Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

Hello all,

Colsy: I hope not, I have just been hectic with Roller Derby training (passed my physical minimum skills yey), I am on the top-up for my degree, so its like the final year, some 'fun' 5000 words assignments and the like (which I am putting off as we speak!). As well as work and little miss time. I have had lots of condsiderations about OH and have been open with him and told him so, I have also given him lots of opportunities to leave if he so wishes as he has been infomed that his behaviour is unacceptable and I won't have it again, he pulls his act together or he goes. I had to have a rant the other day as I was mid-argument and at work and just wanted to scream and shout! There is nothing worse than being accused of something when your innocent - really gets my goat. There are other issues as well, its not just that he has been pulled up on.

Hmm, Chloe has sometimes deliberatly done the 'I know it's naughty but I will do it anyway' . . . just be consistent with your punishment. Rather than count to three in one go, maybe give him 1st warning, second warning, third warning ? See if that stumps him a bit. I did read at this age they do a 'push-me-pull-me' type thing: they are very much wanting reassurance we are around for them, but at the same time are excerting some independance (hence the push). Glad your enjoying some Monty time, I think that is it more than anything, its not that we don't want to be here and I often think of you all, its just time is precuious and LO's come first . . its just other life gets in the way sometimes too - we bumpkins are strong, we will get through it! :flower: :hugs:

LK: Good luck for the job interview! - does that mean better shifts?

Hmm a few Chloe updates - can't believe I haven't written them in! Last Thursday and Friday she had a wee in a potty at nursery! Which is pretty good considering we aren't even potty training yet. I kind of had a hunch she would start if she saw other kids and it seems like it's the case. She has also finally started telling me she is having a poo now as well, its so funny, she just says, 'Poo, lie down' and lies down for her bum to be changed!

My Mum came over yesterday and treated Chloe to some new shoes, we took her to get her feet measured and she is a 6E on the left and a 6.5E on the right. Although they sold us some 6.5F's - but at least there is some sort of growing room in them. After a protest and a kerfuffle at trying them on, she seems pretty keen on them now and rarely takes them off!

Yay go Chloe! James now takes his trousers off and comes to find me when hes done a poo. He refuses to pee on the potty though lol. I put him on there and he just says 'no wee wee mummy!'

colsy- i think it is definitely normal for this age. milo does the same thing. then after he does it he runs away because he knows i'm coming for him! our birthday rule in the states is anything past oct 13th, they wait an extra year. but since he'll be starting special ed pre-school next year shortly before he turns 3, i have to put him in school way before the rest of the bumpkins  i dont think we're drifting apart :hugs: just have less time to post in here. the Oct 09 thread i'm in on baby-gaga, we've stopped chatting a while back. maybe just two or three of us still pop in to update every other month or so

LK- good luck! :flower:

kte- that's so great of Chloe! Milo has taken interest in his potty. he'll sit on it. earlier he tried using it as a sit and ride toy :dohh: but the second he gets his diaper off and is allowed to get up, he runs to the corner to play with himself  more like beating the crap out of it

Im here just get so little time to write much. Work in manic ive requested a reduction in hours. Also start nursery next week.

LK: Yey well done James :flower: Like your new avetar pic btw :D

Milo'sMummy: :haha: Oh dear! Cheeky little boy!

Fraggles: Hope they accept your request :flower: Is it just N at nursery? How often? :flower:

Hi everyone, I am around, I'm just so busy with preparations for christmas, health checks and generally being pre-occupied with stuff going on here lol.

Earl is doing well. He's taking more of an interest in the potty, and last night refused to get off until he'd 'finished' lol. We're going to give potty training a whirl over the christmas holidays, which the CM is totally supportive of, so we'll see how it goes. Earl is loving his little pre-school sessions and came running out this morning with a piece of artwork lol. He tells me it's a plane but I think I need to get my eye in lol. Other than that he's also going through a stubborn 'independent' phase where he'll just do what he wants. Nappy changes are a nightmare as he wont lie down (also a reason to try the potty training lol) and is hating having naps (although he will go down it's often a lot of tears beforehand. Discovered that singing jingle bells sends him off to sleep almost instantly though :haha:

With me, I'm 16 weeks now. Had my 16week appointment yesterday and heard the heartbeat. It's weird actually because the midwifery service are so much more laid back here than they were in Yorkshire. So far I haven't been asked for a single urine sample (apart from at clinic with my consultant), have only had my BP taken twice, (all good lol) and they now don't want to see me until 28 weeks! I also wasn't told what the HB was and it's no-where on my notes. She just seemed happy there was one. They have lost my blood results from last week, so I have to go and have them re-done which I'm not happy about (ooh reminds me I need to ring the hospital as they may have them lol). My eyesight is going squiffy and I have to have another eye test next week. In good news I am off my anti-d's and have been for 2 weeks now! I have a rather large bump now too which makes it a bit easier to explain things like my total aversion to ANYTHING sweet lol. Seriously, I nearly threw up yesterday because I tried to eat a malteser! :dohh:

Hope everyone is ok otherwise and sorry I'm not on much. I just don't have much time (I've literally just sat down to a cuppa and a mince pie (I can eat mince pies, yoghurts and jam doughnuts lol) for the first time in a week!).

Hugs and happy Decembers to everyone!! How are we getting on with christmas preparations?

aimee- congrats on 16 weeks :flower: i wouldnt feel comfortable going that long without an appt. lol

2 mornings a week Kte at first then my add an extra day in. He sleeps so long of an afternoon it's not worth going for afternoons. Hopefully if he has that 2 days and i can get a day off a week it will bring a better balance to life. I feel J is too young for nursery.

