Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

Ive apologised on here regarding the tone of the comment, and I dont think there is a need for that kind of comment.

Tbh no I dont think she is, I have read some of her other posts and find them to be very contradicting. I did everything I could to get Phoebe seen and I certainly wouldnt have waited 10 days with a distressed baby to see a GP.

LK knows very well who I am. Granted I shouldnt have posted my feelings on here I should have just emailed her or pm'd her.

Who the hell do you think you are judging her mothering skills? She posted on here for a vent, not to be judged by some know it all. She didn't ask for your opinion, or to be judged. This is a SUPPORT thread. Not a "berate the other Mums because they don't do as I did"

I could fully understand if she posted and asked "what would you do, what do you think" but she did not. If the Dr thought it was life threatening, then they would bring the baby in. If it got dire, then I'm totally believe LK would take him in to be seen.

Every child is DIFFERENT. Just because your kids crap didn't look like his, it don't mean its a different thing going on.

Coming on here and being so harsh and know it all amongst a close knit bunch of ladies aint going to win you any friends, love, and WILL get these kind of reactions. These girls have been here for me for nearly a year now, and I for one will defend them against anyone.

Thanks Chaos. And actually Rache83 I don't have a clue who the f*** you are, although I have an idea from your attitude. Just because you are with my ex and did SOME nurse training does not give you the right to come on here and criticise my parenting skills, or my motivations with regards to MY son.

Not being posting much again but still reading all your posts as can manage to do this when feeding!

I had to post today though to second what Chaos has said re this been a great support thread and this is what we give each other so the comments by Rach83 are not welcome! LK you are obviously doing all you can for your little boy so ignore such unwelcome comments! Also wanted to say I followed your lead re putting my little girl in her MY3 in pushchair mode and like James she loves it!

Hey Bingers!

Good to see you about :) Glad its all going well for you :)

Bingers- thanks hun! Glad she likes the pushchair. James refuses to lie flat in the pram now and will do baby abdo crunches trying to sit himself up pmsl.

Its so damned cold here!!! There are actually icicles hanging from the buildings! Phoned the HV again and left a message this morning about not being able to get hold of any LF milk. No reply as yet, guessing they are having problems cos of the snow. The only place I can find that sells SMA LF is Boots and the bus isn't running cos of the roads so I can't get there :(

Colsy - It's not wrong to complain about your own LO. Earl has his moments lol He has developed a 'sad face' where before he starts to cry his bottom lip juts out and wobbles and he just looks so upset, like you've really hurt his feelings. It's funny at times but you just feel awful if you make him do it accidentally. Earl has been teething for a couple of weeks now I reckon....he has good days where you just wouldn't know, and some days like yesterday which must be agony for him and he's totally inconsolable. I've heard that they go in waves of about 2 weeks at a time. He also has days where you can't go more than 3 feet from him.....they are really quite annoying at the time but I try to remember that despite how long it may seem since he was born, he's still only tiny, and just wants him mummy/daddy.

So true, Aimee. I often forget that it's actually only 12 weeks since Monty popped (well, was suctioned!) into the world. Sometimes it feels like much much longer, but really 12 weeks is hardly any time at all. Not sure we can describe Earl and Monty as "tiny" though!!! :)

Well, yes that's true. He's anything but 'tiny' lol

Chaos & LK - Who on Earth was that? Advice for all Bumpkins - Don't feed the Troll!!

How are we all today?

Colsy - I'm glad that Monty had a good night. It's so good when they have a good night. If Earl has a night like that it's normally a good day to follow too. Having said that, Wednesdays seem to be Earl's night for sleeping through....the last three it's been at least 6am lol. Fingers crossed that he's seen the last of that nasty colic!

LK - I hope that James is ok. :hugs:

We are having a fun time at the moment. Earl is trying to learn to reach out for things. Once again the Sky remote seems to be the object we want most in the entire world!! He's flailing his arm in the right direction now which is more than yesterday when it would go directly out to his side....we're getting there slowly! He's looking decidedly large in his bouncy chair too....really need to get his rocker sorted! Just need to find £50 and order it off Amazon...at least it will last until he's 2 (well supposedly lol).

Best be off...I've got to tidy out the kitchen cupboards. We've started an 'eating properly' resolution as of today. Had soup for lunch instead of 5 chocolate bars throughout the day lol. I've got to chuck all the rubbish out and work out what meals I can make. It's all in prep for Earl doing BLW but it's never too early to start.

Have a nice evening everyone...hope we're all ok and keeping warm. We've had YET MORE snow. It's starting to wear a bit thin now (well, I say that nbut I can hardly see the dog in the garden now lol).

Aimee-Lou - that was my ex's new missus. Aparantly she thought she could come and attack me cos she used to be a friend. Ah well shes totally not worth getting upset over.

