My hubby is gone too until June so seriously I am free anytime ladies. :D

Should we think of a more child appropriate place since 3 out of 4 of us have kids? There is a place called playtown in el cajon that is quite awesome for younger kids. I don't know how out of the way that is for people though. But it's only $3 per kid and we all get in free and you can stay as long as you like so we really love it.

I added you!

You girls can add me too!

have a question, does anyone plan on having their baby at best start birth center in san diego. I am considering it, bc I want an waterbirth!!

but I have no idea, how I am going to get my insurance to switch me off of base . yikes!

Im having the baby at Mary Birch... SO excited to be having the lil one there!!

aww I had my first 2, children at scripps mercy! but I dont want an regular hospital birth this time, and my military hospital doesnt do waterbirths!!!

well I just got off the phone I Just have to switch to tricare standard, and then I can see the birth center I want. or I can risk it and ask for a referral, but she says most of the time, since the military hospital has birthing rooms, they wont let me get referred there. so I am just swithing to standard tomorrow. and going to the birth center!! : )

Is your hubby a Marine? We have Tricare, we had prime though and they let me go wherever I wanted. They said I had to find a doctor that had privileges at a hospital that did water births and there would be no problem. I ended up with an emergency c-section though so that wasn't an option.

Nope, i was always todl I could not go to whoever I wanted. With tricare prime you have to have a referral. Just got off the phone with tricare, I have to go on base, and switch to standard if I want to go to the birth center I want. None of my local hospitals do waterbirths. and they dont want to refer me out, to an non-military hospital. So I have no choice but to switch to standard.
yep mine is an marine.

That's so weird! I couldn't go on base at all as they were impacted! My PCM is a civilian doctor though and I just told her what doctor I wanted and she sent my referral for me. I also live up in Irvine not near base so that may have swayed different as I could't drive an hour down to base if I went into labor.

yeah my pcm is on base, they assigned me her and I had no choice, and I am in the process of changing that too!! but it is a arm and leg to do so.

my pcm is all for only having people deliver at camp pendleton!!

it is so hard to get the right referrals, so I Just decided to switch to standard.

Whats the main difference between standard and prime? Does it cost money for standard?

Standard, is you get to choose whoever you want to see, as long as they are tricare accepting doctors. you can self-refer. At birth, you might have a small copayment. and some doctor appts have copays, where is prime, you dont have any copays, and you have to get a referral from your doctor to go out to other doctors etc.

that is what I have been told anyways.
