Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

Evening girls. We've had a good day. James rolled onto his tummy this morning. We went to Milton Keynes and managed finally to get hold of some Lactose Free milk. James thinks its the best thing ever and drank 5.5oz in about 4 minutes at 6.30pm. Now having another feed lol. Looking very sleepy so hoping he will go straight down. Not expecting as long a sleep tonight as its not as heavy as the comfort milk.

Oh and earl gets called 'Burly' and Earlington as well as Monster, Monster munch and all sorts!

We call Monty "Monster Munch", partly because he eats so much and partly because, as some of you know, it was my random craving for pickled onion flavour Monster Munch that made me realise I was pg, way back in Feb of last year! But hey Aimee, it REALLY doesn't surprise me that our babies share a nickname. Everything else we do seems to match, LOL

Morning all just...

CC's rubbing her eyes, moaning... Bless her she's tired after just being fed...

We had another good night, although she didn't setlle until 11.30... What I sight I was, boob, out crying babe, finger in mouth; she didn't know what she wanted, didn't want her back rubbed, didn't want to lie, didn't want to sit, didn't want feeding, didn't need changing... OH got to the point he said do you want me to have her you tried everything you can, then you can sort her out... All of a sudden she went quiet eyes closed and zzzzing away as if the past hour hadn't even occurred?!?! LOL wonder what the neighbours thouht I was doing to her... Guess we'll be trying to settle her earlier tonight....

What a grey day???

Hello all, well Noah is determined to be sat up. he's constantly pulling on things to try to sit up. He loves sitting next to me on the sofa. He's getting so long I dont think he'll be fitting in his pram soon.I'm such a shortie so shocked at his length.

It's OH's birthday today so hoping to have a nice afternoon together. I might even try getting down the ill

Afternoon Ladies And Babies!!
Ashton slept last night from 9:30pm to 8:30am this morning! he did wake at 5:15am because he wanted his dummy but went straight back to sleep!!
how are we all today?
i've been to the dentist this morning as i have terrible toothache...
turns out i have an abcess and need to have my tooth taken out :( so have to go back on thursday! :(
hows the snow with everyone lately??
Ashton seems to be going off his feeds lately, like this morning, he woke up after 11 hours sleep, and then was just lying in his cot giggling and talking to his mobile...
he then decided he was hungry at about 9ish, and then only drank about 3 ounces, and then about an hour later he wanted more??
would you say this is normal??
xx

Hi girls,

Just seen on Kte's facebook that Chloe is in hospital and they don't know what's wrong.

I hope that she's ok. Just thought you would like to know in case you want to send get wells. :hugs:

Hope we're all ok. Earl is keeping me on my toes today - eating every 2 hours and being VERY awake....payback after yesterday lol. Hubby is bringing fish and chips tonight for tea!! :happydance: We're also off out 'Earl' shopping tomorrow as his CB has got to buy him the clothes he didn't get for Christmas so I'm hoping that the sales will be good lol. Got to get all the clothes to last him a year  I've also bought him a 'Prop and Play' mat off Asda and a few bits as I can't get to ASDA any more (well, I just don't want to go actually! lol) and the delivery charge is cheaper than the petrol! lol  I'm hoping it will get Earl a bit more enthused about Tummy time. At the moment he just lies there motionless then 4-5 mins later he will just start flipping out lol. It's also got a detachable teether on it....woohoo!

I hope we're all ok otherwise. Lots of love and hugs to Kte and Chloe!! :hugs:

Afternoon girls. Kte - hope Chloe is ok hunni and gets well soon.

James is sooo much happier already on the lactose free milk. And we have done a meal plan for the next 2 weeks to use up some of the stuff we have here lol. Hoping it will make shopping alot cheaper especially as it looks like I'm going to be on my own pretty soon. Having some major issues with OH which this afternoon ended up with him shoving me up against a wall so he is out on his ear for the moment. He has to stay here tonight cos of work and the flat at work has been sold as a room for tonight cos they are full. He is sleeping in the living room cos I don't want to even look at him right now. I actually can't stop shaking and I sat and cried for about 10 minutes after he left before I managed to pull myself together so as not to upset James. Hope everyone is having a better day than me lol.

