Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

Mornin' Loves!

I finally have my house back .. the family is back in England! :)

There is FAR to much to catch up on, frigging chatty Catheys haha. So I'm gonna just pick up from this post on.

A little fun mile stone yesterday, Autumn can finally touch the floor in her Jumparoo! I roughly measured her with my tape measure and it read 25 inches.

What's everyones plans for today?

Hello all, hope were all well!!!, George is doing really well, he should of had his second lot of needles yday, but they cancelled it due to the weather, so guess what!, Daddy built him a snowman!!! its fab, here are a few pics

Wicked snowman, Aimee-Lou :)

I'm doing some work. It feels wrong with me in the office (I mean our office at home) while OH is doing full-time Daddy stuff. But I got offered some work and OH didn't, and somebody needs to pay the bills, so I said yes. Already today, when OH brought Monty upstairs for a feed, I felt like Monty had more time for Daddy than for me. It was weird (and sad) - Monty refused, and I really do mean refused, to make any eye contact with me. Has anybody else experienced this? It brought a few tears to my eyes. Daddy told me that I was imagining things and then whisked him away for a walk. We always planned to share childcare between the pair of us, as we're both self-employed and so can split work/childcare. But it feels odd. But then really there's no reason why it should always be Daddy who works and Mummy who does all the childcare, and it's defo better this way than Monty going to a childminder or nursery or something (better for us I mean - I don't mean to pass judgement on anybody else's choices). But it still feels a bit wrong. Anybody else doing things this way? xx

We have days where sam only wants fun with daddy and doesnt talk to me but then when he's had enough and gets grizzly he always wants to come back to me for cuddles.
I am going back to work full time in april which i am really dreading but i earn the most so i have to go back, OH works part time in the nights mainly 5-10pm so he will be looking after Sam all day, i know he's fine with daddy all day but im scared im gonna miss stuff or he's gonna be not so fussed about me, but we have no choice.

Morning ladies!

Aimee lou- I've got the Gill Rapley book on order and am just waiting (impatiently) for it arrive. Glad to hear it's a good read. Seems like all I read now are baby related books, oh well! That's a fantastic snowman!!

Colsy- Emma has days where she spends more time with Daddy and then seems to try to ignore me, despite needing me for food. I realized that when I go back to work, I'll be the "primary bread winner" around here too- I go back to work in September but then in December, hubby is taking off about 4 months to spend with Emma. Despite having a year off now, I'm totally jealous of the time they are going to have together and wish I didn't have to work, but my job now pays more and I have better benefits. I'm going to work an evening shift and organize my schedule so that I work weekends too so that Emma only has about 3 half days in daycare per week. We are trying to minimize her daycare time so that we save money and get to spend more time with her.

Chaos- welcome back- hope you had a good visit with your family! Emma finally realized yesterday that if she jumps in the exersaucer, it plays music. It's nice having another toy to amuse them, isn't it? :)

LK- is your parent's house colder than your place? Emma screams down the house if I don't put the space heater on first

Sam76- awesome snowman! All these snowmen make me think it's time to have some fun in the backyard too!

Well, I suppose I should get going- I hear Emma screaming for food and daddy can't help with that... Have a good day!

Just noticed my ticker- Emma is 3 months today! Gosh that flew by quick... :)

Kaites ~ Yup! Autumn realized a couple of weeks ag that if she pulls the toys on her jangly thing, it plays music. I know what you mean about time flying .. I was just thinking today that Autumn is 14 weeks old and that this time in two weeks, Autumn will be 4 months old

Heres a little movie of Autumn chatting today.

Evening everyone....

I feel really sorry for Earl tonight. He's having a really bad time with his teeth...it's almost like actually drinking from a bottle hurts so at bedtime tonight I had to give him calpol, get him to sleep, then dream feed him. Poor little mite. Thankfully during the day bonjela seems to work ok but he was chomping down on my finger so hard. It feels like his canines are coming through top and bottom. There is definite sharpness there.....anyone who's had puppies will know that feeling lol. At least with babies you don't tread on their baby teeth! - still he's asleep now. He slept til 5am last night but seeing as he only took 4oz just now I don't think we'll be in for another long night's sleep. I may give him another dream feed instead so that he can sleep it off. We shall see.

Hope we're ok otherwise. My toothache is going away now thank goodness....only taken all day lol. Hubby has 1 more day left of his hols and seeing as we are snowed in, it looks like we have another day in the house tomorrow. It's an absolute tip but I'm not wasting one minute of 'quality time'...that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it! lol

I'm loving all the snowmen! Hubby is incredibly proud of his snowman and has named it 'Bryn' lol.

