Kaites - we had nearly 4 inches of snow today so we're going tomorrow. It's also half term so would have been mobbed if it hadn't snowed lol. We're really looking forward to it :happydance:

Evening all,

Maffie ~ Hope Noah has settled down for you.

Kaites ~ Good luck tomorrow, or lots of confidence vibes, I'm sure you look fine, it's most likely something only you will notice, strangers won't know your 'before look' and won't even realise :hugs:

Flora ~ I saw the bikki pegs but it said from 6 months on the back so I kind of shy'd away from them. Will be investing in them at some point I think. I'm after one of those fabric teethers Aimee mentioned but I haven't had chance to get to the shops yet.

Aimee ~ Enjoy seaworld tomorrow :D

Chaos ~ Hope Autumn is feeling better now :flower:

Just watching the Wedding Singer on channel five, its past the watershead and they still cut out the swearing???

Quick pic of Chloe in her new highchair, and she doesn't cry when she is in it!!

Gee can't believe the time! Bed time me thinks! Nite all

re: bickiepegs, the ones I have say from 4mths  they also make those doidy cups & some other stuff too.

Kte: Harry has a little elephant cuddly tou which has rubbery teething ears, from Ikea, siutable from birth; he has only just got to grip with it it, but appears to really like it; it's bright blue & orange & he chats to it, hugs it & chews on the ears & coz it's bigger, it's much easier for him to orient nit to his mouth. Also, the Mam teethers are good as they are chunky & quite easy for the to hold. He still hasn't got the hand of the tommee tippee gummy thingies- they're so small, he'll hold it, but doesn't get that he's supposed to suck & chew on it like a dummy, so he just kinda holds it in his hand, then lobs it accross the room.

Tonight is our first night not swaddling Harry. We stopped using the actual swaddling blanket a weeks ago & used a normal blanket instead, that he can get out of really easily, so we thought we'd bite the bullet tonight & put him in a sleeping grow bag thingy that nanny got him for xmas. So far, he's been asleep for 3 hours, so I'm really hoping he sticks to his usual pattern of 1am, 4am & 7am wakings & is able to settle easily wihtout being swaddled. Finger's crossed!!! (looking forward to when he drops the 1am & 4am feeds again, lol, I'm knackered!)

anyways, n'nite everyone :)

Morning all, wow we had a shock with the gas bill in this new place 6 weeks and £300 :hissy: the energy leaflet for the house is a lie :grr: so OH is going to insulate the loft more tomorrow cos its pants.

I'll be looking forward to warmer weather and smaller bills!!!!!

Noah has started settling so well at night for me now, I pop him in his sleeping bag and blankie and he is usually asleep within 2-3 minutes. We fell asleep on the sofa together yesterday evening though so he had a shorter sleep in the night still did 11-5.15 so he's doing well. He's fast asleep on the sofa again now.

Got shopping being delivered today *hmmmm really fancy scampi tonight*

I like the look of bikkipegs but the ones ive seen say 6 months.

Good morning ladies,

Strange goings on this morning....Earl WILL NOT take his bottle. I've put some gel on, tried rocking him, hubby's tried bouncing him, tried warming the bottle up to warm instead of room temp....nope, still only had 1oz since 5ams 5oz feed. I've noticed actually he's not impressed when I try to give him milk at the moment, and he needs to be starving to take it. Wil readily take anything solid thrown at him though :dohh: I think I may have started something (he was chewing on a carrot baton last night while we ate tea and he loved it lol.)This morning we had toast for breaksfast and he was reaching out for it. Obviously bread isn't good but hubby gave him a tiny bit of crust with marmite and he sucked the living daylights out of it. Going to go and get some rusks and ricecakes today so that we don't have the gluten problem in future. He's reluctantly take some milk right now from hubby but it's taken some convincing.

Really excited about the aquarium today. :happydance: Will bring back loads of piccies!!

I've posted something on postnatal support that might answer some questions about my ill health. It's interesting read for everyone I think as it's supposed to be common. Postpartum Hypothyroidism - my Mum has the 'proper' version so apparently I'm more at risk. Off to the Dr's later in the week to get tested etc.

