Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

:hi: ella's momma :) how you doing?

Bingers, welcome back- glad your little girl is doing well

LK, i feel so bad for you & james atm; i really hope you can figure out how to make him happier, poor little mite. i cant even imagine how hard it must be for you both... :hugs:

Maffie, sorry to hear about noah's chest infection & thrush... you've both been through a lot already... no advice, i'm afraid, but hope you both feel better soon.

chaos, glad autumn is sleeping so well! harry did 9 night right through, but has woken once in the night for the past 3 nights for a feed, but that's coz he's got a stining, snotted up nose atm, which is making it difficult for him to feed as effectively as before, so he needs his njight time top up, so to speak, lol. he's still refusing to sleep more than 30mins at a time during the day though, but oh well!

aimee & kaites, wow your lo's are growing so well!!! i'm kinda envious, hehe, as harry's still a titch in comparison. we're getting him weighed this afdternoon; he was 9lbs 2oz 2 weeks ago at 8weeks, so i'm hoping for over 10lbs today at 10 weeks 1 day. :)

anyway, better go as the snot monster wants another go on my boobies :dohh:

Afternoon girls, well Noah is now 9lbs 4 1/2oz so that means he's between the 2nd and 9th percentile again, better than being on the 2nd I guess. He's too poorly for his jabs with this chest infection and the thrush is back too which will be harder to shift while on antibiotics. My poor little man I want to cry for him. I feel like im doing something wrong

No you're not doing anything wrong. Please don't blame yourself for this. Babies get colds and all sorts of infections - sadly this is just something that happens to them all, much as it's horrible to see. You are, I am sure, doing your absolute best for little Noah, and I bet he will appreciate it all one day - even if it doesn't feel like it at the moment. I still have lots of times when I wonder whether I am doing anything right for Monty, but I think those times will go eventually and then we will all begin to see what great mummies we all are. :hugs:

Maffie- :hugs: for you and Noah, hope you are both feeling better soon

Ellasmomma- hi and welcome :flower:

Littlekitten- good to hear that James is starting to take the new milk, good idea about mixing the 2 brands to get him used to it slowly.

We had a good night last night..he was grouchy around 8.30pm so we took him upstairs where I fed him, then put him down in his cot, awake, but abit drowsy, at 9.30pm and he went out like a light and didn't wake untill 3.30am :happydance: fed him and put him back down but he shuffled and moaned for abit before giving in and going off back to sleep but I dozed through it so don't feel like Ive been deprived of sleep really.

My god today though..I have such a grumpy baby!!! He just wants to be held! I rock him to sleep then lay him down and he carries on sleeping for another few mins or so then realises he has been put down and wakes up crying again  I ended up giving him a dose of gripe water, thinking it must be tummy pain. He did burp and fall asleep and I put him down and so far he still asleep, so I'm off to tidy up abit and empty washer and dishwasher while I've the chance! xxx

We are on almost fully Cow&Gate Comfort now and what a difference! He is all smiles and giggles and chatter! I'm so happy. And hes back to settling himself to sleep already. Has had a 2 hour nap this morning!

well, Harry wasnt the 10lbs we hoped for, but not far off. He put on 10oz in 2 weeks & is now 9lbs 12oz, so he's gone from th4e bottom of the 0.4th centile to the top of the 0.4th centile, so it's all in the right direction at least & the HV told me not to worry as he's "found his line" and is gaining nice n steady and not to compare Harry to anyone else, lol. Put my mind at ease!

On a bad note though, OH had to go pick my nephew Joshy up from my sister's earlier, as she called me to say my other nephew Caleb (15mths old) had a pink stained nappier earlier today and then a green pee one, then sat him on a potty to pee & there was white stuff floating in green & pink pee!!!!! She got him an emergency Drs appointment & they told her to take him to hospital straight away... She was in tears, so we've got josh staying a ours tonight as they dont know how long Caley will be in for...
I'm really worried as she hasn't text or anything yet & they've been there more than 5 hours now... I really hope it's just a bladder infection & not anything more serious.....
Unfortunately, it means I got to get up early to take Joshy to school in the morning :dohh: which I'm not looking forward to, lol.

How's everyone else doing?

Oh no florabean poor little thing. Hope he is ok and taking Joshy to school isnt too traumatic.

James has been pretty good but making up for the week of not eating properly. He took 3oz feeds about 2 hours apart and then had 4oz between 6.30pm and 7.45pm. Then woke and took another 3oz at 9pm and is now in bed but not quite asleep. Got to go wash some more bottles cos he has used the ones for tonight lol.

am typing left handed coz feedkng harry atm, so sorry4 lack og capitals & typos!

lk, thst's great he's taking the milk! i hope he'll be happier & more settled for you!