Best be off ladies....time for tea! :happydance:

Evening ladies!

All these snowmen, I seriously have missed out but I am being a wuss with my cold. I love the snow but I hate being cold! Apparently its 23 degrees in this room right now but I have fingerless gloves on, lol I think its just where the thermometer is.

Argh I am soooo mad, I am absolutely fuming with my OH tonight, worse thing is he is asleep and doesn't know! I was sat upstairs earlier on today in the front room which is over the cellar. He was off due to the snow today and so had decided to do some DIY. Which is all fine and good but I was sat upstairs with Chloe and I could smell this funny smell so I shouted at him becasue I thought he was smoking down there. He said he wasn't so I though maybe I had got it wrong, maybe it was a DIY smell or my poorly nose was out of sorts. Anyways, this evening I went to get a basket full of clean clothes from the tumble dryer which lives in the cellar. They are Chloes clothes, I brought up the basket and got her some PJ's out of it and got her ready for bed. I then decided to put the clean clothes into another basket of her clean clothes and start a new dirty one for as her dirty clothes were piling up (thanks for sticking with me!). Anyway, I notied some dirty ash from a cig all over the clothes! There was a big blob of fag ash in there too. I am soooo angry that he lied to me and that he smoked in the house with Chloe in so she will have breathed in those crappy fumes too and now she has dirty fag chemicals over her clothes which I will have to re-wash. I felt bad for accusing him too! I hate that he lied to me, I don't believe in lies in a relationship no matter how small as they can lead to bigger lies, and more importantly that he just didn't care that it would affect Chloe!

Chaos ~ adorable video of Autumn!

Aimee ~ Thanks for the book info. I got a letter throught the post today inviting me and Chloe to a weaning class in a few weeks time so I will be popping along to that too. Hope Earl feels better soon, pesky teething stage! They just get all playful and happy and now the teeth kick in and cause pain poor little ones!

Colsy ~ I have to go back full time otherwise we would say bye bye to our house. Wish I had a work at home job like yourself! Our plans are for me to go back full time (grrr) and OH stay full time, but he finishes in the afternoon so basically Chloe will go to a Childminder for half a day 4 or 5 days a week depending on when OH's day off is and he will pick her up and have her in the afternoons. So he will be the one getting to take her to baby clubs etc the lucky git!

Bonfloss ~ Great news about Rachel's colic going!

EDIT:

Oh yeah Aimee, you reminded me. Chloe was chompling on her bottle so I stuck a teether toy in her mouth and she had a right good gumm at it! Everone keeps saying, "its too early" (as in family) but I honestly do think she is starting, and like LK said (I think) it can take her months to cut a tooth but she could still be starting to teeth.

Afternoon Ladies...

Yet another snow day!?!? And as of yet we've not seen a flake... Beautiful blue skyout there...

CC is really starting to stay awake during the day now, ok so she still sleeps all morning until about 11am ish after a feed at 7/8 ish... We really are starting to get much more sleep... Still wake up grotty in the morning but I think that's cause I'm not in bed at 9pm... (guess old habits die hard...)

She's a right smiley chunky thing... Starting to find a voice too, think she shocks herself a little when she uses it as all of a sudden she does the shocked where did that come from look... Best go she needs feeding again....

Oh my life, what a grizzler we have today (and yesterday and the day before :growlmad:). I really had thought that the grumps would go when the colic went, but it seems not so. I dunno, maybe it's just me expecting everything to be too perfect ... but on the other hand, I hear tales of all these Bumpkins and other BnB babies who don't seem to cry from one day to the next and I think "My baby, that ain't!" Basically, we have one of those babies who we can't put down - and we don't know whether this is our fault for picking him up too often in the beginning or whether it's just his nature. Check out my post here https://www.babyandbump.com/baby-cl...still-have-grumpy-fussy-baby.html#post4018121 if you're interested.

I didn't think I'd say this, but I'm beginning to tire of the snow. We haven't been able to leave our village since the afternoon of New Year's Eve! OH takes Monty out in the sling, but the roads and paths are so slippy that I'm nervous of doing so, so the best I can do is walk beside them. We can't use the pram as the wheels just get stuck in the snow. Almost glad to be working for a few hours this week, as it helps with the cabin fever.

