Food hygeine, get your kitchen approved with environmental health, register as self emp and get insurance. That's about it. You can do your food hygeine online xx
Yes because your taking money. Its classed as a business because your selling something. Its not in the same category as a car boot sale.
I've just been made redundant! Nice! So going to see if I can get a job at one of the local bakeries to me. They are independant not Greggs lol. So I hope I can
Not for profit but just for fun, I promised I would bake for christmas this year so thought I'd start practicing now so that's the diet out of the window
Any advice or typical rookie errors I should know about?
So do i have to do all that food hygiene/self employed/ kitchen inspected no matter what i earn/make? what if i just carried on doing cakes for family and friends without proper advertising...is that allowed?
If your taking money then no its illegal as your are 'selling' them something so its classed as a business
My nephew finally arrived after being 10 days late so I am making him a box of cupcakes, obviously not for him cos all he can have is milk but mummy and daddy will eat them
Gorgeous cakes Emmy.. hope it makes the journey, update us
So sugar and marg in together, whisked until fluffy.
While still whisking I add an egg at a time and a few spoonfuls of flour till everything is used, whisk for a few seconds more then use
I find using room temp eggs works best for a fluffy sponge
I make all my sponges by hand but use a mixer for my buttercream.
Emmy the cake looks Fab. Love the new ones Orangesox.
Oh and yes, if you are bringing in money as a form of income rather than a one off thing (If you did 5 or 6 cakes a year I'd see this as a one off. Any orders more frequent is a trade) you need to register as self emp - however you do NOThave to pay tax until to reach the earnings threshold at about £7k
