Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

Thats fab news Chaos! i was like that, we put George in his own room on Saturday, and i hardly slept, but he seems really settled and sleeping well

Can I ask those who have put their babies in their own rooms, how did you decide was the right time? I cant see me being ready any time soon.

Her feet where poking thru the end of the bassinet haha

I will do the same, once Chloe can't fit in her moses basket then she will have to go in her own room. She is growing super fast at the mo, I bought some 6-9 month sleep suits two weeks ago, the legs were dangling off her and now they fiT

Chaos ~ They didn't measure her lengtth, must dig out 'ol tape measure! She is long thought, people can never believe she has just gone 3 months because of her size!

Hey there!
Hope everyone is having a good day! Emma had fun "chatting" with one of the boys in yoga class today- the two of them wiggled themselves around to look at one another and then babbled back and forth for most of the class. Little flirts! :) Have to see who she meets at baby massage tomorrow, lol

Maffie- hope Noah is doing well after his jabs. We have our second lot of them on Friday. It's alway nice to get encouragement on the BFing too :) My mum has started to go on a bit about weaning too- my mum, Emma and I all have the same GP and she's really supportive of me BFing 'til 6mths because of the WHO guidelines, so my mum softened a bit after I said, "...but Dr. C wants us to wait..." I tried moving Emma to her own room a few months ago when she started sleeping through since hubby is a super loud snorer and it worked out fine until the 3mth growth spurt hit. When she started waking up again during the night, I just found it easier to keep her in our room. I'm waiting to see if she has a 4mth spurt and if she does, then we'll wait until it's over to move her. I think I read a recommendation of 6mths to move them, but honestly between hubby's snoring, and Emma farting, I can't wait that long to start getting a good night sleep... maybe I should move to my own room and leave the noisy ones together :haha:

Aimee- way to go Earl! :) Sounds like he was keeping you on your toes today! Hubby does the face blowing thing with Emma too- I gotta give the daddies credit for coming up with new ways of making babies smile. I'm definitely not that inventive

Kte- way to grow Chloe! :)

Nij- that's interesting about the old wives tales. I don't have dyslexia- I think I walked first because my mum let me play for hours in a walker and that probably just seemed like the natural thing to do  Emma loves both her exersaucer and Jolly Jumper (definitely doesn't spend hours in them at a time tho!) and they keep her upright too so maybe that has something to do with it? Oh, and the whistling- my OH can't really whistle either- or at least not well- but his attempts make Emma smile :)

Chaos- I'm not really worried about bow legs- from what I've read, seems like that is another old wives tale (although I did read up about it so I guess I was concerned about it, lol). I figure if she's strong enough to be able to get into the standing position on her own from my lap, then I'll let her play around at it as long as she's not getting too tired and likely to do herself an injury. Glad to hear Autumn did well on her own last night. I hope your wrist is feeling better- can't be fun picking Autumn up with a wrist injury :hugs:

jo- Emma pretty much hates the Bumbo atm. She arches her back, trying to pop her legs out of the leg holes, grunting the whole time. From everything I've heard, they either love it or hate it

Well, time to go find my hubby in his Man Cave and enjoy a before dinner drink together- Emma just finished feeding and is having a little nap here so time to get off the computer. Have a good night! :hugs:

Nij; I heard it was dyspraxia, not dyslexia that was linked with skipping crawling before walking. I walked at 9mths & never crawled, just went straight to cruising apparently... I have neither dyslexia or dyspraxia or dysgraphia or any of the other 'dys' thingies, lol. I think it's just a wives tale. Their is a correlation between dyslexia & forceps delivery though according to studies.

Kaites; that pic of Emma standing is totally adorable. She looks such a bright eyed little girl, ful of smiles & curiosity! Harry prefers to be standing too; if i lay him down or sit him on my lap, he squirms & moans, but as soons as I stand him up, he's all smiles again. He loves being in his door bouncer & will tolerate the bumbo equivalent (prince lionheart bebepod) for around 15mins at a time before squirming & moaning & throwing his head backwards, and the same goes for his babychair & play mat. I think he just gets bored quickly.

Jo; yay for Sam's first tooth!!!

Aimee; loving the 'mobile baby' post :)

LK; congrats on the job! :happydance:

Honeysunshine; welcome back!!! :hi:

Maffie, what a lovely compliment on your BFing! :) I am still too much of a wuss to BF in public. I will do it in the car, at my bfing group, in my own house & in any of the shop changing/feeding rooms, but as yet I just haven't been able to pluck the courage up to do it in full pulic view. I think it's coz where I live is full of tossers, navy blokes & underage chavvy parents & also that I have NEVER seen anyone else nurse in public here, other than once in the library... I WILL do it one day though, lol, even if it is only once! haha!