Morning ladies! Gosh I can't remember who asked what so I'm just going to answer them randomly lol. We havn't started weaning yet. He was fine on the baby rice but when I gave him a little bit of fruit he was really sick after his next bottle so we stopped. He is 19 weeks tomorrow so may start later this week. Was planning on starting today but have changed my mind cos I have work again tomorrow so would rather be able to devote a couple of days to it before having to turn it over to my mum. But will be taking it slowly cos of his milk allergy.

Well he is much better now. Got over his not feeling well although he is sneezing alot so think he is getting a cold gah! Absolutely hated this weekend. I put him to bed at 8pm Friday and then didn't see him again til 10pm last night when he was asleep so it was brilliant getting him up this morning and him just grinning at me. Then when he was on my lap playing with the penguins on my pjs...don't ask lol...he kept looking up to make sure I was there, grinning and then going back to playing! He was naughty for my parents over the weekend lol. Waking up at 7.30am, taking his bottle and going back to sleep til 10 lol. And of course mum was then wide awake so couldn't go back to sleep. But he had a trip to the park with nanny and grandad on Saturday. He stayed awake for a whole hour and a half after his feed this morning and has now fallen asleep so once I finish replying I am going to try to go back to sleep lol. The poor body didn't appreciate getting up at 7.15am again this morning.

Oh and I HATE my post baby body. My hips are a good inch or so wider so I can't get into my size 10 jeans anymore. Even when I'm not bloated If I put them on it puts too much pressure on the front of my hips which feels really strange and uncomfortable. But the annoying thing is that my size 12's are too big so I spend all day pulling the damn things up!

We havn't been swimming yet. I am waiting til pay day to get him one of those swim ring things and then need to source a good swim nappy. Think I will get a pack of Huggies Little Swimmers until I find out whether he is actually going to like it! Think he will though cos I have found that if I run only a shallow bath he likes to lay in the bottom and splash about hehe.

all booked in for Earl's second set of jabs (waaaaaaaaay behind on them. 17 weeks and only just having his 2nd lot! :dohh:)

Ah, me old mate Aimee - Monty is also only just about to have his second jabs. Well I expect you guessed that didn't you? LOL Are they this week?

Woah, that's a vast bill :-( Are you sure it's not an estimate? You gotta be losing gas there somewhere if it really is that much. Unless is your tumble dryer gas?

A rubbish boiler and poor insulation, OH worked out the kwh used and the boiler is past its best. Its only a let property but we are insulating the loft to save some money. The energy usage info we were given for the house is way out. Means we need to be really careful as without my wage we cant afford such bills. They are on actual readings too :(

So this weekend we did our first long journey and had our first weekend away. TBH I was soooo dreading it. When Mum phoned to say it was snowing pretty heavily, I almost hoped we had an excuse not to go. But we did go anyway ... and it was absolutely brilliant. Monty slept the entire three-hour journey south, slept really well for both nights at Mum's, and was the happiest baby on the street at three different houses over the weekend, all in different villages and interspersed with pram rides, car rides and everything else. I can't believe I was so worried about travelling with him. Now I can't wait to do it all over again. The funny thing is, he slept great at Mum's and then last night, back in own our cottage, he woke first at 10pm, then at 2.30am and then at 5.40am. Unfortunately this last time he was ready to face the day, so we had a VERY early start! However, he has picked up my cold and he is really snotty. He's had a little cold before, but this is a proper one with runny nose and bunged up chest. He sounds really rough, poor sweetheart, but actually he was all smiles again this morning before he went back to bed for his nap.

Just not sure re having his jabs this week. Am I right in thinking they don't give them if baby is unwell? Also, we are due to start swimming lessons at the weekend - is it OK to do that I wonder?

Morning all,

Aimee ~ Have a good day, looking forward to the pics :D

LK ~ Awh sounds so nice that James was all smiles again and checking you are there. Thats my worst worry, that Chloe will fall out with me! Daft maybe?!? You give me some reassurance :flower:

Colsy ~ Chloe had the snuffles once and they still gave her the jabs. Your probably best off calling ahead and double checking. I asked my HV and she still wanted me to bring her down.

