does any one use one of these, cake leveler?
https://www.craftcompany.co.uk/acatalog/copy_of_Cake_leveler.html

I have got a similar one, at first it was a pain in the arse as I thought the wire was like a perferated edge but its not, its more like a cheese wire! Dunno if they're all like that but after a few go's its not so bad.

I find it best to cut from a corner and have the cake butted up against something to stop it sliding. And cut like a saw rather than drag but thats how I prefer not sure if thats the correct way but it works for me! :D

Better than trying to cut with a knife!

Oh and as for baking cupcakes today :( No happen! Just had one of those days where ive not stopped but not got anywhere!! Argh!!

And had a minor ant-in-the-kitchen situation which is now resolved *shiver*

Tomorrow I WILL bake cakes!! :)

i have that cake leveler....at first i thought it was crap...it does the job but its started getting abit slack now....maybe time for a new one!!

the cake will be ok made thursday for saturday, but id make the cupcakes as close to saturday as u can.

boothh, i get rice dream now instead of soya milk...u ever tried that in tea?

gemgti, I use mine the same way Cassandra does, starting from a corner and having the cake against something! Mine does have a jaggedy (is that a word?!?) edge though.

braindead is a classic film! haha!

i bought a cake leveller and its been the drawer since, i found it more hassle than it was worth!

I do it freehand now :) x

isnt it andrea....its an ace film!! LMAO

booth, i prefer rice dream over soya milk any day!! but i havent tried either of them in tea yet...too scared of it curdling LOL

am i strange for putting cows milk in my tea  ive never thought of trying different milks my nephew has soymilk and apparently its nasty stuff...

Can anyone recommend a cheap place to buy food colouring? :flower:

Normal food colouring as in the liquid stuff? I normally get from Asda, not that expensive imo!?

Kimbob> Cows milk in tea is pretty normal :flower: most people do this hun x

I bought some decorations from an ebay shop before. The colouring was £3.50 + £1.50 postage. It sounded expensive to me, am I a cheapskate? :D

And, probably a stupid question but do I just search "food colouring"? Is there another name that'll bring up better results?

OK .. so this is my proper 1st attempt on cupcakes.

i baked them in a new deep muffin tray so theyre round now! YAY!
and I put the betty Crocker icing in the fridge.. but still has sunk and drooped a little must be this weather. I will try again tomorrow but I'll add extra icing sugar. Hope it wont make it taste powdery!

I not 100% happy with them.. but ok I spose for first proper attempt. dont think I could deliver them to Mylos christening! lol
(albeit not pink flowers obviously! lol)

Got giant cupcake mould I am gonna have a crack at tomorrow.
I think I need to grease it even though its silicone?
every silicone mould I have ever used the cake NEVER just 'pops out' like it does in the advert!

Cassandra - I mean different colours like purple and orange. Only seen basic colours in Asda etc
