Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

Morning girls. Well James is definitely teething! He sat on my lap last night and chewed on my fingers til they were dripping lol. Going to mothercare to get him a Bumbo tomorrow so will get him some of those teething rings that go in the fridge. Guess it will make weaning easier if he has teeth lol. Has anyone else already bought weaning stuff so it is ready?

LK Lol yep Top Gear, he records it but instead of pressing pause up goes the volume :dohh:

We have a few weaning stuff, we got some for Christmas for her! I bought a book about it ages ago too so will be looking in there when the time comes. I think she wont be an early weaner though . . . she is on hungry baby food but isn't taking her full feeds anymore, its like she has gone down! Which is good, she is satisfied.

It's going to be hard though as she will be at the Childminders by then . . . darn work, the closer it gets to me going back the more I don't want to go! Things are only getting started with me and Chloe . . . I need to win the lottery badly, not even milllions and millions ~ just enough for me to stay at home would be nice! I feel like I am going to miss out on all the fun milestones that I should be there for!

Happy new year everyone.

Sam is 13 weeks today :)

Kaites thats a cute video of emma giggling, sam has started having giggle fits too lol its so funny.

Im pretty sure sam is teething too, there is a bit on his gum that is so red and he is chomping on anything that is near his mouth. Got some bonjela which seems to be working :)

LK Im pretty sure sam will be getting weaned about 4ish months, he's very hungry boy and if i feel he needs it i'll try him on baby rice.
Chloe started with that for breakfast at about 15 weeks she became lots more settled and became a good eater, i didnt force it on her, if one day she didnt want it i just gave her a bottle.

jo - I think I will be weaning James at 4ish months too. He is already taking nearly as much milk as his cousin who is 8 months old! We bought bowls, spoons, sippy cup, baby rice and some jars to try him on. Will be pureeing some of my own stuff too.

Is anyone elses LO pulling themselves forward? James started doing this last week and now I'm scared to leave him alone in the bouncer even to go for a shower cos the HV said once they can do this they can tip them over. Am I just being silly? Going to buy him a Bumbo tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure Emma is teething too. She likes to grab my finger and pull it to her mouth to gnaw on now. She's been out of sorts too (probably a combination of the holidays, a growth spurt and teething) and is back to waking in the middle of the night and doesn't want to sleep in her crib or the pack and play- she's only happy when snuggled to mummy. I suppose there are worse "phases" to be going through.

What kind of weaning gear have you bought? We need to get a high chair but our Bumbo has a tray so if Emma's chunky thighs still fit the Bumbo by 6 mths, we can always let her sit in that to snack. My BIL bought me a blender for xmas to make purees, but I didn't have the heart to tell him I plan to BLW and won't be doing purees- I can still use it to make myself margaritas ;)

Anyone else have a LO who is finding creative ways to become mobile? Emma is using her legs to push herself along the floor when she is on her back, like an upside down inch worm. She was on the floor at my parents and wouldn't stay on the towel we had laid down for her- kept inching her way off so she was in a position to watch the TV. Looks like she has a thing for DIY shows!

Yep, Emma looks like she is doing pilates, trying to sit up in her reclined swing. If she's reclined on my lap, she'll also find ways to sit more upright.

Afternoon all, LK bumbo and play tray are on offer in mothercare in the sale I got Noah a red one yesterday (he looks so dinky in it) He was well spoilt yesterday and over the weekend. I did treat myself to some jeans though as my last pair had a hole in them  why is it I dont want to spend anything on me when Noah can have it?

Noah is teething, bought some tommee tippee gummy teethers but he doesn't quite get them. Got him some icy key teethers and he loves them.

OH is currently stuck in snow with what seems to be failed ABS we are meant to be signing for our new house tomorrow and im stuck over in Yorkshire.

Hi all and a Happy New Year!

Yes Phoebe has also started trying to pull herself up. The first time I really noticed it was last night when she was sat on my knee and did it and now she seems to be doing it wherever she is!