Kaites ~ Enjoy todays swimming, hope Emma enjoys it too.

Maffie ~ Thats sucks about the bill, is there no way you can complain? Cheeky buggers saying its more efficient than it is!

Flora ~ Ah, I will have to hunt the 4 month ones down, there was only 1 box left in the pharmacy. The elephant chew teddy sounds perfect. I saw a little boy in the weaning class with one and didn't realise, it was so funny watching him munch away on it! Chloe can't use the gummy teether things either, she also thinks its a dummy.

Chloe is playing with her bouncer car, its so cute watching her turn the wheel and stare at the buttons. She hits them sometimes. Think she is a right hander, she practically does everything with that hand. She can do stuff with her left but a lot of the time she just has it by her side.

Well, my last full week until August  I'm off to play with the little goo :happydance:

Hey ladies,

Sorry I don't post here much, don't really get the time with Grace running around etc...I do lurk and read your posts, just never get the time to post really , will try make more of an effort :)

Anyway just needed to ask if any of your LOs have done this?
Theo was taking 6-7oz bottles up untill a few weeks ago, now we are lucky if he will take 4-5oz, surely this isn't right for a 4 month old baby? he really messes and fusses with his bottles, he will have 3oz then refuse anymore, I offer more after about 30-40 mins and he will drink another oz or 2....hes putting on weight nicely (weighs 15lb 7oz at 17 wks so not worried!) but hes not sleeping at night much and is still waking 3 times a night for feeds (like 2-3oz then back to sleep!) :coffee: .

At first I thought it was teeth, but hes generally still happy and his symptoms like drooling etc have now stopped....

Any ideas/tips?

Hi everyone, cant believe i have only just found the bumpkins group again!!! Hope everyone is getting on well with their lo's :)

Glad your trip away was successful colsy - were not brave enough to try it yet!

Mellie - its funny you say that cos Jackis just starting to do the same, he sleeps through the night ok tho. He is just not that fussed about his bottles now, im wondering f he's ready for food but they say wait til 26 weeks dont they and thats 6 weeks away for us.

xx

Oh well 6th try... Didn't work ... Hope you're all well

Afternoon all,

Eswift, hope you haven't thrown the computer out the window in frustration :flower: ITs done that to me before now, so frustrating.

 h702 Welcome back!

Lol MAffie & LK I was thinking the same! I was trying to figure it out. My Sis (although its still a secret to the rest of the family) is now expecting. Its looking like Chloe's cousin could be a 2010 Bumpkin possibly but her doc said her LO is 8 weeks, my Sis last AF was 24 December . . . so I'm confused as I thought they worked it out so many days / weeks after the last AF not directly from it. All so hazy now  I'm trying to offer her support and advice without coming across as a know-it-all. I have tried tried tried to get her on here but to no avail. When I go up there I will sit her down and force her! I gave her a load of my old mags and she wanted to start doing exercises to help labour pains that was in the mags :dohh:, I told her to sit her ass down and relax until second tri!!!

I just had my smear, not something I would have thought I would normally share but I was bricking it. I have never had one (very naughty me). I had heard they hurt, thankfully mine didn't. I did say I felt odd, like I needed to reach out for my gas and air, not because it hurt but just because I was in a medical room with my pants off again, it felt weird, brought back random memories!

Fish and Chips for tea tonight :happydance: I can't wait, I have had no lunch today. Hmm Chloe is due a feed at 5 tho, typical food clash again! Chloe certainly hasn't droped / cut down her feeds. In the day she is now every 2 hours thankfully (touch wood) her night feeds have remained. She not draining her bottles but a growth spurt is due, she is getting her tell tail 'creases' bless

It just took us (taking it in turns!) two and a half hours to get Monty to stop fighting it and take a nap. Wonder why this happens sometimes? He was sooooooooooooo knackered but he just wouldn't sleep. He screamed for almost the entire two and a half hours, and when he wasn't screaming he was crying or sniffing. Feel quite relieved he is asleep now as my ears were starting to vibrate LOL. Presume other people also take this long to get their babies to sleep sometimes?
