Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

Aww my poor boy

I've just managed to get him to sleep but all this afternoon he's been sweating buckets (despite calpol and in nothing but a vest!) and been crying when awake and asleep about 80% of the time. Poor little thing, I do feel bad for him. He's eating well though so I don't think it's anything more than the jabs. He's enjoyed a nice long bath and now he's settled himself off to sleep as normal....fingers crossed he will be ok in the morning.

Colsy - How is Monty?

I'm going to have a bit of a sit down before cracking on with the washing up and finishing off tea....stew and dumplings. :happydance:

Awww hope Earl feels better after a good nights sleep.

Chloe has jabs no.2 on Tuesday, 9.20 so the rest of the day it's home and cuddles!

I have bonjela and the tommee tippee teethers things too, was just wondering if you were doing anything different, teething seems a mindfield to me! She hates the bonjela until her mouth goes numb! She chews on the teethers for a few mins if I hold it there but then just tried to spit them out. I think they will come in when she is a little older.

Right, little miss is asleep on the couch so I am gong to attempt to go to bed, started that adventure last night at 9 and ended up still trying at 11. Think its safe now though!

Speak to you all tomorrow x

Morning All...

Aimee-Lou ~ Hope Earl had a good nights sleep last night... Sorry to hear he didn't settle so well.

CC is having a few more disturbed nights, 3 times she woke last night; I feel shattered today... Gonna take DS to school, carry on to tesco's to do the weekly shop. Means we don't have to do it over the weekend...

Right best finish my breakie... and have coffee number 2... otherwise I'm like the walking dead... LOL Catch you all later xxxx

Morning all :hugs:

Hope the coffee helps Eswift! I'm on tea at this very mo but think coffee may be next!

I can't believe it, Chloe slept for 8 hrs last night, woke up at half 6, ate, serious nappy change after exploding after her bottle(!) and then she has gone back to sleep. In fact thinking about it, she nearly didn't wake up as I was dream feeding her and OH called my mobile and it woke her. I had a moan at him! I was in two minds wether to go back to sleep too but I know I will just feel crappy if I do. I didn't get as good a nights sleep typically, my fissure decided to play up last night so I woke up at 1 with it. Took some painkillers, crawled into bed then OH's alarm went off.

Morning ladies. Aimee hope Earl is feeling better today. I am feeling refreshed this morning. James didn't wake til 9.10am! Hes turning into a lazy boy like his daddy lol. And he is having a nap again now lol. Dont think hes going to give up his 11am nap for a while hehe. I'm gonna go have some breakfast now that little man is napping. Chat to you laters x

LOL Kte! Chloe sounds very much like CC... Lovely nappies... Glad OH isn't afraid to do his share... (well, when he's home anyway..)

Shopping done, talk about laugh... 2 large heavy bags; but nowhere to put them on the pram... hmmm... ended up with the eggs and crisps under the pram, one of the heavy bags on top of the pram and the other on my shoulder... Otherwise it'd have been a taxi... (Not really got the money to waste, when I can walk...) Managed to get back home for 10am and CC slept all the time... Didn't wake until I'd put it all away...

How good was she?? Woke, played whilst I did some ironing... Managed half of it... She's just had a feed and is now fighting sleep... Can't sleep all day and all night...
Can you believe tomorrow's saturday, and another week has gone...

Good afternoon everyone -

Thanks for all the messages - after a nightmare of a day yesterday, Earl slept fine and didn't need any calpol overnight, then woke up for the day at 7 as normal. He's his usual self today.

I will be so glad when he can entertain himself a little more though. He's taken a dislike to his bouncy chair and squeals when you put him into it....he's fine once in though which is good lol. I keep trying to encourage him to play with toys etc but at the moment I'm the most entertaining thing in the box so I guess I should be flattered lol. If I leave him to have a kickabout I have to shut the dog out or close the door which I'm not comfortable with doing so I have to watch him and he has taken to just kicking like crazy, wearing himself out, then getting cranky lol.

