Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

Hi everyone,

I'm having a 'domestic' day today and have somehow managed to get the washing done, ironing, cleaned the bathroom, put all the clothes away that have been loitering, emptied all the bins and vacuumed all over. Don't quite know how with Earl on my hip but I suppose I'm going to have to get used to it lol.

How are we all? Kte - Ilove your Shaun the Sheep! What is Timmy Time? Earl may have to be introduced to it by the sounds lol. :haha: I'm a huge Wallace and Gromit fan and I love Shaun the mostest!!

The gannet is definitely up to 7oz feeds as scarily he has drained both his feeds this afternoon (at 12noon and 2.30)

Tea tonight sausage casserole with root veg mash! Yummers! Hubby is home at about 7ish, Early tomorrow then he's off til Thursday afternoon. :happydance: I think Earl is looking forward to having his Daddy at home as he hasn't seen him since Yesterday morning, as he was asleep when hubby left this morning, was in bed last night when he got home and will be again tonight. I feel really sorry for hubby actually at the moment as his Dad is ignoring him. He has a habit of doing a disappearing act on regualr occasions and hubby will always try to call him, email him, write to him. Since Earl was born, he's been AWOL and still hasn't seen Earl. We've been sending regular emails etc but Hubby has had enough. It's his birthday at the end of Jan and if he hasn't heard from him by then then he's stopping the effort. We don't want Earl to get upset that his Pops does this. Shame really as he's a really nice guy.

Have a nice evening ladies :hugs:

My sis was down today with my BIL and nephews but poor Chloe was in a right grump, we took her for a walk in her pram and it helped calm her down. She went to bed last night around 10pm and didn't wake for a feed until 6am!!

I'm sooooooooo happy as we have a new washer! Well it's 2nd hand but new to me! It's fantastic, im such a saddo for being excited by it but it's my new best friend lol!

I'm a little anxcious tonight, I am off to work tomorrow  Chloe will spend the morning at the Childminders then in the aft at 3.10 we have her follow up appointment at the hospital for her tear. I was supposed to be at work all day but now I am in Mon morn & Tue aft so Chloe will be with OH tomorrow aft.

Aimee ~ I have put a link to the cbeebies site for Timmy Time (Timmy time) she also loves this and it is Shaun on CBBC Shaun the sheep :D She has just been glued to the website clips when I was finding it for you!

Lol, we had sausage casseroll today too, it's one of OH's specialities.

Colsy
~ sorry to hear you have had a bad few days but I'm glad you and Monty feel much better now :hugs:

Evening all, well i've been super tired today managed to nap this afternoon to catch up. Noah has been so so hungry the past few days had to top up a feed of formula today so i'm pumping extra inbetween feeds to try to up my miilk supply. Seems to of dropped off with being ill and the stress of moving. Also bit stressed re my girly sanctuary post :dohh:

OH as just gone to get pizza for dinner as im too knackered to cook and OH has been building wardrobes all afternoon and sorting out stuff and looking after Noah.

I need to find some decent cheap and quick recipes I can do.

Evening All!!!

Maffie ~ How you doing love? Not sure if it'll help but I've managed to cut my shopping bill down dramatically by planning our meals and doing some the meals similar to how my Nanna & Grandad did when we were kids... LOL Sunday roast, bubble and Squeak (Monday), left over Soup or meat & chips (Tuesday) etc... Doing a list for what we need food wise for the week and only buy what's on that list has done wonders for our shopping bill... Plus there are some great websites for some soup ideas etc...

How's everyone else? Timmy time is funny, Wallace and Gromit are fantastic... CC is just a tv addict...

OH starts work on Tuesday LOL Finally!?!?

We've nearly finished the nursery too! Considering we've been on a very tight budget this month; we've managed to get CC's room done... OK so most of it's been through ebay, and 2nd hand shops... I'm really looking forward to it being totally finished... I promise I'll show you all when it's done! (Just waiting for items from Hong Kong)

Anyway, take care all... Hope you're all well xxxx

Well that went as well as could be expected I suppose. Lots of tears on his side and lots of me getting very very cross. Not going to be able to sleep for hours cos I'm so wound up!

I'm just poking my head in. I'm so stressed that I can't even begin to reply to others tonight.

We found a stray dog in our neighbourhood, looked for over 2 hours for it owner. Animal control are closed today and tomorrow (public holiday) All the animal shelters and vets are closed. The police said "let him free" I live right by a busy main road!!! He's locked in our laundry room at the moment eating pork loin. I can't have him in the house cause of the cats and Autumn. I mean he's ever so friendly, but you just don't know how he'll react, if he's had vaccinations. We have rabies in this country!! I feel so stressed. So many people are dumping their dogs at the moment. I managed to get hold of a lady who is going to help is in the AM if we can keep him safe tonight. ARGH!!
This is him. How could anyone abandon him :( I don't get it!!
https://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i260/ChaoticOtter/Dog4.jpg

Anyways, I just wanted to give you a :hugs:LK. I'm sorry that fucknut has made you feel so stressed out :( Looks like you stood your ground with him tho, good for you!!!. Try and get a bit of rest lady, he aint worth you getting so wound up over. Let his misery affect him and not you.