OH just took joshy to school for me, so that's 1 less thng i have top do today; he was really good, but did wake us up at 5am... even harry slept thru till 6:15, lol, so i wasnt impressed :dohh:
got a tonb of hsewrk to do today & finish wrapping presentds... fun fun. think i've finaly finished xmas \shopping now, yay!

anyone had snow where they are? we never get any here, as we're right on the south coast & the isle of wight seems to 'block' the really bad weather out :( when i lived in wales & norfolk, we always got snow & i really miss it!

Hey girls. Well we had a brilliant night! James went down at 10pm and slept through til 6am!!! With a brief wake up at 4.30am but immediately went back to sleep once I put his dummy in. He is all smiles again this morning and is currently sat in his bouncer chatting to his hands and laughing. This new milk is great. We had a play date this morning with one of the girls from our postnatal group and they both slept for pretty much all of it lol.

Florabean - We had a very brief snow flurry but it only lasted about 5 minutes and now the sun is out and its all gone.

just heard from my sister; caleb is ok & it is just an infection so he's got anti-biotics to clear it up, bless him. apparently, he refused to sleep at the hospital & kept shouting at the lights & trying to talk (babble) to the nurses who walked past & throwing his toys across the cubicle coz he thought it was funny. they were there for ages & didnt get home till gone 3am- they were gonna keep him in overnite but had no beds on the children's ward so instead it cost £22 for them to get home in a taxi!!!!!!! what a rip off!

Ladies has anyone had a funny period after their first period? I got my first period last Monday, some ovulation pain this Tuesday and now have some browny discharge. Little bit worried about it tbh!

Wooo hooo LK for James sleeping thru the night!!!!
Re period .. at the end of mine I get brown type discharge .. its just older blood coming out.

Ok girls take a look at the... it CRACKS me up!!!!

Chaos thats frickin hilarious! My period finished last Wednesday though so I dont understand why I am getting the brown stuff over a week later.

Maybe it's the stress of the last few days with James. Our insides are still a little screwy so it may have just upset it a little bit.

Hi all!

Had a good morning as been to Bumps and Babies group and met up with all from our antenatal class. Phoebe was very well behaved and enjoyed the introduction to Jo Jingles that was on this week so think that is definietely something we'll be looking to do when she is old enough.

LK I am another one who is up north in West Yorkshire so quite a way from you. Glad James slept through and whilst he may be lighter than Phoebe he is gaining weight and that is the main thing. Glad he seems to be a bit happier! Florabean - again Harry is gaining weight and I agree with not comparing to others!

Thanks for all your welcome back messages and hopefully I can keep up with at least one post a day!

Hope we are all having a good day and those who have snow are enjoying it - only a few wintry showers here!

It has snowed 3 times today but hasn't settled whatsoever. James just inhaled 4oz of milk without even coming up for air lol. About time he ate properly again.

Anyone else completely over excited about christmas?!

so happy he's back to eating properly :hugs:

Hehe thanks Jo. Hes now sound asleep having spent half an hour chatting and giggling while I sang nursery rhymes to him. And he had a little look at the snow that was falling.

Ooo I so can't wait for christmas. We are going to my parents house on christmas eve and my mum is looking after James so I can go out with my friend for a drink, then we are staying at my nans house as its her first christmas without my granddad so it will be hard. Then in the morning we are off to my sisters house cos she is hosting christmas as her house is bigger. Not coming back home until 27th so we will have 4 days of being pampered and spoiled. Will be great.

What are everyone elses plans?

I'm not feeling like Christmas at all, not putting the tree up as we are packing to move (should be moving in 3 ish weeks) With the move money is very tight and my smp starts soon so no pressies other than for the children this year.

We're very excited about Christmas! We are doing absolutely NOTHING!!! We have plans to eat as much as possible, make full use of the stash of home-brew that hubby has accumulated and watch far too much TV while playing board games!

The snow has kind of settled here. The roads are still clear but the fields are all white!

LK - So glad that James is back on his food! :happydance:

Bingers - Us Yorkshire girls have been talking about having a meet up (there's quite a few of us up here as you know!) I'm going to pop thread into Meets soon so we can make arrangements.....thought it might be of interest.

Earl was back to normal last night - woke up at 2 after going down at 7.30 as usual and then up again at 6 so our normal 6+4 split. We'll see how long he lasts though as he's pretty much taking all of a 7oz bottle each time  Gannet! I've bought a couple of cartons of hungry baby milk to try out sometime (when he's 8 weeks) as I have a feeling he may be up to 8oz very shortly! I'm hoping we can get him to at least 10 weeks as I don't really want to have to change his food at the same time as his first jabs.

Other than that...not a lot going on really. Hubby got back from work earlier and he'd had a coming together with a pheasant which has dented his bonnet and broken the grill at the front of the car :nope: Looks like we'll have to get that fixed in the New Year!!

Have a good evening ladies xx
