Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

Um .. so .. yea .. I was a month early for my gyn appointment

Good afternoon ladies!

Emma and I had our first baby massage class today and it was great! She's been passed out on the couch beside me for over an hour now so it seems to have done the trick and relaxed her, lol :) She managed to make friends with another little boy in the class- I think I'm going to have my hands full when she gets a little older. The boy kept reaching over to Emma, and rubbing her head like he was giving her a massage :)

Flora- adorable pics of Harry! Such a cute smile in the first one :) I'd probably be a little shy to BF in public with your description of your neighbours too :haha: I usually just use a sarong or pashmina to try to cover us up but Emma usually has other plans and waves her arms around like I'm suffocating her, drawing more attention to us :dohh:

Maffie- You got the Connecta  I remember you posting about wanting one in the natural parenting section after getting the Moby- sounds like you and Noah are getting a nice collection of carriers :) I got something similar a couple weeks ago and love it! OH thinks I'm crazy to have bought another carrier, but it's so convenient to get it on and off with the buckles. Hope you have a good time at the postnatal group and meet lots of nice people :)

Colsy- glad to hear Monty has an appetite again :) Emma isn't really a fan of toys either. I guess she's just more of a social butterfly, always wanting to hang out and be entertained by people instead  It's not for lack of toys to choose from though!

Chaos- :haha: eager for your smear, huh? ;)

Well, looks like the princess is finally waking up- better run :)

Just took a picture of Noah in his bumbo

i got harry weighed at my new local clinic today... at 18+1wks, he is now 12lbs 2oz! that means he put on 1lb 4oz in 3 weeks, so i'm over the moon!!! :happydance:

cute piccie of noah maffie :)

Maffie, cute pic of Noah, he has lots of hair! Think its the first pic I have seen of him.

Little miss is overtired and having a grump in her swing. She has been eating like there is no tomorrow so growth spurt ahoy me thinks!

best go, will try and be back! always so much to say and never the time!

Kte dont think ive posted many pics of him on here, I tend to stick them all on facebook (well not all theres loads )

Kaites the connecta is gorgeous, not tried it out yet, its such a funky colour/pattern.

Flora sounds like Harry is thriving

Fell asleep before my evening pumping session so now awoken to boobs needing emptying lol. Daren't let my body forget an evening pump as my milk some days just isnt upto much.

Maffie, i am just as bad with the pics Lol I messaged you my FB account profile link thingy if you want!

I can not sleep . . . not good, hope my friend comes tomorrow, she cancelled on me last week, if she comes the lack of sleep isn't a problem and she has seen me in my PJ's plenty of times to not care, we have know each other since we were 3. I never knew how sqwirmy Chloe is during the night bless, she grabs her dummies (yes, there is two in there) moves her arms and drops them down elsewhere lol

Chaos ~ Ouch sounds nasty all the joint popping, hope everything feels better soon :flower:

Flora ~ Sounds like a hectic time but its really good to see you back again :hugs:

Kaites ~ lol bless Emma batting her eyes at the boys already!

Colsy ~ I had to hold the toy for Chloe when she was on my knee, i was impressed she actually acknowledged it. she used to look 'through it' before. She was flailing her arms about so was hitting the ball, she was very uncoordinated but loves exploring with her hands. She wouldnt be bothered about not having a toy with her, she loves interacting with people mainly.

Right must try and attempt some Zzzzzz's

Hi ladies,

Well, yesterday was fun. I thought Earl was developing a cold but it must just have been a monster teething session. Temperature, flushed and swollen face, sniffly, really, really grumpy and unable to eat without full doses of everything. We went to bed at 7 and have woken up this morning full of the joys of spring lol. At the moment he's sat next to me telling the TV what he really thinks of the state of the economy lol.

Chaos - I have pre-arthritis in my wrists which meant that while I was growing up my wrists would dislocate at the drop of the hat. Now they're in the 'good' stage where they're no longer weak but very soon they will start to get stiffer and arthiritis will kick in....no idea when but usually before the age of 30. :nope: I have sympathy for your joints popping....it's very very annoying and for me, painful!

