those ones hadn't been whitened, was just buttercream. I used more than double icing sugar and just beat the crap outta it. I think the camera flash helped too ;)
Can someone please explain to me how the whole freezing or refridgerating a cake so it's easier to carve works! Xx

Wallie, they are lovely, how do you get your chocolate buttercream so dark and shiny? Mine always looks horrible. lol

Try my recipe and see how it works for you:

175g dark chocolate (good quality 70% cocoa solids)
225g of unsalted butter at room temperature
1 teaspoon semiskimmed milk at room temperature
1 teaspoon of good quality vanilla extract
250g icing sugar, sifted

I used the popular Winton 1M nozzle too.

Hope that helps!

Anyone know of a suitable cake for a diabetic? x

I searched online for this cos my dad is a diabetic. I found this

https://www.azcakerecipes.com/diabetic_sponge_cake_recipe-910.htm

Dunno what it would taste like with fruit juice in it.

Okay me again sorry  have any of you ever made a cake shaped like a closed book? It'll be my first novelty cake and i'm nervous about messing it up xx

I think Cassandra has done a closed book cake. Does she still post in this thread? xx

Hmmm yummy cuppies!!!!

I'm making a golf themed birthday cake today. Luckily I'm putting a bunker of the top of it as I was a dimwit and opened the oven too early (thought I'd got away with it) and it's sunk in the middle!:dohh:

So I'm off to the cake shop to pick up some fondant.

Hope your whitener comes in time Laura!