Sorry I haven't been around much recently.... What with the house move & renovation/redecorating, Harry's great grandad dying & then this week was the 1 yr anniverasry of one of my childhood best friend's death, and all the wedding planning (argh at the financial ruin!) it's all been a bit overwhelming.... Oh has this week off work, so it's a pleasant relief to not be own my own all day & be able to relax a bit more & take it in turns playing with Harry, have a long bath, go for walks, do some more painting & stuff... and have a bacon sandwhich for brekkie, lol.

Anyways, how is everyone? Anyone got any fun plans for Valentine's? I'm going out for a meal with OH, while my sis looks after Harry; I'm scared coz it's the first time I've left him & I've convinced myself something will happen :dohh: Hopefully me worrying wont ruin the meal!

Maffie - Earl has been in his own room technically from 3 weeks and officially from 5 weeks. It was a mixture of factors but mainly it was :

- We were all keeping each other awake constantly - we're all very loud sleepers apparently:shrug:
- After sleeping in his travel cot at MIL's he didn't like to sleep in one of his moses baskets, which was the one in our room
- At 3 weeks we could tell that it wouldn't be long until he didn't fit into his moses in the living room so we had to make the transition. He was out of it by 6 weeks! :dohh:

He's always slept so well and I think at that young age I was so tired that I couldn't help but sleep instead of lying awake worrying  He will still sleep in his cot in the living room but loves his cot and snuggles down into his mattress....he always looks so comfy! lol

Morning all, well Noah was awake till 10pm last night and he had a feed and some paracetamol as he had a raised temp. He was winded and asleep within minutes :cloud9: and woke just after 6am :happydance: so thats 3 nights straight through now.

Fleur I occasionally get nervous about feeding but I just end up thinking he needs it and I should get on with it. I started doing it in public when I had people with me at first as I felt the support was great. So I started with OH there or my mum and brother. Ive found a few places I struggle to feed but thats more to logistics such as trams/trains/buses (they are usually too cramped)

I got a connecta carrier yesterday :happydance: not tried it out yet but looking forward to that.

If I sleep on the futon downstairs (beds full of clothes ) He sleeps in the travel cot, when we are upstairs I have Noah's cot by my side of the bed. I might think about moving the cot in a few months.

Blurrghh ... sleep deprived mummy here. OK, so Monty has not slept through for a couple of weeks now, but even so he has generally been doing 7pm til 4am, then back to sleep after BF until about 8am. His appetite has been severely reduced the past few days, to the point that we thought about going to the dr. Not any more, LOL. Last night was bed at 7pm, feed at 10.30pm (just as I was snuggling into bed), feed at 1am, feed at 6am, then absolutely wide awake so no chance of going back to sleep. Finally went back to sleep at 8am, so I am expecting a call any minute now. So what on earth was going on there then? I know compared with some babies this doesn't sound like a bad night, but once you get used to just one feed in the night this feels pretty damn difficult! I guess he's regained his appetite anyway, so we've cancelled the dr apptmt.

Maffie, where did you get your cool BF smilie icon from? I want to add one to my signature.

Saw it on a few siggies so grabbed it and popped it on photobucket. i keep meaning to google some

Morning girls. Hope everyone is well.

Colsy - James does that every now and again if hes had a bad couple of days with his feeding. You will probably find he's back to normal again tonight lol. Just try to grab a nap when he does lol. I also find if he's only taken 4-5oz for a couple of feeds like yesterday then he really makes up for it and drains 7oz bottles every 3 hours the next day. Think his problem yesterday was constipation and since hes had a poo this morning hes guzzling food like no tomorrow lol.

Well I had a lovely day yesterday. My mum had got me a card and pressie from James so that was dead sweet. Then he gave me lots of lovely snogs lol. Went for an indian at lunch with my nan which was nice. And then a friend came over with a card and some lovely choccies. So all in all a good day. Expecting a present through the post today from my friend in Oxford as it didn't arrive yesterday. And then off to watch Avatar in 3D with my brother and his girlfriend this evening. Hopefully my best male mate will be joining us but he isn't sure as his granny died on Monday so can forgive him if he doesn't feel up to it.

What are we all up to today? I have been defrosting the freezer and now its driving me loopy by bleeping constantly to tell me its too warm. Duh!!!

Morning all,

Well I woke to Chloe having a right good happy chunter this morning at 7am, not a bad time and a cute wake up call. Everyday she seems to be coming on leaps and bounds. Last night she was banging away at her pop up surprise ball, she was mesmarised by it! This morning she attempted to roll over, still a way to go but its funny how she just suddenly decided to try.