Maffie - awwww how cute is Noah!! :flower:

Colsy - Earl is more interested in things around him and just taking everything in at the moment. When he's in 'play mode' then he loves his cubes and his play arch, but that only lasts about 10 minutes tops then we're back to watchng the dog and staring at the light fittings and Daddy! lol

One funny thing that happened yesterday. Earl was playing up while we were eating our tea at about 5ish yesterday. He was in his cot just staring at us eating an dshouting at us trying to sit himself up. I got fed up of him shouting lol (he does this A LOT! lol) so decided that instead of fighting it, I would just put him on my lap. Not something I ordinarily do as I'm not very co-ordinated and as I eat on my lap, it could get messy lol. But, I did this as it was only pasta and only needed a fork. Well.....all he did was sit flapping with excitement, watching me eat and giggling everytime I took a bite of food. I almost can't wait for breakfast lol

Anyway ladies....best go and try to put the rest of Earl's breakfast into him. He's taken to stopping eating after 4oz for a break :dohh: so I have to leave him for half na hour then start again otherwise he's snacking all day. Still, anything is better than yesterday!

Have a nice day ladies xx :hugs:

Morning Ladies...

We've had a break through! CC slept through, ok so it was from 1am until 7am, but that's fantastic! She had 4 meals yesterday... LOL...

she had, porridge, broccoli, chocolate fromage frais, Banana and rusk...

I feel like we've made progress, plus she woke up so happy; no urgency for a boob feed; had a nibble and weighted for her fruit yoghurt; and another nibble then a play whilst I get my breakie; now she's zzzzing away...

Ok so I shouldn't get excited, but I feel like Wow! we can do this... The future is looking so much brighter... I was beginning to doubt my abilities, as I was finding things rather hard, OH says it's cause I'm so tired... Probably right...

We definately need a highchair, feeding her in her bouncy chair is knacking my back... LOL I'm gonna take a trip to the local 2nd hand shop today to see if there's one there... Fingers crossed... (Why is it things babe's need never are needed when you've the cash to buy them?)

Anyway, best make the most of her zzzing, I'm off to get dressed... Have a great day all...

(Nice to see I'm not the only one whose to go for a smear... Urgh, what fun! Putting mine off until easter if I can, nurse said they don't like doing it until after the 4month mark as they have a higher risk of coming back with abnormalities... Any excuse is good enough for me... LOL)

Blurrgh again. Another night with more than usual feeds. It's funny how you get used to just doing one feed a night and that feels fine. Stick in another two feeds and I feel pretty shite TBH. You wouldn't think it would make that much difference. Monty is clearly using the night times to make up for his lack of appetite over the past few days. I just wish he'd use the daytime instead to catch up LOL. Baby massage yesterday ... he didn't like it as much as last week, and the teacher ended up saying "If Monty doesn't enjoy such and such, then just try picking him up". I think that was a polite way of asking me to stop my child crying because it was disturbing the other babies, ho hum. He was fine once I picked him up so we just sat there and watched the others doing their massages.

thanks for the FB add!

glad CC slept through and you feel better :)

know what you mean about feeding in the bouncy chair i ache all over so last night i sat on the floor, got a numb bum but no back ache lol

we bought sam a graco high chair from asda for £20 its really nice and comes with toys on the tray, i put him in it last week but it didnt go down to well, he started choking on his carrots, whether or not it was just coincedence or not i dont know but i couldnt get him out quick enough.

do you give CC rusk to hold and eat or mashed up? we tried sam with one mashed up with his milk but it seems to play up his tummy so i havent tried it again since.

Hiya girls

Sorry i dont pop in much but TBH i forget about this thread :dohh:

How are we all? Sienna is a little minx now and just started on 1 meal a day.. She loves her food bless her.. We have decided to start TTC later this year so thats a bit scary  Are any of you planning on starting again this year?

Take care girls and i'll catch you all soon xxx :flower:

Hi babylove! Nice to see you bck. Sienna is such a cutie. I was planning on TTC later this year but obviously thats all gone down the pan now lol. Can't imagine being a single mum to a 1 year old and a newborn.

hey leah, i started a message to you on FB yesterday to see how you and sienna were but sam was screeching and had to give up lol TTC again yay for you, i'm yet to get oh to agree to ttc in a year or so, he's adament 1 child is enough for him :( I WILL get my way though!

Jo ~ I generally give her the rusk as a gloop with boiled water, same with the porridge and a baby yoghurt; (I have used rusk as a biscuit for her to chew on with her little teeth, her gums are so white with the teeth hiding so close.) The veg and things I'm giving CC are made from veg that has been steamed and blended down; they're frozen and are taken out when we need them... I picked up some fantastic portion trays from boots that just put in the freezer... Sometimes she spits it back out LOL but when I put another spoonful in she eat the lot... Keep trying...

