Thanks guys. Have left him in his cot for tonight and will see if he does it again. Mainly cos I'm useless at DIY and can't remember how to take the sides off lol.

Anybody else find they are saying 'no' constantly at the moment? I hate having to do this, cos it is so negative, but almost everything Monty tries to do is dangerous LOL so obviously I need to tell him that it ain't the thing to do. So he's climbing on the windowseat and then standing up and bashing his hands on the kitchen window. He's climbing on the dining chairs, standing up on them back to front, and then leaning over the back of the chairs (soooooo likely to topple over, eeeek). He's turning the radio on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off ... (not dangerous but a bit annoying!) He's trying to turn the cooker on and off and likes to kiss his reflection in the oven door!

When he does good stuff, I make a massive issue of it, in the hope he learns to do good things all the time. None of the above stuff is done intentionally to annoy or upset us, which is why I hate saying 'no' so much. When he's intentionally naughty (like if he constantly repeats doing something that he knows he mustn't do), then I have less of a problem telling him off.

And Aimee, how on earth did you manage to make Earl sit on the bench? Surely you had to keep putting him back on? Monty is good at sitting still for ... oh ... five seconds maybe?! Love to hear your techniques :-)

OK, gotta go and get tea ready as OH out running and will be back in a sec. Talk tomorrow xx

Colsy - We go through phases of 'No' - normally when he's found he can do something (like climbing on boxes, of pulling the dog's tail! lol) but like you say I try not to be 100% negative. If I catch him before he's about to misbehave I'll ask him to 'Come Away' and put my hand out and offer kisses an cuddles and a toy to play with. This works a lot of the time. If he picks something up we'll ask him for it or we'll ask him to put it back - with limited success I'd add lol

As for the minutes sitting - he has it at home as we do naughty step and sometimes you do have to replace him but most of the time now he will just sit still as he knows the drill.First few times he was all over the place lol. Bit like bedtimes really....Stay in bed is going well but does take about 30 mins to get him to sleep currently!

how are we all today? I'm officially part time as of tomorrow - today is/was my last wednesday at work  only 9 more weeks and I qualify for MA too which is all good....kind of what i'm working towards- my goal lol.

LK - hope the transition to bed goes well. Earl's only fallen out once and that was on the first night, and has been pretty good since. I have noticed he's taken to leaning himself against the wall so that obviously keeps him in lol

Nanaki - welcome back and congrats too!

Anyhoo's best go. Time to go and actually get some sleep lol...been significantly lacking lately lol

Hehehe, spend a lot of time saying that's not nice, and really making a big fuss on something CC does that's good... Even if we look daft... Try to only use No if there's a real good reason; otherwise like you say it's all you use...

I'm a week late so fingers crossed; gonna get a test today; will let you know...

:flower: Good luck Eswift :flower:

Colsy: It sounds cumbersome but sometimes 'oi, fingers' or 'uh uh' kind of negative noises , or her name in a certain tone to indicate what she is doing isn't appropriate. If I do say no I usually back it up with a reason or say, 'we don't do that' or 'you shouldn't / don't do that becasue . . .' etc.

I can completely relate to the "no" issue :dohh: Yesterday, I nearly went insane- we have a little pull along ferry boat that makes the most annoying noise on our hardwood flooring and I've been trying to institute a rule for the boat where it's only to be played with on the carpeted area in the livingroom. So after a dozen times of moving kids and ferry back into the livingroom, I finally did the whole dramatic routine, pointing at the hardwood floor, saying no repeatedly, making giant "x"s with my arms and then hopping over to the carpet and doing big smiles, thumbsup and saying "yes". The only effect seems to be that one of the kids now points at the floor and goes "no, no, no" :dohh: Usually I just redirect them to a different activity when it's something dangerous/annoying and say something like "be careful" or "we play with x this way..." but the ferry made me lose it and revert to speaking to them like a class of ESL kindergarteners, lol :)

Eswift- good luck with the testing! :flower:

LK- Hope james stayed in bed last night! :)

Hope everyone is having a good day :hugs:

Thanks Aimee! And feeling strange to be pg again! Anyone is pg on this thread?!

Eswift - Good luck!

Nanaki, that's brilliant he's learning to sign! How old were u when u learnt to sign? Did it come easy or was it a case of it being essential to communicate? Do u think he understands that u have a hearing impairment? Sorry for all the questions!

Colsy harrys in the dangerous phase at the moment too n I find myself saying no, stop, get down, come away etc. I'm constantly having to redirect his attention n keep him occupied n interested in safer activities! He's a climber for sure!

eswift - how exciting! Fingers crossed for you. Will be on tenterhooks til you update us hehe.

How is everyone this fine Thursday evening? I'm a little excited about going up to spend the weekend with my friend tomorrow! Ever so slightly hyper lol. Going dress shopping at 1.30pm so we will see how James deals with mummy trying on lots of bridesmaids dresses.

Any tips for a 2.5 hour drive?!

Eswift - how exciting for you! Best of luck :flower:

LK - Drives consist of trying to time them with nap time, plenty of drinks and snacks, and he normally sleeps 3/4 of the time lol. But then again we don't go out in the car much anymore - usually only for tops an hour. Enjoy dress shopping.

