LK- hope James is feeling better :hugs:

Flora- the first pic is so cute! He looks like he's getting ready for some mischief :) We have a reuseable swim nappy that I got on sale for about $10 (pretty much the same cost as a pack of lil swimmers)- hopefully it'll hold in any runny messes. Just noticed your new avatar pic- gorgeous!

Aimee- I'm jealous you've got an aquarium close by! Emma loves fish tanks too. I bet you'll have fun watching Earl's reaction to the fish :)

Kte- from your posts, it sounds like the perfect time to unwind and treat yourself to the aromatherapy massage :hugs:

Well, lil miss is making growling noises on the boob- maybe she's trying to tell me to get off the computer :) Hope you all have a good weekend!

LK - Keep a close eye on James! If he's still not well tomorrow, take him to see a dr! I hope he's better soon.

Florabean - i'm sure you look stunning anyway, enjoy treating yourself...

Kte - i hope you start feeling better soon. Shame you can't get to your sister's even for a couple of days

Cc and i went to the weaning group today, there was just us there. We're failing drastically to meet anyone. Lol.

Might not be about much laptop has ended up with a virus, vista security 2010 just keep your eye open for it. OH gonna have a go at taking it off tonight. Take care all, have phone will just pop in.

Poor James is running a fever. He has been having calpol and nurofen and is in just a tshirt and still feels hot. He had nurofen at 12 and calpol at 1 so he isn't really due any just yet but think I may have to give him some. What do you think girls?

Earl was like this when he had his last jabs. I put him into a vest, damp muslin draped over his legs. I give him a half dose of medecine every 4 hours, rather than waiting the 6 for the full dose. This keeps him at a better level (it's what I do as I'm mildly intolerant of paracetamol so I have to limit it). I also gave Earl a couple of doses of water to make sure he stayed hydrated.

Poor James :hugs: I hope he feels better in the morning.

Well he really didn't go down to bed well. He drained 7oz of milk and looked sleepy so put him up to bed in just a babygro (he normally has a vest, babygro and sleepsuit which is like a dressing gown made like a babygro lol). And almost instantly he started screaming! Went up and gave him bonjela, nada, cuddled him in and he calmed down but then as soon as I put him down he started screaming again. So gave in and brought him down and gave him a half dose of calpol, snuggled him in and he eventually went to sleep after about 15 minutes of patting him bum. Now sound asleep so hoping thats how he stays.

This weekend is going to be horrid. I have to work tomorrow and Sunday so I will be leaving at 5am tomorrow and then staying at the flat in Aylesbury for the night and getting home around 10pm Sunday :( The thought of being away from James for that long makes me want to cry!!

Just to let you know we had to go visit BIL to get the virus thing off, apparently it MALWARE. Took a while but I'm back with protection!?!? LOL Shounds corny (kinda like sex in a bus shelter...)

Hope the LO having bad reactions to the jabs, recover and are back causing mischief soon...

LK - I hope James had a better night. And I hope your weekend at work goes ok. :hugs: It will fly by. :flower:

Kaites - Not to rub it in but we actually have 2. We have the Sea Life centre at Scarborough (which has one of those underwater tunnel things) and we also have 'The Deep' which is 'The UK's only Submarium' lol. It's a massive aquarium that is basically one big tank with a spiral walkway all around it so you can walk from bottom to top. It has a coral reef and everything.

Well Earl was up at 4.15 this morning but his dummy sent him back to sleep without fuss, and then he managed to go until 6! Much better! I can cope with that lol. Today is the day to start with solids. It seems he's still needing that top-up of 2-3oz at 5.30 - tried to get him to go without and while he's ok while he's in the bath, he squeals soooooo much when he's on his mat because he's tired and hungry. So, we're going to give him some rice tonight at 5ish to see if that will help. Hopefully, it will make him more satisfied (considering he's up to 8oz a feed in the afternoon he should easily be able to go 3 hours but he just can't do it lol - he normally has a feed about 4, then his bedtime bottle is about 6.45).

I hope we're ok today ladies.....I'm so excited. Hubby has 4 days off. He finishes today at 2ish and doesn't go back to work until Thursday!! :happydance: Best be off....munchkin will be needing his first nap of the day soon and I want a cuppa and some cornflakes first lol.....may get a full bowl to myself this morning :dohh: lol

Morning all, well Noah didnt take a full feed last night. I normally do a bottle of EBM at 9-10pm but did boobs. He only took one side so had a feeling he'd be up in the night. He woke a few times whining which I think is is teething but at 3.50 he wanted a feed, only went down then till 5.30am so by 6 we were having baby rice and a bottle and he seems satisfied and having a nap.

OH wasn't home last night is eldest was taken into hospital so he went straight there, poor little mite. Just waiting to hear how their night went. OH has a 40 mile ride home too from the hospital. (cycles everywhere)

I was curious when everyone gives food how much do you give of say baby rice or jarred food?