Oh before I forget, we got given a prince lion heart chair but for some reason we were also given a bumboo tray, not sure if you get these anyway with a bumbo so if anyone wants it let me know, it obviouly doesnt fit the chair we have!

okay best go, 1 hand typing not my forte and little miss has woken from her nap, time to play :)

Oooo Kte my bumbo tray was broken when we got it lol. Have never gotten around to replacing it so if its not too cheeky James would appreciate Chloe's lots and lots lol. Aww so cute when they just randomly decide to do something!

... and now he's gone back to bed AGAIN!

Out of interest, are there some Bumpkins out there whose babies are still not particularly interested in toys but are far more interested in Mummy and Daddy? That's our boy, that is! We don't have oodles and oodles of toys like some people, but we do have a few things that I think look interesting ... but he sure prefers to be sitting on my lap holding hands or eating his own hands;-) He's not very interested in mirrors either, which I thought babies were meant to love at this stage. He can't sit up unaided yet, but he defo loves sitting up "like a big boy", as we call it, against the headboard of the bed or the back of the settee.

Mornin' girls,

Just poking my head in quick as I gotta run off to the GYN for my yearly smear (ick)

Just wondering, for those who are BFing in public and slightly nervous .. have you ever heard of nursing covers? They seem VERY popular over here.

Just an example:

https://www.target.com/Munchkin-Jel...chSize=30&id=Munchkin Jelly Bean Nursing Wrap

Its basically a bit of fabric that does up around your neck and just shields your boob/baby from everyone else! :) Pretty easy to make too.

Okay LK, you got it Pm me your address and i will get it down to the post office! (After I have raided work for postal supplies on Fri  :haha:

Oh Chaos, you reminded me, I have to book mine again, booked it before but AF came so had to cancel!

I got told off at my smear yesterday over 9 years since my last one (bad I know) bricking the results now.

chaos I cant cover Noah's head he pulls anything off that I do. He hates my BFing tops as he cant get his hands on the boobies

Colsy I have days where Noah just wants to sit on my knee. He likes to look at the tv, laptop, books, newspapers anything as long as its not for babies  He does love his toys though. He has a blue bear and he wont settle to sleep without it now (im dreading it falling to bits or getting lost).

Im off to a postnatal group tomorrow, feeling a bit nervous but need to meet some people as im feeling a bit isolated here not knowing anyone.

Hmm interesting (thank you for all your replies re Dyslexia and skipping crawling).
I have both Dyslexia and Dyspraxia - but I was a CSection baby, so no forceps, but who knows what they had to do to drag me out back in the day.

Oh love the pics BTW

... and now he's gone back to bed AGAIN!

Yeah Chloe seams to be like that.......always seams to be whoever she is sat on/with she is more interested in the other one of us! lol (yeah i know what i wanna say but i cant type it lol)

Afternoon Ladies...

I really am gonna have to invest in a highchair out of this weeks wages. This weaning thing seems to be working for CC, she was up for breakie at 7am; not a bad time LOL... She's currently in 3-6 months going rapidly into 6-9 months (They've a little growing room...)

We put CC into her own room what feels like an age LOL (Just after New year) she was seeming to be disturbed by us (OH snores terribly... Plus he was starting to look like a zombie, from being hit all night for snoring... LOL) He's not so bruised now... CC does go down very well in her room come 8/9 ish, still wakes for a 1am feed, she sometimes misses the 4am one; but still have a 6am one and 7am for solids... Not too bad, really...

So far I've not found anything she doesn't like, sticking to veg and fruit, with baby cereal, rusk and the odd fromage frais... She wolf down most things at 11am, today she had broccoli followed by choclate fromage frais; she fell asleep during the pudding LOL and finished it off when she woke... She really is a piglet... Loves banana... (I can't stand them... Even the smell churns my stomach... nose curl...)

Florabean ~ Don't be shy about bfing, you should be proud of yourself. There's nothing more natural, it's best for you and Babe. I got the lecture from my Great Aunt the other day when I mentioned about think of putting CC onto formula; she's a farmers wife... I'm still bfing; even though I've started weaning... It works for us, she's not chewing her hands as much, nor is she as grumpy and she's starting to have longer naps. The way I see it she's getting the best of both... I was Bfing at the clinic the other day and all the mothers sat there bottle feeding kept smiling and nodding at me... HV mentioned it was good to see CC was still Bfing... Have confidence girl, Other's feed babe in cafe's without embarrassment (sp?) Don't be cramped in the car. I carry a piece of musline in my nappy bag just incase I feel the need to cover up... (I've a lot of squadies living near me LOL)
