Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

Hi panda - sounds like Isla is doing really well

Maffie - I'm totally in love with my sewing machine!! I've been looking at patterns all morning lol. I'm a total novice but hubby has used one and was quite impressed at my testers - straight lines and everything! I have found a pattern for a mai-tei and I think it may have to be made - https://www.sleepingbaby.net/jan/Baby/asian.html

Best be off - time for someone's lunch. Earl is now eating every 3 hours :happydance: which is just brill and a lot less like a marathon.......will probably only last a few days but i'm loving it!!

Have a great day ladies xx

Mornin' Girls!

Well what a crazy last few days. We've been snowed in! It just started snowing on Friday. I had to go feed some dogs I've been pet sitting for the week at like 730pm on Friday, the place is about 10 miles away, well when I left it was just starting to snow .. I was there an hour. I came home and the moterway was just white and ice. I was going 30mph and sliding and skidding all over the shop!! Then I got stuck at the bottom of my driveway lol.

Of course now there's black ice everywhere and all you hear about is accidents. A frigging artic went in to the local lake head first on Saturday!

It gave me a chance to be creative this weekend tho, I did my first project on my sewing machine and made a rabbit! I've got to stitch his eyes on but shall show you when I'm done. I'm really proud of him haha.

Autumn has her 4 month jabs today. (she's 18 weeks on Wendesday .. can you even believe that?!) Because we're doing the delayed version, she gets her Dtap and rotovirus again. One is oral, one is a jab. The last time she had these specific 2, she slept for 12 hours after it!

Aimee ~ Loving the pictures of Earl. That spoon one is adorable!!
Oh oh oh!! You got a sewing machine too!! How exciting, we can be novices together haha. Now I've played with mine a bit and got used to how it stiches, My next project is a car organizer. My aim of this, is so I don't have to keep carrying someones napppy bag with me all the time. I can leave nappys, wipes, change of clothes etc in the car ready to go!

Kaites ~ -20!?!?!? Holy shit!!

LK ~ Sorry you had a rough day on Saturday :( :hugs: Poor little James .. sounds like he's got a cold or something? I hope he gets to feeling better soon ...

Kte ~ Congrats on Chloes 1st tooth. Wow, can you even believe this time last year we were all at the very start of our pregnancies?!

Maffie ~ Well as long as chocolate don't give him tummy ache, you're set!!! ;)

Eswift .. aww rusks! I wish they sold them over here.

Panda97 ~ Welcome back!! Glad to hear Laura is doing so well :)

Ohhhhhhhhh While I've been typing this I got an email containing a link to a proofing gallery for Autumns 3 month pictures!! I'm going to get her to send them on a CD to me, but in the mean time here are a couple! (I had to print screen and crop to get these few haha)

This is my FAV!! haha. This sums up her entire mood whilst this was going on. She was all stuffed up in her butt and not a happy baby this day.

Aww Chaos- those pics are just pure adorable! Will have to share some of James's pics once I can get them onto the computer. Can't believe how quickly they are all growing. James is 16 weeks tomorrow!

Hi ladies

awww Chaos, Autumn is gorgeous, love the name and the photos. She's got beautiful eyes!!

Yes it' wierd to think last year we were at the start of our pregnancies!

xx

Cheers guys, christening went well......I hijacked Kte's thread and put my version of events on there. Please excuse grammer and spelling and most importantly, the way it is written......I dont know how you guys can do this with a baby on your lap/feeding/sleeping/crying etc......
clicky for christening story day

Thanks for the link Nij - - and typing one-handed is a skill you perfect early on  SPG may not be great but you get the jist lol

I hope you all enjoyed your day :hugs:

Well James and me both have a viral throat infection. Just got to give him calpol if his temp is up and try to get fluids into him as much as possible. On the upside he now weighs.....13lbs 0.5oz!! Yay! Takes him to almost the 25th centile hehe.

Cause we're Mums and that's our job! We're secret superheros :)

LK ~ Aww, I hope you and James feel better soon :hugs:

Well we just got back from the Dr. She had the jab, when the nurse stuck it in she got a "WTF WAS THAT?!" look on her face, and then she was fine. Didn't even grizzle lol

Since 30th November she's gone from:

11lb 10oz to 14lb 11oz (gained 3lbs .. 90th %ile )

22.1/4 inches to 25 1/4 inches .. so gained 3 inches (75-90 %ile)

Head from 15 to 16 inches (50th %ile)

Mah lil budda belly daughter

Paediatrician said rather than add the rice to the milk, just to feed her some twice a day .. I can try oatmeal too and any of the "1st baby foods" ... so carrots, pears, apple sauce, peas, green beans, sweet spuds.

Oh I can foresee such a mess haha.

Well she's passed out now, slept thru her 11am feed. She did this after her last jabs and woke up with a massive appetite!

Chaos - Yep I'm a complete novice. I've been toying about with bags and cushion covers without much aesthetic success lol....but I'm starting to look for decent stuff and patterned fabrics to make a start but I'm so lacking in confidence. I've just ordered a pattern for some boys dungarees with a pattern that will do up to age 2....so should be able to get some use out of that. I've also been trawling for anything vaguely useful and found a good few nice looking free patterns that will be useful I'm sure. The car tidy sounds like a brill idea  I'll be posting when I actually make anything worth looking at

And Autumn is just gorgeous!! You're going to have fun with weaning....I can tell lol. I had to give Earl some calpol today and I thought I'd try him with it off the spoon rather than with the syringe.....that was messy enough but he looked really impressed.

LK- I hope both you and James are ok. :hugs:

I'm being really lazy just now - I really should be off pottering, washing up, hanging out washing etc etc but if I'm honest, I'm in a bit of a mood  I'm having a few hormonal 'issues' thanks to good ol' AF and it's doing my tree in! lol Hubby is doing my head in because he's tetchy too as he's given up smoking and I'm constantly having to apologise to him for saying things 'th wrong way' or looking at him 'like he's a stupid child'. Grrrrrrrrrrrr - not a good vibe lol. It'll pass though...always does. He's at work at the moment, due back at 9, so i'll cook us a tea and we'll have a natter lol.

Anyway....Eastenders! :happydance:

Happy evening campers

Good Morning All...

Golly, I'm really not sure what's up with me at the moment... I can't make out if it's because I'm so tired, lonely, or the new pill... I feel so isolated, weepy and just generally fed up; by the time OH gets in from work I'm shattered and would quite happily go to bed.... I have really started to seriously start putting CC on to formula milk, I'm just wish I knew if it would suddenly make me feel as if I have some energy...

The weaning is going very well, she's even starting to moan at breakie time, and tea time... We tried banana yesterday, she pulled such a face and then spat it out, put another spoonful in and she gobbled it up; LOL then there was an empty bowl... (think we may try stewed pear today!)

She's making some lovely cooing noises now and is very attentive; love having a bath, and very smilie... (wish I knew what she was trying to say?)

Morning gals, just popping in to say a very quick hi and to tell you Monty slept from 8pm until 8am :happydance: I won't get too excited as we've been here before, so it was prob just a random event, but it was rather nice to not be feeding and eating a cereal bar at 4am! I'm even getting the hang of daytime naps (for Monty, not me), and I feel we've turned some serious corners. Granted, I was still one and a half hours late meeting my friend yesterday, but at least we made it in the end - and she didn't mind anyway, as it meant she got to eat two cakes rather than just one whilst waiting for us at the cafe. xx

:hugs: are you anaemic? maybe pop to the dr if you can and mention how your feeling.

we started weaning sam when he was coming up 15 weeks and he loves food, i have been making my own (except breakfast) so that i know 100% exactly what he is having. He has a bowl of Cow & Gate porridge for breakfast and 8oz milk and has had butternut squash, sweet potato, cauliflower, broccoli, stewed pear & apple, carrot, parsnip, mashed banana and he's loved everything so far, few funny faces at first. I did give him a rusk but it didnt seem to agree with him so im holding off them for another few weeks.

Sam sleeps somewhere between 10-12 hours a night :)

I have made the decision to pull my DD out of her current school and move her, she's being picked on (by a nasty spiteful little b**ch) and i really cant see it being sorted out. Thats not the only reason to move her. Have put a post in kids & teenagers if anyones interested in reading it. https://www.babyandbump.com/kids-teenagers/267456-help-bullying-moving-schools.html

Me again, as Monty is STILL asleep. This is meant to be his quick catnap that he has most mornings now, but he has now been napping for two hours! That's after his marathon 12 hours last night. Does this mean we've finally cracked sleep? Or is it just a one-off, never to be repeated again? What does it mean, girls, when baby sleeps loads more than usual? Any ideas? xx

Colsy - 2 words for you....Growth....spurt....lol. Earl will sleep for England when he's growing or learning something new. Congrats on the 12 hours sleep. Earl slept in til 7 this morning which is back to normal time and a fully functioning mummy! Had to give him 8oz at bedtime and he drained it  My bottles don't hold any more so I'm not sure what to do  I have a feeling hell be on 6x8oz bottles before he's 4 months

eswift - I hope you feel better soon :hugs: Get to the dr's and see what they can do. :hugs:

Can I ask - There seems to be a lot of us who have weaned early. I really really had hoped to wait til Earl was ready to BLW - from about 24 weeks - but judging by his appetite, I have a feeling that we may not be able to, especially as he can't have HB milk. Did you all get the HV involved or just work on instinct? We've not seen a HV to speak to since Earl was 2 weeks!! Call me callous but I'm really not that bothered about them lol.