Was just thinking this morning how we've lost quite a few of the old team - BabyLove, TaylorsMummy, LindaK to name just a few. I wonder what's happened to all the girls who are no longer posting in the Bumpkins thread. Girls, if you're reading this, hello to you all and hope you are well xx

Well we are back in Aylesbury now. OH came and picked us up so that my parents wouldnt get stuck up here in the snow. James is pushing up on his legs lots lol. Think I might have to get him a Jumparoo when I get paid.

hi guys, i've not been around much for ages, i'm not online enough to keep up in threads like these. so just a quick hello! sam is very lovely and settled, but also insists on being held at all times. he wont even go in his pram. so now i have 4 different types of sling so i have one for every circumstance and he lives on me! lol i dont mind though, i love all the cuddles.

Hi Hopedance, nice to see you popping in here. Glad to hear Sam is settling well. You're not alone in having a baby who hates being put down on his own - we've got one here! What slings are you using? I use the Close Baby and OH uses a basic Baby Bjorn. I thought I'd use a sling all the time, but I do find it hurts my back after a while. Always interested to hear other people's experiences of them ...

i have a moby stretchy wrap sling, 2 calin bleu woven sings in different sizese, and a ring sling. i really want a Maya Tie as well but i dont think i can justify buying any more slings!! it does hurt my back too, the joints in the back of my pelvis are pulling apart when i stand/walk for more than about 1-2 minutes, but pushing the pram hurts more (only used it twice!) than wearing the sling does. i always wear it with a backpack as a nappy bag which balances me out, so the least pressure is on my muscles.

Emma doesn't like to be put down either unless it's to play in her exersaucer or swing. We babywear too- it works well for us though and I don't mind. We've got a Moby wrap, a BabyHawk meitai and I made a Mai Tai using a pattern off the internet. We used to have a sling and a snugli-style carrier but they didn't work for us. Colsy, is it possible that Monty is teething? Emma's colic cleared and then within a few weeks, she was teething and back to having grumpy spells.

hopedance- good to see Sam is doing well!
Aimee- glad to hear your toothache is a bit better
kte- :hugs: that sucks about your OH lying about smoking.

I'm excited- I got Emma and I signed up for Mum and Baby Yoga classes starting next Tuesday :) We are also signed up for a baby massage class in February... and better yet, the class is free! :) Hope everyone is having a good day!

Yeh, it's possible. But if so, he may well have been teething since birth LOL as his fists have been in his mouth almost since the day he was born, he's always been a dribbler, and he has, I'm afraid to say, always been a grumpy baby  I love him to bits, completely and utterly, and I hate myself for whingeing about him, it's just wrong to complain about your own child isn't it? If it is teeth, does this mean we will have a grumpy baby until he's 3 years old, as I've read that that's how long teething goes on for? I'd quite like to think we've instilled some chirpiness into the little chap by then!

I hope not- I complain about Emma's grumpiness to friends and family all the time :haha: I think she's just a sensitive kid- or at least that's what I keep telling myself when she's grumpy

Evening all,

My back usually hurts from the changing bag rather than Chloe in the carrier / sling but it's still easier to baby wear sometimes depending on where I am going. The pram has been parked for weeks because of this weather, she won't fit the pram bit I bet by the time I can get it out again!

I had a word with OH so lets hope the issue is resolved. I'm not keen on him smoking but know it is down to him to quit, my gripe isn't that its the fact he was acting like some teenager hiding a fag from his parents ~ all the while he is exposing Chloe to those awful chemicals! Anyway, rant over!

I bought Chloe's christening outfit today, a nice sparkly silver dress with a matching cardigan, 3-6 months. She has a nice pair of white tights that can go with it. OH Mum and Dad got her a bracelet for Christmas so I think he wants her to wear that, plus my Mum has dug out what she thinks is my old Christening bracelet too which I think will be a really nice touch, lets hope it was mine and not one of my sisters!!

The week after is one of my nephews 8th birthday party and my sis is doing pirate fancy dress. I need to find Chloe a costume - cheap! lol

I'm still around but with 3 kids to look after I sometimes find it a struggle to post more often  I'm sure those of you with more than 1 child will be the same!

Ethan is now over his chest infection  and seems to be getting back to a good sleeping pattern. Had a grumpy day yesterday, also had his jabs yesterday which added to the grumpiness, but today he's been so happy and smiley.

Health visitor came out to weigh him on Tuesday and he now weighs 12lb 8..he's bang on the 50th centile for that, on the 75th for his length and 25th for his head circ.

Still breastfeeding and I'm loving it, especially now he strokes my boobs lovingly as he's feeding, whilst staring up at me :cloud9: :cloud9:

Lovely snowpeople (thats the PC term lol) everyone! OH and the kids made one last night and took a pic, will have to try remember to post some pics up tommorow.

Love to you all xx
