Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

TaylorsMummy: Happy belated 2nd bithday wishes for Dexter :cake: I hope you had a lovely day and he enjoyed himself. Really nice to hear how you are both doing :flower: :hugs:

Sam76: Happy 2nd Birthday George today :cake: Hope your well & baby Louie :flower:

LK: So sorry to hear you MC :hugs: must be a body / mind f*"k to put it politely but I hope things settle down for you soon :hugs: :hugs:

Kaites: Hope we can see a pic of quilt once Emma has it :flower:

Milo'sMummy - don't be sad, Chloe was the 31st, so Milo isn't last and it doesn't really matter, I see it as an extended party month :hugs:

Mumof4:  Gosh, I can't remember if I wished Adi a happy birthday on FB, sorry if I didn't :hugs: Glad he is settling down at nursery a bit more & well done you on starting Uni :flower:

Fraggles: Awsome news :flower: :hugs:

Well, we have just been away at my Sisters this weekend. Was cool, went to stay but slept over in the camper van, it worked really well; the fun of family visits but our own space and no uncomfy floors! The seat bed was surprisingly comfy, Nij slept up top and Chloe and I shared to seat bed. She totally freaked me out as I woke up and she was stood up but accidentally fell and hurt her leg a little, she was okay but I think she was sleep walking . . . may explain a few things, like me finding her upset at an unearthly hour with her Peppa Pig book - in the dark. So its something to monitor!

Quite nervous tonight, her Dummy-Dog teddy dummy was destroyed, not sure how, or by whom. May have been Chloe as she chewed her other one but it's a different kind of destroyed, hard to explain. Anywhoo, she manged to nap without her dummy and has gone to bed without it too . . .so this may be a step in the no dummy direction. She only has it at night time or on the way to / home from nursery - so I am slightly concerned with how the bus journeys will go. Fingers crossed she doesn't need it at night. She does spit it out but then searches for it sometimes.

Good evening ladies!

Happy Birthday Romilly and Jacob!

(well, not quite yet on this side of the Atlantic but already the 3rd where you are, lol)

Happy belated birthday Adi and George!

Fraggles- Congrats on surviving the first week back and getting the position you wanted :hugs:

Kte- I hope Chloe is okay without her dummy-dog :flower: Sounds like the camper weekend was lots of fun :)

Hope everyone had a good weekend :) We winterized our caravan (trailer) today- kinda sad since that makes it official that summer is over :( Freezing cold here- I actually thought I saw a couple of snow flakes yesterday. Spent Saturday here in town and nearly went insane- hubby was working so it was just Emma and I. She's used to having other kids around to play with so she was a bit high maintenance to say the least  I got sitr crazy so I took her out shopping and spent a fortune- bought little favours for her birthday party for her friends and I think I went a little overboard  I managed to finish the quilt for Emma's birthday and I also made a tiny one for her doll and embroidered a heart onto a t-shirt using the leftover Dora fabric. Emma saw the t-shirt hanging up this morning and had a full-on meltdown when I put it away and told her it was for her birthday (I wasn't expecting her to go into the laundry room and thought it would be out of sight there- oops- at least she seems to like it!). I just need to make some cupcakes for her on Wednesday night and wrap her gifts and I think I'm all ready for the big day.

Anyway, I better get some sleep- Emma still has a cold so I'm sure she'll be waking up coughing before too long.

kaites- where at in canada are you? i believe i'm the only american in here? hope Emma settles down for you :hugs:

hope everyone had a nice weekend.

Kaites ~ Good luck with the party! I renting a bounce house. Best $150 I have EVER spent .. we had it for 12 hours and it kept everyone out of the house lol.
Re cupcakes .. I made ice cream cone cup cakes. You get some of the flat bottomed ice cream cones. I just used box cake mix, you put the cones in a cup cake tray, 3/4 fill them with mix, in the oven on 350 for 20 minutes. Once cooled, frost/decorate. The kids LOVED them and so much tidier than normal ones!

Milosmommy- I'm in Ottawa (about 4 hrs east of Toronto, 2hrs west of Montreal)- are you in the eastern time zone too or are you far enough west to be Central? (too lazy to check out a map, lol!).

I was going to mention that Chaos is in the US too :)

Chaos- I'd love to do a bouncy castle but the weather has turned freakishly cold- even for here! The cupcakes are a great idea though  I was thinking of doing Dora cupcakes but Emma loves ice cream too so that might work too :) (is it sad that she calls ice cream "mama mmmms"- obviously I eat wayyyyy too much of the stuff!!). What are you doing still awake?? Isabel keeping you up?

