CIO Support Group

Well we have mastered night time! We put her down awake and shes asleep within usually 10mins..sometimes she cries but falls asleep shortly. And for naps same thing! I put her down awake and shes out within 10mins! Yayy gooo us!! Now just to get her to sleep through the night :dohh:

ive been trying this, touch wood its going well.
ive also gotta change the night waking....up to 5 times a night:dohh:

^^ LeeAnne is the same way!! She's up about...5-8times a night! Sometimes more! It's just terrible! Ive even tried letting her CIO for an hour at 3am but she just wakes herself up even more!

I am so glad we have done this!
Daisy is going to bed and settling herself within a few minutes, it is bliss!

She still wakes up once or twice a night sometimes not. I have no idea why, do you girls use dummies/soothers?
I am thinking this could be Daisy's reason for waking, time to get rid of it I think!

LeeAnne uses a soother..but within about a min she spits it out and doesnt want it the rest of the night :dohh:
So glad Daisy is doing so well!!

Ethan woke up loads cos he lost his dummy now 6 months dummy free he still wakes tho i am sure its night terrors and some nights i hear him shouting no no ...Lily goes in her cot at 7:30 and straight away she settles and sleeps until 6

aaaww poor Ethan :sad1: I dont know of anything you can try for that hun :hugs:

I am so glad we did CIO with our girls though, Daisy is the same.... in bed by 7pm sleeping within a few minutes and it lasts all night, it is pure bliss to get her sleeping so soundly without having to lay beside her for an hour! :D

Hey guys, weve been doing controlled crying for a week now and its working great for Alexs sleeping :D

I have a question though, does it ever get to the point where they dont cry anymore when you put them down? Were at less than 10 mins crying when he goes down for the night but was hoping at some poing he would go down without crying so much.

Yep keep at it doll and he soon wont cry at all :D

i think Daisy was just over a week and she just babbles away to herself for a few minutes now then goes to sleep. :D

Whats your bedtime routine? Do you think it could matter what happens before?

We have a routine the same things weve been doing for along time, and he knows its bedtime but everything is done outside of his room. Do you think that matters?

The last thing we do is sleeping bag and bottle, he crys when he goes into the bag (he doesnt like clothes on or off ) and when i did his bottle in his bedroom he always fell asleep on it which i want to avoid.

We did kind of stick to the normal routine we had been using from early on, every night we were having to lie down on my bed with Daisy all swaddled up to get her to sleep so we knew something had to be done!

Daisy has her bath at about 6:45pm then bottle just after 7 and I put her down in her cot for 7:30 and she settles within 5 minutes.

I dont think it would matter what happens before as long as it is all quite quiet and low lights etc, just a bit of winding down time.
xxx

We bath at 6:30 followed by massage then bottle and bed 7:30 ...she goes down a dream ...although shes ill at the moment and goes down but is waking every 2 hrs or so x

Looking for some help again girls.

What did you do when your LOs reached standing up stage?
When we put Alex down for a nap he goes straight to standing up, every checkpoint we go in we place him down but he always goes up again! Yesterday took an hour to get him down to nap :dohh:

A hr is good to start with it will get better i dont remember the standing stage with ethan but he was in a bed by 9m to see if he would sleep better and it didnt work he is nearly 3 and still doesnt sleep ....maybe Andrea will be able to help as Daisy was bigger when she CIO x

I am at the end of my rope at bedtime so we are trying CIO.

Last night Elyse cried probably only 5 minutes though of crying then the occasional cry between winks of sleep in the 5 minutes following.

But when they get up in the middle of the night, what to do? She stands up in her crib and cries until I go to rescue her, she can see me because we share a room.. am I supposed to let her CIO again at 3am??

id like to know this aswell, as my lo wakes at 2am crying:baby:

Also it is not up at night to feed it's just up IDK wanting mummy I guess lol.

I think it depends what theyre waking for and if they normaly wake at night or not. For us Alex doesnt wake unless theres a reason to, last time was because he was cold so an extra blanket then yes we did CC untill he went back again.
I wont do it if he wakes for things like teething (which hasnt happened yet)

Ok it's official, Elyse hates her crib.

The only way I can get her to sleep in her crib is if I let her CIO, she won't go to sleep quietly on her own, if she falls asleep on me on the couch or rocking her or something she wakes up when I move her to her bed :(

Hiya girls,
How you all doing?

AG, Daisy did do the standing at the cot but I think as long as they can get themselves down safely then I would just leave him and he will probably settle himself down.

Tasha how you getting on?
Daisy used to wake at bang on 2am every night even when she was self settling at night, i took her into my bed for the first few nights but then discovered it was because she was cold she was waking (she wont keep socks or covers on.
So i got her some fleecy sleepsuits and they did the trick!

So I would go through everything that it could be, too cold, too hot, uncomfy?
Does she use a dummy/soother? If she is waking up looking for it that could be the reason and you might need to wean her off that first.

Thanks, I will have to see about her being too cold kicking her covers off... and maybe some plushier bumper pads as I think she's bumping her head on her crib at night (I can hear it sometimes).