Urgh, just poking my head in, no time to catch up proper.

Autumn woke up with her first ever cold yesterday she shes all snotty and ikky. Aint affected that appetite tho haha. Between that, consignment sales, baby showers FILs Birthdays and friends leaving to live in California, my arse aint gonna touch the sofa until Monday haha.

Anyways, I hope you all have a FAB weekend!!!! :flower:

Maffie ~ If it helps I started with the portion as it say's on the powdered solid packet, and as far as jar's are concerned, CC only eating 1/3 of them in one sitting; tried her on one of the fruit pot things and she ate 1/2 of it. I always work on the if there's too much she doesn't have to eat it, if there's not enough you have to make some more. If CC eat's the entire portion I will top her up with a yoghurt or fruit... She does tend to eat more veg we've done than the jarred food. Not sure why, just an observation... Hope OH eldest is ok...

Aimee ~ Hope the taster session goes well... CC kicked off this afternoon letting OH she was wanting feeding... He was like "What's all this for?" I said she's hungry... LOL made the solids up OH fed her, he commented afterwards "She's eaten the lot! What's for pudding? She let's you know she's hungry doesn't she?" LOL

Florabean ~ If Harry's not ready don't start! Don't feel as though you've to do it just because everyone else is, each and every baby developes at a different rate... You'll know when he's ready they give you enough signs, chewing hand/toys, avidly watching you eat (so much so they'll be taking each and every bite with you) Demanding more and more feeds... Don't rush it, if he's quite happy just bfing leave him...

Well, this morning we were up and feeding CC by 8am, at the market for 9 ish; came home blitzed the house ready for Reverend coming. Had lunch, I looked at the time card; only to see She's not coming until next week... LMAO My house is spotless!?!? Oh well... Have to do it all again next Saturday!!! ROFL

Have a great day all...

Flora - what eswift says. I wanted to wait longer with Earl but he has been showing all the signs for a week or so and the evenings were starting to be an issue (having to give him more and more food to make him happy, and him still taking at least 6oz before bed!!) It was upsetting all of us. Just the small amount he had tonight followed by 2oz of milk made him a much happier and calmer bunny and he literally passed out at bed time....I went up to check on him about 30 mins after he went down and he hadn't moved from where I'd put him lol.

The taster session went very well thank you eswift. Earl has taken straight to it....not a bit of tongue thrust left and was even taking full mouthfuls by the end. Piccy attached. We just tried a bit of baby rice tonight and he ended up eating at least 1tsp I think which I gather is good for a first attempt. I'm just following the HIPP guide for amounts etc, which says he should have had 'the tip of a weaning spoon', but if he wants more, then I'm sure it wont be an issue. Going to have a bash at making some purees tomorrow - carrots and potatoes, yummers!

Hubby made me a scrummy proper carbonara tonight. Eggs, panchetta and pecorino cheese, and it was gorgeous. My exact words were 'My only criticism is that there isn't any more!' lol..... ended up having a second helping of pancakes to make up for it.

Apologies for any typo's - I've had half a glass of wine so may be a bit squiffy lol :wine:

Anyhoo's last disc of stargate to watch before bed so I'll be off. Have a lovely sunday ladies xx

Night all?!? lol

Taken Chloe ages to get to sleep today, she been napping loads so I thought it might be a bit difficult. She been asleep 20 mins now so think she is down for the night, just making sure before we take her upstairs. Nij and I have matchsticks in our eyes! Couple of part-timers!

Flora ~ I'm not weaning Chloe yet, she shows no signs, she is quite happy as she is at the mo. I will just keep and eye on her with a view to start at 6 months is she doesn't show any earlier signs.

Eswift ~ :dohh: Ah well, at least you didn't think it was next weekend and she showed up today!! Shame there was no one else at the weaning group, did you manage to get any freebies?!

Aimee ~ Glad Earl's much happier now food wise and the taster session went well :D

Nij made a really yummy Chicken 'sunday roast' efforgy today. Home made yorkshires as well and they actually rose! Tasty veg and mashed potatoes. I love it when it's the weekend and he cooks :D Trouble is it sends the cats banana's bless them lol.

Right, bed time me thinks, I only hope since Chloe went to bed so late we get some kind of lie in!

Maffie - We're doing basically the same thing. I have the HIPP guide which looks awfully rushed and has them on 3 meals a day after 4 weeks! I've decided to start introducing finger foods in 6 weeks (he seems a lot more interested in playing with the food himself than which is totally normal lol) so I'm keen to sort of use the spoon etc as a stop gap. Going to just stick to 1 meal for the next 4 weeks or so, and then go from there. Bit unorthodox but hey, Earl's a child of mine and I'm hardly normal! lol

Oh....and.....while it wasn't a completely settled nights sleep we did well. Earl woke at 4 for his dummy, at 5 and wouldn't settle so I fed him. He had 6oz, fell asleep on the bottle, I popped him back down and didn't hear a peep until 7.30!!!!!! :happydance: Much better. I have a feeling that the solids were just what he needed for now to allow him to just take his milk as normal and feel 'satisfied' which is what it's all about.

