I thought this thread had gone quiet, until I realised I'd accidentally unsubscribed
I made some cupcakes for MIL and SIL (belated bday). They were vanilla, orange and lemon flavours. One is missing - I had to try the sponge because they shrunk soooo much when I took them out of the oven, I was afraid they weren't cooked (they were). Anyone know why that happens? I'm thinking maybe too much liquid (about 2tbsp of milk and then a tbsp of lemon/orange juice)
I ran out of butter for the buttercream, so used half butter and half trex - still tasted delicious! I'll be doing that from now on as it's cheaper and makes it less yellow.
Aww they're beautiful hun! They use white veg fat a lot in America for buttercream.
I'm completely knackered. Just finished 18 cupcakes and a 9", 6" stacked cake. I'm happy with the cuppies but hate the cake. So much so that I nearly binned it. However it's Amelia's 2nd birthday tomorrow and her party is at 12 so no choice but to just get on with it.

Whoppy - happy birthday to Amelia! I hope you managed to get everything finished, I'd be pulling my hair out! I'm sure it will all be fine, let us know how it goes x
Where do you buy your ready to roll icing girls. and what brand is it? Don't have a local cake store, and asda only sell white...
How much to cover (decent thickness as i always rip it!) an 8inch cake and a 6 inch both round cakes? Websites giving me different quantities and confusing me!!
Finished a christening cake last night. My first one stacked....I had a total night mare with it, from start to finish!!!
First I burnt the cake, not just a bit on the edge, totally singed it. So I scrapped that and had to bake another, then my oven has this stupid thing it does only on square cakes where it makes the cake rise higher on one side so I had to open door in hope my cake wouldnt sink and turn it round...luckily it wasnt too bad.
My sugar work was just shocking and my covering was the worst i've ever done
PAh! Anyways glad its over with tbh, didnt go bed until half 1 and up again at 7am still doing the cake! lol
Here are Amelia's cakes from her 2nd birthday today. I can't believe I have a 2 year old!!!!!

Whoppy - you did an excellent job!! Are the sheep modelled on Timmy? lol Your modelling is amazing, I bet Amelia loved it.
Cassandra - your cake is fab too! I can't see any mistakes at all. And I agree, the blocks are so uniform, mine would end up looking like blobs!
I spent a couple of hours this evening making the blossoms for my Mum's birthday cake for next week. Over 200 of the bloody things. At least they've easy to do!