Sounds stressful LK :hugs:

Chaos I dont blame you for being stressed, dont animal control have an out of hours number?

I'm getting there Emily boob is slightly less sore, i'[m on a budgeting spree as we are trying to organise my 3 months of no wage. This month is my last full wage then its 3 months smp then 3 months of nothing  We are then trying to see if I will need to work after that.
Must get some good recipes. I have a few nice ones but OH doesn't eat meat much so need to find some good veggie options too.

Kte I know how you feel about having a new washer, we just got a new washer and dryer (luckily OH's mum gave us most of the money) It's like they are heaven sent although the heater developed a fault in the dryer :dohh:  Enjoy the new machine

Aimee do you have a carrier for Earl? I bought a Moby wrap and have found I can do washing, washing up, tidying etc with him attached to me. He just nods off to sleep in it.

Maffie - Yep I have a carrier but he's so big and I'm so little that I either end up in agony with my hips or I get his legs trapped, covered in washing up water or whatever else I'm doing. I tend to have somewhere for him to sit/lie in every room so that he can see what I'm doing....but sometimes it's just not possible lol. He enjoys it I think and he keeps me company. Re: Budgeting - I too plan all our meals as you know. For more veggie options I tend to do things like Cheesy Bean Pie (shepherd's pie but beans instead), Omelettes, I also use a lot of Quorn instead of meat.

LK - I hope you got some rest. He's really not worth getting angry about hun...I hope that you and James are ok.

Earl did something really odd last night. He woke up wide awake at 11.30. He doesn't normally wake before 2, so I tried to just give him a dummy, Nope not having it. So I fed him. He took 6oz and passed out. He didn't even make a noise until 6.30, and woke up properly at 7  He has been known to sleep through 7-6ish but it's very rare so this was lovely. It's a shame that hubby's alarm woke me up at 5am :dohh: lol Maybe it's a sign that dreamfeeding may be the way to go lol. I wasn't going to do it as I wanted him to dictate his hunger but If he would sleep straigh til 7, then it may be worth doing

Right, best go see to the munchkin. Have a good day girls xx

Afternoon all!

Well I have survived my first morning back at work!! It was so strange to leave Chloe but the Childminder kept sending me messages to say she was happy and okay. OH has gone to collect her now though so it was only a short morning away for her, so long for me though!

She was sooo cute this morning. She is normally up for 6 but was snoozing away and I had to wake her up. She was having none of it, I carried her downstairs snuggled on my shoulder and even changing her on the mat she was still asleep, I took some pics as she was so cute! :cloud9:

Chaos: Good for you taking care of the dog but it's good you are being carefull for Autumn and your cats too. We dog sat for my sis once and Bandit saw the dog TJ and managed to freak and take a chunk out of OH. The other cats weren't bothered! I saw something on the news the other morning too about rescue homes over here being too full, even the tempory council kennels are overflowing. It's sadly that time of year where people chuck out their pets, they are blaming the recession too saying people can't affort their animals and also the weather as people haven't been able to get out and adopt as usual. Anyway, it sucks, especially since there is no back up support for you, I can't believe they said just let it go! Hope it all gets sorted soon!

Maffie: I am glad I am not the only one! We got it off some work friends of OH and can pay in intallments, a godsend other wise I would be handwashing by now! Good to hear your on the mend, it really sounds not very nice! :hugs:

LK:Mustn't have been easy for you. At least you knew what to expect from him so you could stand your ground. Hope you have calmed down a bit more :hugs:

Okay, must finish my cheese sarnie and crack on with some work, leaveing at 2.30 today and I then get to see my Chloekins :happydance:  :wohoo:

Kte- Amazon have got bedtime timmy soft toy reduced at the mo, I noticed it the other day while browsing:coffee:, glad your 1st morning back at work has gone ok.
Maffie- :hugs: for the sore boob, I sympathise xxx
Kitten- :hugs: for you too. I havent read back far enough yet to know exactly whats happened with your oh but you sound as if lots of :hugs: are needed.

Well...woke up with incredibly huge sore soggy boobs this morning..Ethan slept 8.30pm-6.30am didn't stir once!! :happydance: and ouchy at the same time!! Whats worse is my breast pump seems to have stopped working. BAD TIMING!!! :growlmad:

Edit..wanted to upload some pics but it only uploaded my avator pic for some reason?!

Just thought id let you all know my mum passed away peacefully at home on 30th jan 2009. x

sorry to hear about your mum Kim... Was it cancer? (hope you dont mind me asking?) hope you, adam, taylor & dexter are doing okay hun. :hugs:

Hey all;

I finally finished catching up on all the posts, but I just dont have the time to replay/respond to them all, so appologies for that. Needless to say I'm sorry to hear some of you are having tough times atm, as if having a new baby isnt hard enough, strife in other areas of your lives is the last thing you need. I hope things start getting easier & more settled for you all.
Also, the pics people have posted are completely adorable. I think us Bumpkins have the cutest babies ever, lol.

