Can breastfeeding really stop you getting pregnant?

I was also breastfeeding when I got pregnant. Salim was 10 weeks old. I was worried about the health of the baby but was reassured by 4 different midwifes/doctors that the chance of having a baby with birth defects isnt higher just because you have your babies that close together.

When you see bfing as a contraceptive option, they are talking about full on bfing like they do in the third world countries. As in, no dummies, no bottles, still bfing through the night etc. In the western world where babies sleep through at young ages, parents use dummies etc then bfing is not a reliable contraceptive.
