Bumpkins & Babies Chat Thread

jack is doing fine ta hun...how are you all positioned on weaning?...the HV told me to start weaning Jack today...just wondering if anyone has any tips for me? x

:hi: Lhamil & Jack :) No advice on weaning as I havent started it yet with Harry, but I'm sure some of the other's can help.

Wow, you girls can talk, lol. Nice to see you back Babylove- your new hair & lip piercing are fab

all is well here for me & bubs.... going swimming tomorrow with him, so I'm kinda excited. :)

colsy, harry will occupy himself for up to an hour, but it's very dependant on how hungry/tired he is when i put him down to play & also whether he can hear/see me or whoever else is in the room & also with certain background noises like the washing machine or radio. he doesntb seem to like absolute silence or being left on his own in a room where he canmt see or hear anyone or anything. he's happiest on his change mat plating with his hand n feet to be honest, but will grab for toys, shake them, suck them, throw them etc, which is cute to watch.
as for letting them cry- yeah, i let harry cry, but never more than 5 mins before i tend to him because the noise gets to me, lol.
when monty's on his playmat, have you tried laying down with him & interacting with both him & the toys so he can kinda gauge whats expected of him & that he's ok etc? thats what i have to do with harry when i put him on his tummy or he screams like hell, but if i lay with him, chat, smile, sing & waggle yous at him, he actually bothers to lift his head n look around rather than trying to eat the floor n cry!

Noah hates tummy time but if I put a fleece blanket on the sofa and some toys he'll play on his tummy for ages, trying to crawl and eventually falls asleep with his butt in the air.

Well going to take Noah to meet a friend later today, coffee and a little shopping :) He likes meeting new people he always has a look of curiosity and concentration when he meets someone. The he flashes his big eyes and smiles.

Im so tired today, Noah slept fine again which is wonderful :cloud9: I struggled to be honest. I think my insomnia is going to make a come back.

Lhamil im not weaning yet im enjoying the BF to much at the moment and even though Noah loves watching food i'd like to hold off as he's still happy most days BFing every 2-3 hours and goes 6-8 hours asleep after his night feed.

Well its 'Daddy & Daughter' day here.......so far so good - she is locked in the cellar and I am down the pub! lol

Nah in all honesty she is being as good as gold minus the few little whines lol

I do wonder if I keep waking up in the night because I feel a need to check on Noah? I get sleep but its almost like im anxious. hmmmmm its worse when he sleeps longer.

Morning Nij are you sure its whines, I bet Chloe's just talking to you.

Morning Maffie, its definately not talking - she is crying, I have put her in her moses basket next to me and she is kinda snuffling/hickuping/crying with a damn smile on her face lol.

AS for waking up in the night, I wake up almost on the hour every hour - dont have a clue why.

Ah, I feel high on sleep ... just the one night feed last night, so let's hope that extra two or three feeds that have been happening over the past few days were just a blip. My boy is bizarre sometimes - he got up at 7am today and then was keen to go back to bed by 8am. What's that random hour all about then? Surely it would be easier for all concerned to just tack that on to the whole sleeping thing, rather than waking up randomly for an hour LOL :dohh: Ah well, it doesn't matter at all because I am proud of myself that once again I managed to judge his sleepy signals before he got narky. (This is quite hard in Monty, as he sometimes wakes up yawning and rubbing his eyes, and continues to do so for a while, so based on that I'd actually put him back to bed immediately after waking!)

Aimee, I'd apply for the job, go for the interview (if they invite you, obviously) and then decide. The worst that can happen is that you get offered the job and then you decide not to take it - not a huge problem, and it would be good for your self-esteem to be offered it. The only thing I would say though is what if OH takes up his uni place at a university other that Norwich? He's likely to be offered more than one uni place, so I guess there's a chance that he may rather go for a different one. Or is Norwich is first choice?

