How many of you give up caffeine during the 2ww? I looooove coffee in the morning, and have resisted giving it up. But now I'm becoming paranoid that it's keeping me from getting a BFP! Any ladies out there keep drinking coffee and go on to get a BFP? Or should I switch to decaf tea and resign myself to sleeping on my desk?

i do not have a bfp...but i'm NOT giving up my coffee lol i am 99 percent sure that it does NOT effect implantation or fertilization or conception or any of that...i also read that if the male drinks a caffienated beverage up to an hour before bding it can help the male sperm to swim better...

From all I've read online it says to cut back on caffeine- but one cup a day shouldn't hurt.

Now I do have higher FSH levels- so I would do just about anything to help, if anything would actually work. LOL. But I've read that caffeine can hurt your egg quality- in larger doses though. So again, I wouldn't think a little each day would hurt. I did cut back to one cup of green tea daily- but it's just NOT the same as coffee! lol. From time to time though I do indulge in a tall white mocha from starbucks... ;)

There are SO SO many factors- you just have to do what feels right for you.

Best of luck hun!

I cut down from 4 or 5 cups of green tea to one or two during the 2ww. Who knows if it really matters or not. Does anyone watch Grey's Anatomy? Last week a character that is pregnant was in a big fight with her partner over whether or not she could drink coffee. It was funny. :)

Thanks, SaraB! I also find all of the sources for how bad caffeine is to be suspicious. I actually do public health research and have read many studies on the subject...basically all of the studies are inconclusive. But it still makes me a little paranoid...lol.

I currently have 2 very large cups of coffee that I sip throughout the morning/early afternoon...perhaps I should reduce it a little bit. *sigh*

This actually was prompted by Grey's Anatomy last week!! LOL. That pretty much sums up how I feel on the subject...I'm a person, too, and get three votes. LOL.

Hi ladies, just wanted to add my experience. My husband and I have been TTC since 2009. One night, in desperation of trying to find something to help me, I read an article that said that caffeine intake can 1/2 some women's ability to become pregnant because of the fact that it is a vasoconstrictor, much like cigarettes. So, I gave up the 1-2+ cups of coffee I have had every day for years, cut it cold turkey. I began this while I was on my period, and that very cycle I got pregnant. This was in September of 2010, exactly 13 months after we began TTC. It ended in miscarriage, but since then I've not had coffee except during my period or if I know we missed the conception window. It could very well have been a coincidence, but I'd not like to risk it if not. I can do with decaf.

I just got a BFP, & did not give up my coffee!! lol
But I did reduce down to a small 2 cup limit, & just switched to a half caff.

Caffiene can't really be that bad... I don't really drink tea/coffee, but I do drink coke quite a bit.

Anyway, my mums best friend's daughter drank energy drinks all the way throughher pregnancy with her little girl and she's 9 months old now and healthy.

Now imnot saying that drinking energy drinks during pregnancy is the way to go, but I just meant the caffiene can't be that bad.

Happy coffee drinking :)

XxX