LK, I'm thinking of you. I don't have any advice, as thankfully I have never been in your situation. But it goes without saying that the most important thing is to keep yourself and James safe, regardless of what OH says or does. Do the right thing for you and James, whatever you think that might be. I am sending you lots of hugs xx

Thanks Colsy. I have no qualms in calling the police on him if he gets aggressive again. He can stay in the living room tonight but he had better sort himself out a place to stay. It's my mums birthday today and I don't want to spoil it otherwise I would have got my dad to come up and get rid of him.

LK - I hope you're ok hun. I second what Colsy said! Keep strong hun and look after yourself. Glad that the milk is working

Colsy - forgot to say that No, it's no surprise that Monty and Earl share a nickname - at the rate we're going we'll be meeting each other at the same school gates in a few years lol  .....If we end up in the Dales I will keep an eye out lol. Hubby is going to be doing his teacher training in about 3 years so will be starting his first teaching post just as Earl starts school so it's entirely possible as we'll go wherever he needs to be.

Earl is just napping on my lap - t-minus 10 minutes until I can expect him to be wailing with hunger! Do you think I should risk popping him down and making a cuppa and a sarnie? lol

ooh i dont envy you having to get a tooth out, i did just before xmas and i had a terrible time with it afterwards, its still not 100% better :( my daughter also had an abcess and the dentist gave her antibiotics and luckily it went away.

sam wakes in the morning giggling in his bed and then has a bottle when he feels like it but only takes a few oz but usually he'll take more after a hour or so.

my oh is from aberdare and his mum said the snow has been quite bad there, we're supposed to be getting it bad down here but i cant see it happening at the moment

kte - really hope chloe is ok and home very soon :hugs:

LK - i am so sorry your oh is being a complete twat, my ex used to do things like that to me and even done it when i was pg with hollie. The best thing he can do is bugger off till he can sort himself out, neither you or James need to be around someone like that :hugs: Do you know why he is acting a dick?

jo - no i've no idea what the hell his problem is. Hes talking about getting anger management classes.

LK ~ Hope things sort themselves out soon... Look after yourself and James...

Kte ~ Hope all's well with Chloe...

Aimee-Lou ~ We've just had fish and chips for our tea too... CC fell asleep in her swing, I'm gonna see if I can sneak for a bath now...

Anyone else found their LO is having a paddy before falling asleep on a night? OOooo, looks like CC's up for a bath too, now looking at me very wide eyed and smilie...

Catch you tomorrow...

Afternoon ladies :)

Just got back from our first mum and baby yoga class :) It was a small class with only 4 other mums and the instructor (her baby was only 5 weeks old and seemed so tiny!). 3 of the other babies were also born in October so it was cool to meet some mums with babies that are the same age. Emma seemed to love it too, although about halfway through she seemed over-stimulated and needed some boobie comfort for a few minutes so I can now say I've BF'd while doing yoga (added a bit of challenge while balancing on one leg, lol!). Anyway, it seemed to tire her out nicely and she's dozing away still. I can't wait til next week's class!

