I have mostly Charlie Banana, a few Fuzzibuns and a few cheap no-names from ebay with cute prints. The Charlie Banana diapers come with a small and large insert per diaper and really you only need as many inserts as pocket diapers, so I use the extras in the cheap eBay pockets.
I started with 24 and was doing laundry every day, now every 2 days. You'll want to err on the side of having "too many" as there are sometimes where you will change a diaper 3 times in an hour! Cloth have to be changed more often than disposable. I probably went through 18 per day for the first month.
