Canadian Moms & Moms to be!

Evening ladies!
Whew! In the middle of a stretch of work days at the Zoo. Of course, it's -20 or worse with wind chill and so cold on grounds because we're next to the river. :cold:
Xmas Penguin show is up and running and all is good.
And less and less hours after this last stretch of things, so I'm grateful for the $$ and work right now.
I know what you guys mean about this time of year. No matter how well I think I've planned, I always have these moments of looking at how much everything costs and feeling kind of sick. I'm trying really hard to keep us on a tighter budget, but what a time to start that, eh? It's about as futile as starting a diet on Dec.1!
The boys are pretty much done, and I have Simon's main gifts. But I just realized that the photobooks I need for all the family members need to be done in the next couple of days so that I can get the Black Friday deal on them, and that I haven't really shopped for anyone else yet, and registration is coming up for the next set of music and gym classes, and etc etc...
Presto change-o, there goes the pay cheque(s)!
Oh, and it turns out that Simon has indeed outgrown his snowsuit. And you know what? Normally, I'd be scouring the consignment shops, but right now, I'm just too tired.

Need to share another Simonism, by the way.
Tonight he came bursting out of his room, after being tucked in, yelling that he was too scared for bed. I asked him why he was scared and he said that "actually, I'm e'sited."
Me: Oh. Too excited to sleep?
Simon: Yeah, too 'sited to sleep.
Me: Hmm. Well, what would make you feel like sleeping?
Simon: I think some porridge.
Me: Porridge? Porridge would make you sleep?
Simon: Yes! Let's go make some right now. I will help!

:dohh: :dohh: :dohh:

WHAT is this child's obsession with porridge?
I suppose I'm lucky that it's not junk food of some sort, but still....

Isn't that kind of like saying, "Yes! My baby supports slavery!"?
Ot do you think most people just go, "Cool! Dukes of hazard...."?

I don't know, but the person who runs the consignment shop HAS BLACK CHILDREN.

Anyways, I messaged her and told her I find it sick that she even listed that, lol.

What was I thinking having two girls born in the same month???:dohh::haha:

Ugh I'm sure 3 birthdays in January isn't going to be super convenient either.

Eek, Amanda!

Helena and Elliot are a month apart and not near Christmas, so its not too bad for me!

I know! I was shocked to get home from work and not see any posts!
Super tired, so I don't have much to say, but hope everyone had a good day! :)

We've been gone all day every day for the last couple of days :dohh: I did check this morning but didn't have a chance to post as I as running out the door

busy weekend here but a pretty good one :)

how is everyone?

i've been working all weekend :( but finally am done for a couple days!

Im exhausted. My child is constantly on the go.. LOL My best friends little girl (3months older) sits so nicely and quietly on the floor and plays with her toys. J NEVER stops moving or talking LOL. even holding her is tiring as she squirms constantly. and when she's in the carrier - she's kicking her legs and flailing her arms :haha:

however put her in a room with other babies/kids, and i don't exist anymore LOL. she's gone and socializing with everyone and she occasionally turns to make sure i haven't left her.

it's so funny how different babies are, even at this age. I can't believe how different my 2 boys are. Edward always sat nicely and played and I hardly had to watch him and he would stay out of stuff if I told him too etc etc. Even now he's pretty well behaved for a 2.5 year old.

Eric on the other hand........

:haha:

:hi: Everyone! Busy weekend for me, went out with the girls on Friday, had a bridal shower on Saturday and then I had to do errands and work 3-11 tonight.

We're having a discussion in teen parenting about 'middle class' kinda. I guess I commented that I grew up middle class, but I mentioned my parents' current income (since I have no idea how much they earned over the years, I only know now because my mom & I do their taxes lol)... and they told me that's upper class. We didn't live, what I would consider, an upper class life really. Now I feel like a spoiled brat. I know that things were always taken care of, comfortable, etc. But I'd consider "upper class" to be more of a luxurious lifestyle? We definitely didn't have that.

Then I asked Andrew if he thought we were middle class. He said yeah, I guess before I had never really thought about it. Okay, by the numbers, we are. And I know owning a house etc, that's middle class. But frick I did not know that middle class would feel like this! I thought it'd be a comfier suburban sort of life? Like SAHM bloggers have or like the family on Edward Scissorhands lol. Not like how we can't really afford a car, or having to work so hard friggen constantly? And I know with the jobs we have, it'd be a stretch for us to work our way up into 'upper middle class'... I hateee this stuff. Does anyone else ever feel like a vacation is overdue? Or like.. I really hate thinking about the fact I'm going to be working for another 40 years probably

We are middle class but I know what you mean... On paper we get a decent amount of money, but its all gone on bills and sitters... we dont have fancy things, weve never been on vacation... We likely wont get too many vacations.

We seem to be middle class with no money here as well. I think part of the problem now is that the more money we get in the more we end up casually spending or we add an extra bill and before we know it the "extra" is no longer extr and it has become a "necessity".

I appreciated the easy catch up this morning. Hope everyone is doing well.
We are off to playgroup in a couple of minutes and then I think we'll get B's pictures done wih Santa this afternoon.

I'm middle class.

I consider my upbringing middle class.

They probably are all poorer class lol.
