Happy Birthday Rae!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nic- re: tattoo, go for it! im getting Chauntelles handprints and name on my forearm!somewhere i can enjoy it!

grocery shopped today! someone coming to look at our kennel soon! not much else going on......

OH I would NOT dare bug him while he is working.

He is reading bible stories with his dad now...which is odd to me since neither of are even religious but we want him to learn about all religions and make his own choice.

What are your ladies thoughts on that subject? *treads lightly asking that one*

Hi ladies! Holy chatty!!!! I wrote down everything I wanted to respond to but it was so long ago that it doesn't really matter anymore :laugh2: Plus my fingers are cold and it's hard to type!

We went to a Christian parenting seminar today! So good!!!! It was put on by Focus on the Family (cue eye rolling now...haha! We are those crazy people who love Focus :D)! Anyway, that's what we did today. And we also bought floor paint to paint on my bare plywood floors to prevent slivers until we have time to rip out and re-install the hardwood.

Now Kalevi is fixing the tractor! The fun never stops!

Loved all the baby pictures, btw!! Hope you're having a good birthday, Rae! Wishing you all the best!!! <3

haha, Nic! Funny you would bring up spirituality and I just posted about our day :D

I think it's great that you are teaching Lakai about all religions and letting him choose.

For us, however, we're doing basically the opposite. :) We are (trying to be) devoted Christians and we're going to raise our child to love Jesus :) We learned all about how to do it today! I hope we can stick to it and that our child will love God and not WANT to 'leave' the church.

I love learning about other religions though. It's so interesting! So I think we will do exploring that way too - but mostly to bring home the point that people can be different!

I don't think you have to tread lightly here either! I think we all respect each other enough to not fight about it

Thats exactly what we plan to do. Let him chose what he likes..or even a combination of a few.

I know I thought that was really random you posted right below Stiina...great minds.

I dont think I have to tread lightly either, but I also didnt want anyone reading thinking I was starting any sort of debate. :hugs:

Anyone heard from Em? I hope shes feeling better.

I was raised Roman Catholic and Peters background is Christian (they didn't do church though I don't think), we're going to let our kids make their own choices though.
I don't want to force religion on them, especially considering I am not a practicing Catholic, but we're going to let them do their own thing.

Stiina what color are you painting the floors?

Well...I was brought up staunchly Christian but I didn't even get Renah Christened. I respect Christianty but after academically learning about it...I'm not into it. Its just not for me.

I lean more towards Judaism in my belief structure when considering the bible/prophets/Jesus/etc, but in my every day life I just go with the flow. I'm more New Age, but not...weirdly new age? If that makes any sense.

I have a really cute bible that someone gave Renah for Christmas last year...its like a rhyme about each of the bible stories. Its pretty cute and I read it to her frequently. I think its more important for her to have a wordly outlook and just embrace it all and figure it out for herself, because in the end...my parents forced the Catholic church on me and I just resent them for it and have just come to my own decisions anyway.

I'm with you on that one.

I'm spiritual, but I wouldn't say religious... if that makes sense. We want Claire to know there are options out there, but it is up to her. :)

I've now got cherry chip cupcakes in the oven. :smug: Doing a dry-run of the cupcakes I want to make for her birthday to see if I've got the skillz to make them. Mmmm... cupcakes!

same Nic!! i was raised to make my own choice. i was 10 when i chose to be baptised, and i was, but now im more of an athiest/non-believer, as i dont see proof in God etc etc, im more of a Darwinian.... but i still loooove my church minister just cause hes friggin awesome.

we will raise Chauntelle to see for herself what she wants to believe. its not up to us to enforce a religion on her, but we seem some of Kyles family doing the same. and they do it so strongly it makes us uncomfortable really. they try to push it on us aswell.... so we dont go over alot. lol

i guess it makes me sound like a religion hater, but really im not. i prefer the 'each to our own' and leave me alone kinda thing lol

Recipe please!! YUMMMMMM!!!! :)

Ashlie I was the same. I chose to get baptized. I was brought up Baptist, and they don't baptize babies, they "dedicate" them (which is what we did for Claire) and then when they are older they make the choice.

The Church (IMO) is corrupt in alot of things. My youth group leader was charged/convicted of being involved in a child pornography ring. Mainly little boys. :( I know I shouldn't base all of churches against the ones I've known... but I do.

I believe in God, I follow the bible... but I don't listen to a minister preaching at me on Sundays. I believe that rather than just making a 'show' to other people that you're a "good christian" by attending church every week, I make it a practice to SHOW people I'm a good christian by leading by example. Trying to treat others the way I would like to be treated. Loving people, and giving respect.

Sorry if that offends anyone. :(

Its super exciting so long as it is plastic, and not shaped like a toy! Honestly Claire would get a bigger kick out of playing with a plastic bag (if we let her) than her super expensive toys.

So I finished two more pages in my Scrapbook for Claire. Holy hell this stuff is addictive. I'm having a blast! Vickie if you and Stan are able to come next weekend remind me to show you what I've got so far. I'm ridiculously excited and proud of it!!!!

weather permitting we'll be there! Will talk to you later in the week to find out what we are going to do and times etc. Hannah's schedule is kind of up in the air right now so..............

Question for you all... when did your babies (if they ever did) start getting upset with the word NO. Edward has started crying whenever we say No and now that he`s crawling he`s hearing it a bit more (no, not the computer wires, no, not the audio wires etc).

Just wondering if this is normals or if he decided to start a bit young at giving us attitude

Hannah started oh around 6 months  I do generally try to tell her that's mommy's or not nice etc. rather than no but sometimes it slips out. I have found that instead of no saying ah ah in a sternish way (don't know if this makes sense) makes her listen more than saying no does

and Hannah didn't play much with her toys until recently. She was more interested in exploring and getting into everything than playing with her toys....

We usually say more than just No, but it was the easiest way to ask the question.

We are off to dinner with my Boss... wish me luck.