Kte- I hope Chloe is okay- get well soon! :hugs:
Aimee- those are cute names for Earl :)
LK- hope everything is okay with you too :hugs:
SarahJayne- Emma's feeding is all messed up right now too- I think it's the teething though. She used to sleep through the night, but now she's back to waking up at 4:30am and in the morning she's more of a snacker, taking shorter feeds more often. I'm hoping it's just a phase! :)

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Evening all,

(Aimee ~ thanks for letting people know and thank you all for your well wishes :hugs:)

I'll be reading back in a bit to catch up. Yesterday and today were pretty horrible days. Rollercoaster days. Monday about 9am I went to change Chloe's nappy and found blood in her poo :nope: Wasn't too sure what to do, called NHS Direct and they said see my GP or go to A&E. I called the doctors and the only appoinment I could get was 5.20pm. Chloe was okay in herself but like the NHS Direct nurse said, blood in the poo is not normal so I decided to get off to A&E. I got to A&E and OH joined me after work. We were taken to a Children's ward and given a room. They took lots of wee samples, she had to wear a maternity pad which seemed very weird! We waited hours for another poo sample, she didn't go until about 7pm! They also took some blood from her which was horrendous. She was screaming and screaming, he had to switch hands as the first one did nothing, he had to fill up three little tubes drip by drip whilst another nurse pinned her down. The blood samples came back fine although they never said what they were testing  They had a dirty nappy sample too but that result would not be back on Monday. One urine sample came back with something in it but the rest were okay so we were allowed to go home. If it had come back with something in it then should would have had to have a cannula and drip with antibiotics so I was so happy she didn't have to go through that. We were told to call them if we had any more proplems.

So . . . today. About 10am I changed her nappy and again there was blood in her poo. We called up the ward and they said to take her back in. They took some more urine samples and a new doc came to look at her. They were unsure what to do at first. The new doc examined her and noticed a tear on her bum, she has an anal fissure! (Thats one way of taking after Mum !) I couldn't believe it! Such a relief! We stayed until about 4pm as they continued to monior her but her feeds were fine and she was nice and active to they think its basically blood from the tear when she does a poo. They said if she seems lathargic or doesn't eat as much to take her back in. After another clear urine sample she was allowed to go home again :D

So we have a clinc to take her to on Monday for a follow up, I just don't want to see that hospital again until then!

So a huge relief that she is okay!

She was so brave, to be honest, minus taking blood she was so happy and enjoying her day out! Crazy girl!

Hey ladies,

So, we had Autumns 3 month pictures done today. For anyone that knows my daughter, you'll know she has a smile on her face 24/7. So .. over 100 photos taken .. not ONE smile. Can you even fricking BELIEVE that?! I'm pissed! lol.

Last night was our first night of trying to wean her from her swaddle, as she's going to go in to her room at 4 months and I'd rather she not be swaddled. We started with one arm out. I prepared my self for a night of pure hell. Well ... not a peep out of her lol. Tonight I'm going to try with both arms out , but still wrap the swaddle around her body iykwim.

NOT ONE FRICKING SMILE !!!! GAH!!! :dohh:

LK ~ YAY for James rolling on his belly. Fantastic news about the LF milk too.
HE DID WHAT!!!!????? WTF, What total knob jockey. How dare he!! I hope you're ok .. good on you for chucking him out. Needs to keep his damn hands to himself. Has he done this before?

Eswift ~ Sometimes Autumn gets like that when she's over tired. I just normally hold her and let her cry it out for about 2 minutes, then I offer her, her dummy, she takes it and is out like a light.

Maffie ~ lol @ Noah. I put Autumn leaning in her boppy today, so she was leaning back at like a 45 degree angle, walked to the kitchen to grab something (basically 5 steps, as downstairs is all open plan) came back and the little bugger was leaning forward playing with her toes!! If she had leaned forward any more she'd have been on the frigging floor.

SarahJayne ~ It might be normal for him .. its hard to compare him to others cause he might be like me .. I just can't face food first thing, but then lil miss demolishes 9oz as soon as she wakes up lol. He'll soon let you know if he's hungry. :)

kte ~ Glad to hear Chloe is ok!

not.ONE.smile. haha I'm vexed. Cause now shes stuffing down 8 oz and is all happy!

Ok bbl.

Aimee ~ we enjoyed fish and chips tonight, well mine went cold but I don't care, Chloe wanted a cuddle and a snooze! Hope you find some good bargains for Earl :D

OO I noticed Eswift had fish and chips as well, that makes three!