Thanks for all the replies so far about whether babies this age like playing with their toys. Florabean, yep, I've defo done the lying down on the playmat to encourage Monty to play with the toys. But still he'd rather grab various human bodyparts LOL than his toys. Ah well, I guess it will happen at some point, I just need to be patient. And when it does happen, no doubt I'll be upset that he is no longer interested in me!

Morning all,

Well I am at work losing the will to live :hissy:

Aimee~ I agree with Colsy, apply and sus it out, then decide, you have nothing to loose that way rather than thinking 'I wonder . . .'

lilhamil ~

Baby.Love ~ :happydance: Welcome back!

Colsy ~ That is usally Chloe's trick, wake us both up at 7am then an hour later she decides it sleep time for her . . . cheeky! I on the other hand am wide awake then!

Maffie ~ I did that for a while - anticipate Chloe waking up. I don't so much anymore, well I wake if she misses a feed but I don't wake up randomly iykwim. :hugs: Hope you can catch up on some sleep.

Nij ~ Hope Goo cheers up  :hugs:

Kte, love the fact you're at work but still checking BnB. Go girl!

Colsy - Kte is skiving.

Kte - She is chuntering away after a 5 min nap, the worlds largest nappy explosion EVER and a feed......all is going well on that aspect........ As for the car, well I spoke to the garage, no probs, bring it down (no cars to lend me or anything, so i got to take it down monday afternoon - god knows how i am gonna get back to collect Chloe or anything not impressed at all). ohhhh I do have a idea!!!! leave it with me.

As your not answering text's, here is the plan, and already agreed by my dad :)
We go over for tea in your car tomorrow, i bring dads car back and use that for work on monday and to collect Chloe. I take the C4 to the garage monday afternoon and you collect us (Chloe and me) from there when you finished work (there in the same building as Halfords), go home, bed. After I have finished work on Tuesday we take my dads car back to him and I borrow your car till mine is fixed, hope ok with you?!?!?

oooh no catching more sleep for me today just getting ready to go out :) Im under strict orders to get myself into the city.

Lol too right, need to keep sane somehow!

Nij ~ I am not skiving, I am mearly multi-tasking. Erm . . . my brain is fried reading what you put but I trust your judgment on the whole car thingy, so long as I don't have to get up stupidly early to walk Chloe to the childminders with car seat in tow  and then bus it to work I am more than happy whatever happens! PS I can't answer texts, not as inconspicous as an internet tab screen :haha:

Maffie ~ Have lots of fun and treat yourself :flower:

Monday - You collect Chloe and myself from Nationwide Autocentre (in Halfords building).

Tuesday - After I have finished work, you pick me up from my mum and dads.

Wednesday and till I get my C4 back I use your car for work :)

Thank you

PS - just taken Chloe for a spin in the Porsche lol

  That makes more sence.

Glad Goo is having a good time now :baby:

Aye she was. Now Virgin man been and his drill woke her up now!

Nij - sounds like the day is going well.

Kte - Hope work is ok :flower:

Thanks everone re: the job. I'm definitely going to get some more information and start an application. Needs to be in by the 26th. The only issue I can forsee is getting to the interview, although I'm sure if it's meant to be then something will present itself. Norwich is starting to look like top choice course wise. He's so far had his unconditional from there and a rejection from Bristol (which we had ind of expected as their initial response was luke warm at best) Still have 3 to come in but only really hoping for Bath as the others (plymouth and hull) didn't respond to his enquiries before. If he gets anything positive from Bath then we'll follow that but for the moment, Norwich it is lol.

Earl is a grumpy boy today. Teething is such a chore for him poor thing. Still, he's still smily enough and had a good chuckle at Dylan

Right, I'm off to go and do some bits and pieces. :coffee: is calling me though. :haha:

Morning!

Off to get my neck all clicked back in to place. I just have to say, my daughter has the burping ability of a 40 year old trucker. It even put a surprised look on HER face.
