Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

Ive lived all over Manchester, I move too much, im in the high peak area now and its lovely.

Maffie, check out the Sure Start groups in Buxton, NM and C-e-l-F. They run loads of free groups in the area and I really recommend. We do baby massage, and we're thinking of joining one of the walking groups and maybe the music and communication groups.

xx

Just found out about quite a few groups in NM (I dont drive so being able to walk or get a bus to places is a must)

There's sensory play, swimming, messy play and a mum and baby group so need to look into all of them.

I won't repeat here as I've put a post in Baby Club, but here's the link https://www.babyandbump.com/baby-club/270340-turning-big-corner-some-light-end-tunnel.html

Just want to say a huge thank you to those of you who've sent hugs and flowers along the way. Hope I can be of help to you in return one day. xx

:hugs: colsy :)

Chaos, that pic of Autumn is gorgeous!

Eswift, I hope you can get things sorted soon & also that your son (and Jo's Chloe) calm down a bit. It amazes me how grown up 10 yr olds can be at times, or more to the point, how grown up they 'think' they are!!!

Helz, Ethan sounds like he's doing sooo well!

Kaites, we have set up a ton of savings accounts since having Harry & are also insured up to the eyeballs now, lol. I didn't want to take any chances, so we are quite literally insured for every situation that life might throw atb us so that Harry is covered. We also set up just a lil savings account for Harry that has a whole £80 in it at the mo, which we're using for any birthday, xmas, easter money people are kind enough to give him, and the government child trust fund too. (in the UK, the governemtn gives every child £250 for a trust fund to invest until the child is 18 that you can either leave as it is, or add to over the years)

Maffie, the sure start groups can be hit or miss, depending on the people in the groups, lol. Some of mine were full of teens & I felt really old & out of place, despite looking younger than half of them, lol. I do the BF group & the sensory play sessions at the moment. I was gonna do baby signing, but it's so similar to Makaton, which i already have the advanced certificate in due to work (i work with severely autistic ppl, ppl with learning difficulties & other issues such as epilepsy & cerebal palsy) so I didnt see the point in the end. I am thinking of joining the next buggy walking group in an attempt to lose weight (yeah right!) and when Harry's more mobile (sitting up by himself etc) I will take him to the messy play & wrigglers & gigglers group, which does music, art, play etc & looks really fun.

Kte- glad Chloe's christening went well. Cant wait for Harry's in May/June half term :)

Jo- hope Sam is less grizzly for you soon.

Sam & AimeeLou- thanks for the wedding good wishes. It's a bit overwhelming, but I'm so excited. I'm not having a hen night coz of Harry, so the 'big day' will be it. I am sooooo looking forward to going to Italy. We now need to find a good buggy to take with us that will withstand the bumpy roads & paths in mountainy & vineyardy regions while we're out there & a carseat coz I think Harry will've outgrown his by the time we go there. I love the fact that the villa has a little pool outside so I can swim everyday, even if it's freezing!

LK- how is gorgeous James doing today?

Sorry if I've missed anyone out! Memory is crap these days!

Hi everyone :)

Date went very well last night hehe. Going to be seeing him again as soon as we can sort something out lol. James is doing very good. Growing like a weed and chatting away to anything that moves and alot of things that don't lol. Hes currently chewing away on his lion rattle lol. He is still sleeping through from 8.30pm to 8.30am which is great!

Hey ladies!
Hope all is well with you guys! Since yesterday's post, I've been sick, sick, sick :( We thought DH had food poisoning on Tuesday night but looks like it was the flu and he gave it to me. I'm just hoping that Emma doesn't get sick- I'm trying to BF as much as possible today in the hopes that maybe there are some antibodies present to help her fight it off. Emma had a rough evening too since her usual routine was disturbed but she did a couple things that surprised me. First thing was feeding herself with a bottle of EBM. TBH I have no concept of what normal is when it comes to self feeding since I'm lazy and don't really do bottles (she's only had about 5 bottles in her lifetime and the last time was in December), but I was impressed that she took it between her hands, took it out of her mouth when she wanted a break and the found her mouth again when she was ready for more. The other thing she did was wiggle up to me in bed (she's done that before), roll onto her side and try to lift my shirt up in the middle of the night- persistant baby, lol! Anyway, we're having a relaxing day. DH is out buying soup and looking into buying a new battery for the car- yeah, the car also died on me yesterday afternoon but luckily I didn't have the baby with me and a nice guy gave my car a boost. Sorry for the moan but it's been a rough 24hrs! :)

eswift- hope things improve with your DS :hugs:
Aimee- I don't think that sounds morbid- we are planning a trip to see my grandmother to do the same thing.
sam76- enjoy your getaway! Sounds lovely!
Kte- have fun at the pirate party- take lots of pics of Chloe :)
Colsy- aww- so glad to hear things are going better!
Flora- we have something similar to the child trust fund here too where the government gives a percentage of money placed in a "registered education saving fund".
LK- glad to hear you had a good date :)

Well, DH just walked through the door with a Jolly Jumper (as if Emma needs more toys!), soup and orange juice so I better get going. :hugs: to those that need them!