Best try and get some stuff done really Earl is just drifting off so time for me to get on. :hugs: everyone x

Well so far today I am waaaay behind. Fed James at 9.30am and then played with him for a bit. Had breakfast at like 11.25am and then washed up, dusted and hoovered the lounge. James woke from his nap and 12 and wanted feeding and then after he finished his bottle he filled his nappy so he went through 2 nappies in about 20 mins lol. Then he had 5 minutes in his Bumbo before getting all grumpy so I cuddled him in and got him to sleep. Grabbed a shower and here we are. I am supposed to be delivering Avon books today but havn't managed to get out yet and its pouring out. Going to give it til 3.30pm and then will just have to go out regardless. This is the first lot of Avon I have done and I'm not going to carry on for long lol. Its such a lot of work and so hard to do when bubs is this young! I can't really just stick him in front of the tv or with some toys for hours while I sort it all out. Think I will just do this one and give up lol. I am terrible! Its so not worth it for the few quid extra a month.

LK ~ I did Avon years and years ago. When DS was tiny too.. Hmm I found that it wasn't for me either. Found that I was better off doing a Friday night behind the bar in the local pub, paying a baby sitter than what I was doing Avon... Hope things sort themselves out soon...

CC is chatting away to JK... Laughing and smiling when he get cross... Guess I watch him too religiously when she was incubating... LOL...

Took the dog out this afternoon, came back with a kids slide and table and bench set. A little old man at the end of the street gave them to me for CC... LOL Gonna be a while before she's big enough to use them... Couldn't say no though... Rather sweet of him... Wonder what OH will say...

Right Have a lovely weekend all...

Hi all, hope were all well, we have been Aqua swimming today,George loves it, and also the last 2 nights he has slept longer!! normally 10.30 till 6ish and the last 2 days has been 8am!!!! Well i hope were all well, and have a great weekend

Colsy - How is Monty?

Best not to ask, TBH. (But thanks all the same for asking.) No apparent probs with the jabs, but he hasn't stopped grizzling/crying since Weds afternoon, so it's hard to know now what's jabs-related and what's just a continuation of his crying. I'm going to put a post about this in Baby Club so won't put any more here.

Right, little miss is asleep on the couch so I am gong to attempt to go to bed, started that adventure last night at 9 and ended up still trying at 11. Think its safe now though!

And woke me up twice in the process!!!! No wonder I am so tired! It is at times like these I hate 2am starts :) And I know it isnt your fault hun x

Morning all, just a quickie as still no internet on here, gosh this place is hilly. I think i'll get fit fast.

Went to the city yesterday and was so upset. I went into the disabled toilet in the train station as the pram doesnt fit in the normal ones and im not leaving Noah outside on his own and the baby change has no toilet, so quickly changed Noah and had a wee myself and a lade started swearing at me and shouting, she tried to push the pram over and accused me of stealing the radar key for the toilet.

Sorry to be thick but what is a 'radar key'.

I hope you told her to STFU! Some arrogant old git out there now!

radar keys are to unlock disabled toilets, this lady didnt have one so she accused me of stealing the stations one

lol they make me laugh.
I hope you handed it back to reception or where ever you got it from.

Oh Maffie what a cow! I'd have told her where to go! Some people just really don't have a clue. I had to use the disabled loo at bowling cos thats where the baby change unit is and some woman gave me a filthy look when she saw me coming out! Just gave her a dirty look back lol. Can't believe she tried to push the pram over! :grr:

James had another good night :happydance: Slept from 8.30pm to 8.10am. I'm so glad he is feeling better. Think I'm going to have to start weaning him soon though cos he will demolish 6oz of milk, can't fit any more in, yet still be looking for food and be trying to shove both hands in his mouth at once and eating his muslin! And we are cutting our first tooth! Felt his gums yesterday cos hes had a lump on either side for weeks and there is a little sharp bit on the left side.