Hi everyone - hope we're all ok. I'm feeling a littl delicate today. I forgot to take my tabs this morning for the first time since my dose went up and I think I need to be more careful in future! :dohh: I've been up and down all day, and feeling very teary. As usually finances are at the heart of it all today. I called the job centre to try to get some advice about benefits and because I'm not a single mum, jobless or on the sick, I'm not entitled to anything through them:cry: Back to the drawing board. I've got to tackle it this weekend, but seeing as we have no plans whatsoever there shouldn't be any issues there lol.

TGIF tomorrow - today has been one heck of a day starting with forgetting my lunch and finishing with Earl being sick after a coughing fit all down my back

Have a nice evening ladies xxx :hugs:

We have to leave at 9am to get up to Stafford in time for the first appointment. I will just take his favourite CD I think. He is rather partial to The Wanted....

Morning all,

LK: Enjoy trying on the dress and enjoy! Sorry no travel tips as such as Chloe is a nightmare at it at the mo, just generally lots of food, toys, drinks and a kiddy CD or two! :flower:

Nanaki: Lovely pic of Billy in your avetar :flower: In answer to your question, there are a few ladies TTC at the moment and one member Fraggles had a little boy last month. I think there are a few other old bumpkin members floating around on the forum too that are but I can't remember who!

Eswift: :hugs: Hoping everything is okay :flower:

Aimee: Hope your having a better day today :hugs:

Well assignment has been handed in. I hate it, i always hate them when I hand them in. I totally went over the word count so I always worry I haven't put valid arguments across etc . . . anyway it made me wonder............ ......Jo how is your course going? Have you heard anything from any of the Uni's? :flower:

Flora: How are you and Harry doing? :flower:

Fraggles, Colsy, Chao, Craftymums - Hope your all good as well ladies & babies :hugs:

Chloe is teething and has also become a snot monster huzzah! Well not really but you know what I mean. I have a rotten head ache I think I have to thank AF for.Other than that, we're all good. Chloe got to try lots of Chinese food yesterday and they said she ate really well and was one of the few kiddies open to eating lots of different foods, including seaweed and prawn toast

Hi ladies. I have posted the thread in Toddlers and Pre-school, about the plugs and I am now worried because Billy is not stupid and playing with the switches which is fine but I got the plugs covered and he can actually take it off! And worried that he will end up hurt himself by having a electric shock. He just is not aware of danger being possible get a electric shock!

Also another question is when are you start to do potty train ur kid?

Kte, thank you for the lovely message about Billy, when he had his 1st haircut and I was worried that he would move too much but he was doing so well!!! xxx

Thank you!! xxx

Nanaki - sorry to hear that the plug covers didn't work. Could you try taping them on? Masking tape it pretty easy to take off for an adult but would hold on a cover long enough for a toddler to get bored of trying

Kte - yep I had a better day today. Work was ok for once (only a hadnful of complaints and mostly nice people , remembered my lunch so got to eat at lunchtime and not be all hungry and narky (although I'm starving right now waitign for my tea to be ready lol) and the bus ride home was super-entertaining due to the bus driver (a woman) and a passenger gossiping like crazy about all sorts of things that were all highly amusing.....'I don't like that woman, she looks at me funny....next time I see her I'll look at her funny back and see how she likes it' - reply: 'She probably wont notice, she's blind, but you're right she is weird!' :dohh::haha:

Have we all got nice plans for the weekend? I have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING planned...thinking the park with Earl in the morning and then a walk with the dog on sunday, with lots of sleep, food and films in between lol.

Best be off- tea's up! :happydance: Happy Friday

Oh and Nanaki - re potty training. I have been meaning to get a potty for the bathroom for weeks (maybe get one tomorrow now I think about it lol) but I'm not going to push it. If he starts showing interest then I may give it a thought over the summer. i have read with boys that they're not really ready before two normally, although MIL is convinced that hubby was out of nappies by 18 months.....highly unlikely in my mind as he didn't walk until 13 months!

Summer seems an easier time to do potty trainign but want to get it done asap really. We have a potty which he is used to seeign around all though he falls into it. He signals when he's pood now so hopefully we can give it awhirl soon.

Harry has a potty & a toilet seat, he's happy to sit on them full clothed but doesn't like sitting on them naked. He says poo when he's food but can't tell wee wee yet although he does point at his penis & call it a wee though, lol. We're gonna start potty training this summer.

Bamako, we are ttc/ ntnp at the moment, but I'm stil bf-ing and my af is irregular so I think it's not gonna happen for a while yet.

Kte, I'm ok but harrys still not right. He's gotten very clingy and is having separation anxiety which is horrible, swell as the being I'll, reaction to the mmr and teething all at the same time.... Hubby's been away all week so it's been hard! How single mummies do this day in day out amazes me!

Morning all, up early today as boobs decided to overflow :haha: my clothes and bed are soaked. Aahhh the joys of growth spurts. Had a nice surprise last night as mentioned I fancied a curry mum had a night out with some friends who have an Indian restaurant and wow the food sent home for me was gorgeous. Massive portions too because im BFing  Why is it my mum as a better social life than me though
