Crafty Chicks!!!!

I draw and paint, great fun! But recently have gotten into...

Clay Modelling... we had two bars of modeling clay that we picked up from the dollar store, but after that runs out, I'm thinking salt dough.

Sewing... my gramma gave me her sewing machine, So I cut up a fleece penguin blanket I had and I had a pair of shorts without a pattern xD They turned out okay, after spending three hours modifying them, but I've put that on hold a bit until I get a) a proper pattern and b) new material. I really want to make teddys and dolls for The Child... and clothes for me cause I have no clothes.

Woodworking... I found a guy on kijiji.com who was giving away for free a whooole bunch of wood that you use to make cabinets. So I'm seeing if I can get that. DH likes making stuff with wood too, so if we can get it, we're planning to build a playhouse for The Child and a cat house/tower for our little furry loves :)

I also wanna do scrapbooks - one for DH and I, for our wedding, and one for The Child as a book of "Firsts".

What is everyone's latest craft project they are working on?

I am just painting some cheapo Ikea shelves black to hang above my windows to put some breakables on, far out of Helena's reach, and I should work on my scrapbooks a bit. :)

Hey Hey :)

I made couple of pregnancy scrapbook pages.

This 3rd is a poem my husbands Uncle wrote for Autumn. I really liked it and wanted to do something special with it, so I made this scrapbook page around it and am going to put it in a shadowbox frame to hang in the nursery. (There's a post on my blog with the poem in full if you can't read it on here. Link in my siggy)

I have been waiting for the local craft store to get a specific font of wooden letter in so I can decorate them for Autumns wall. They finally (after 3 weeks) got them all in today. They had all the letters previously but "T"! Here they are plain. I just really love the font. I wish I know what it was called.

And I also got these wooden butterfly's. I'm going to decorate them and make a mobile out of them for the nursery.

I have a few days off this week so will work on it and post them when they are finished :)

Great stuff! Love the pages, love the poem, LOVE LOVE LOVE the letters. :) What colours do you think you will paint her name? Oh and I love the name Autumn. :D

Thank you :)

Well I was thinking of covering the front in some kinds of patterned paper and embellishing them with some flowers/butterflies and painting the sides and backs in some kind of pattern.

I think I'll go browse the craft shop and see what takes my fancy when I'm there.

hi girls, mind if I join? I'm a scrapbooker and sometimes delve into cardmaking too.

Hey, mind if I join? I do some scrap booking, sigs for people on BnB, I paint (anything that can be painted, stools, wood boxes) and my specialty is painting onsies, though haven't had much time for it since Kathryn was born, will be getting back into it soon since I was making some money doing it ($35-50 depending on if just a onsie, onsie with rhinestones, or outfit-onsie with pants). The only thing I have pics of is some of my onsies that I've painted (were all sold so these are the only ones I have pics of): (sorry, may be a bit of an overload)

Gender neutral ones:

And here's a special one I made for my Kathryn, me and DH are big into WOW and have Alliance characters, so I painted a little alliance onsie for her back when she was little:

OMG!! Those are amazing!!! Do you think you could paint one with an otter on it?!?!?! (not a sea otter, but like a river otter).

I would totally eat that up for my LO!! (Who I call Otter!)

I can paint most animals as long as I can find a pic to go off of, I think an otter wouldn't be too hard :D

EEEE!!!! :yipee: I will find a couple of pics and PM you!!!! (If you don't mind!)

Sure :D
I've been wanting to get back into doing them, and my huge playpen for Kathryn is on its way, so I wont be getting climbed on all the time

Wow moonmuffin those are AMAZING!!! How much would 1 cost and shipped to Canada be?!? My princess needs one LOL

I finished the letters! :) I'm happy with how they turned out. I was gonna gloss varnish them but I wanted that worn feeling on them so decided to go with matt.

Wooden letters. Painted them purple, covered with bo bunny scrapbook cardstock, sanded the edges down to give it some distressed look. Inked the edges. Some stickles, string, buttons.

they look great chaos - love the little butterflies, so cute!

My current project is getting my outfit ready for a Renaissance Faire Im going to this weekend. Its driving me bonkers cause I cant sew  Im trying to make a wrap for around my skirt and I wanted to add beads in it and its not going very well  Ill post a picture when Im all dressed up to show off my lack of sewing skills. the Ren faire is actually a Pirate Faire so everyone is all dressing up as Pirates. The wrap Im making will have a matching head wrap....

My problem is the material I bought is very sheer and Im trying to add beads to it. I thought maybe I could add the beads to the actual material just by making slits and then knotting it off at the end, but each bead I put on makes the material frey... So now I have to figure out what to do... I want dangely beads at the ends so they show when I tie at my waist and in my hair..... Any ideas????
