Hi all,

I'm hoping that I can ask a fellow PCOS person this question as i'm a bit confused. Apart from using OPK's and tracking my temp is there any other way I can work out if I ovulate? Are there tests that the Dr's can do if I ask them?

I'm not TTC yet but working out if I ovulate is the first step my OH and I are taking to decide when we start trying so im a bit anxious as I've tracked my temp and used OPK's and had no sign of ovulation for the last few months.

Any one got experience with this and can help me here?

Hi fairy, well first off you say that you have used opk's - have you had a positive at all with these. Also have you been taken your temperature every day for a few months? I would suggest doing these first. If you suffer with pcos then you could contact your consultant to ask them their thought.

I'm sure that you can get blood tests to see your hormone levels, but not sure which ones, again if you o to your doc's he/she should let you know.

The other section ttc would probably be a better place for you to get answers a s most of the ladies there are in there early stages of ttc and and sure will be in a similar situation.

Wishing you best luck on your ttc conceive journey!

oh i see, i thought i might find more fellow PCOSers in this part of the forum. Thanks for your response its very helpful. I have been temping every day but only OPKing when i *think* I would ovulate (this is hard to predict with my irregularish periods - vary between 30 and 40 days)

Thanks for the pos though :)

Doc can do a 'Day 21' blood test, which isn't taken on day 21 as such, it's taken 7 days after you ovulate - which obviously would be day 21 on a normal 28 day cycle.. It's tests for the level of progesterone and confirms ovulation.

You can confirm OV yourself if you're temping, but if there's been no signs of OV then chances are you haven't ovulated. I never did without medication for my PCOS.

Sorry for the quick reply, hubby just walked in with pizza!!! If you've any other questions, feel free to ask :)

Youre very welcome in here fairy :) this section is for assisted conception aswell, not lust long termers.
As startdancer says, the doctors do a blood test to check your progesterone :)

thanks arcanegirl and stardancer :)

right so i think i'll keep on temping and OPKing for a month or two longer and then go to the dr's with my chart and show it to them to see if I can get that test done if I dont get any signs.

i'm not even TTCing yet and it feels emotional already just trying to work this out. my OH tries to understand and read up on it but he just doesnt quite get it. coming on here makes me feel like "thank god I can read about other people who are thinking and feeling similar things to me" :) :) :)

The Dr can do a 21 day test, and also a Progesterone test which I think can be done at any day of your cycle
