Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

eswift - I wear lenses and I've always just used the cleaning fluid in my eyes. If the lenses get dry I take them out, re-wet them, quick swill in the eyes then back in. this only works if you're using 1 stage cleaners. Can really help if you get a scratch too

Morning all,

Think it may be student union coffee time

Aimee: Chloe doen't really have a set bed time, I think i will get her into a routine more when she moved into her own room. At the moment since Nij is in bed early I need to be in there too incase she wakes and cries. To be honest, she doesn't wake up once she has properly fallen asleep but I can't do the whole leave her to settle as then she will. For the last few nights it has been about 10-11pm which has been killing me as then she is wide eyed chirpy smiles at about 6.30-7.00. Not too bad really but she wakes for a feed at about 4/5-ish and I wake when Nij goes to work at 1 (him moving about just wakes me up, thankfully Chloe is zonked at that time) so for me I feel like a wreck even though I shouldn't!!

Last night though she was asleep for 7.30, so much so that I decided she could go to bed fully dressed in her dress and booties! I changed her nappy whilst she snoozed away but there was no way I was disturbing her any more than that! I wanted an early night! Typical really as I had to get up at 5.30 so I could wash my hair, get me ready then have a good hour with Chloe and get her sorted so she would be hugry and fed before we got out the door!

Hope Earls new tooth isn't causing him too much aggrivation today :flower:

Kaites Yep, even Daddy doesn't cut it at the moment either! I know it's just a phase she is going through and she will be fine but I'm still a little stressed as she really does get wound up, at least I am not around to see it in a way . . . she needs to learn I guess . . . trying to convince myself here!

I can't wait to get home and have lots and lots of cuddles!

Eswift ~ I do that with Chloe, have her on my knee when I am eating. Think we need to invest in a high chair too, luckily I have some Mohtercare vouchers left over and saw one within budget so it's just a case of getting it then dragging it to the car!

I have lenses too but I only suffer with dry eyes if I have naughtily kept them in too long during the day. I have seen an advert for some eye drops that refresh eyes that are okay to put in with contacts. Or maybe ask again at the Opticians when you go for your glasses to see if there is anything you can do or get for them. It might be your eyes adjusting? Like Aimee says, a good swill in the saluine solution sometimes help :flower:

LK ~ How is hungry James doing today?

The childminder told me last week that she couldn't believe how little Chloe ate. She thought she was still hungry after a feed as Chloe guzzled it down, the max she has is 180ml but she doesn't always fully drain a bottle. So she tried to giver her some more feed and Chloe refused! Saying that I guess its about now she will be hitting the 3/4 month growth spurt so must keep an eye on her levels.

Anyways, eek, best get on with some work . . . after the coffee!

James goes to bed at 8.30pm. He has a good 10 minutes in the bath chilling at 7.30pm and then he gets dressed in his vest and babygro. Has his bottle (has it warmer than the rest of the day) and then quick cuddle and down to bed awake by 8.30pm. Then he sleeps through til 6am, quick dive out of bed to stick his dummy back in and then straight back to sleep til 8.30am or like this morning 9am.

Kte - James is being a little piggy again today. Demolished 6oz at 9am. Due his next feed in 5 minutes and he is currently yelling at the tv so think I better go warm it up lol.

Well the bedtime plan has worked so far  - We had tea at 6, up to bed at 6.30, bottle at 7, asleep by 7.30 :thumbup:We have to wait and see if it works lol.

It's hubby's birthday tomorrow, which means that Earl has been on the planet for a whole year lol :baby:

Can't stop on long.....I've got to go and find something to eat as despite having had a big tea, I'm still hungry (goddam hormones). At least this period is a lot better than the last one. More or less back to normal. :happydance:

Have a nice evening ladies :flower:

Yikes that was not good. James took 6oz at 9am, 7oz at midday, 7oz at 3pm. Then I bathed him and gave him a bottle at 7pm....he took 3oz and then did an almighty heave and puked the whole thing back up pretty much! I was covered and so was he. So back in the bath he went and I had to completely strip off. He has just had another 2oz of milk and is now sound asleep. Its obviously taken it out of him. So we will see if he wakes up at midnight like the night before last when nanny fed him and he only took 3oz before bed.

I am off for a shower as soon as my brother is out of it lol. Desperate to have a shower now.

Hi all, hope were all doing well, seems like where all getting on well, has anyone noticed theres a Bumpkins October 10 already!!! wow, where does the time go, has anyone heard from Babylove, not seen her on her for a while now, seems like theres just a handful of us who keep coming back here xxxxxx Enjoy ur day ladies xxxxx

GRUMPY BABY ALERT!

Seriously - whingey isn't the word. It's his teeth....again! Thankfully, hubby is at work at the moment so I have time to get him doesd up and napped well in time for his birthday celebrations.

Did anyone else wake up to snow again? It's really wearing thin now....I was looking forward to going for our walk this afternoon but it's far too cold with the snow now. On the plus side, I may be able to get this sodding housework that's been on my to-do list for the past week lol. Hubby is on a working Sunday tomorrow so that gives me a full 12 hours alone to get it done.....that's if Earl lets me :dohh: I can't get on my sewing machine until it's all done lol.

Still...I'm going to make a cake in a few minutes hopefully Earl will have a good nap and wake up in a reasonable frame of mind so I can.

Happy Birthday to my wonderful hubby. He's been spoiled completely lol. We went and bought him some proper running shoes, and he's got 'Life in Cold Blood' on Dvd, as well as a curry tonight for tea. Finally he's the same age as me again....the months between Sept and Jan are a nightmare lol :haha:

Have a lovely day girls.....best be off :hugs:

Afternoon all,

Aimee ~ Hope your OH has a good birthday and he likes your :cake: Plus hope Earl feels better too :flower: Sounds like a good day planned, lucky man! :D

No snow here, backwards land has returned to normal! My Sis has some tho.

Sam ~ Awh that makes me feel so nostalgic with the new Bumpkins, even though I didn't find out I was expecting until March! It still amazes me to think what was happening around this time last year! I saw that Baby.love had posted a not so long ago but it was about her iphone, not sure if she still keeps an eye on this thread though. I'm still glad some of us still come and keep in touch :hugs:

Well I just got to vac up and then I can chill, Chloe is snoozing on her swing chair. Getting the house ready for family and friends who are over this weekend for Chloe's christening tomorrow.

Best go, cheeky has woken up :dohh: . . . xx

Afternoon everyone.

Well after Earl being particularly horrid this morning, I figured out that it was his posh clothes that was annoying him, so back into pyjama's and we're fine lol.

He's actually had a really cute afternoon and I've had the camera out loads as a result lol.

Here's a few. Tummy time with monkey (note the drool! lol), Playing with his favourite cube, and in the kitchen. We got a freebie pack from Hipp (I'm sure I'm not the only one who's got it) which had this free spoon in it. I gave it to Earl and he was sat playing with it for about 20 minutes. I took loads of pictures but I think this one is ace! It looks like he's saying...'But hold on a minute.....where's the food LUV!' lol :haha:

lol Aimee we got the free spoon too! Super cute pictures of Earl, glad he much happier!

That's an awesome pic of Earl in the Bumbo! He's so cute Aimee :) Hope you have fun celebrating your hubby's birthday!

kte- hope the christening goes well tomorrow!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend! It's bloody cold outside (about -20 degrees!!) so I'm hibernating- or at least trying to :) Emma is a little clingy today (all smiles until I put her down for even a minute). I think I'll have to bundle up and brave the cold to do some grocery shopping soon- I hate going to the grocery store on the weekend since it's so crowded but I'm hoping the trip out of the house will get Emma out of her funk. She is definitely one of those kids who needs a daily change of scenery.

Thanks kte and kaites - he is a bit gorgeous isn't he! lol. Everyone says he's a 'nice looking' child, which I know we think he's gorgeous obviously, but we get so many comments, it can't just be us lol. Everyone also comments on how much he looks like hubby. He's the spitting image of him, chubby cheeks and all! :haha:

Hubby is just out getting our curry for tea. He's at work again tomorrow - booooooooooo! Hiissssssssssss! - so he's making the most of tonight and we're celebrating properly next weekend when he has a full 4 days off!

Kte - Yes, good luck with the Christening  Enjoy your day! :hugs:

Kaites - It's cold here too but not that cold lol. We had snow....again.....last night but it's now above freezing again - just! :dohh:

We are having a rubbish day today. Had to go back to Aylesbury to pick up my car and some other bits. It has really upset James and he has been superbly unsettled all day. Is led in his moses basket screaming right now cos nothing is working to calm him down :(

Awh LK hope James cheers up soon, maybe he was sensing your stress? :hugs:

Well Im just going to pop down Chloe down for a nap and go get ready but I have to share my news . . . Chloe's first tooth is coming through :happydance:

I had suspected she had been teething for a while and though I could feel a nubby bit on her top right gum, its one of her canine teeth. She has a rosy cheek on one side, I was talking about it and Nij said to me this morning that he had asked the Childminder if she though she was teething and she said no! :growlmad: (Picture steam coming out my ears!) I had told her she was, I know I'm a new mum, a first time mum but I'm not daft, I know I don't know everything but I had gathered my facts first! Anyway, I decided to check on the nubby bit and there it is, confirming I'm not a mad mummy, well I am a mad mummy but not as mad OTT iykwim lol. Im so giddy I cant stop typing! So I showed Nij, I said look at this what do you think? "Its a tooth" he said . . . and thats when it hit me, her 1st tooth!

Now I have figure out dental care!! :dohh:

Oh and she is 3 months old today too, what a day!! :cloud9:

:hugs: all. Have a good day and I will catch you all later, thanks for your well wishes for today too xx :flower:

Yay Chloe!! Big day for such a little girl :flower: Earl's canines are really prominent (gets that from me - sorry bubs) but not cutting yet. Hope the christening goes well - looks like a lovely day for it :flower:

LK - I hope James settled down last night.

Earl has today discovered he has feet - funniest thing to see him chase his feet around. He'll lunge forward, stick out a hand, get excited, kick his leg out, miss and faceplant my chest lol. :dohh:

best be off - Earl needs a nap then I'm going to crack on. Determind to get on my sewing machine today lol.

Urgh what an awful awful day. James is not well. He was a bit snuffly last night but seemed ok when I got him up. Had his 9am bottle and then it went downhill from there. He has been really fractious today. Screaming, not drinking much. Sleeping alot. I gave him some calpol and he went back to sleep for a bit and then finally drank some milk at almost 2pm. Then gave him some more calpol at 5.30pm. Went out for my planned cinema trip cos he seemed much better. Well I got home at 11pm and now feel horrifically guilty for even thinking about going out. He was fine til after his bath and then when he was put to bed he screamed and screamed. And then was very sick, and it was all mucousy. So he had to be washed and changed and finally after half an hour of cuddling he went to sleep. He is settled now and sleeping in his basket but I feel awful for leaving him! Going to take him to the drs tomorrow. He has only had about 20oz all day and he vomited a fair bit of his last bottle up so in effect has probably only had about 16oz all day. He normally takes about 26oz! Poor little boy.

Kte and Nij -Congrats on Chloe's first tooth hehe. And hope the christening went well.

Anyway I am off to bed now. Got a bit of a sore throat so want to sleep before the screaming and non-eating starts again :(

Kte and Nij hope the Christening went well.

LK :hugs: for you and James. Is he getting a cold? I know babes sometimes get mucosy stuff when they are spoiling for a chesty cough/cold.

Aimee hows the new sewing machine faring up? I really should start using mine. I'd love to try making a mei tai (sp)

Kaites I just love your avatar picture Emma just looks too cute. (maybe Noah needs a slightly older Candian lady )

Noah had a good night, looks like his tummy ache was what i've been eating. My diet is going to feel devoid at this rate as onions, leeks, broccoli, cabbage and sprouts all give him tummy ache and he runs to the toilet ALOT (he went up from 1 poo per day to 7-8 per day. He also upped his feeds so im guessing all the poo was causing him to be thirsty. He normally when I express as 5oz bottles but he gobbled up 7 oz last night and then slept for 6 hours :happydance:

Maffie - I think he does have a cold cos he is a bit snuffly. I woke up at 5am with a horrid sore throat so I think that wasn't helping him either. Have a drs appointment this afternoon so we will see. But he has eaten 6 3/4 oz this morning so much better than what he had yesterday. His nappy wasn't that wet this morning though so I'm hoping he drinks better today before he gets dehydrated.

Morning All

What a weekend! Talk about cold... Brrr....

Hope you all had a nice weekend. OH ended up working yesterday, felt rather lonely and isolated... Guess, I'm gonna have to get use too being on my own again...

CC is teething too... I've been a little naughty too, I gave her a rusk to chew on; bless her little legs went face lit up... LOL had to mix it with boiled water, she finished the lot... Believe it or not she's not been as whingy, crying or demanding... Started to sleep through on a night too... DS started weaning at the same age too, still bfing too, but I'm quite happy otherwise... I was so buggered last week (only 3 nights of full sleep since she was born), I'm slowly starting to feel a little better... (only had baby porridge, baby rice, rusk and youghurt...) Guess it's a case of playing things by ear...

Hi girls,
I haven't been on here for a while since having daughter number 2 (Isla).

She was born on the 29th October a day early weighing 8Ib 9oz. It's great to here about your LO's!

She's been a bit poorly the last couple of days with a sickness and diahorrea bug, but thankfully is better now. Having an older sister she catches everything!

Isla's recently discovered her hands and loves to play with them, her firsts are always in her mouth too. She trying to roll from back to front and manages to nearly get onto her side. She loves her mobile (Tiny love one) and play mat but will not go in her bouncy chair! She's quite a colicy baby but this has got better. She usually wakes once or twice in the night and goes to bed by 7pm and wakes around 7am, we don't dreamfeed. I breast feed and she usually has 1 bottle of formula in the day.

Will probably start weaning on babyrice around 17 weeks as we did with her sister.

Anyway that's a bit about Isla, look forward to reading your posts as our LO's get bigger ;-))

xx