Had a fun evening with my family. We watched Fat Families and then all got on the Wii Fit to see how much we weigh lol. They were all sat there eating crisps and chocolate and I sat eating carrot sticks, cucumber sticks and apple pieces lol. Hate my wobbly belly and I'm determined to get rid of it.

Afternoon all,

Maffie ~ :trouble: I hate it when random strangers think they have the right to have a go! You needed to go in there to sort out Noah so she had no reason to have a go, they gave you the key to get in there so they obviously didn't see it as a problem! (Not exactly easy to steal one of those things either! :hugs:

LK ~ I'm with you on getting rid of the jelly 'Mummy tummy'! I weighed myself the other day and got quite a shock, I'm not normally fussed about my weight but I need to do something about it as it is getting slightly out of control, just need to curb it back a bit! Good job I couldn't binge at Christmas after all! Glad James is much happier too.

Chloe was good last night, well she didn't get to sleep until 11 but she slept through until 4am, had about 90ml and went back to sleep. We woke her up at 8.30. She has taken to her dummy a lot more these last few days, we have been giving it to her to help the teething but sometimes she likes it to sooth herself to sleep. It soon pops out when she has dozed off usually but I have noticed she wants it a lot more in the day, before it was a little bit at night.

In the middle of making dinner, oatcakes with sausages and egg. Yummy!

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend :flower:

Quiet in here this weekend. How come whenever I seem to get a minute to come online everyone else is quiet, and yet when I can't make it online for a few days there's a glut of messages to read? Sod's law I guess LOL!

We had a really happy day yesterday, which made me happy, which made Monty happier, and so on. Last night was weird though. As some of you know, Monty has taken to sleeping through most nights for almost 12 hours. Last night however he woke at 10.30pm for a feed just as we were going to bed. Then he woke again at 3.30am for another feed. And then when he woke up in the morning at about 7.30am, he was starving hungry and absolutely refused to just have a cuddle first - no way, he wanted food right now thank you very much. I dearly hope this isn't the start of another growth spurt. I am a bit fed up of everyone I talk to saying every few days "Oh it's a growth spurt", but I wonder whether they are right? But surely babies don't have a growth spurt every week? He does seem quite big for his age (don't know weight as he hasn't been weighed since the start of December, due to the snow and Christmas and then more snow) and I am a bit concerned that he is *too* big because of all the eating. But then everybody also helpfully tells me that there's no such thing as an overweight breastfed baby - how can this be entirely true I wonder?

Well Monty is napping now after I spent 20 minutes trying to get him to sleep. In the end I took him out of the hammock and he demanded more food (just over two hours after his breakfast - you see, more food again!) and then he fell asleep, and I managed to pop him in his hammock. He's had half an hour now, which means we're coming up to waking up time.

Talking of sleep, out of interest, how many hours a day do your babies sleep in total? I am beginning to think Monty doesn't get enough sleep in total, which is causing some of our grouchiness problems. But we are so lucky that usually he sleeps 12 hours at night that I guess I haven't really considered daytime sleeping that much ... but maybe I should be dealing with the daytime sleep now that we have the nighttime sleep cracked ... what do you think? My problem with daytime sleep is knowing when to try putting him down for a nap - he generally sleeps fine if he's in the sling or carseat or pram, but if I do the "ah, I think you're tired" thing and pop him in his hammock, he usually screams the house down and I end up giving in (as per this morning). So how do other people deal with this? Babies, eh?!

Colsy - James is going through a growth spurt right now. He is taking 6-7oz every 2.5 hours during the day. He then sleeps 8.30pm to 8.30am. I think once they start sleeping through they will take their daily quota of milk in the 12 hours they are awake during the day. Since James has started sleeping alot less during the day since sleeping through the night. He used to nap 11am-1pm and then 3.30pm to 5pm roughly. Now I am lucky to get him to sleep 30 mins in the morning and 30 mins in the afternoon. The only time he sleeps longer is if we are out with the pram or in the car. And as soon as we stop he pings awake lol.

Is anyone thinking about weaning soon? Poor little man is so full of milk he sloshes when you pick him up yet he is still looking for more!