We're still ridiclously busy with the house, however the calvery has arrived in the form of my dad from Norfolk to come help paint, along with my sister, so we're taking it in shifts to looks after Harry & my nephew Caleb while Joshy is at school & literally trying to get as much done as possible. Luckily Harry has been an angel the last 2 days & his feeds have really begun to space out again, which leaves me more free time to get on top of the chores, decorating, cooking & all that jazz. I'm totally knckered though still, lol. :dohh:
Got a busy week this week, with everything going on, but also have to go to Enfield on thurs coz OH's only living grandparent (Harry's great grandad) passed away at the weekend & his funeral is thurs. I'm just glad we took Harry to see him in November & took 4 pics of them together so there is some kinda memory for him when he's older. I'm lucky coz I still have all my grandparents & step-grandparents, so I have family to spare, so-to-speak, so OH says he's adopting them now, lol.

Anyway, better get going coz I need to start the dinner & change Harrybo's stinky butt!!!

Oh, before I go, am I the only mean one who isnt letting their baby watch TV yet??? It's not that I dont want him watching it; I just cannot stand all the CBBC crap; it drives me nuts to the point where I want to trash the TV with my foot!!!! I think I might download some old stuff like Thundercats, Dangermouse, Count Duckula & stuff from when I was a kid- at least those dont make me feel like I'm tripping, hehe!

Fleur, Noah loves Timmy time but he's not watching it daily, if I put cartoons on he tends to be asleep within 5 minutes  he stays awake more when im watching my type of programmes :dohh:

Kim massive :hugs:

Chaos glad you found a home for the dog, spotted that on facebook

Im happy to report my boob pains almost gone, much less sore now, I think the extra expressing to empty boobs has helped. Hopefully my supply my increase soon too

Gosh noah is niggly again today, nothing seems to make him happy for long today, I think he's over tired.

Well fabulous news ladies....James is doing so much better on his Lactose Free milk...he has gained 1lb 3.5oz in 3 weeks! He now weighs 12lb 7.5oz :happydance: Over the moon. Had his 2nd lot of jabs today and is now sat in his vest while the calpol kicks in cos he now has a temp poor little thing. Had a good night with him last night though. He took a full 7oz bottle at 10.30pm and then slept til 7.45am and only then cos I woke him up to go to the housing people. Hope everyone has had a good day.

Taylorsmummy - So sorry to hear about your mum. :hugs: for you guys x

Oh, before I go, am I the only mean one who isnt letting their baby watch TV yet?

Nope, we don't have Monty watching the telly. In the first few weeks he used to sit on our laps in the lounge while we watched stuff as we ate our tea (too tired to have a proper dining-table meal), but even then we made sure he had his back to the telly. Now we try not to have the telly on when Monty is in the lounge. Not a big deal for us as we only really watch a few things and we just tape them (how old-fashioned am I?!!) if he is still up. Friends gave us their old Baby Einstein video, but to be honest I would rather take Monty into the great outdoors and show him trees and flowers and clouds and hills - the very same things that made us want to move here in the first place.

Having said all of that, I can sooo understand why people do let their kids watch telly. My screen saver came on earlier, and it's the real basic Windows one where coloured cubes roll across the screen. And blimey, was Monty fascinated by them, even from quite a distance away!

Evening all,

Just waiting for bottle water to cool down then I am off to bed! Chloe's hospital appointment went well. I asked why she got a tear since she hasn't been constipated and she just said some babies are sensitive like that. She got the all clear and I was told to use a bit of sudocrem to help prevent it for happening again.

She was very sleepy when I met her, even at the doctors appointment she was far too interested in what was going on to realise Mummy was back. At tea though I got the biggest smile, she was so happy, it felt really nice and I didn't feel like I was making it up as OH had her for a bit and everytime he moved she moved her head to make sure she could see me!

TaylorsMummy ~ Sorry to hear about your Mum, thinking about you and your family :flower:

Flora ~ Sorry to hear about your OH's grandparent too :flower: Its nice that you got the pictures so Harry can see he met him.

Re TV: I don't let her watch it all the time, I am quite anti TV, well a moderation thing anyway. OH is up for her having on in her bedroom when she is older but I keep saying no. I am the same, I can't watch too much Childrens TV without it driving me bonkers, even when I was little there was only so much Sat morning TV I could take! My nephews drive me mad, they watch stuff like Josh and Drake, icarly and stuff like that, ARGH!!!!! We usually watch the Shaun programe on catch up on demand, OH and I like it and that's how we noticed Chloe's facination and if Timmy is on she watches it too but I don't religioulsy set her in front of it. Black and white sheep, nice and easy on the baby eyes! There are two other programmes that I would watch but I used to watch them stuck at OH's Mum and Dad's before Chloe was born: Mr Maker (like art attack) and Ooglies (crazy objects and fruit doing daft things). For Chloe, my friend is giving her the Care Bear DVD's she has and I have so many Care Bear teddies and figures for her to play with . . . and if she fancies she can watch and play with Mummies old Thomas the Tank stuff too!!

20 mins and counting before bottles and bed!