Ya, got some interesting heartburn going on .. its going all the ways up and I can taste it!! nasty ick

yep. i'm in eastern time zone. i'm 45-60 minutes from detroit/ambassador bridge.

chaos- lol. still orginally english :haha: where in the states are ya? majority of the May Mummies group are from across seas, and a few in canada and the states.

yikes, I remember having that problem near the end with Emma- I hope it settles down for you so that you can get some sleep :hugs:

Morning all,

Craftymum: Happy second birthday to Jacob :cake:

Eala: Happy second birthday to Romilly :cake:

Kaites: Awww shame she saw it but at least you know she liked it! Chloe almost saw her presents, she made an inquisative 'Oooo' noise and I whiped it away before she had chance to fully digest what she had seen  :haha:

Chaos: Sorry to hear about the heartburn :hugs:

Well no-dummy didn't really work very well . . . one of her other teddys had a bit of old dummy on it (once she chewed) and there some of the rubber is stitched to the teddy but she really likes the teddy so it was made safe and she cuddles it (She is like me and likes to hold and stroker her face with the rubber too). Anyway, I went in and she had lodged it in her mouth :dohh: She slept but I wasn't keen on her sucking away on it so I went an attachment dummy for another teddy she has (I wanted to leave it off to see if she would accept no dummy) but I would rather I suck on a proper one than the bodged one if that makes sense? So I just didn't happen. Plus she woke again in the middle of the night, and keeps whimpering in her sleep too so I am pretty sure its molars.

Hi girls. Feeling quite a lot better today. My body finally seems to be catching on to the fact theres no baby there anymore. Still have slightly sore boobs but everything else has settled. Cant believe how hot it is! Far too hot to be messing about with housework hahaha.

Oh my, I seem to have missed a HUGE amount of stuff. We've been on hols for the past two and a half weeks. Got back about 24 hours ago and this is the first time I've been online. Had a quick run through the BnB posts - so massive congrats AIMEE-LOU :happydance:. I'm an eensy bit jealous, but still very pleased for you .

We've had a superb holiday, loved every minute of it.

I'm knackered now though after dealing with a very grumpy Monty all day today - he has been bored stiff, as he's got far too used to doing fun stuff all day while we were away. So that's all from me as I need to get some sleep, ready for the start of 'real life' again tomorrow.

Bye all, catch up in the week xxx

colsy- hope you guys had a good time! :hugs:

kte- lol. just the other day i was wondering where in our house we'd hide presents when they get older. milo doesnt understand the concept of presents

LK- glad you're feeling better :flower: do you guys plan on TTC'ing soon after?

is a "dummy" a pacifier? lol

Colsy- glad to hear you had a good holiday :flower:

Milosmommy- I'm scouting out locations for hiding gifts too- clearly the laundry room isn't going to be a good spot for hiding stuff, lol :) My parents hid stuff behind their bedroom door and in a storage cupboard in the basement- both were terrible hiding spots and we always knew what we were getting for Christmas as a result :haha:

I think this weekend we are going to get hardcore with daytime potty training. Emma is about 90% potty poop trained and about 25% pee trained. I have both Friday and Monday off (Canadian Thanksgiving weekend) and one of Emma's little friend's mom's going to be attempting to do the 3 day potty training method this weekend too so I think we are going to try to do some intensive learning (we were making some good progress when we first started but I found having all the other kids around was too much so we have been taking it slow). We'll see how dedicated I can be though- I like to get out of the house and we are having company over for dinner on Sunday so there will be some distractions.

my parents put them in the basement or their bedroom closet. once they get into a searching phase of looking through the house for them, i'll leave them at my parents house :haha:

good luck with the potty training

Leaving them at the grandparents is a great idea :) My parents are only about 5 mins away so I can see myself doing that when Emma gets a bit older. My brother and I were terrible- we'd even unwrap gifts under the tree and then re-wrap them  My dad has since confessed to doing the same as a kid so I guess I should expect Emma to be a sneaky kid too since apparently it's genetic :haha:

my parents live down the street from us :) it's great having them so close.
heck, i was peeking at presents until i was 16

Thanks for the birthday wishes for Romilly, all :) We celebrated her birthday on Saturday (as I was in Uni all day yesterday) and just had a little do with me, DH and my parents. Nothing fancy! She opened about 2 presents then asked for "What the Ladybird Heard" which is her favourite book at Granny and Grandpa's

Sorry I've not been around much, have been having a bit of a time of things and really not had the energy to keep up with BnB beyond updating my journal and R&R'ing on my phone a lot of the time
