I agree. Wilton 1M. I was trying to use a small star tip to ice cupcakes and it didn't look right at all. I googled it and found the 1M, bought one and used it on Rocco's birthday cupcakes this past weekend and it looked great!
The french tip from Wilton! I am in love... Its my favourite at the moment.. Even takes over from 1m!!
Ebay for everything here also, much cheaper than Hobbycraft.. I also have a cake shop nearby that sells all the stuff, bit more expensive but not by too much...
The 2D is best for Roses. It gives a definite "rose" effect. I'll add pics in a sec of a 1M rose and then a 2D rose I've done. The 2D can be used for beautiful ruffled swirls too.
1B is fab for a really big soft swirl. It's HUGE and looks like each line was hand created.
233 is a fantastic grass tip for grass effects but also using coloured icing you can make it look like hair or fur etc.
1M is a great classic swirl nozzle.
There are others. I tend to get a few new ones every month and see what I can create with them.
cakes, cookies and crafts is the best site I've found for nozzles. Please PLEASE don't buy them on Ebay. They overcharge so badly. You should never be paying more than about £2.50 for a Wilton nozzle.
Pics 1 & 2 - 1M roses
Pics 3-5 - 2D roses. It helps that I learnt the tinted petal effect too. But you can see the shape is better with this one.