Evening all,

How are we all?!

Flora - Tuscany is gorgeous! We went to Florence for our honeymoon and it was just fabulous! Can't really help with the buggy but I would say that I would probably go for cheap and cheerful. I need a 'chuckable' buggy for when we go on holidays, visits, town lol as the Silver Cross is great while he's small but it's everso bulky and heavy.

LK - Glad you had a good time on your date. What is it with phone salesmen? My hubby used to work at The Carphone Warehouse and he used to, and I quote, get loads of interest lol.

Colsy - so glad to read that youre all doing so well

Earl has had a funny day - Whenever hubby has a day off Earl is always sooo happy and giggly. I think I bore him :dohh: But it means that he's absolutely knackered on a night lol. We also put him in his door bouncer this afternoon and he loves it!! So cute to see him wobbling about lol.

Anyhoo's, Jam Roly Poly and cream has just been presented to me so I'm off to get fat lol. Have a lovely weekend :hugs:

Hmmm I think the only reply to that is Oh...dear! Why is it that the one night you have a few drinks....the baby decides to wake up at 7.30am for the first time in weeks?!

Morning all

Glad you had a nice time LK, hope you can get James back off so you can have another nap.

Im a bit groggy myself struggling to sleep.

Lol tell me about it. I actually feel pretty damn good now though for some reason. Cup of tea was all it took to make me feel fine lol. Off to have my hair cut in half an hour yay.

Hi Girls, well i had a fab time yday at the hotel, it was so weird not having George with us, but i needed it, i missed him so much though, but he was as good as gold for his nan!!! Hope everyone is Well, Little kitten, have i missed something, when was ur date, how did it go??

Evening Ladies...

OH has been a star; yesterday was his b'day... We went highchair shopping and came home with a new iron, a print cartridge and a tub of sweeties... and no highchair....

Spent today visiting OH Mum, my Great Aunt and my Nanna... Shattered now... OH at work tomorrow so not long until bed time...

Sam I had a date on Thursday night. Went really well and we are supposed to be going out again.

LK - Glad you had a good time. Judging by your posts it was a very good time! :winkwink:

Well I'm shattered! We've had a long day today. Up at 5.30 again this morning - I think this is now our regular getting up time now as I even pushed his bedtime back last night til nearly 7.30 and nothing. So, I'm resigned to early starts for the forseeable  I'm hoping that he'll sleep a little longer tonight as we didn't get back for SIL's until 7.30 but he was asleep and we just put him straight to bed. I'm expecting him to wake up anytime soon but he's not even making a sound....he's had a busy day.

Tomorrow should be nice. I think we're going to just have a nice day watching movies. Got a bit of housework to do and I want to start work on a cot bumper but that wont take all day.

I hope we're all having a nice weekend. I'm off to bed now.....9.20pm...I'm such a lightweight! lol

Evening all!

I've signed up to the gym today :smug: , have my induction on Weds so they can show me how all the machinery works etc and got a personal trainer to set me some goals and a programme! Can't wait, I soooo need to shift 1st or so then i'll be happy, oh and I can't wait to get rid of my flabbyy tummy! :happydance: its £27 a month, thought it was abit dear but hopefully I will go enough to compensate for the price, its open till 10:30 at night so planning on going in the evening when DP gets home from work

Anyway better go, Theo just waking up for a feed

x

Well I got my lie in :happydance: - Earl slept until 6.30!! I woke up at 5.30 but no noise so I just rurned over and got an extra hour! :happydance: Feel so good for it! Maybe I need to do more with him to tire him out lol.

Morning girlies and bubbies...how are we all on this lovely cloudy day?! I've got so much to do today lol. James was awake at 7.30am again, had his bottle at 8am and is now napping again lol. Unfortunately I am wide awake now so no more sleep for me. So this morning I have to go to the shops, get a new folder for my portfolio cos the damn thing has broken and I have my interview tomorrow! Then sort out and put back together my portfolio. Then I have arranged to see a very old friend who I havn't seen for a fair old while even though we speak every day pretty much lol. So all very exciting cos hes not met James yet :)

Had my hair cut yesterday and feeling sooooo much better lol. Hadn't had it cut since James was about 2 weeks old. Was a birthday present from my mummy. Can't believe I'm going to be 25 in 2 days and I'm a mummy and everything! Feel so grown up pmsl. Ah well can still be very childish when its called for lol. James thinks its hysterical if I sit in front of him pulling faces and singing daft songs. And for those of you who have watched Lion King 2....he also thinks its beyond hysterical if my brother gets close up to him singing 'Roasty toast the princess' lol.