Smeg 1 handed typing sucks, I just deleted my post, here goes attemp no 2!

LK ~ how about trying to order some online like Tesco deliveries? My sis called them out last week and they still came even though the snow is really bad there.

Gee, I missed all that madness, it was below the belt, but :hugs: we are hear for you.

Aimee ~ I was thinking about you when they mentioned your area-ish on the news. Good luck being ruthless! I too have started to eat better in prep for BLW. I mentioned it to OH the other day and he is up for it too.

I liked your troll saying! :haha: must remember that one when I need to bit my tongue!!

Well I was sooooo looking forward to the weekend, first weekend in ages OH and I would be off together but he has been asked to go in tomorrow. Unfortunatly money is getting a bit on the tight side and will be worse with car tax and Mot's coming up (down side of having 2 cars) so he has had to go in. Im upset but know why he is doing it. Still sucks though!

Do we all have any nice weekend plans or haS THE snow stumped them?

In other news, I found a pirate costume  I posted in the sale section and someone actually had one! What are the chances. Bargain at £6!!

Tesco don't sell it. Asda apparantly do but our nearest is about 20 miles away so they won't deliver here. Hes not a happy bunny at all tonight. Feel so bad cos I can't settle him at all. Have given him some bonjela which worked for about a minute but we are back to crying and screaming again :( He is fed, clean and snuggled in. Hes not cold or hot. Should I give him calpol? I know they are only supposed to have 2 doses and hes had more. But hes 12 weeks so that counts as 3 months right?

Over here my pediatrician recommended giving Autumn Tylenol Drops after her jabs. That was when she was 12 weeks. Kids Tylenol is basically the same as Calpol, and Autumns dose was 0.4ml. I'm sure he'll be fine, if in doubt, just give NHS direct a tinkle and see what they say about it. :hugs:

LK - I would give him another half dose if it will help him to sleep. It breaks my heart to see them in such a state.

Kte - It's hubby's saying really lol, but I like it! Thought it was very appropriate given the tone.

The weather is rubbish up here! There is now a foot of snow on the ground and hubby has to go to work in the morning...it's been snowing more so I hope he'll be ok in the morning.

I managed to clear nearly 3 bags of stuff out of the cupboards. Old packets of flour that were stuffed at the back lol. Also half eaten jars of jam that have been there lords knows how long lol. I'm going to to try tomorrow to write out a meal plan and then we're going shopping next week to get all the stuff. I also have a tonne of apples to peel, core and make into various crumbles, pies and sauces lol.

Well done on the pirate costume!!

Ooh my tea is ready....have a good evening ladies. My weekend seems really quiet. We have to get hubby's UCAS application sorted  can't wait to get the ball rolling on that!! :happydance: Have a good weekend everyone xx

Evening All...

I forgot how much you lot chatter away... Nice to be back LOL

Colsy ~ CC gives eye contact and smiles when feeding, I stroke her hand, top of her head, soles of her feet and the side of her face... Not all the time mind... She's rather a contended little girl... Not sure if any of them would help encourage Monty to give you a reassuring smile...

In fact I think you're all doing well; parenting is no easy task, but a great challenge...

I've had a busy day, lost OH this morning; then we set to and move us out of CC's room... It looks so massive... All her furniture is in there, changing table, ottoman, wardrobe, shelves and rocking chair... There's still plenty of room... I love it... May take a few pics to show you all...

Yet again I get on here and CC starts wanting to feed... Catch you all tomorrow...

whoa- looks like I missed quite the morning on BnB! :hugs: to LK! Doctor also recommended kids tylenol when Emma had her jabs. I hope James is feeling better. It would be so much easier if they could just tell us what is wrong!

I had a rather boring day- finally took down the xmas tree in the living room (still have to do the one in the basement). My mother firmly believes that it's bad luck to have the tree up past epiphany so looks like I'm destined for bad luck this year, lol! Hubby took Emma out for a daddy-daughter afternoon. He's discovered that people treat him differently if he is out with the baby alone. He always comes home from their little outings all happy and confident- so cute. I love the break it gives me too :) Random question- do you have little nicknames for your babies? We call Emma "Emma Bean", "Bean" and "Beanster"- I don't know how it started but I realized today that my hubby rarely calls her Emma and mostly just uses these nicknames. Poor kiddo is going to think her name is Bean!

Anyway, hope everyone is having a nice evening! :hugs: to those that need them :)

Well it took a dose of calpol and swaddling with his mussy against his face and his dummy in his mouth to get him to sleep. I ended up putting him in his cot, shutting the door of his nursery and phoning my mum cos I was losing it. Thankfully the calpol kicked in after about 30 minutes which coincided with when I went back into him (after about 3 or 4 minutes) and the quick cuddle and swaddling did the trick. Phoned OH in tears so he is going to Asda to see if he can find any lactose free milk.