Has anyone else's LO discovered their voice? Earl has learnt to shriek like a banshee.....blimey it's ear piercing! :dohh:

Hi Ladies hope were all well, well i took George the Doctors this Morning for his needles, this was his 2nd lot, should of had them in Jan, but cancelled due to the snow, we were left waiting for nearly a hour, due to the back log of needles, and the H/Vistor, wouldnt even weigh George, because there were that many babies, thats there fault not ours, so now i have to take him back out this afternoon, if i want him Weighing, he seems abit Grumpy at the min, so i dont think i will, anyway i hope were all well , have a nice afternoon

Afternoon all,

Aimee ~ I'm not weaning Chloe yet, Im going by instinct more than anything, I have with other things and to me its just not the right time for her but who knows, every day is different lol.

Eswift ~ hope you feel better soon :hugs:

Jo ~ sorry to hear Chloe is having a tough time :hugs:

This tooth is giving her some grief but she still not learnt to grab objects, she grabs her hands, bibs, dresses and they end up in her mouth but all the teethers we have are no good at the mo bless her. Im on calpol & bonjela alert! It makes it hard for her to sleep or play as she just sits / lies there fussing with her mouth, she bends over double to cram her hands in! Oh and the suction on her dummies is crazy!

She has started waking at 2am then 5am now, still only taking 90ml feeds but I had it down to 1 feed. Ah well!

Its a bit grim today, was going to take Chloe to baby clinic but remembered HV is coming Thursday. Aimee, I know what you mean, I think they are useful for the first few weeks and im kind of glad I know she is there if I need her but apart from getting Chloe weighed and measured I haven't used her for a while.

Weaning

We're planning at the moment to do a mix of BLW and purees - just whatever fits in with the day/week ahead really. As I am exclusively BF, I want to hold out for as long as poss before weaning - ideally six months or even later. My friend who did only BLW waited until eight months (she was exclusively BF) and it all worked really well for her.

Growth spurts

Surely not again?! We had one about two weeks ago, LOL. Is there such a thing as development spurts as well though? So rather than the baby obviously growing, his brain does lots of growing? And if so, do these development spurts sometimes happen at a different time from the more usual physical growth spurt?

Mornin' girls!

Well the jabs kicked Autumns arse lol. It didn't make her grumpy, but she did sleep from 11am to 3pm (last ate at 730am!) had a feed at 3pm. Went back to sleep till 5pm, had a bottle at 7 and then went to bed and woke up at 730am.

She had oatmeal today for the first time! Polished off a tablespoon an then finished the other 7 oz in her bottle. She LOVED it, she was sucking it right off the spoon haha.

OH! She had prunes for the first time last night .. she inhaled them (ick!!) .. oh God, she's gonna be shitting thru the eye of a needle today. Anyone wanna come change her nappys for me?! :)

She's currently freaking out in her jumparoo, bouncing all that built up energy!

Aimee ~ Hope you have a better day today!
Re feeding I think you should go with instinct. I, like you wanted to wait, but Lil Miss did not want to wait haha. Just gotta do what works best for you and Earl. There's nothing wrong with starting with mush, and at 6 months you can transition from the mush to BLW with the finger foods. It's what I plan to do anyways.

Re voice, yes Autumn has found that high pitch screech that only dogs can hear. That's been ...... "fun". :)

Eswift ~ Do you think you could have a touch of post natal depression? (I've had depression since I was 11 on and off and the first sign it's coming back is isolation, weepiness and total lack of energy ... )
I'd pop to your Dr and just have a chat to him/her and see what they say .. My friend who just had a little girl 4 weeks ago is suffering a lil bit with it and they popped her on some happy pills and now shes feeling a lot better! :hugs:

Colsy ~ Well done Monty!! Thats excellent! You'll get there with getting out the door, just do what I do when I arrange to meet someone, tell your self 10, but tell them 11, then we normally end up getting there about the same time haha.

Re the sleeping .. just breath and enjoy it, don't try and analize it too much, you'll drive your self INSANE. About once a month Autumn will have a 2 day sleepathon (growth spurt) and pretty much just wake up to eat. You gotta think, they are growing at a great rate of knots and sometimes they just need a recharge. After the 2 days sleepathon, she'll go back to her normal pattern of 7pm to 7am, nap at 930am (1-2 hours) .. 30 min nap about 12ish and then 2 hours about 3pm.

Jo ~ Glad the weening is going well. I'm going to start to make my own stuff too, I just wanted to see what she liked first so I didn't make this batch and it was wasted. The Gerber pre made foods are pretty good here, all it is, is the veg with a bit of water. I've pretty much discovered at Lil Miss would eat anything lol.

Sorry your DD is being bullied. That sucks, I was really bullied at school. In those days tho, you just had to suck it up, teachers thought it was kids being "high spirited".

Kte ~ Sorry Chloes tooth is giving her jip. Autumn really loves it when I take her dummy and rub it along her gums if they are bugging her. She starts going OooooHHH Ahhhhhh Ahhhhh MMmmmmm Like its the best feeling EVER haha.

Ok I gotta get some breakfast!

Just posted this https://www.babyandbump.com/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=60 Be interested to know what you use as seats for your LOs. We need something other than a Bumbo as Monty has rugby-player's thighs!
