Does anyone have any experience of being on this whilst falling pregnant? I want to be off it so am reducing the dosage but it will still take a couple more weeks at least.

no idea hun but im on it aswell :( , ive gradually stopped taking it ready for the 10th when my implant is removed xx

I've read real mixed advice on this so have no idea. Last thing I want is to hurt the baby in any way but also worry that my symptoms will come back when I'm off them.

I'm on a different one, but most will say that it's better to come off, unless you can't cope x

better to stay on it through the pregnancy cause u might get sick. it wont harm the baby, my 2 kids are ok.

I was on it from before I got pg to the 28th week. I took a long time to wean off of it. I had major mixed messages from my drs, nurses etc. Everyone has an opinion. The best thing I heard was that there are no studies so they just plainly dont know. There are a huge number of women on this drug during pg and so far extremely encouraging results from those with experience. If taken throughout pregnancy baby may be born wih a bi of dependency so he may cry more and have trouble breast feeding. He's essentially going through withdrawal. These side effects only last for a couple of days. The biggest issue is making sure feeding is established which can be harder because they are fussier as I mentioned.

Over all the answers I kept getting were to do what's best for both. If you can go off then that's best. If you can't because of anxiety / depression then that's best to stay on.

I don't think citalopram is one of the safe ones... I've been on it in the past but had to switch as it was making me sleep too much  I was on venlafaxine 75mg before finding out I was pregnant. I then stopped and was given sertraline 100mg last week - it landed me in hospital, so be careful :hugs: I was on it for depression, anxiety and PTSD (sexually abused). If you can stay off it I would definitely say that's the best thing to do :hugs:

ETA you'll probably get loads of conflicting advice. My doctor told me to come off them but it was a specialist midwife who put me back on them. Since being in hospital I've come off them completely, it was such a horrible scare :(

It is most defineatly a safe one during pregnancy. I spoke to many doctors, nurses and pharmacist to make sure of that. The conflicting answers were the side effects.
