Oooh another q,
how do you get your models so smotth without any cracks?
I always have at least one crack..and its so much worse when i colour them myself but to buy all of the diff colours seperatly for some models would cost a fortune!
Tips? xxxx

kris, when rolling th ball between your hands, press down as hard as the ball will let u and keep rolling really tightly till they disappear.
if that doesnt work, your fondant is probably too dry and you can try rolling it with a slight little bit of trex on your hands.......it will make the ball shiny though.
xx

trex is veg fat.
u can get it from tescos and asda.....it will be close to the butter somewhere ;) xx

Lovely cupcakes as ever, the Lily ones! THe farm cake is wicked! Ohh and round here you would not get a 2 tier for £46 !

Ok a quicky from me.

How much would you expect to pay for the following:

10 inch cake dummy
7 inch cake dummy
2kg regalice
12 inch drum cake board

Reason I ask is I have been using a new cake shop that is closer to home. But I went for my second time buying from there and the first time I thought it was expensive but put it down to me not knowning how much the things actually were I was buying.

Help would be greatly appreciated  xx

My local cake shop is more expensive then the internet so I tend to buy from the net. Stuff like regular coloured fondant I pay about £2.46 for 500g, so x's that by 4.

My cake dummies I get from here https://myworld.ebay.co.uk/devon-polystyrene-services-ltd/ it works out cheaper if you buy a few.

Hope this helps kel:flower:

Thanks hun so would probably be around £15. I got charged £22! Scandelous really! Definately won't he going anymore. Will just order off the net and pay postage xx

wow do you

I buy my fondant from the cake shop in town as it usually costs more off the net once youve added p&p on...ive only ever bought unusual colours off the net.

Girls, where can I get some smaller alphabet cutters from? I'm not clever with the old piping but my clikstix and tappits are too big for blocks etc....

I've made a cake
I thought I would have a bit of a practise as I have decided to make an England flag one for next weekend, should be easy enough really but I have never really covered a cake before so though I would have a mess about on a small cake

I don't have any small cake tins so I used a sweetcorn tin
I don't think it is too bad as I don't have a smoother or anything so just blagged it, also my white was a left over so think it had dried a bit I had to do 2 layers.

A few questions:

1) How long will a cake usually last for?
2) When i was doing the icing piping thingy, the consistency wasnt very thick so it wouldnt go how i wanted, do I just add more icing sugar?

Thank you xx