Apart from having a better work/life balance I need to reduce hours as my last wage increase has caused a massive change in tax credits which I just cant budget for.

How is Chloe?

Aimee happy 16 weeks, have you got bump pics???

Hows the itching Fleur?

Hi!

Just to popping in to say hi!

My, we got busy for this month. We are trying to encourage Billy to use potty but no good cuz between me and Billy there is communication break down and will ask nursery to help also.

I am trying to get rid of baby clothes and not much luck at the moment. :(

Aimee, congratulations for 16 weeks! Will you find out what sex will it be?

Am going to clean the rooms as cant find my bank card grrr!

Catch you all later!

Merry Xmas to you all ladies and kids! xxxx

A funny note on the potty side of things (best not read if your eating lol) but Chloe seem's to now associate poos with lying down (to have her bum changed). She comes to me and says 'lie down' then does so . . . however, the other day, sans-le-nappy she said to me lie down. I didn't think anything of it as I was in the middle of a nappy change with her (just a wet one) so she was stood up (we use pull-ups now just so she get's used to them) and all of a sudden a 'lovely' brown nugged dropped out :dohh:

Fraggles: Hope you get the balance with everything :flower:

Nanaki: Good luck getting rid of the baby clothes, I have never had much luck selling them, a few bits here and there and some bargains really - I never have that luck buying :haha:

kte- :haha: that must've been lovely! the other day i was making dinner and milo ran into the kitchen naked. i walked into the living room to put his diaper back on, and i smelled poop. so i was looking all around, saw nothing. he came and sat on my lap, when i look down there was poop on his butt! :dohh: which then got on my pants. i look over and noticed the wipes were pulled out. he must've decided he wanted to change himself

Hello, only me. Everytime I come on here and apologise for not writing anything and promise to write more often, I then don't ... Anyway, not a great deal to report, but I'm working today so I thought I'd say hello. Put up the xmas decs yesterday - Monty has been really good with them so far and pretty much left them in situ. (We don't have a tree - I don't think that would be so simple, as every time he sees one anywhere, he does try to take all the baubles off.)

Monty and I have both been ill with colds but touch wood we're both on mend now.

We tried skipping the daytime nap yesterday as an experiment. The day itself went fine - hardly any extra narkiness or tantrums or super-tiredness. However, today he only slept an additional 15 minutes, so of course he was then knackered all morning. He had a nap today - don't think two on the trot would be the best idea! Is anybody else skipping naps yet? I should point out that I will be happy when he stops napping - it's always such a protest putting him down - he gets quite mad sometimes, thrashes so much that he ripped the raincover on his pram on Sunday! Really screams loudly - quite embarrassing if we're out. But then once he's out, he's out for the count and is hard to wake up. So what does this mean I wonder?!

Right, better and go and do a spot of work. Hope to hear from some of you soon. xx

colsy- glad you two are feeling better :hugs: i think i might skip putting up a tree this year. Ava is way too into everything and will probably try pulling on it.
not skipping naps here yet. not sure when that will happen  he cant go without a nap everyday.

We generally skip naps on the weekends too. Emma's busy entertaining friends during the week and that exhausts her enough to nap Mon-Fri :haha: Even on weekdays, she's down to 1.5 hours at most though and even then, it means that she isn't always tired by bedtime so we're starting to take longer to get to sleep here. Emma's little friend that is a couple days younger than her is definitely dropping naps too and if he sleeps too long, he still falls asleep okay in the evening, but he'll wake up crazy early for Mum the next day.

The days of nice long naps are definitely a thing of the past around here...

Chloe only naps at nursery (Mon - Fri) although she did fall asleep on me this Sunday which is the exception to the rule! She usually has about 1hr 15 - 1hr 30 give or take, she rarely sleeps longer than that. :flower:

Glad you are both on the mend Colsy :flower:

We have a tree up this year :happydance: We didn't bother last year. Chloe is doing really well with it, we have only put a few decorations on it; she just seem's content taking off the baubles and then re-placing them on the tree, which I can cope with!

We've got the tiny tree in the basement lounge and I've cleared a spot in the upstairs living room for the big tree- only problem is that's the daycare too and I'm not too sure I can trust them to keep their hands off. I have visions of going to put snack on the table in the next room and one of the boys trying to climb the tree- I can even imagine the sounds of Emma saying "uh oh Mummy- trouble!"... That being said, we will probably still put the tree up, just wait til the last minute to get it done :)

How's everyone else's xmas preps coming along? I finally finished shopping yesterday but that's about the only thing I've got done on my list.

Flora- do you have an induction date yet? Is baby going to be here in time for xmas? One of my friend's sisters was due around the same time as you and just had her baby early and it got me thinking about you :)

Just have Nij's presants to get yet but other than that, now we are finally sorted! hurray!

Can't believe it's so close now!

Guess what ladies, my Mum and Dad had offered to buy a pushchair for Chloe, we still have the lovely Luna but it's a bit bulky in certain cars when we go and visit people so they decided to get her a 'cheap' buggy as well. Would you belive I leave the Luna with Nij for a few hours and he has lost part of a strap!! I have no idea how, what, where - I am hoping it's in the car and fixable - I guess it's been jinxed by the new one! :haha:

Kte - how many is that now? lol.

We still have the 3D that my Dad bought for Earl. It would still 'do' for the new baby tbh, but I would love a new one lol. We have a 'cheap' stroller too but it's very cheap and only gets used once in a blue moon in winter lol. It's going in the loft soon to get it out of the way and will probably go to the car boot in the spring lol.

I'm all done bar a few bits and pieces extra for Earl which we just want rather than need lol. He has so many presents under the tree from family, I'm not sure what else to get lol.
