Uggghh! I am feeling so crappy today but I'm at work
Hope you got Helena to sleep...but what is with all of this exploding poo? Emily mentioned something about it earlier. Why does that happen when they are teething? It sounds terrifyingly gross. I think I'll be handing baby over to my husband when that happens, since he seems to think we should be using cloth diapers.
I really can't see how a cloth diaper will hold up against pressurized poo! YIKES!
Hun, I was the exact same as you! I did NOT want cloth diapers AT ALL. I didn't want to have to rinse off the diapers (gross) and I figured they'd be smelly and yucky.
However, then I discovered the Bumgenius 3.0 cloth diaper, and I tells ya, I'm in LOVE. Not only are they freaking adorable, which clearly is important to me
but you'd be surprised at how well they actually work! When Claire was having a poop in her disposables, not only could we hear it, but we could smell it too. Pretty much every poop ended up as a blow out. Either up the back, up the front or through the legs.
To date, since we changed to the Bumgenius diapers we've had one,
I repeat: ONE blow out. That happened because she hadn't pooped in a day and a half and she was normally a pretty regular gal. So it kinda makes sense, ya know? Anyways, you can hardly smell the poop and we buy the liners that go in the diaper so when she does poop, it's a matter of taking the liner and flushing it down the toilet. Hardly any gets on to the actual diaper part.
Here's the link to the Bumgenius website with the diapers that I use, and here is a link to show the type of liners I use. The liners are like a roll of tougher toilet paper, runs about $6 for a roll of 150.
If you have any questions, feel free to PM me! I've yet to know anyone who's used the Bumgenius diapers and NOT like them.
Okaaaaaaaay, time to get out of Bumgenius spokesperson mentality!
Edit:
Just for price referenceing, we bought 24 diapers. They'll grow with Claire until it's time to potty train her. So inital investment is steep. We're looking at about $500 for the diapers. Yikes, right? Well, if you start using them early... once your baby is around 10lbs or so by the time your LO is around 6 months old they'll have paid for themselves. All we buy for Claire now are wipes, and the liners. We had friends who knew they wanted them so when they registered for their baby shower they put the diapers on the list.
24 diapers lasts us about 3 days or so. Then it's a wash and we're good to go for another 3 days. As much as I love them, I hate toting around dirty diapers. So if we are out for the day or are going away we use disposables.
