I see the rainbow cupcakes on UK cake appreciation, they are so cool ladies!

Where can I find this UK cake appreciation? Sounds intruiging. I got the idea from Flickr xx

Here you go my love https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cake...-UK-Cake-Appreciation-Society/220810754609701 Enjoy xx

100 large gerbera's, 100 small gerbera's and 100 small pink flowers, a chewed up pair of brand new clarks shoes from my dog and a huge argument with OH later and I am ready for my bed! Im knackered.

Hope tomorrow is better :haha:

A quick question ladies. Do you have lots of competetion in your area for cakes and cupcakes?

In my surrounding area I have 5 cake shops that I know of...also have about 4-5 people who work from home. But when I say surrounding area within a 10 mile radius xx

Glitterfairy > Did you do them last night? How did you get on?? xx

Since I started doing them I have had 3 people start too and one happens to be the girl who goes to SW and Zumba with me. Lol. Now there is a girl from school, she makes all types of cakes.

Anyway on another note, I am trying to make truffles today. Cant wait cos tonight I am gonna sit and watch a film with the whole box of them lol.

I think when I start up properly, I want to offer more than just cakes iykwim. And be competitive.

I think you'll always get business, unless you have them living on your door step it might be a bit harder. I suppose thats why customer service is important and your skill :)

I have a 2 friends from school who make cakes but I'm not worried as I know I'm better :haha:

It is a very popular business, I think a lot of people see it as "Expensive cakes must mean good profit" I dont think they realise how expensive it can be to make!

Stay positive hun and dont worry about other people, just keep an eye on them for skill & prices, im sure you'll be fine xx

On another note...

I'm making cupcakes with my niece on Monday. Not an order, kinda training her up hee hee, she said she wants to make cakes like her Aunty Cassie AWWWW!

I'm gonna have a go at Cake Pops also, first time, so we'll see what mess I get into!

Cakes wise, I have 2 cakes to make for 26th...Not too bad, pretty simple.

I have a wedding cake to make for 3rd Sep, which i'm not too worried about, only she wants me to make the 'bride & groom' cake toppper, proper 'Barbie & Ken' style!! She's dolly-dimple also so its got to be all 'bling' etc...kinda worried about that!!

Heres a few I've made in past couple of months, not posted any for a while:

I see those cakes on FB. They are gorgeous hun.

I have my SIL wedding cakes to make in just 12 days! She gets married on 25th. I am excited, I do hope that the weather stays a bit cooler though. Knowing my luck be boiling hot.

Hello everyone!

Urgh last night OH managed to knock right into me while I was piping roses onto some cupcakes, it wasn't a nudge but I full blown contact almost throwing me to the floor and destroying the piping on about 6 Cuppies! Needless to say I went mental, and then had to scrape all the icing off in tears... At this point it was about 11 pm and I just slopped the icing on top and sprinkled on some glitter sugar, not my finest moment.

I made some biscuits yesterday too - plain ones came out okay, pink ones too - the "violet" ones not so much - they look like clay :-( oops!

Attempting cake pops today... That'll be the third disaster I'm guessing :p

Hi,

I need some help please. I would like to make a cake with an icing like for example on a carrot cake, i.e. not hard icing, but soft consistency icing-like substance.

Basically I do not want it to dry hard, I want it to stay sort of soft. What am I looking for? Does anyone have a recipe?

Thanks.
:cake:

These are vanilla and blackberry cupcakes with a whole blackberry in each, topped with blackberry marshmallow fondant (how sticky?!!) and various toppings.

I wanted the fondant to be black but I only had liquid colouring, any suggestions for good colouring??

I have another question: What do you think is better? A non-stick metal cake tin or silicone one?

ooooooh I've been wanting to join this thread for ages!! lol

Well here I am!!! As its Ellie's 1st Birthday on Tuesday, I really wanted to make my own cake for her! off I went and got my cutters and everything else and created this:

https://hphotos-ash4.fbcdn.net/288374_10150751969875494_542395493_20281680_1538415_o.jpg

by no means is it perfect lol.. but it was my first and I am pretty pleased with it! plus the butterflies are been reused to make Birthday cupcakes for people who brought presents!

Hi Ladies, lovely cakes everyone!

Piperette, buttercream is what you want. Whatever amount of butter you use double it with icing sugar and add some vanilla flavouring or vanilla extract.
I prefer non stick tins to silicone but then others prefer silicone. Its really about what your best with so sometimes its buy to try.

Emmy1987, use colour like Sugarflair or Americolor. The normal ones in the supermarkets just make your icing go all gooey and soft. Its no good for the icing your wanting, and to be fair you can only really get black if you use tons of it, sometimes if your wanting black or red its better to buy it already coloured.

Babz, great first attempt, I havent made a cake yet but I would love to if I ever get some time to do one!

I had to make another 12 toppers for my SIL wedding as my mum insisted I move them into a box and I broke 15 of them! Stressed was not the word. So I am glad I did cos I will some extra spare as I broke so many.

I have some cupcakes to do for my pa this week as its his birthday and some for a friend. I feel like I havent done any in a while even though I made some last weekend. :haha:

Have you made anything nice this weekend? x

I tried "painting" a cake tonight....didn't go very well though :(