I have been and brought a couple of jars of baby food (I'm not a big fan, but sometimes needs must LOL) and think at times it's worth letting them try the easy option as sometimes time is in short measure... I use to make food for DS in bulk and freeze it ready for use, certainly made life easy back then...

My sister was shell shocked today; she asked me if I try all of CC's food. Well a pop the spoon on my bottom lip to make sure it's not too hot, so I do end up with a taste. I don't mind what I've made, it taste no different... But the jars are bloody awful! Rusks are rusks... LOL

I didn't find a high chair! OH is gonna take me to the market on Sunday, plus I'm watching a couple on ebay... I've come to the conclusion that as OH's wages aren't gonna be right until the end of the month, if we at least get a 2nd hand one at a price we can afford; we won't go far wrong. My part time wages is running the house and buying the shopping so we've not got much left for anything really... Plus we've not done too bad with the other stuff we've managed to get 2nd hand...

Colsy ~ Big Hugs Love! I hope you're not feeling too zombie-fied... I really feel for you... Sleep deprivation knackers you well and truely... Make all your prospectives wrong... Hope you get some quality sleep or at least a nap later...

Baby.Love ~ We're still talking about TTCing when CC is at least a year old, I'm planning on doing the 15 wks etc at work to get my full maternity pay etc again. Maybe January next year when we start TTCing... LOL what a way to start a new year... We're still talikng about me starting back at work in September; if I seem to get to brain dead I may start back in July... OH still keeps asking if we'll try again after the next... I keep telling him the samething, I definately would like another one, maybe another two but after that no more... LOL Glunten for punishment!!!

Hello Babylove. nice to see you back!!! are you on Fbook, that may be better to keep in touch, pm me with info, Sienna is sooooooo cute, and thats fab about trying again, when are you thinking off, Well this morning ladies me & george went to Musical Minis, god it was funny, singing and playing with instruments!!! Hope were all well xxxx

I just freeze my baby food in ice cube trays, then pop the frozen blocks in a freezer bag. She has 2 cubes per meal at the moment (just moved up from 1)

the pots i have hold two meals worth so i fill them up, keep one in fridge then freeze the rest and defrost the morning i need new food. i seen a recipie in my annabel karmel book for chicken with sweet potato and apple, anyone know if its ok to try chicken yet??

we buy the odd jar for when ive been slacking and not made more food when the frozen has run out, they taste absolutely awful!! sam doesnt really like them either, he likes his food to have texture and hates anything thats really smooth.

i think his tooth is getting ready to play up, he has one bright red cheek and he's slobbering more than my boxer dog does when food is around!

anyone whos read my thread about chloe and school, well the head had a word with this girl, i dont think anything has happened since. ive told chloe im going to try and move her schools and explained why. she's happy with that :) i sent the forms off yesterday with my 2 preferences so fingers crossed we'll get the first choice :)

Went for a lovely walk this morning with the girls and babies from postnatal group, and then we went back to friend's house and had lunch in the garden! Yep, in the garden, even though it snowed yesterday. Their house is on top of a hill, and there we were sat outside looking down the valley at the snow - it felt like being in a ski lodge! Awesome.

Anyway, yesterday I asked about whether other bumpkin babies are more interested in their toys than Monty is. Today, I'm asking how long the other bumpkins are content to play on a playmat for without adult intervention. There were four babies today, and my friend brought out various toys and rugs to lay on the grass. So the other three babies happily lie on their backs kicking their legs and playing with the toys dangling from the arch thing, while Monty is the odd one out being the only one to glare at the toys as if they're evil LOL. He laid on the mat under the arch for about one minute and then cried for attention, and he really got cross with me cos I refused to give in for once and instead I ate my scrambled egg while he yelled at me. Meanwhile the other three babies continued to coo at the toys and generally not notice that their mums were eating.

This is a fairly typical scenario for us, with other babies being much less demanding, so I was just wondering whether the other bumpkins would have been like those other three babies or like Monty. I have to say that other babies do generally seem a lot happier to just kick and play than Monty is. This of course may change as we turn even more corners soon (as some of you know, things have got HEAPS better for us in the past couple of weeks), but I would sometimes like to meet a few other babies who are equally demanding. It's hard sometimes when you feel yours is the baby yelling more than anybody else's. Hey ho, I am sure I am not the first person to ever feel like that!

One more question: when you're doing something like drying your hair or eating lunch - so something that you can't hold baby while doing but you can still make eye contact and talk to baby - do you stop doing it as soon as baby demands your attention? Or do you let baby cry until you've finished the activity but at the same time you talk to baby to let him know he's safe and that you won't be very long?