Anyhoo.....must be off. hubby is runnin a bath so I've got to grab Earl's bumbo to put in the bathroom as, as he's been up since 7.30, he's not going for a nap anytime soon lol :dohh:

Have a nice day ladies xx

Morning all,

Well Chloe didn't wake for a feed until 4.45. We managed to sleep in to 8.30 which was a bonus! She is down for a nap now, just hope she settles a bit earlier tonight!

I realised last night that I fluffed my chance to stay off any longer. I can't cram in my hours or change my contract to part time because I have used up all my holidays to extend my MAT leave. Normally we get holidays from April to March but for some odd reason they changed it last year to sync with the academic year so we got a boat load of holidays to last from March to August (new hol year from September). So basically I figured if I went part time I would owe them some of the holidays I have taken because the days I have been given as based on my full time contract. . . wish I had figured it all out a little earlier but hey ho what's done is done.

Lots of snow here today!

Harry chews at his hands a lot, but as yet is showing very little interest in food or food implements, other than my Tigger mug, which he like to try & swipe out of my hand, lol. We're gonna try & follow the BLW @ 6mths, and see how that goes. I did put a little bit of yogurt on his lip to see what he'd do & he was clueless, so I'm thinking he's not quite ready yet, lol.
Have any of you tried Bickiepegs for teething? I bgave Harry one & OMG, I have never seen him gnaw so much in my life & he was gripping it so tight he had white knuckles & was soaking wet with spit down to his bellybutton!!!!! He seems to really dislike Bonjela & looks really confused when I use teething powder, so I'm thinking these bickiepegs are the way forward for us. Plus, with the fact he has to use his hand-eye co-ordination & all that jazz, I reckon it's good prep for self feeding with blw too.

Q: have any of you offered any other drinks yet? (aside from milks or water) If not, what & when do you plan on doing so? I tried some of my nephew's baby apple juice & was really shocked at how sweet it was... i always kinda figured it'd be really watery & tasteless!

Anways. have you all had a good weekend? I've been megalazy. Was meant to go swimming today, but harry was sleeping & I was knackered so I just couldnt be bothered. We ended up laying in till gone 11am! How lazy is that???!!! Now I have the rest of the day to do boring old housework & pick up after my OH who seems to have forgotten where the wash basket is & the amazingness of washing up! :dohh:

anyways, better go as lil man is grizzling on his playmat. Overstimulated today as the living room is now like a freaking toy store with all his things!

eeek the forum ate my post!!!

Loads of snow here but its melting now, I have one very grizzly and upset baby today :( not sure whats up

He's just nodded off in his swing (30 mins before his normal dinner time ) Thankfully has meant the madras as been eaten in peace.

Hi Ladies!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend :) Not much going on here either- had my family over last night for dinner so today I'm just vegging out. I finally tried on my swimsuit today since I have to be seen in public with it tomorrow- it fits but I'm definitely not in love with my post-baby body. My pelvis seems to stick out more- frustrating since it isn't something that can be changed by exercise or diet :(

Chaos- hope Autumn is feeling better!

Eswift- Could be worse- you get to enjoy a clean house :)

Flora- we're not weaning yet either- trying to hold off until the 6mth mark as best we can. I checked out the baby cereal aisle yesterday when grocery shopping and I'm going to need a month to decide what to buy- too much choice! :haha: I also got a bit scared off when I was reading the ingredients list. I know it's not going to just say "rice" but I felt like I needed to research which brand is best (god, I think I'm turning into one of those overcautious mums ). Emma has added a 3am feed (used to sleep from 10pm- 5am, then go back to sleep for a while longer) but I'm not too sleep deprived so I'm just going with the flow and enjoying the nighttime snuggles. I don't think we are going to do juices- from everything I've read, sounds like they can lead to tooth decay. Eating the actual fruit is always better for them anyway

Aimee- How did Earl like the aquarium? DH has taken Emma to the fish store this aft- closest thing we've got to an aquarium around here, lol. Hubby spends as much time on his nano-reef forum as I do on BnB :haha: That's cool that Earl took to solids right away.

Kte- sorry to hear you weren't able to drop to part time :hugs:

Maffie- all our snow is melting too. Hope Noah is doing better!

Time for a bite to eat before Emma and DH get home- have a good evening!

Flora - I think I may have to be getting me some of those! lol

Earl was pretty good today, apart from he is seriously fighting his naps. He must have slept for all of an hour through today, and was really adamant about not having any more. He will now also only sleep on the sofa next to one of us. A bit better than having to sleep ON one of us but a little inconvenient when we only have 1 sofa and he takes up half of it! lol He passed out again tonight though.....and enjoyed his baby rice again tonight, was slurping it off the spoon lol.

Here's a photo from todays snow.

Good night ladies