LK~Good to hear James is liking the new food  Sorry to hear about the trouble your OH is giving you, hope your okay :hugs:

Kaites~ Glad you enjoyed the yoga class. I like how we have the same nicknames too! I just call Chloe giggily-goo, usually in the morning. She has the cutest 'good morning' smiles it makes 6am seem alot easier! She can't giggle yet but is trying, the noises she makes are so funny, a really deep little noise. I need to record it!

We were supposed to start a postnatal group tomorrow afternoon but I am in two minds to go or not after the busy few days we have had. We can go to the one next week if we miss this one, there are 5 in a row. I thought it would be nice for Chloe to meet a few other babies.

SarahJayne ~ Chloe has smaller feeds at night, she usually eats 180ml in a day but at night drinks 90ml. Sometimes in the day she will drink a little and go back to it, usually its if she is really tired as she drops off but wakes up hungry again. She can wake up hungry in a morning but once I get her out of her basket I usually have an hour max where she watches me get dressed, I change her bum and get her dressed then she suddely remebers why she woke up and screams the house down! I have a bottle ready for when she does this! Like Chaos says, I'm sure your LO is fine, its just how he likes it! :flower:

The snow is slippy slush/ice now ~ not fun!

Maffie~ hope you can get to venture out soon!

Colsy~ I'm sure you will be fine looking after Monty on your own. Just enjoy a few relaxing days in?! :flower:

Chaos~ Awh, cheeky Autumn! Hope the swaddle weaning goes well :flower:

I just want to say thanks again for your support and messages everyone, it means a great deal xx

Colsy~ I'm sure you will be fine looking after Monty on your own. Just enjoy a few relaxing days in?! :flower:

LOL, if we have any more days in, I think we'll die of tedium. Seriously, Monty and I have not left the village since New Year's Eve, and even that was only to go to the deli two villages away. Maffie, who's moved to a town not that far from me, will know what I mean about being snowed in and unable to get up or down the hills!

We've been struggling with all kinds of things for the past week or so. Maybe my cabin fever is rubbing off on Monty, and making him grumpier than he should be. But I was just wondering how much sleep a baby of this age (12 and a half weeks) should be getting in 24 hours. He seems to need more sleep than he's getting but he just won't acknowledge that fact and he would rather be awake and miserable than sleeping in order to get back his cheeriness. He's sleeping about 11 hours at night (with a break in those 11 hours for milk and nappy), but during the day we're lucky if we get a total of two hours naps out of him, which means he often sleeps just 13 hours in one day. Surely for a baby of this age, this is too little? It would definitely explain why he's being so grumpy all the time wouldn't it. I'm trying a new technique today of every time he wakes from his nap going back in and singing quietly to him but refusing to take him out or get him up. So far this has made him go back to sleep two or three times, so he's now been in bed for an hour and three-quarters, with some of that time crying but a lot of it asleep. This is an improvement. Has anybody else tried this and eventually found that it make baby realise that sleep is good during the day?

Kte, so glad that Chloe is home safe and sound. It must have been so scary for you. Can they "fix" the fissure, or is it just something Chloe has to live with or will it get better on its own? Whatever, I hope that everything works out fine.

LK, how are you today? I hope James gave you a good night and that you've made some decisions about what to do about OH.

Kte, I keep meaning to ask, is that a special tummy time cushion that Chloe is lying on in your photo? It looks useful. Could you tell me what it is and where you got it? Monty really isn't keen on being on his front so anything to encourage him would be good. LOL, he isn't really keen on anything full stop at the moment! Sleep? Nah. Toys? Only for about one minute. Food? Only if he can fall asleep after five minutes. Nappy change? Only if you can do it in three minutes. Bath - ah, now that's one thing that he seems OK with, but I can't keep him in the bath 24 hours a day!