Yeah I did see the Bumbo on offer in Mothercare. Thats why I'm buying it tomorrow.

Kaites - James does that too lol. And wriggles himself round so hes in like a c shape so he can see the tv lol.

Maffie - I'm terrible for spending money on James rather than myself! Need some new clothes but buying stuff for James instead lol.

Chloe hasn't figured out being mobile yet, she tries to sit up a bit more if she is propped on my knee. Other than that she just gets really frustrated as you can see her little mind ticking and her being mad her limbs wont do what she wants!

She was dancing with her cousine the other day,

In regards to teething, how do you know? Chloe is always chewing her hands, its usually a sign she is hungry but she eats, sleeps for 15mins then wakes (I think due to her snuffily nose) and starts chewing again. I have no sign of rosey cheeks or teeth appearing but she does sometimes produce lots of bubbles. Could this be the start? I don't want to ignore the signs like a moron whislt she is being uncomfy!

i think harry is beginning to teeth too; he drbbles loads, loves to suck on his fists & chew other people's fingers... also sometimes his cheeks go red & he gets grizzly & i noticed his gums arent squishy anymore & he has a couple of hard white patches where his incisors are gonna be. fun!
harry doesnt try to pull himself up or anything coz he is going through a phase of refusing to sit!!! he either wants to be stood up on my lap, or laying on the floor kicking about. he also gets really stressed out if i put him on his tummy & looks like a writhing caterpillar... kinda face planting, shoving his butt in the air & using his toes to try & push forwards while screaming, then as soon as i turn him onto his back again, he's all smiley again!

random Q: what colour is FF baby poo? is it yellow like BF ones?

well, we move into our new house tomorrow & the inet isnt being installed until the 7th, so i wont be online this week at all. take care & see you all again after that! :)

ok my post has gone?!

EDIT: Lol no sorry, it was my PC playing up!

Flora ~ Yep, mustard or korma yellow

kte- cute video of Chloe dancing! I'm not too sure of all the teething cues either- i'm on the look out for drooling, red cheeks, chewing on stuff and general fussiness and Emma's got all of that happening. I'm going to head out to the pharmacy and pick up some baby orajel to see if that helps. I wish she could just tell me! (I plan to start baby signing in a few months so hopefully that will help a bit with communication!)

flora- good observation about the hard gums- I hadn't really noticed if Emma's used to be squishy  They are definitely hard now though. Good luck with the move!! I hope it goes smoothly for you!

Noah's mouth is now hard too.

We move tomorrow too so internet will be lacking  until oh decides who we go with. :dohh:

Good luck with move Maffie and hope its not too long before you are back :flower:

Good luck with your move too Flora!

Just very quickly popping in to say happy new year to everyone. Our Xmas present was as good as it could get - just like everyone said would happen, Monty's colic disappeared almost overnight. One day he was the grizzling, grumpy baby full of painful wind and crying for hours on end every minute. The next day he was this chirpy, happy, giggling baby who, apart from the odd night here and there, now sleeps for at least six or seven hours on the trot. We have had days where he hasn't cried all day, apart from a quick moan to tell us he is hungry. We have even had a night where he slept for ELEVEN hours (a long time I think for a BF baby). He has a little white dot on his top front gum, so that may be a tooth. I was shocked to hear of so many other Bumpkins pushing teeth - I thought most babies were teething around six months?

We're snowed in here. We pretty much have been for two and a half weeks. All quite exciting. Just fortunate that OH and I can work from home, otherwise we'd be severely lacking in cash by now!

I hope you've all had lovely Christmases with your LOs. To Maffie and FloraBean, I hope you both have fab house-moving days.

Gotta go, will be back as and when, but might be quiet for a while.

xx

So glad to hear Monty is feeling much better :hugs:

Hello All hope were all well, great news colsy, George was the same, fingers crossed for us both!!! Maffie & Flora goodluck with ur move xxxxxxxx