Weeeeeeeeeeee I'm so excited! Look what Autumn started doing tonight!!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbAZ6xqa0rs

She did it like 6 times in a row lol. This was the last time she did it and was a bit tired by then so needed a lil bit of encouragement. I can't believe she did it!!

Aimee ~ Re shopping, that's EXACTLY what I do. I plan meals out for the week on Sunday and then just go shopping for the stuff I need for those meals. I got fed up of doing the same as you .. cleaning out and chucking away bags of food. Plus we're on a loose weight thing. Now I shop like this, I can do a weeks shopping for 50 bucks .. about 30 quid. That includes meats and veg!

Eswift ~ Can you tell me what "CC" stands for? It's driving me NUTS haha.

Kaites ~ My OH calls Autumn a chick magnet cause everyone talks to him when he's out pushing her lol.

LK ~ Sorry you're having a rough night. Get your self a nice glass of wine and have a hot bath and some "you time"
It won't last forever, its just a lil hiccup. You watch, as soon as that lactose free milk is in him, he'll be a different lil chap. :hugs::hugs:

Ok we're off for our evening walk. Gotta wrap up warm, I just saw a couple of brass monkeys run past with welding gear!!

Ok one more for you to make you laugh when you get up! :)

Morning ladies.

Chaos - Well done Autumn :happydance:. Earl is still battling away to get his arm to go in the right direction lol. He's having a sleepy day today so I think he'll wake up much more capable lol. I used to do the shopping thing before but I just got into a bad habit...but now it's gotten so expensive to use the supermarkets that hubby and I have taken to going to the local greengrocers, butchers and bakers, or where possible doing our own baking and we've cut our food bills in half just by doing that. I'm hoping that by doing the meal planner I will be able to cut it down still further and actually make use of the slow cooker a bit more. We're also sick of the regular meals and junk food which seem to have become regular since having Earl :dohh: I'm on the hunt for recipes today.....wish me luck lol.

Hubby made it to work....just! Even he was on the verge of just turning around as it was so bad and he's a professional driver. If it continues he's not going to work on Monday by order of me!!!!! I'm putting my foot down as I couldn't actually sleep once he'd gone to work this morning and ended up moving Earl downstairs to sleep so that I could be by the phone. :dohh:

Best be off....got to go and try to find the room to drape a weeks washing inside the house and without using the tumble dryer (the condenser isn't working as the room is colder than the ice inside it! :dohh:) .....it's going to look like a chinese laundry! lol

Have a good day ladies :hugs:

For the 3rd day in a row now my computer has lost my bloomin' post! *note to self, copy and paste!*

Morning all,

Chaos ~ Wow, you must be bursting with pride! Go Autumn!! Her giggles are infectious too!

Kaites~ We used to call Chloe 'Bean' or 'Babybean' when I was pregnant with her! My Mum even found this really cute plush doll that is a baby that lives in a bean and got Chloe it for Christmas. I have added a pic as my description is rubbish!

https://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g110/Kitty_fantastic_o/Chloe%20Louise/100_2171.jpg

Now we call her 'Peeky' as when she is asleep she leaves one eye open for ages to make sure she isn't being put down or anything! (She sometimes sleeps with her eyes open like OH, freaks me out!) Other times we call her 'Giggily Goo' or 'Grumpy Goo' depending on her mood obviously! Peeky is the main one though, also because she is so observant and loves watching people.

LK ~ Glad your OH has gone to get the food, that must be a weight off your mind. Hope James feels better soon :hugs:

Aimee ~ Good luck on the recipe hunt! James Martin's Saturday Kitchen is on at 10! lol Recipe ideas :winkwink: I know it's not exactly easy to sit and watch TV anymore, I have it as background noise sometimes so I don't get cabin feaver.

OH's plan when he has Chloe's on Fridays is to take her into the local town and buy fresh veg and meat from the local shops. He has been looking forward to that for ages bless! We got into lots of bad hbbits too but I so want Chloe to experience all the wonderful food and home cooking that I did when I was being brought up!

OH has gone to work, he wishes he hadn't and so do I. He keeps on getting stuck and is really behind on his run. Not good. I wish he would just turn back but work will have a go at him. I just want him home safe, it might take hours and hours but so long as he gets back in one piece I will be happy. Just don't like him being out there with all this snow and more to come.

Today I defo wish my washing machine lived indoors, its such a faff going outdoor to it, it plays up anyway but the cold is freezing the pipes and I NEED to wash so much. :dohh: Well, off to go boil a kettle and pour it over the pipes!

Have a good day all :hugs:
