thick snow. On the way down Chloe decided she wanted to sleep!! So I had her cradled in my arms, snow falling on her, fast asleep! She weighed so heavy so I called back into work, grabbed a cup of tea and a bite to eat whilst she slept in her pram. We then set off again to the bus station, there were limited skeleton services on, after a bit of a wait caught a bus and then had to push the pram in snow up the hill home, managed to get in a 3.30! My thighs and arms must be so toned by now :haha: Nij is off tomorrow and Fri but I am seriously thinking about not going in tomorrow, been told by a good friend that busses and trains have been cancelled at the mo and the snow is only going to get worse tomorrow. Work want me in but I can't see why, all the lecturers will call to say they can't come in and so will the students, so why should it take me a min of 2hrs struggling to take a bunch of 'im working at home' messages

Chaos, Id send you some of it (Kaites you can have some too) but the planes are all grounded! :flower:

Hope you get a laptop soon LK and hope James settles soon :hugs: :flower:

Hope your okay too Colsy and have managed to get the house all nice and cosy :flower:

Hey gals, house is nice and warm, fire is lit, Monty's asleep (if only we could work our magic on his naps as good as we did with his night time sleep, eh?), and I'm just waiting for OH to finish off doing some admin for a meeting tomorrow (it's at the pub in our village, so I am sure he'll manage to get there, LOL) before we watch last weekend's 'Casualty' on iPlayer. Don't like watching telly on the computer, as it's just not the same - not very good wireless signal in lounge, so we tend to sit at the kitchen table to watch it. Anyway, that serves me right for forgetting to set the video on Saturday night to tape it.

Meant to be swimming tomorrow, but I can say with some surety that we won't be going. I suspect the pool where we swim will be shut (it's at a posh private school in town), and there's no way we'd get over the moors to Sheffield - in fact I think the roads are prob closed now.

So have any of you taken the kiddies out into the snow yet and actually let them play in it? We were hoping to find a sledge but so far no success, so Monty has only been in the backpack. Seems a bit cruel to sit him down in the snow just to get some cute pix - he'll get ever so cold and wet. But they would look cute wouldn't they?!

Oh, I forgot to say :dohh: Monty walked 21 steps at the weekend without holding on to anything. And today we've started to lose count of the steps. Can we officially say he's walking now? Hey, great timing with the weather Monty - not ideal conditions for learning to walk outside

Try to catch up with you all in the morning some time. xxx

Good morning!

LK- I hope James' sleeping settles down for you soon :flower:

Kte- Glad to hear the flowery pram has proven indestructable so far :haha: Sounds like you ladies have had some crazy snow! The snow in the UK actually made our evening news (so did the openning of a sporting goods store though so it must have been a very slow day in news, lol). I hope you manage to take the day off :)

Colsy- We let Emma and the other kiddies play in the snow last week- I figure it's better than playing in the mud and is a softer place to land while she's still learning to walk on uneven ground. I think it depends on the baby though- Emma and baby #1 loved the snow but baby #2 hated it with a passion. Sounds like Monty can definitely be called a walker now too  Crazy how fast it happens, eh? Glad to hear you are managing to stay cozy too :)

Yesterday afternoon's naps were a nightmare- my mum dropped round with some stuff right after I had put everyone to sleep and the doorbell woke the 3 of them up :dohh: I think I need to make a "do not disturb" sign to put on the door for naptime! We have a playdate with a baby who starts in January. Should be interesting to see how it goes with the 4 LOs all together (the part-timer hasn't been here for previous playdates).

Emma was testing us last night a bit, dropping food off the side of the table. When hubby gave her a stern "Emma", the lower lip began to quiver and then it turned into a full on cry. It's happened a couple times now- she definitely understands when she's done something to disappoint us. I know it's a good thing (that's what always kept my brother and I from doing crazy stuff when we got older) but it still breaks my heart to see that look on her face. A quick snuggle and getting her to help clean up the floor (she'll pick the stuff up again and pass it to me) made it all better, but I still hate that we've reached the stage where we're starting to need to "discipline" her (I hate the word "discipline"- make me think of spanking... maybe "guide the behaviour" is a better way of putting it).

Anyway, I should get ready for the day. Hope everyone is keeping warm :hugs:

Afternoon all,

I stayed at home and there hasn't been much snow, so now I feel a git for not going in! Its just my luck it would work out that way, so hey ho, just going to try and enjoy the day and not let it get to me. If Chloe's nursery is closed tomorrow then its Daddy-Daughter day so it makes a battle to town a bit easier with just the one trip.

Kaites: They said thesnow is the worse its been here in 100 years, it was pretty bad last Jan if I remember correctly but I don't think it was as bad and it was less wide spread. I let CHloe out in the snow a little bit, she likes to touch it and of course eat it :haha: Hope the play date goes well with 4 LO's :flower:

I agree with you on the "guide the behavour" I had put a thread in toddler section yesterday as Chloe has entered the hitting phase :nope:

Colsy: Yup, sounds offical, Monty is a walker :happydance:  Hope you manage to enjoy today, even if it wasn't the swimming plans you intended.

Oops, best go, I wondered where I had lost my tea and just heard a 'plonk'. Now I have a ball in my cup :dohh:

xx

Happy Friday :happydance:

This feels like it's been a super long week  Anyone with special plans this weekend? I think I want to get out of the city and check out some of the christmasy stuff in some of the smaller villages but who knows- we might just end up at Costco instead :dohh:

Kte- Cute avatar of Chloe enjoying the snow :flower:

Not too much going on here yet- Emma was up a lot last night. I hope she isn't teething because one of the other kiddies is also teething (could be a rough day!). The amber teething necklace is pretty good at taking the edge off her pain, but it doesn't seem to totally eliminate it- if anything, it makes it harder for me to guess what the problem is when she gets fussy since she isn't as obvious as the other 2 kids with her teething symptoms. Anyway, just a quickie from me for now... :hugs: to those that need them!
